Summary
Jackfrags dives into 83, a brand-new Cold War FPS that just entered early access. He notes the 40 versus 40 combat, fast time-to-kill, and the game’s roots in the Red Orchestra/Rising Storm lineage via Blue Dot Games. The video highlights the infantry-focused gameplay, with features like manual leaning, prone positioning, respawn tickets, and a squad-based structure. He experiments as a marksman, mentioning an M14-like rifle, a 1911 sidearm, bandages, and the option to run with a bayonet that he later removes for better accuracy. The commentary covers the map layout, objective-based breakthroughs, and the threat of artillery and white-phosphorus strikes. Visual options like 3D rendered scopes are discussed, along with performance considerations when enabling them. The session includes close-quarters firefights, aggressive flank attempts, and a dramatic late-game defense that culminates in a hard-fought win. Overall, 83 is framed as a more accessible milsim-inspired shooter, with a focus on tense firefights and map control rather than pure realism. Jackfrags suggests fans of Rising Storm or the old Red Orchestra mod might feel at home, while also appealing to players craving modern visuals and brutal gunplay.

Today we're checking out a brand new game called 83. It's just gone into early access. And this is a Cold War gone hot scenario game, 40 versus 40, developed by a company called Blue Dot Games. And there's actually a lot of connected tissue in the dev team from the Red Orchestra mod, I think, back in the day. That was a mod for Unreal Tournament that I played, World War II mod. Very good. And I believe that team or some of that team went on to make Trip Interactive, who developed the Rising Storm series of games.
Some stuff transpired and eventually they formed a new studio, Blue Dot, and today we're here with 83. So, I thought I'd check it out and show you guys. So, just the basics. We can do free luck, which is cool. We can do manual lean, we can prone, and the time to kill in this game is very, very fast. The guns are incredibly lethal. Red Orchestra Rising Storm, they always head on the side of Milsim, I would say, but perhaps a little bit more accessible than some of the other Milsim games. I don't know what direction they've gone with this.
He's dead. I'm dead. See how quickly I died and they died. Yeah, it's that type of game. So, we've got an overview of the map here. Different spawn points. Alpha is under attack. And if we look at the squads here, different squads, different roles that you can play. So, I picked the marksman right now. So, I've got the kind of looks like an M14. I don't know if they've called it that though. 1911 grenade and bandages in case you get shot and you bleed. We're already up. Hit the squad spawn. We got to defend a They're actually capping it.
So, you can see at the top there, number of tickets as well. So, we've got tickets and they've got tickets. They're going to be in that red house there. I tried to ping there with middle mouse, but I think middle mouse in this game is bayonet. Do I have a bayonet? Oh, I do. Nice stickum. I'm not sure how that affects accuracy though, so I'm going to take it off. I just see a Russian over there. I did. Damn it. We're being flanked. I don't want to get too close with this gun, obviously. But we switch to the 1911 if I need it.
Where's that guy gone? Oh, I got a bandage now. I'm very concerned. I can hear an AK or a Pesk over there. I think the enemy's taking alpha. Oh, they got alpha sector lost. Fall back now. We got to fall back. So, it's kind of like breakthrough in that sense that you um Good night. You take the objectives when you're attacking, then you move on to the next ones. So, I can't go past that right now. Got a bandage. You get a limited number of bandages, of course, so you can't just infinitely heal over and over again.
And you're going to see artillery strikes and rocket barges coming, too. I don't know if it's just the commander that can do that. [ __ ] that's close. Or some of the squad leads. Yeah, that is close. Some friendly there. I don't know where that arter Oh my god, it's right on top of me. I need a good sniper position really. The game does have 3D rendered scopes as well if you want that. But obviously that's going to hit your frame rate quite bad. So I haven't turned that on. Everything else is maxed out as much as it can be right now.
It's an AK. I'm being shot at. So I'm going to fire. Get some cover. Can I see who was doing that? You can pronly and I like that. Going to do a big wide flank here if I can get across the road. That was a nice sound. Whatever gun that guy's got. Maybe I'll go here. Smoke incoming. Okay, guy there. He's gone. One further back there as well. Is he just patrolling? Can you see me? No. There. Bye-bye. Well, I've been made, so I'm going to move. I'm right behind him. No, got to reload. Reload.
Reload. Did that guy work it out? Oh, no. That was a nice little flank there. I believe there are tanks as well. I just spawned on that command post there. I don't know if there's any tanks on this map, though. What am I looking at here? I think there's an enemy down on the left, maybe. Give me a shot. Oh, right in the head. I'm going to try and work that flank again while they're attacking me. Oh jeez, that was violent. They're going to take it. They're going to take it. Okay. Right. We got to fall back.
Let's relocate. Fall back. It's just one point next time. I mean, that's going to be mad. Oh, this is the bunker down here. Look at this big old Cold War bunker. That's cool. And marksman rifle in here isn't great, is it? Unless I can find a long corridor or something. Server room, is it? And this is the objective itself. This is like that scene in Rogue One. Is Darth Vader going to come through there and ruin everyone? Good luck to anyone that tries to get through this door right now. Oh, I see a shadow. Look at these grenades rolling around.
Shoot it and explode it. Grenades coming in. Watch out, mate. Don't go out there. Is that John Rambo? That's Jason Bourne. Okay, Jason's dead. Sorry, Jason. Not a good idea. More grenades coming in. Jeez. Okay, they want to get in here. He's dead. Maybe I'm Darth Vader in this scenario. Okay, I got three there. I've got a bandage though. Nade it. HEADS UP. GRENADE OUT. Get the bandage on. I'm going to bleed to death. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Come on. Bandage. Okay, that was close. Got to reload. Am I dead when I peek here?
I don't know. There's smoke. I can't see anything. This is horrible. I mean, they could just ping a grenade in as well. And I'm liable to be flanked. Creeping barrage is incoming. Get ready to follow it in. Right here. See what I mean about the insta kill? He's dead. More. Let's go. Oh, he hit me. Ah, he got me. Nice peak. Really nice peak. Was I the last one holding that? That was wild. We spawn a long, long way away from that point. Oh, I didn't expect someone to be there. I think the game's got penetration, too.
So, you can shoot through services. Get a better look out here. Little crack here that I could use. He's bleeding. That guy just spawn in. I feel like he did. And you can see you got stamina at the bottom there, too. So, you can't infinitely sprint. I'm not sure if the weight affects your stamina. Maybe it does. We're low on reinforcements, but so are they. They've got to take D. The thing is, if that goes all the way down, that's it. You can't respawn. Maybe I get the high ground here. Climb the ladder. Can I get on the roof?
I'm not sure. Just going to try not to die. That guy's bleeding. So, somebody had an angle on him. Let's go up. I need a nice window or balcony. Oh my god, bullets whipping in there. Pick this window. Oh, is that an AK? There's somebody there. And now his head's gone. Oh my god. No reinforcements. They've got 11. Oh my god. Okay, I've got to try and survive and defend the point. Take cover. This is going to get crazy. I don't know where they are right now. The enemy are out of reinforcements. He just shoot Oh my god, he just shot someone there.
Anyone at the front? Not that I can see Damn it. Oh, Russian came in. He's dead. Another one dead. Grenade. Move. Move. They're fragging the building. Fire that. Let's get reload. Cover me. I'm going to try my best to defend this. White phosphorus incoming. They below me on the right. That's a friendly. Am I going to get hit by this white phosphorus? I hope not. Get your head down. Peek the window. That was a bit risky. I don't know why I did that. Did I see movement there? I'm just holding right now. I'm like a bastion.
Oh my god. They're putting grenades in there. Oh, come on. Come on. Peek it. I can hear all sorts of footsteps outside. They're moving in up high. Dead. Oh, come on. Come on. Come on. Can they be on my left? Maybe. I don't know if there's some stairs there, too. I think there is. And they're out capping us now. Oh my god, my heart is pounding right now. This is crazy. No enemies on the point. Good. I hear a footstep underneath me. Maybe teammate just got another kill there, too. McDonald's opens the store here in 20 years.
I just saw in the chat there. I don't think they will. What are we looking at? Has he spotted somebody? Oh no, they're on the objective. Not dead. Is there another one in there? I don't know. I'm going to frag it just in case. Frag grenade out. Any movement? No. I swear I can hear footsteps underneath me. Like here somewhere. Oh, gunshots. That sounds like an M16 though. No one out there that I can see. That's obvious. That's a friendly. And I could go check the front here. Don't see anyone back there. Oh, there. Taking fire.
Got him. Might have another player back there. They've run out of time. They've only got four minutes. Oh, someone running. That friendly. I don't know if that's friendly. Yeah, it is. Thank God for that. All right, a teammate's venturing out. Let's see if he gets killed. He's on the front side of the concrete building. Okay, he just got one. What an absolute legend. The enem is running out of time. That's a real Jason Bourne. Gunshot. Oh, he's on the point below me. Yes, one shot. Let's go. That was crazy, man. Switching sides. That was a great game.
Wow. GG. Yeah. Hopefully that gives you a bit of a taste of 83. Obviously, I was just playing as the marksman class there, but there are all sorts of different classes available. Got really tense at the end there. I wanted to win that. I know it doesn't really mean anything, but yeah, had to dig deep. Got the win. GG. Like I said, the game has just gone into early access, but maybe this is something that you'd be interested in checking out if you played those Rising Store games or the old Red Orchestra mod back in the days.
Kind of similar vibe, but obviously more modern setting. Anyways, guys, drop a like below. Thank you. That's a great way to help support me. Subscribe if you're new here, and I'll see you next time. And bye-bye.
