Conversation about Trump signing an order to speed psychedelic research for veterans and the potential benefits of these therapies.
Asmongold weighs in on Trump’s psychedelic research push, Joe Rogan’s influence, and the mental health crisis, arguing for faster FDA review and real-world尝试 of groundbreaking treatments.
Summary
Asmongold hosts a rapid-fire discussion sparked by Trump’s executive order to speed psychedelic research for veterans’ mental health, highlighting Joe Rogan’s role and public advocacy. He weaves personal anecdotes about his father’s experiences with psychedelics and pain management into a broader take on depression, medication, and lifestyle as part of mental health. The clip references breakthroughs in ibogaine and other psychedelics as potential tools, while arguing that current reliance on antidepressants is overly broad and often insufficient. Throughout, Asmongold pushes for faster regulatory pathways, better data sharing between the FDA and Veterans Affairs, and a more nuanced view of how society treats mental illness. The segment also humorously riffs on political personalities, yet stays anchored to the core theme: exploring innovative, potentially life-changing treatments and questioning the status quo in mental health care. Expect moments of candor, controversial takes, and calls to reframe how we address depression and addiction in America.

Uh, we literally have uh Joe Rogan [ __ ] up there with them legalizing psychedelic drugs. This is insane. Let me see if I can pull this up and show you guys. Trump signs order to speed psychedelic research for veterans mental health. See, my dad was having a curve with this. Like he he he agreed that this bill was signed years and years and years ago, right? And I think it's a good thing. It's a great thing. And mushrooms today. Yeah, exactly. Like, and I'll tell you like there was one time that he was like really sick and he was on like multiple painkillers.
He was high and he had done shrooms. And he's telling me a story of like a conversation that he had with a person I've never met 65 years ago. And he's telling me the story. And he starts leaning on the wall and falling down. And he's like falling down literally. And I have to like grab him and I'm like I'm like trying to I'm like you okay? You okay? He doesn't even acknowledge the fact that he's falling down. He just continues telling the story as he's going down. He's laying on the ground halfway on the [ __ ] on the wall and he's like so then yeah uh basically so then I told him and then cuz you remember what happened cuz I met him.
So he lived three doors and he's sitting there just telling the story. He didn't even know about it. And so anyway, no, I I there's been plenty of people and it made things better for him, by the way. It did. It improved things for him. So I am totally in favor of this. I am massively happy about seeing this happen. Huge W to Trump for doing this or you know RFK, Joe Rogan, anybody involved with this. Dr. Oz, this is a great thing that they did this, man. It's an amazing thing. And so Exane Anidote, I love it.
I know. It's great. Well, let's go ahead. I'll look at a few of the clips from it. Okay. Experienced an 80 to 90% reduction in symptoms of depression. Depression, anxiety within one month. Some please. I'll take I'll take whatever it takes. I don't have time to be depressed. If you stay busy enough, maybe that works, too. That's what he's he said that for 50 years. And you know what's crazy is that he's right. Is that for me, like I I don't have time to be depressed either. Like I I I don't have time to sit back and think about, well, what would it be?
life would be so much better if that one time in 2011 and then there was that thing that happened. It wasn't fair. And like you're sitting there thinking about this [ __ ] and it's like what the [ __ ] is wrong with you, bro? Like you got to go do something. Like what the hell are you doing? And uh you're depressed. You don't realize it. Everybody's depressed. Everybody's depressed. Everybody's mentally ill. It doesn't work that way sadly. There are extremes and externalities, but I think that looking at trying to make lifestyle changes and accommodating the lifestyle that keeps you busy is going to keep your mind occupied and so you're not thinking about a bunch of FOMO realities and you know the mean things somebody said to you in 8th grade, right?
Like I I you're wrong. I'm not I'm not wrong. I'm not wrong at all. Like I'm I'm right about myself. I'm right about myself. And how many of you guys have had the same experience? How many of you guys, and I'm not saying that you're wrong, but what I'm saying is that there's an area in the middle where a lifestyle change can improve things. I I'm not I'm not invalidating people that have depression. I'm not invalidating them. What I'm saying is that medication should be a last resort, not a first resort. And I think that nowadays it's a first resort.
And that's a bad thing. That's my opinion on it, right? And again, I'm not a [ __ ] doctor. I'm just I've just observed things, right? That's all. And uh people can't cope with being bored more than 5 minutes. It's a skill that's lost. Yeah, that's what I think too. And oh, this is the same one from as before research on the fact that over 20% of US women are on these drugs that are I would like to say that like over 20% could also mean like 90%. Because 90% is over 20%. which I think in that case would be accurate.
Prescribed for life. We have a mental health crisis and they work. No, they don't. I'm on a couple of them and I would not be next. But no, it it is definitely an issue for women. But this research damn. Damn. No, they don't believe it. I guess so. And uh I don't have time to be pressed. Oh, what is this here? Can find it. Uh what is the the other ones? I can see if I can find it. Actually, a lot of wisdom in that. Yeah, I think I think he's right about that. And um anyway, oh, this is some other thing as well.
I don't know if there's any more of these to look at. It's pretty much the same the same exact jokes, but uh Oh, there's Oh, yeah. Here we go. Nothing more expensive right now than the mental health crisis in America. 20 Yeah. I mean, exactly. Who do you think's standing out in the road? People that need to be medicated. The Rogan part. Okay, I'm I'm going to lock that in. 21% of Americans have a diagnosible mental health condition. 21%. The leading cause, excuse me, the second leading cause of death for young adults today is suicide.
Mr. President, anti-depressants right now are the most prescribed class medications in the country. Over 20% of women are on an anti-depressant. Good in terms of do they work? Highly problematic. Oh my god. U research on the fact that over 20% of US women are on these drugs that are prescribed for life. We have a mental health crisis and they work. they don't. I I'm on a couple of them and I said, COULD I BE NEXT? But no, it it is definitely an issue for women. But Mr. President, what you and Secretary Kennedy unlocked is for the first time questioning this system that where we spend three times more per capita than any other country in the world and we are living six, seven years less.
We have the highest rates of suicide and depression in the developed world. The incentives of our system by the way autism which we're really working hard on right we have the highest and we're coming up with some pretty amazing funding cancer is the highest rates in the world. We we are struggling and paying more than other country and the power of this executive order is really representative and gives validation to the cries of maja moms and the votes of maja moms because of the first time it's it's taken a therapy that's one time. This is a one time one time not a lifetime drug that can change someone's life and that's the power and I think that's why this is so the anti-depressants.
So there it is. I'm glad to see this. Still not addressing the root causes to be honest. Well, I mean you've got to do it like the way that you attack mental health like this is like through a multiaceted approach, right? You don't do it in one way. So this is Joe Rogan. Okay, here we go. Let's see it. Tell everybody how this happened. I sent President Trump some information. Uh I want to tell everybody how this happened. I sent President Trump some information. Uh we have a gigantic opiate problem in this country. Obviously, uh in 2024, more than 80,000 people died of overdoses.
Wow. It's it's a horrible number. And there's more than 5 million people that are addicted to opiates right now in this country. With one dose of ibagane, more than 80% of people are free of that addiction. with two doses, it's more than 90%. I sent him that information. It's a lot. The text message came back. Sounds great. Do you want FDA approval? Let's do it. It was literally that quick. Um, these drugs are illegal. Not because they're harmful. They're illegal. Thank [ __ ] God we have people like men of action in government. I wish you Can you just do that with everything?
I That That's what we need to do with everything. Thank God. Yes, exactly. Holy [ __ ] man. This is finally happening. I know. Because of the 1970 Controlled Substances Act that was passed by the Richard Dixon administration. They did it to target the Civil Rights Movement and the anti-war movement. It's not because these drugs harm people. And for 56 years, we've lived under those terrible conditions. We're free of that now. We're free of that now. Thanks to all these people that we see next to me and thanks to President Trump. W great. I mean, this is awesome.
I'm happy. And uh yeah, there we go. And uh you don't like politicians. You like businessmen. Well, you got to do you got to look somebody who does a [ __ ] job, right? I mean, there it is. And uh Trump Yeah. conservatives bring on leaders in the White House lives for puppets in there. Well, I mean, I feel like you've got a lot of problems on both sides. It's not really that one-dimensional, but like in general, I'm very, very happy to see things like this improve. I'm tremendously happy. And this is Oh no. Oh god. Okay.
Well, let me see if there's any more of this that are worth looking at. But overall, I'm very happy to see this. Trump made a great decision. And just in a very general sense, I think that overall being able to do this kind of stuff, it's a great thing. It's an amazing thing, and I'm very happy. And uh yeah, here we go. My honor. This is This is him signing it. The IRGC pushes us straight again. I wonder if that joke. You think Biden can do that? Do you think Biden could sign his name? Yeah.
I didn't think so. you have any questions of the folks? And I think we'll keep it on the subject pretty much. Have some quite my honor, man. How about that? He's proud. Yeah. And I think it's a good thing. It's a great thing. Absolutely. Thank Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. who's a fantastic Where are you, Bob? I'm over here. He always makes it difficult for me. He's done a great job, too. And people love him. And more importantly, your wife is I honestly think he's been great. I I like getting getting, for example, like Red 40 and just replacing that with like I don't know like cantalopes or something like I feel like that's just it it's just better, right?
It it it's literally just better. Thank god. There's some place. Bobby, she's out there. Where are you? Where are you? the real boss in the family. Thanks, Secretary. And RFK has been putting the work. Yeah, he has. I think it's great, man. It's amazing. I'm happy to see it. And uh what is this? And there's a little bit more of this. I can find everything else. And uh Oh, here we go. President Trump has delivered an epic victory for all humanity. I thank him for having the courage to make this happen and my mission brother epic Joe Rogan for having the spine to make the ask.
Damn. To our brothers and sisters in Gabon. You have our deepest gratitude for your stewardship of the sacred tree grown for the heat. Why don't I mean like you got to give this guy a cowboy hat or something, man. Like you got you I mean really of nations like a bolo tires. I will do my best. Come on to deliver the respect and honor you deserved. Y this nation. It is my joy to deliver these good tidings unto the meek, which will hopefully bind up the brokenhearted, proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the present to all who are bound.
God bless you, and God bless America. Thank you. Damn. Damn. He's a head cowboy and a range on a range coach. I I I'm not surprised at all. And so, uh, this is great, man. And I'm very happy. And, yeah, I mean, I don't really know what else to say. This is match the scale of the problem. I want to thank Joe Rogan for helping bring national attention to innovative, potentially life-saving treatments for veterans. Joe Rogan, bro, and others living with mental illness and for pushing this conversation into the mainstream. I also want to thank Representative Morgan Latrell from Texas and former Navy Seal Marcus Latrell for their leadership on this issue.
I also want to thank I know you guys might not believe this, but anybody that's been paying attention, his voice has been getting better. It is like it's a lot better than it was like uh whenever he was campaigning for president like it's improved a pretty good amount. CEO of Americans drive again Brian Hubard and the organization ambassador to former Navy Seal Henry Burkowitz. Yeah, they got throat. Former SEAL team six Rob O'Neal. I want to thank a couple of people for getting AC this record time across the finish line. Cali means and Dr. Heidi Overton.
Thank you Heidi for your leadership and for your attention to detail detail which is often match this. There it is. That's great man. And use it. Yeah. [ __ ] red 40 out of the system. I know, man. And uh there it is. So, uh yeah, there going to be certain psychedelics designated to break through his therapy drugs. Okay, this will be Yeah, this will be the last one. This will be the last one that like fully explains everything and then I want to look at the uh the Iran thing. The executive order I'm signing, we're actually signing the executive order today is uh really a moment.
It directs the FDA to expedite their review of certain psychedelics already designated as breakthrough therapy drugs. They're very much um being discussed. I It's one of the hottest things I think you're talking about, right? It's nothing. If if these turn out to be as good as people are saying, it's going to have a tremendous impact on this country and other countries too. Good. These treatments are currently in the advanced stages of clinical trials to ensure that they're both safe and effective for the American patients. And the nice part is we're actually doing this early, but it has been going on.
Research has been going on for quite some time. But you know, usually with things like this, nothing ever happens no matter how many such ends up. But we're changing that. This order will clear away unnecessary bureaucratic hurdles, improve data sharing among the FDA and the Department of Veterans Affairs, and facilitate fast rescheduling of any psychedelic drugs that become FDA approved. And we think many of them will go very quickly. And hopefully I have to say the most favored nations pricing that we established that I established uh has been I feel like that's one of the things that Trump did that was just like a universal good thing nobody talks about.
Like this is kind of one of the problems is like people that don't like certain presidents are unwilling to acknowledge that the president ever does something good or bad. Like for example, Biden pardoned a lot of people that were in jail for nonviolent weed charges. That was a good thing that Biden did. It was just straight up a good thing. Like there's no reason these people should be in [ __ ] jail. And uh like I feel like people would be more better off if we just acknowledge that there are some good things that happen. Knocking the cost of drugs down by 50 60 70 80%.
And I want to thank you and great job and the press refuses to write about it. I think it's it's probably as big as what we're talking about today. the drug costs are going are going down at and by the way Trump RX which is the way you go to get your very lowc cost drugs but when you think uh in my first term for 28 years drug prices went up and I got it down one quarter or 1/8 of a percent I was so proud of myself it's the only one that in 28 years got got them down and I had a news conference to explain how great I was I said I'm the greatest there ever was I got it down 1/8 of 4%.
Okay. I I was very proud cuz it only went up for 28 years. It went up. Now I Wow. There it is at a press conference for how great I am, man. [ __ ] based.
