Summary

Shane Hummus walks through five seemingly boring YouTube formats that nevertheless turn into six-figure channels. He showcases real-world examples like Story Time at Anie’s House, Detail Geek, Handson Tutorials, Lock Noob, and parallels to Lockpicking Lawyer to illustrate how mundane topics can monetize aggressively. The video emphasizes that most earnings come from back-end monetization beyond AdSense, including book deals, merch, affiliate links, and product bundles. Shane points out that channels with strong monetization often underestimate earnings from AdSense, and he personally boasts higher ROI when diversifying revenue. He calls out Harper Collins partnerships and Amazon book sales as cases where brand deals boost revenue well beyond ad revenue alone. Throughout, he pepperizes practical takeaways: you don’t need massive views to make money if you monetize the right way. A quick workshop plug invites viewers to learn more about niche validation and one-on-one coaching, underscoring his broader strategy for turning content into a business. The core message remains: boring formats can print money if you optimize monetization and leverage multiple revenue streams.

Key Takeaways

  • Story Time at Anie’s House earns six figures annually from AdSense, with VidIQ and ViewStats estimates of roughly $6k–$20k/mo, plus book deals with Harper Collins and Amazon sales that likely boost revenue.
  • Detail Geek earns about $11k–$38k/mo from AdSense alone, with a hit video reaching 30 million views and $149k in one instance, while selling detailing gear and services.
  • Lock Noob shows $1k–$4k/mo from AdSense, but one video garnered $19k, and merch/3D-printed accessories create meaningful additional income streams.
  • Monetization is often amplified by back-end sales (merch, gear, books, courses) and brand partnerships rather than relying solely on ad revenue.
  • Channels with niche expertise (e.g., trades or specialized hobbies) can reach full-time income quickly by combining content with products, services, and affiliate links.
  • A data-backed approach to monetization can outperform generic ad-centric models, especially when creators train audiences to buy complementary products or services.
  • A live workshop and a high-ticket coaching offer (Niche Validator Pro 1.5) illustrate how Shane Hummus helps creators scale beyond views.

All right, guys. So, I've got five boring formats that lead to sixfigure YouTube channels. I'm going to be showing you a bunch of these. They're going to be boring. They're going to be a bit weird. A lot of these may inspire or motivate you. And that's really the purpose of this video is I want to show you all of the weird, boring formats that nobody ever talks about that are just printing money on YouTube. And very likely you will resonate with one or two of these and it might lead to you actually starting a YouTube channel or maybe pivoting your existing YouTube channel to this type of content. And it's not necessarily meant for you to copy these channels exactly, but just to be inspired by them and also just to see that there's many different ways of making money. Now, with these channels, it's going to be relatively obvious that they're making money just because the amount of views they're getting, at least most of the channels. But there's a lot of channels out there where it's not nearly as obvious. And I'm going to talk about those as well and how you can tell that they're making money because there's a lot of channels that don't need to get a lot of views to make money cuz they're mostly monetizing on the back end by selling stuff. So, if you appreciate me making this type of content, let me know by gently tapping that like button. And let's jump into it right now with the first one on the list, which is story time at Anie's House. Now, these children's education channels are not only some of the most lucrative, but they're also some of the most sellable in many cases channels out there. And what I mean by that is the channel Coco Melon and a conglomerate of children's YouTube channels were actually sold for a few hundred million and then later on $3 billion. Additionally, the channel Blippy was sold for over $und00 million as well. And then while they were operating the channel, they were making a ton of money. Now those are the massive channels. Those are the absolute 0.00001% just total winners that just dominated the market. But there's a lot of these much smaller channels that are still doing extremely well. And Story Time at Anie's House is one of those channels. And they basically specialize in telling stories. So this channel is making about $6 to $17,000 a month according to Vid IQ. And according to view stats, they're making about $7.3 to $20,000 a month. And keep in mind, this is just from AdSense. So AdSense are the ads that pop up on your channel. And you actually get the majority of the revenue that comes from those ads. about 55%. And so this is how much they're making from the ads as approximated by Vid IQ and View Stats. So they're probably making six figures a year easily just from ads alone, especially considering the fact that typically Vue Stats and Vid IQ underestimate how much money they're making from ads. For instance, on my channel, they usually underestimate by quite a bit. But if you look at her videos, she's actually partnered with Harper Collins, which is a massive, massive book and education company, and she's also selling her books on her Amazon store. Plus, she's got other stuff that she sells on her channel. So, she probably has a really good deal with Harper Collins to basically be under their brand. And then Harper Collins likely distributes a lot of her other stuff and takes care of a lot of the business side of things. And then, additionally, she's selling her own books on Amazon. So, she is likely monetizing far far better than just the money that she's making from AdSense alone. David goes to school. If you have a copy, go get it. And that's one thing that I really like to work with when it comes to YouTubers, cuz I found that most YouTubers are really bad at monetization. And for instance, we've been able to literally 10x the amount of money that YouTubers are making in many cases. For instance, with Sean, when we were able to take him from like $30,000 a month all the way up to over $500,000 a month. All right, quick break, guys. Click that link in the description in the pin comment below to sign up and make sure you put it in your calendar. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. All right. Next channel I want to go over is the Detail Geek. And this is a car detailing channel. And their most popular videos are when they take super super nasty, messy, just disgusting cars and they clean them up and make them look almost brand new. Here's the enormous pile of garbage. And they make about 13 to $38,000 a month. And that's just from AdSense alone. And that's according to Vid IQ. According to view stats, they're making about 11 to $30,000 a month. And their most popular video ever, deep cleaning the nastiest vehicle I've ever seen, insane 18-hour detailing transformation, got 30 million views and made $149,000. And they've also got different stuff that they sell here, like a detail geek autocare website, detail website, and you can see that they've also got merch in the description. They've got a pressure washer that they use, all the different tools they use. they've got affiliate links for them, etc., etc. So, basically, they have a ton of different other ways that you can monetize. You know, whether you're somebody who wants to buy the best detailing equipment or maybe even somebody who wants to start a detailing business themselves, they've got a ton of different things that they can use to help you monetize. So, they're likely making far far more than just the 13 to $38,000 a month. So, yeah, very interesting channel. Um, mostly entertainment, but also somewhat educational. They actually do talk about how they clean the different types of cars and stuff. And yeah, just a really cool channel overall. And this just goes to show there's so many different ways you can make money. Sometimes you can literally just make money doing what you're already doing anyways, but recording it. Or in many cases, you can make money just literally talking about stuff that's common sense to you because you've been doing it so long. So an example of that is Zach of all trades. He's been in the trades for 30 years, so he knows a lot about the trades. Pretty much all of his friends are in the trades as well. So, he knows the pros and cons of a lot of these different trade careers. And so, to him, it's very easy for him to talk about, you know, which trades are good, which ones aren't, or the positive aspects of some trades versus others, etc. And that's exactly what he does with his videos. And he also happens to be my brother. And he started his channel last year on May 26th. And less than one month later, he was already making $214 a day from his channel. Additionally, I'm going to be giving you updates on the live that we do this week. So, we're doing a live workshop this week. So, click that link in the description, the pin comment below. Zach might even show up to it, and I'll be giving you updates on how he's doing. So, definitely do not miss out on that. So, yeah, this video, for instance, got 819,000 views. It says here he made about 4,000 from the video, but I can tell you he's making a lot more than that. So, today we're blowing the lid off the whole thing. And in his first year, he is absolutely crushing it on YouTube. And he's not even done with the first year yet. Not even close. All right, next one is handson tutorials. And this kind of goes on that same theme of a boring format, right? Because talking about careers is boring. Um, you know, cleaning cars, all this kind of thing is boring. This is another one where it's probably something that you're really good at, you've been doing for a long time, and it may be even boring to you, but it's fascinating to other people. And here's one example of that, and that is Lock Noob. Now, it says he's making about $1,000 to $4,000 a month. And again, that's just from AdSense alone, but if you look at his most popular video, he made $19,000 on a single video. Of course, we need to replicate the two actions that he provides. This video probably took him a couple hours to make, so that's pretty good ROI on his money. But more than that, a lot of channels like this don't necessarily need to get a ton of views to make a ton of money. Because if you look in his comment section, you can see that he's got merch, he's got lock noob lock holder for 3D printers, and he's got lock nude pinning tray. So basically, he sells a bunch of lockpicking related stuff. And I'm sure he makes way more money from that than he does from the channel itself. But even if not, this is a great example of a channel that is minimum making a few thousand extra dollars a month. Like they're making a full-time income and they're doing it by doing something that they love. I mean, honestly, their videos are pretty simple. It might be kind of boring to them, but it's fascinating to other people. And if you want to get technical, there are channels like The Lockpicking Lawyer who have gotten 1.2 billion views. And it says they're making 4.8K to 13K per month. It's almost always on the lower side. So, chances are they are making at least 13K a month. Plus, they've got videos like this. We put the first one in like so. The second one at a 90° angle. So, if they're making 182,000 from one video, they are definitely making a full-time income from this channel. And it's going to be at least a six-figure income. And by the way, if I'm wrong about how much anyone is making, it's because they're not monetizing correctly. Just as an example, on my channel, I make about $20 per 1,000 views just from AdSense alone, but I make well over $400 per 1,000 views. And that's with a mass market channel from other things that I sell. Now, I have a niche channel where I make about $4,000 or more per 1,000 views as well. That channel is targeted towards more businesses, right? So, I don't need to get nearly as many views to make as much money. And it all comes down to just monetizing the correct way on the back end, which most YouTubers do not do. And so, if you want to learn how to do it correctly, go ahead and click the link in the description to attend the live training. Additionally, we do work with people one-on-one, but we only work with a certain type of person. Basically, it's going to look like this. Either business owners that want to use YouTube to get more leads for their business, YouTubers who are getting views, but struggling to monetize, YouTubers who are crushing it. They're getting views, they're monetizing, but they want to crush it even more. or people that really want to take YouTube seriously, right? So, if you're a beginner, but you really want to take it seriously, there's a chance we may work with you as well, but only if you're ready to start now and you really want to take it seriously. So, if that sounds like you, go ahead and click the link in the description and the pin comment below to book a call with us. If it's not in there, then it might be in our about section. Sometimes we don't put it in the videos. And additionally, if you want to see example of students that we've worked with that we've helped absolutely blow up their YouTube channel and their business, go ahead and click this video right here and you can see a great example.
