Oh yes. Where's my hybrid? What? Yeti's been dropped. Oh, you mother. What will win in a drag race between these epic German performance cars? Well, I'm going to find out by racing them over the standing quarter mile. I'm Matt Watson and you're watching Car Wow. Let's check out our contender. So, this is the Audi RS6 GT. It's got a 4 L twin turbo V8. 630 horsepower, 850 new meters of torque, 8-speed auto and all-wheel drive. It weighs 2.1 tons. Next, we have the MG GT63S. 4 L twin turbo V8. 640 horsepower, 900 new m of torque, 9-speed auto, allwheel drive, weighs 2 tons. Next, we got the new BMW M5 Touring. It's a 4.4 4 L twinturbo V8 hybrid with 727 horsepower and 1,000 new meters of torque, 8-speed automatic gearbox, allwheel drive, and weighs a colossal 2.5 tons. Finally, we have the Porsche Panamera Turbo SE hybrid. It's got 4 L twin turbo V8 hybrid with 782 horsepower and 1,000 Newton meters of torque. 8-speed automatic gearbox, allwheel drive. And look, it does this thing where it lifts up on its suspension to make it easier for you to get in. Now, let's meet the drivers. This race is going to be super, super close. I don't know who's going to win. Hopefully, it's not going to be the guy in the car next to me. Hello, Yanni. You're all right. Hi, Matt. How are you? I'm actually quite jealous. I love the look of your RS6. But I'm thinking that because I've got way more power than you, I'm going to beat you. I have got without a doubt the best looking car and it's got white wheels. So, this is me all over. And it's dripped in carbon. So, win-win for me. Yeah. But you're only winning properly if you can win the drag race. Do you reckon you got a chance? I would like to think my launch will be on point and I will lead to victory. Oh, you mother. What about you though, Sam? Um, you're over in an old Mercedes. What are you doing? Well, I'm bringing a bit of decorum here with Manny. Manny's loud, obnoxious white car. And then, well, Rory's cheating, so we won't talk about that. And then you're in. I don't even know what it is. This is just a nice car. I didn't need the hybrid. Mercs have had a bad rap on this show and I'm here to set the record straight. Okay, fair enough. Well, let's go to the final car, which is the one with the most power here. Rory, come on. This is not fair. Yeah. Hello. Uh, yeah, I have the most power. I also have the biggest price, which is quite alarmingly expensive, but yeah, 780 horsepower and 1,000 new meters of torque, but I do also weigh 2.4 tons, so I am quite heavy. So, you've got more power and less weight than me. But BMWs always understate their power, so I probably got the same power as you really. All right, and let's get on with the racing. We're going to do one drag race. May the best car win. Right. Well, my car's trying to park itself. It's found a parking space and it thinks it's Look, look, it's just going to park itself. What's it doing? It's actually found itself a parking space in a bush. George Michael edition. Why is it doing this? The BMW just doesn't want it. I can feel it. Look at it. It's just cowering over there. Do you remember that episode of the Simpsons when Homer fades back into the bush? My car thought it spotted a parking bay and this is the parking bay that it spotted. And I can leave the parking space now as well. The fact that you've been using that car, maybe it thinks you're going back to dogging. Going back. What you talking about? Never stopped. There you go. Look. Are you going to do it? Press brake to start maneuver. Is he going to drive into that little tree? Maneuver completed. Okay. Um, yeah. Great. Well, I won the parking competition, so let's all go home now. 2. That Porsche is quick as Come on the Merc. WHOA. OH, you mother Yanni's been dropped. Oh, Yanni's out. That's bollocks. I mean, it's not just a win. That Porsche is so fast. It is a trouncing. Oh my god. I got a little bit of wheel spin off the line there and we're all neck and neck apart from the Porsche that just shot off. He must have jumped that. I don't think I did. I've turned traction control all the way off and there was absolutely zero wheel slip. Without doubt, Rory jumped. I mean, there's no question. I Why you cheat in a car that's already cheating is beyond me. Y, you were like level with me. Did you do something silly like um change gear at the wrong time? The car didn't change gear. That was the thing. So, I expected it like launch it would just change gears for me and it didn't. It left me in gear. Wait a minute. Did you have it selected in manual mode rather than just pull back onto sport mode? I just want to say racing driver Sam told me to put it in manual mode to get launch working, which I did. I'm sure I remember Sam saying put the gearbox in sport mode, not manual mode. Try turning traction off fully, Yanni. See if that makes a difference. He said sport mode. They're different. Formal protest liable. I said turn off traction control. I never said anything about manual mode. He did say that to be fair, but I don't know what happened. But I have now got launch control and it is in sport mode and it's not in manual. So, we need to run that again because Rory obviously jumped. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay. Right. We will run it again. We'll do best two out of three or whatever. But first, we need to check some other things out because these cars might perform very differently. Um, so let's just do a rolling race. Sorry, I think my my car thinks it's bonnet's open. It's B. It does look kind of open. Definitely looks sort of open. I give it a little push. Go on. Push it hard. No, it's shut. Did you hear it click? Yeah. Did it click? It clicked. Did it? And it looks shut now. Oh, there we go. Well done. Thank you. Why did it open? Don't know. Maybe it'll be faster with it shut. Yeah. Arrow formal protest. Right, guys. Now we can have a rolling race. It's like you're just cruising along on the motorway and you suddenly need to put your foot down and overtake. So, we're going to have the cars in their like cruisy setting. So, in my car, I'm in hybrid mode and I'm in the most relaxed engine mode, which is comfort. Well, Rory, do you know what? I wonder if we're going to benefit from our hybrid systems now. This This should really help us, shouldn't it? Yeah. I mean, we're by far the heaviest, but I think this is where the cars should be the fastest. So, let's hope. I'm backing this car. Ready? Everyone level with me? Everyone set up. Ready? Cruisy mode. That's That's revers. The first race he did it manual mode and like pinged off the limiter. And now he's gonna go backwards because he thinks his car's so fast he can go all one loop round backwards and beat us at the half mile line. Let's do it. Ready? Three, two, one, go. Where's my hybrid? What? Oh, took ages. Wow. Yeah. The car was rubbish. Oh my god, look at that Mercedes. that has disproved the point of having a hybrid. So my car was in hybrid, so it was in electric mode. So the engine was off at 50 miles an hour. I floored it and the whole engine and gearbox had to wake up and by that time the Audi and the Mercedes were gone. Did you have that same problem, Rory? Have I mentioned this car is the heaviest, but it isn't actually the heaviest? Uh, that was absolutely mental. The gearbox took ages to kick down and the engines come on and then I can't believe how fast that Merc was. We finally got a Merc that is delivering the performance it should do. It's amazing. I've got a horrible feeling the oldest car here is going to win overall. This is going to be a mad upset. Yeah. Yanni, how come you got beat by that Merc? I don't know. Like it done all right. It was catching him slowly slowly but yeah, it's Listen, I come second, which is first of the losers, but better than third or fourth. And look that I don't know. I don't know. All right, you done all right. Let's have that silly gearbox kicked down out of the equation. Let's do another rolling race. And this one hopefully will benefit us. Rory, come on. I love the way Matt doesn't even speak to me. I just decimated everybody and I just left here quietly like a leper. I can't bear to speak to yourself. I just couldn't face the smuggness. So, you know, in that very niche situation that you'll never use on the road, this car is the best. That's true. Do you know where they would win? Definitely though the benefit in kind on each of these cars if you're a company car driver now me and you Rory are definitely winning with that aren't we? We are the the lovely bit company car tax rate every month will just be a lot lower than those two there. But Sam I'm going to go to you because you're a bit miffed I didn't speak to you last time. Um but I'm happy to talk to you because you didn't win. But did you manage to pip Yanni at the line? No it wasn't quite a photo finish but it was close to it. If there was another 10 meters it would have been a photo finish. It was very tanny doesn't think I'd just like to add Rory talking about weight. That was just pure inertia and gravity pulling that car forwards. There was nothing to do with him. So yeah, this was actually quicker than the Audi I think. And uh I think another 10 meters like I said it would have beaten Yanni. Well, it's going to be crazy when we do the drag race. Tires all warmed up, everyone prepped. Yanni in automatic mode to see what's going to happen. Before then though, let's get some proper heat into the tires and let's do the brake test. See if you can win the brake test. Sam, you're normally the legend at the brake test, but Yanni's also pretty good as well. Yeah. Y, what about me? What about me? So, we can have a big break test competition now. Let's do it. What we're going to do is a a rolling race, but this time we're going to roll in 10 mph and the start is going to start us. So, we're going to race over the half mile from 10 mph in first gear. Well, did he back out of it? Why did you stop at the quarter mile? No, we don't stop at the quarter mile. I said we're going to race over the half mile. So then why did you slow down so much? I didn't slow down so much. How could I have slowed down if I was ahead of you? Right. Brake test. Mate, are you being serious? You know you didn't get to the half mile. You slowed right down well before the half mile. Are you aware of that? Joking aside. Uh I was accelerating the whole way. Nope. Matt, I'm really I'm getting a bit nervous now. Are you okay? Honestly, Matt, it looked like you stopped at the quarter mile. Now I'm starting to doubt myself. I'm either being gas lit or I need to probably go to A&E right now. On a level we hit the/4 mile and I flew partial and I'm like why is he slowed down? Oh dear. We shall find out. He's looking back on the GoPro to see what happened with the speed though. And you're going to be in for a real shock. I promise you, when you get down there. Okay. Well, let's see. Oh, wait. Yeah, Yanni, you're really rusty. Hey, it's karma for him coming for me earlier. So, they were absolutely 100% correct. There we go. There we go. Okay. I'm very worried now. I just randomly bailed um sometime after the quarter mile for no apparent reason. Karma, you're right, is biting me hard, Yanni. Um, I take it all back. Um, let's do a break test. Good karma now, please. Guys, good karma. What speed were you doing, Matt? 150. 155. Yeah. Do you know what? Worrying about I forgot that I said I was going to do But yeah, it was definitely higher than 132. I actually think there's something wrong with me. Sam, don't do the paddle. Sam will do the paddles for sure, baby. I'm going to do the paddles. Everyone on the paddles. Oh my god, that Porsche is so quick. But did it jump? I genuinely could timed it better than that. I left it just a split second, a still one, just to prove a point. To be fair, my car I lift off the brake and it wasn't going anywhere. I was like, nah. So, this had like this weird delay, which was a shame. Yeah. Came came last. You were second though, weren't you, Yan? Yeah, this launched lovely. And I'm very, very happy with this car. Uh, and Sam, that's performing, isn't it? Do you know what? It was mega. If you jump, you can always win. That's the lesson we can learn from the Porsche. But I think overall, this Merc is performing very well. Okay, so I just need to get a better launch in this otherwise it's game over. I just want to check. Was there a jump from the Porsche? Negative. There was no jump from the Porsche. I like to say he does. Um but no, at this occasion I think that was just I mean nothing to do with him. It's just the Porsche is much faster than everything else. Yeah. Yanni. Um good launch. You happy with that? Could you go quicker or is it You're never going to catch that I'm happy with what this car does. The Porsche is always going to win. I'm always going to come second. I thought you came third, Matt. I thought Sam came last there. Yeah, I think I don't know. I don't I actually don't know what's going on. No idea. Um I think we might need to leave this video. Well, the Porsche won, it completed the standing quarter mile in 10.7 seconds. The Audi took second place just ahead of the BMW, but both cars crossed the line in 11.3 seconds.
