Summary

Shane Hummus walks through six accessible business ideas that require minimal upfront capital but deliver real earnings with consistent work. He kicks off with quirky yet practical concepts like shaped fruit growing, which can start under $100 and has viral potential on social media. He then moves to handmade jewelry, citing a success story of 500,000 bracelets sold and scaling to 1 million in revenue with a starting budget under $300. Meal prep businesses are highlighted as a high-demand, scalable option, with real examples of teams growing from 200 bowls per week to 10,000 bowls per month and $1.8 million in sales. Pyrography (wood burning) is presented as a sub-$200 craft with emotional, personalized products. Shane also covers vintage and thrift flipping, sharing Bethany Hall’s path from a 64-cent scarf to a fashion brand doing $20,000 per month, plus the potential for a physical store. Finally, he nods to handyman or trades-based ventures, noting the accessibility of non-licensed gigs and a hybrid YouTube system that can drive substantial daily revenue. Throughout, he emphasizes documenting the process as powerful marketing and invites viewers to his free live workshop to learn more about monetizing niches and growing with YouTube.

  • Handmade jewelry can be started with under $300 and has produced dramatic income, as shown by Carrie Bilson’s half-a-million bracelets sold and scaling to $1 million.
  • Meal prep businesses benefit from growing demand and can reach $60,000 per month in revenue for some operators, with initial costs around $500 and potential scale to 10,000 bowls monthly.
  • Pyrography wood-burning art offers a low-cost entry (<$200) with high-emotional value in custom signs and decor, turning hobbyists into full-time sellers.
  • Vintage and thrift flipping can transform a tiny investment (as low as 50–200) into a multi‑channel brand doing tens of thousands per month, demonstrated by Bethany Hall’s story.
  • Handyman or trades-based ventures are accessible with minimal licensing in some niches, and pairing them with YouTube can yield significant daily revenue (example: $200/day for a channel supporting a trades business).

Not everyone has access to business loans or family money to fund their entrepreneurial dreams. For people working with tight budgets, the question becomes, what can you actually afford to start without going into debt? And $500 might seem limiting, but it's enough for many service-based and skill-based businesses that can generate real income with consistent effort and smart execution. And today I'm going to be breaking down some of my favorite types of businesses that prove you don't need big money to get started, just the right approach and willingness to put in the work required to build something sustainable. So, if you appreciate me doing this type of video, let me know by gently tapping that like button. Let's jump into it right now with number one on the list. And you guys know I like to start these lists off with weird ones and then go into other ones that might be a little bit more boring and stable. But with that being said, number one is shaped fruit growing. Yes, shaped fruit. You heard that right. Growing fruits in molds to make them look like hearts and stars or whatever. And I know you're thinking, this guy's lost his mind. This can't possibly make me a bunch of money. But listen, the starting cost is little as less than 100 bucks. Molds, seeds, basic gardening stuff. That's about it. And there's tons of demonstration videos on YouTube showing the whole process. And people are going viral on social media with this stuff. For instance, this video right here, mold shapes growing fruits into hearts and stars made about $18,000. So yeah, not only can you make money doing this, but you could potentially make content online, either educational content or just entertainment content. And making the content is how you can actually market your products and services. And that'll be a recurring theme in all of these ones that I talk about today. And there's tons of people out there doing it. It's one of the most accessible online businesses you can possibly do. So basically do a normal business and then just record what you're doing and that's your marketing for the business. In many cases can make more money than marketing than you do from your normal business. And by the way, if you want to know exactly how to do this, I have a completely free live training. This is going to be a workshop where I reveal my most important secrets to growing and making money on YouTube. Growing this million subscriber YouTube channel for instance, and getting to multiple six figures per month. And this is going to be for everyone, whether you're a complete beginner that's never done YouTube, or you want to make a faceless channel, or you want to do a personal brand channel, you know, YouTube automation, or you're a business owner that's trying to scale your business. This is going to be useful for everyone cuz I'm going over the most important things. And I'm going to be showing you how you can do all of it in just a few hours a week. So don't miss out on it. It'll be down the description and the pin comment below. It's completely free. Make sure you come. Make sure you're ready to take notes and make sure you're ready to meet me cuz you can ask me questions directly. So I look forward to seeing you there. So yeah, this is a really interesting, weird, unique way of making money. And Frankenstein pumpkins cost $50. So imagine selling 50 of these pumpkins, you can earn $2,500 from that. All right, next one is handmade jewelry. And this is something that might sound oversaturated, right? You probably see lots of handmade jewelry when you go to local fairs or any type of local events, but did you realize you can actually sell handmade jewelry online? And the fact that it's handmade is what makes it valuable. For instance, Carrie Bilson sold 500,000 bracelets, half a million, from her lounge floor. And she started making bracelets as a side hustle. Nothing fancy, just her, some beads, and a dream to make extra cash. And she didn't just stop at extra cash. She scaled it to 1 million, all from bracelets. And the starting cost here is probably less than $300. And I've run into a ton of people making a full-time income selling these handmade crafts on Etsy. And again, a great place to advertise this is YouTube. And then you can take the content on YouTube and syndicate it to a bunch of different platforms as well, like TikTok, Instagram Reels, etc. So yeah, another really good one, another group of people that are absolutely crushing it. And the smartest way to do it is to just document your journey and put stuff out on YouTube because that's a great way to market your business. All right, quick break. This week I'm doing a one-time-only workshop where I talk about how to finally make money from youtube.com in 2026. And you can check it out down the description and the pin comment below. At this workshop, I'm going to be giving away the niche validator pro completely free. This is a GPT-powered by a piece of software that I've been working on for a long time now, and it's been trained on thousands of hours of my teaching, coaching sessions, and more. So you don't have to spend years to pick a profitable niche. You can do it in a matter of minutes. Heck, it's even possible to do it in seconds sometimes. And I'm going to be giving this away at the workshop. So make sure you click the link in the description and then show up to the workshop. And the best way to do that is to make sure you add it to your calendar once you've signed up for it. So you basically just click add this to your calendar once you're on the thank you page after you've registered. And it'll show up as either Google, Apple, or Outlook calendar, whatever calendar you have. So you can make sure you won't miss the chance to grab the niche validator pro completely free. And you'll also be able to ask me questions live. So I look forward to meeting you. Can't wait to see you there. I'm going to be showing you this new opportunity. It's completely free and it's amazing whether you basically want to use it to get a better job, use it to network, use it to make some passive income, start a side hustle, make a full-time income, or even start a full-on business. It works incredibly well with all of those and it's completely free. So make sure you click the link in the description and then show up to your workshop. And now back to your regularly scheduled content. All right, number three is a meal prep business. And this one hits differently because I've seen the numbers. And this is based on data from eight successful meal prep businesses. Now the median startup cost is probably around $500. In fact, you might have everything you need already in your kitchen. But let's just assume you don't. 500 bucks to tap into a market that's absolutely exploding. Why? Because people are busier than ever and they want to eat well, but they don't have time to cook. And they're tired of takeout, right? They need a solution and you become that solution. So for instance, TJ Clark and his co-founder started Healthy Chew in Little Rock, Arkansas with less than $500 and a simple idea, make calorie-friendly versions of foods that people actually want to eat. And they went from selling 200 bowls a week out of their kitchen to moving 10,000 bowls a month and hitting 1.8 million in sales. And now they're pulling in $60,000 a month because they figured out that people don't want to choose between eating healthy and eating food that tastes good. And the key isn't just cooking good food, it's understanding that you're selling time, you're selling peace of mind, and you're selling the feeling of having your together. And global surveys show that demand for food delivery is rising faster than most people can keep up with. And this isn't a trend, this is the future of how people eat. And people love fresh homemade food. So start local, build a reputation, and scale from there. And a pro tip here is you can specialize in certain types of food or certain diets. So for instance, you could specialize in keto foods specifically. And there are meal prep businesses out there making $600,000 a month just in local businesses. So this is a huge booming business right now. All right, next I got another weird one for you and that is pyrography, which is basically wood burning art. And you can start this one for under $200. And let me tell you some people who figured this out. There's Jenny known as Burn Boss and they built a successful business around wood burning art. And basically what happened is during the quarantine when everyone was stuck at home and jobs were disappearing, people on Reddit started turning their pyrography hobby into real income. And one person posted, "I lost my job during quarantine, so I threw myself into wood burning." And that wasn't just a hobby pivot, but that was survival instinct kicking in and they turned it into a full-time business. And this is where art meets personalization. Custom signs, personalized gifts, home decor with soul. People are desperate for things that feel handmade, that feel real, that feel like they're not mass-produced, and that tell their story. And when someone orders a custom wood sign with their family name, they're not buying lumber with letters burned into it, they're buying a piece of their identity. Something that says, "This is who we are." So this is a great business because low overhead and high emotion for the customer. Perfect combination. So this is something you can do locally, this is something where you can sell it online. And again, it's handcrafted and there's a lot of demand for this type of thing. Now the next business is something that I've done since I was young and that is flipping items. But I'm going to talk about specific type of flipping, which is vintage and thrift flipping. And this is where Bethany Hall's story comes in because it'll blow your mind. So she's walking through a thrift shop and she's probably bored, just browsing, and she spots this vintage scarf. And the price tag is 64 cents. Now most people would have walked right past it, but Bethany saw something different. She saw potential. And she bought that scarf. And she styled it, photographed it, and she built a whole brand story around it. And that 64 cent investment became a foundation for a fashion brand doing $20,000 a month. And she didn't stop there. She opened a physical store in the UK. And she built a real business empire from what other people saw as junk. And the starting cost was 50 to $200 for initial inventory. Now most people just walk into thrift stores and they see junk. You need to see opportunities. And that vintage band tee could be worth 50x what it's priced. That designer bag with a tiny scratch? Easy money. And again, this is something that makes people feel unique. So this is kind of a recurring theme, right? These customized, personalized things make people feel unique. And the less mass market feel there is to it, the more likely they are to buy it, and the more likely they are to spend more money. So yeah, I've done flipping since I was in like middle school. I was always buying and selling stuff and making money off of it. I pretty much did this all throughout my teen years and even into college. And yeah, it's a great way to make some extra money. And you can even turn it into a full-time business. And vintage and thrift flipping can be even better. Oh, and did I mention there's a ton of YouTube channels that talk about this stuff? Yeah, there is. Again, attend the live training down the description and the pin comment below. Don't miss out on it. All right, next is a handyman or trades business. Now to go into the trades to start a business, you typically do have to have some sort of license or certifications for some types of trades. But not all. There's a lot of type of handyman or trade type jobs we can get into it without any certification or any training. And to find out which ones you can do, you can kind of just look on Craigslist or download an app like TaskRabbit. So just as an example, my brother's been in the trades for 29 years now. And he's owned his own HVAC business for a long period of time as well. And he actually just created a YouTube channel where he talks about how you can get into the trades and what types of trades are good to do. He's going to be making some videos on different handyman or trade-related side hustle, so definitely check his channel out. I've been in the trades for 29 years now. But he actually started this channel a month ago and using our hybrid YouTube system, he already scaled his channel to over $200 a day. Not a month, $200 a day. And his very first video blew up to around a half a million views. So again, if you want to know this system for how to be successful on YouTube, for how to blow up your YouTube channel, and how to properly monetize it, and how to do it all without spending that much time, effort, or money, then go ahead attend the live training, check it out now. And also watch this video right here where I go over a case study of exactly how we grew this person's channel and how the hybrid system works. So yeah, check that out right here.
