Summary
Shane Hummus explains a surprising shift on YouTube in 2026: creators with little experience, basic equipment, and minimal editing are outperforming polish-heavy productions. Projects like Ian on YouTube prove you don’t need a big team or high-budget thumbnails to earn substantial ad revenue and donations. Shane highlights channels that succeed by speaking to everyday life—whether it’s a dead-end retail job, self-development lessons, or everyday trades—rather than chasing Hollywood production values. He argues the algorithm now rewards authenticity and relatability, not perfection. The video also covers monetization strategies beyond AdSense, including back-end offers and niche-focused courses, and shares examples from clients who’ve scaled to six- and seven-figure months. Throughout, Shane invites viewers to a free live workshop and promotes his AI niche validator as a tool to find profitable topics quickly. The core message: being “normal” may be your strongest asset in 2026’s YouTube landscape.
Key Takeaways
- YouTube’s algorithm in 2026 rewards ordinary-looking creators who post simple, relatable content over high-production videos.
- Ian on YouTube earns roughly 7K–21K per month from AdSense alone, with additional donations potentially reaching 10K in a single video.
- Channels like Nero Knowledge monetize through back-end strategies (e.g., whiteboard explainers) and can reach about 30K per month without relying solely on AdSense.
- Many successful creators rely on niche topics and everyday experiences (e.g., tech sales, HVAC repairs, or travel), rather than chasing generic trends.
- Back-end monetization (courses, consulting, and sponsored partnerships) powers substantial income beyond ad revenue for many top creators.
- Barely Jazz, Outdoor Boys, and similar channels demonstrate that minimalistic thumbnails and straightforward content can generate significant ad revenue.
- A structured plan to start or fix a YouTube channel, including niche validation and a live workshop, can accelerate monetization for new creators.

So, right now as we speak, there are people with zero experience, terrible cameras, and basic editing skills that are blowing up on YouTube and pulling in 10 or even 20,000 dollars a month, and it's not taking them years. In many cases, they're doing it right away within the first month after they start posting. And the crazy thing is, they're doing it by breaking every rule that you've been told about making viral content. So, while everyone else is obsessing over perfect thumbnails, Hollywood-level production, and copying what Mr. Beast, Casey Neistat, et cetera, are doing, these normal people figured out something that the algorithm is secretly rewarding in 2026.
They're not spending hundreds of hours editing a single video, they're not hiring video editors or script writers, an entire team. Heck, they're not even writing or editing their own videos in most cases. Instead, they've discovered that the YouTube algorithm has fundamentally shifted, and it's now punishing the overproduced content that used to dominate the platform. And the creators that are making the most money right now are the ones who look and sound like your next-door neighbor, not like a Netflix documentary. So, in this video, I'm going to show you the exact strategies that they're using, why this shift is creating the biggest opportunity for new creators that we've ever seen, and most importantly, how you can start implementing this today.
And by the end of this video, you'll understand why being normal might actually be your biggest advantage right now, and why everything that you've been told about YouTube success is about to change. So, if you appreciate me making this type of content, let me know by gently tapping that like button, and let's jump in with the number one creator that we're going to highlight, and that is Ian on YouTube. So, he posted this video, Why am I 30 years old working a dead-end retail job? And if you think that you have absolutely nothing else to talk about on YouTube, well, most people in Ian's position would have thought the same exact thing.
Because Ian on YouTube's video is just him recording his retail job. No edits in most cases or very minimal editing, and the thumbnail is just a screenshot of his video. have got that on camera. That would have been pretty And at the time of recording this video, he's making about 7 to 21,000 dollars a month just in AdSense revenue alone. Those are the ads that pop up on his channel, and that's his cut that he personally gets. But that's not all, because Ian on YouTube also gets tons of donations in his comment section from his viewers.
In fact, many of them are donating 500 dollars. And in this one video alone, he likely has 10,000 dollars of donations. So, a ton of people relate to the fact that he's over 30 years old and stuck in a dead-end job. maybe they were stuck in a dead-end job at some point, or maybe they are currently stuck in a dead-end job, and it's really relatable to them. So, if you're in a bad situation, chances are there's millions of other people out there in the same exact bad situation, make content about it. Now, you might be thinking, well, I have nothing to talk about.
Well, there are a bunch of channels that talk about random things that they're interested in. An example of that is Nero Knowledge. So, you don't have a dead-end job. Well, this guy talks about the most random things about self-development. His most-viewed video is how to outsmart the game of reality. 90% dudes. Reality is a game. And this video made over 2,000 dollars, and the thumbnail is just an image of him from the video. And when it comes to AdSense, he's making a decent amount of money per month, but this is not a channel that makes money from AdSense.
This is a channel that makes money from back-end monetization. And I can almost guarantee you that he's making at least 30,000 dollars a month from this channel just teaching things that he learns on a whiteboard. That's it. So, he learns stuff about self-development and success, he synthesizes it into his own way of explaining it, and then he explains it, and he draws on the whiteboard, and people love it, and they eat it up. basically learning things, and then he's sharing what he learned in public. Another way of explaining this is he is building in public, which is a great way to start making content if you're not sure how to do it.
All right, quick break. I'm hanging out with my brother Zach right now, and I just wanted to let you know that this week we are hosting a free one-time live workshop. So, one thing that people struggle with the most is finding their niche, and that is why we actually created an AI called the niche validator that's going to help you find your niche, or help you dial in your niche if you already have one. And we're going to be giving away this niche validator this week at a live workshop, and it's called The YouTube Content Advantage for Making Money in 2026.
If you're struggling to find your niche, or you don't want to commit months or even years to a niche that ends up not being profitable, then this is for you. So, click the link in the description and the pinned comment below. Once you register, hit add to calendar so it shows up on your Google, Apple, or Outlook calendar. And if for whatever reason you're watching this in the future, still check the link in the description and the pinned comment below, cuz we may be doing another live workshop in the future, and it'll tell you when.
Now, you'll also be able to ask me questions live, so I look forward to meeting you. And you'll also get an update on how this guy is doing on YouTube as well. So, see you this week, and back to your regularly scheduled programming. All right, number three is Antwon Wade from Black Heights Education. So, you can talk about how to get better at your job just like Antwon. So, he's living a normal life, he's a father with two kids, and he's also in tech sales, and he makes seven figures from YouTube. And he's actually one of my clients, and I helped him grow on YouTube and really automate his channel.
Meet Antwon Wade, who's an expert who helps And I can promise you that he's making really, really good money from his different businesses as well as YouTube. Or Bill Hanna from The Financial Controller. Now, he sells a financial controller course, and he's another one of my clients that worked with me, and during working with me, he had a 70,000 dollar month from his YouTube channel. Today's video, I'm going to show you how to read and analyze the balance And by the way, if you want to know how I helped all these people grow, I don't gatekeep this information, I actually give it away completely free, but it's the kind of information where it has to be given away in a live workshop.
So, I'm going to be doing that this week. Click the link in the description and the pinned comment below to attend this live workshop where I'll be telling you all the sauce. You can literally ask me any question, I'm an open book, I'll tell you exactly how to grow and make money on YouTube. So, don't miss out on it, it's a one-time live event. Attend this week by clicking that link in the below, and I look forward to seeing you there. Number five is Outdoor Boys, and his name is Luke Nichols, and basically when it comes to monetization, he has massive amounts of ad revenue.
Plus, he has sponsorships, and he probably makes money from affiliate marketing as well. And on some days, he makes as much or more than 90% of people in this world make in one day of work, which is pretty crazy. Right, so he makes the yearly salary of most people in one day. And he gained 12 million subscribers in just 18 months, and he exploded into mainstream success early. And this is his second most popular video. And this is his most popular video. And basically, he's just a normal dude who just likes to travel the world and spend time outside.
And before he was traveling the world, he was mostly just spending time outside, and he would film it, spend his time outside with his family doing outdoor stuff, and then he posts it to YouTube. But it's not just him, check out Madison Clydesdale. She's got a similar channel to Outdoor Boys, but she's got a lower subscriber count. For instance, she's got this video, 12 Days Hiking to Everest Base Camp, I Got Sick. next 12 days, we will be in the middle of the Himalayas And she earned over 12,000 dollars with this video alone from AdSense.
And she's got really simple thumbnails, usually they're just like a picture of her from the video, and she's making thousands of dollars a month. Plus, if she's monetizing correctly, she's making a lot more than that. Or how about this channel right here, Barely Jazz. This channel just started four months ago, and the video's either still images with just minimal movement with just smoke popping out from the cigarette with the background music, and it's got AI-generated thumbnails, and they're making thousands of dollars a month. Very, very simple content. Like any normal person can make this using AI with a tiny bit of AI knowledge.
You know, they could use a tool like Suno, for instance, to generate the music, or Nano Banana to generate the images, and that's it. All right, so the next thing that I hear a lot of people ask is, How do I get views? Well, you upload very simple videos one to three times a week. So, let me give you an example. Noah Kuaqu. This video right here, You'll See This When God Knows You're Ready to See It. If you're watching this right now, it wasn't by coincidence. And his videos are basically just him mostly reading some Bible phrases.
And he earned an estimated 20,000 dollars from this video alone in just six months. And there's no B-roll, and his video is about four to 12 minutes long. Very, very simple. Or how about this guy, HVAC. He's an HVAC technician who films everyday heating and air conditioning repairs directly from his job sites. He's got really authentic job site footage, he films himself working on actual HVAC repairs. You got the troubleshooting, the heating, the AC systems, and of course, he's interacting with customers. And the thumbnail of his most-viewed video only has a screenshot of what he's about to clean.
That's it. And he's making thousands of dollars a month doing this. But you might have another objection, oh, how do I make money? Because some of these people are making money just from AdSense alone, but a lot of them have to rely on back-end monetization. There's a bunch of different ways you can do this, right? So, there's a bunch of channels seemingly from normal people who make money beyond AdSense. And typically, they're helping people with a very specific and niche problem. So, an example of this is my client Nicole Annese from GRC for Mere Mortals.
Best time to get started in cybersecurity what Her total views at the time of making this video are about 14,000 every month. She doesn't have to get that many views, and when I was working with her, the last time I checked with her, she had an over 80,000 dollar month. So, she's absolutely crushing it, and she shows that you don't need to get a lot of views to make money. Now, by the way, another one of my clients is Sean Dolwitt. He does get a lot of views, and he monetizes well, too. So, he was stuck making around 30,000 dollars a month for a very long time, and we helped him scale all the way up to over 500,000 dollars a month.
I've been doing YouTube for a couple years, I think when I started If you want to know how we did that, again, attend the live training, click that link in the description and the pinned comment below. And you'll see examples of a bunch of my clients and a bunch of other people that are crushing it even harder than me or any of my clients. And we're going to show you some of the biggest secrets when it comes to picking the right niches and the right video ideas. And then, once you pick that, figuring out how to properly monetize it as well.
That's what we're going to be going over, plus we're going to do a step-by-step guide to get started or fix your channel if you started it in the wrong way. And I'm going to be answering all of your questions for as long as you need. Additionally, this is a one-time live workshop, and I'm going to be giving away an AI that helps you pick your niche. This is an updated version of the AI, we've been working on it really hard lately, and it's super, super good, and it helps people pick their niche, and it helps people with the entire process, and we're only giving it away this one time, as well as the bonuses that we'll talk about at the end.
So, don't miss out on that. Click the link in the description and the pin comment below. I look forward to seeing you there. And I know that 99% of people who watch my videos are never going to work with me one-on-one, and that's completely fine. But, if you're a business owner who wants to grow and make money on YouTube, if you're a YouTuber who's crushing it and you want to crush it even harder like Sean, if you're a YouTuber who's getting a lot of views but you're struggling with monetization, or if you're somebody who really wants to take YouTube seriously, then go ahead and book a call with me down in the description and the pin comment below.
On this call, we'll figure out where you are right now, where you want to be, we'll make a plan to get there, and we'll see if we're a good fit to work together or not. We are very picky about who we work with cuz we only want to work with people that we know we can get results for. We only accept about 18% of people into the program, but if you think you're a good fit, go ahead and book the call because there's nothing to lose. You'll get value out of the call whether we end up working together or not.
And also, check out this video right here where I go over exactly how we helped Sean grow and make money from his channel.
