Summary
Shane Hummus compiles a fascinating gallery of surprisingly lucrative, ultra-simple YouTube formats. He highlights Ren's Cools, Sprite Pics, and Mac Paverick (and others) to show that big earnings don’t always come from polished, high-skill content. Some creators earn lightning-fast money by doing almost nothing, including eight-hour videos and blank-screen setups that rack up millions of views. Shane also items still-art videos like Vintage Art TV, which turns a static image into a one- to two-hour experience and can generate tens of thousands from a single hit, as with the Winterscape video. The reel then shifts to other oddball favorites like Yukon’s horse-and-tree videos and For MAT A Studio’s sushi race concept, illustrating that curiosity and novelty drive traffic. He emphasizes that while these cases are extreme, they prove how flexible the platform can be and why a simple idea often scales with attention. Throughout, Shane also promotes a live, free workshop and a GPT-driven Niche Validator Pro 1.5 tool to help viewers uncover profitable niches and generate viral ideas. He constantly anchors these examples with cautionary notes about risk and reality, reminding viewers that success isn’t guaranteed and that audience discovery still matters.
Key Takeaways

Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. All right. The first amazingly simple way that people are making money on YouTube that we're going to cover is doing nothing. You want to make money doing nothing? Well, that's what this guy literally did for eight hours. This channel is Ren's Cools. So, this guy runs a channel called Rens Cools and he's got about 12,000 subscribers and he has a video called Doing Nothing for 8 hours straight. And in this video, he literally just wore a dress shirt with a tie, put up his camera, and sat there for 8 hours straight doing absolutely nothing.
Now, this video is a little bit old, and view stats is not good at estimating how much older videos make. And so, for 80% of the time this video is out there, it didn't do a good job estimating how much it made. But, this video has made at least $3,000. So, he made $3,000 just sitting there. and doing nothing for eight hours, which would be about $400 an hour. And that's at the minimum. He probably made a lot more than that from this video. But not only that, he followed that video up with one of the most goofy videos I've ever seen, which is another 8 hour video where he's watching himself doing nothing for eight hours straight for eight hours straight.
And this one got him about 151,000 views. So, not as popular, but still pretty good. Now, views didn't estimate this one, but let's just say his previous video made $3,200 from 2.2 million views. That's about $145 per,000 views. So, a video with $151,000 views would be about $220. And that would be about $27 an hour, which is more than the minimum wage. So, still not bad. And of course, I'm not telling you that you should do videos like this where you're doing absolutely nothing. I'm not saying that at all. I'm just showing you this as a way to show that there are many, many different ways of making money on YouTube and there's many different ways of getting views on YouTube and it's not nearly as hard as you think.
The reason his videos did so well is simply because nobody else was doing videos like this, right? Nobody else did videos like this. Nobody else was willing to do videos like this. And because of the fact that he did, it was very novel. It was very interesting. And it got a lot of views. All right. The second one is even more bizarre. Now, if you thought doing nothing was too much work, because let's be honest, sitting there doing nothing is kind of boring. Well, how about just nothing? Like, you don't have to do nothing. It's just nothing.
Yeah, that's the second one we're going to go over. And yes, this is even more bizarre and it's probably going to knock your socks off. Enter Sprite Pics. This channel has about 24,000 subs. And this person had the crazy idea of just posting nothing. They made a video titled 10 hours of nothing. And it's literally just a blank black screen. No audio, nothing. And that video got 14 million views. That means that according to view stats, the video made over $20,000. So he made over $20,000 from nothing. Plain old nothing. Now, this video likely took him 10 minutes to make, maybe 20 max, and he made $20,000.
So, that's I'm guessing he made about $1,000 a minute making this video. So, not a bad return on investment for your time. And the third one is doing a little bit of something, but a similar type of video would be a 100hour countdown timer type video. And that's something that this guy Matt or Mac Paverick posted. He's got about 314,000 subs and according to Vid IQ, this channel earns around $4,000 to $12,000 a month. And if you look at his most popular video, it's a 100hour timer countdown. And it's exactly what it sounds like. It's a 100 hour timer countdown, right?
And it got $31 million views. And according to view stats, he made over $48,000 from this video. But he also did other timers like the 168 hour timer which is approximately one week or I guess it's exactly one week and a 200 hour countdown timer and a 100 hour black screen stream on YouTube etc etc. And these videos all made thousands of dollars. So yeah, you can make money doing nothing. You can make money with nothing or you can make money doing a tiny little bit of work like making a timer or just doing something that's mildly useful to people out there.
Now, if you're still confused about how to find your niche, click the link in the description and attend the live training. All right, so the next is going to be art for your TV. Now, this one is actually very smart and it's so stupidly simple that it's genius and it's basically uploading art to YouTube so that your TV becomes a painting. And this kind of goes against the title of this video because it's actually kind of genius, but at the same time, it's kind of dumb why this is making money. You see, there's a channel called Vintage Art TV.
They've got 78,000 subs. And according to Vid IQ, they make about $1,000 to $3,000 a month. And what they do is upload still images of art. Maybe made with AI, maybe found online. I don't know. Or maybe they just actually made it themselves. Who knows? But they basically make these still images of art into one to two hour videos and it's just a static image. No music. You play it on your TV and your TV becomes like a wall painting. And if you don't think they're making money with this, [laughter] prepare yourself because they are.
This video right here, Winterscape, turn your TV into art, got 17 million views and made $84,000. Yep, that happened. [snorts] [sighs] I don't even know what to say. And speaking of that, let's get to the next one on the list, which is I don't even know what to call this, but it's from the channel Yukon. And look at their profile picture. It's Sven since 2022 kicking trees and farting on dogs. And the channel's got about 46,000 subs. and they basically make videos about animals, mainly horses. And this video, for instance, is called Horse Kicks Tree, Farts on Dog, Then Runs Away.
Now, that's a very nice way to title your video. And when you watch it, you're not going to feel clickbaited because spoiler alert, everything in the title does happen. The horse kicked the tree, the horse farted on the dog, and then the horse ran away. And before the horse did all those things, someone decided to record the horse. And after the horse upload that and that resulted in 58 million views and $294,000 generated, which according to view stats, which is absolutely insane. So yeah, next time you see something weird happening in public, maybe record it and maybe upload it to YouTube and good things might happen.
Like you might be able to buy a new house with the money that you make from the video. Now, the next one is truly one of the weirdest channels I have ever seen in my entire life. And what this channel does is they race sushi. Yes, you heard that right. They race sushi, the food. They race the food. And the channel's name is for MATA Studio, the art of artificial speed. And they make really weird stuff about racing and transportation. But one video really stood out. Turbocharged Sushi Madness. unbelievable speed at an ultra fast conveyor belt sushi restaurant.
Now, it's literally just sushi racing with a speedometer. 1 go. And that video got 2.09 million views and made well over $1,000. But that's not all. There's another video called Formula Sushi Fantastic Race Highlights. And in this video, medium fatty tuna sushi races Atlantic salmon sushi. And it's basically a parody of F1 race highlights, but with racing sushi instead. [screaming] And that video got 1.1 million views and made hundreds of dollars. Now, this is not a full-time income, but it is very, very interesting and very weird and very stupidly simple, so I had to put it in the video.
Now, the next ones I'm going to talk about are all music related. Now, by the way, I'm showing very weird, simple, strange examples in this video. Don't think that you have to do something weird, simple, or strange to make money on YouTube. There's plenty of channels out there making tons of money just making normal content. But what I'm doing with this video is I'm trying to illustrate to you that making money on YouTube is probably a lot simpler than you think, and you're probably just overthinking it. And so, again, I highly recommend you attend that live training.
Click that link in the description in the pin comment below. All right, so I'm going to go over a bunch of different music related channels next. One of them is Epoch GD, and they basically make music parodies, and they usually make them about other weird videos, but one video really stood out, and that video is Mariah Carey, but she needs to sneeze. Now, you know that song, All I Want for Christmas Is You? Well, everyone who has worked in retail, such as myself, or maybe worked in a mall or a place where music plays a lot towards the end of the year, probably hates that song because they hear it about 17,000 times a day.
Well, this video brings justice to all of us supermarket and mall workers because it's just Mariah Carey wanting to sneeze for the entire song. And that video got 6.62 62 million views and made over $33,000, which is absurd. And they had a follow-up video, Mariah Carey Needs to Sneeze again. And that video made about $1,000. So, not as good, but still probably worth their time considering how easy it is to make. Now, the next one is also just as weird, and that is 10 hours of Michael Jackson noises. And it's exactly what it sounds like, 10 hours of Michael Jackson noises.
And this video got 2.7 million views and made over $13,000. Oh, and they kind of made the same video again, just slightly different title. 10 hours of Michael Jackson making noises this time. That one got 1.9 million views and made about $9.8,000. Now, the next one that's music related is Monkey Puggy, and this is music but with footage of monkeys. Now, they make gaming videos mostly, but when you go to their most popular videos, there's one titled Life Could Be a Dream But with More Monkey, which basically means more monkeys. And it's just the song Life Could Be a Dream, but with footage of monkeys in it.
That's it. And the video got 1.7 million views and made over $8,000. All from getting a song and putting monkey footage on it. Beautiful. And the next one is just a channel that makes super weird music. It's called Justin Oval and they have about 401,000 subscribers and according to Vid IQ they make about 2,000 to $5,000 a month. And this channel has music with really weird thumbnails. So there's a video titled Mr. Shy Frog with a weird frog. Um there's another one called Eat Your Turkey with a turkey on flames. There's another one called How to Be Shrimp, which is kind of absurd.
But one that really stood out was the video titled Shrimp Quartet. It got 8.4 million views and it made over $11,000 and it is exactly what it sounds like, a shrimp quartet, a shrimp playing instruments and it made over $8,000. Now, one thing I'm going to point out is a lot of these videos were made a long time ago. And now the AI is basically getting a lot better. You can make videos like this much more easily and probably a lot better as well. So yeah, guys, lots of simple, weird, absurd channels on this list.
If you want to start your own YouTube channel and do it in such a way where you're actually going to make money, you don't have to do weird stuff like this. Attend the live training. Do not miss out on it. I don't know how many of these I'm going to do. I don't know how long it's going to be until the next one that I do. So, make sure you attend it. Click that link. Also, check out this video right here where I go over one of my students who was able to make a full-time income from YouTube.
You can learn all about their story, learn exactly how I have people make YouTube videos, and you can get inspired by their story.
