Hello. Hello. Hello. I realize this might be a little loud. Hello. Welcome to I'm on observation duty live. I'm playing this and to get ahead of you. No, this isn't some subtle hint that like the next movie is going to be about this. I feel like um I feel like if I'm going to do another project, it's going to be something that's a little more expansive and more freeing, you know, than this. Uh, but no, no offense to this, but this is a good game to talk about things that are happening because most of us sitting around waiting for something to happen and watching things and that means that I can talk at the same time preferably, right? Hello, hello, welcome, welcome. And this is actually I I know I said I was going to be uh done with the live streams talking about updates, but I do have a final update to bring to you, which is pretty exciting. You know, I I don't mean to I don't mean to uh alarm anybody, but I just want to say um and three time champion number one movie in America. Anyway, I I I don't want to I don't want to be too alarmist about it, but I have some more news beyond that. Not just not just not just reclaiming what's rightfully ours, but Iron Long won the week. And not just that, but depending on how you look at the weekend, which is how I would normally look at it, which is how many people went to see it over the weekend. That was such a close climactic monstrous battle between me and Sam Remy himself standing at top a mountain top with lightning screaming there can only be one. They got a a respectable, you know, a a a above average 1.22 million people going to see their movie. And I'm like, you know, that's good. That's good. This is over last weekend just from you know Thursday to to Sunday you know battle with hook 1.22 million. Wow that's that's pretty good. That was a YouTube video I'd be like that's really good. Iron long you may ask how many people did it get over the weekend. [laughter] Well what can I say except 1.33 million people. That's a bigger number. Therefore better. Anyway, [snorts and laughter] I think that it's uh it is it is a fascinating thing. I saw this in the um in the Deadline article that they talked about it. So, it's like they won on dollars, but who cares about that? We won on numerical superiority. There were more people that saw Iron Lung than saw Send Help. And if you're going by YouTube, which is, you know, you see the views front facing all the time, I'd say it makes this a pretty solid winner. I'd say, "Hey, you know how he said draw?" I'm still going to offer that draw, Mr. Ramy. I ain't I ain't no back out of a handshake deal kind of guy. You want to still say we'll call it a draw, even though we know it was really, but anyway, we'll call it a draw. [snorts] Anyway, so uh that's all I'll say about that. There's really nothing else I I care about except the little bit of bragging rights and it's like yay. I'm just more tickled that people are seeing the movie at all. And that's really really cool. Yeah, there's nothing else I want to talk about in terms of like yeah the numbers are so big because I never really cared about doing YouTube numbers anyway. I stopped caring about that a long time ago. So anything other than just like brief bragging rights, it's uh it's pretty cool. But we won. That's just a fact now. That's just the [laughter] fact. That's just [snorts] the way it is. So, you know, who am I to gloat? Who am I to gloat? Why would I gloat? Gloat me, this guy. I'm not going to gloat. I'm taking the the the noble road. I'm taking the noble road. Anyway, I'm also going to take this road. Uh let me know which of these appeals to you. So, we did the research station on the video that we did of this. Man, that music is bumping. Uh, so we did the uh research station before and we beat that on hard. I don't think I'm going to go into hard mode again for these, especially for the first few times, but I think that uh we could do that. Airplane. Airplane. Lighthouse. Airplane. Lighthouse. We might be doing the stream long enough to get to two. Um, but while you're voting for that, um, once again, everybody that joined up, uh, we have new theaters opening up for Iron Lung this week, uh, in Portugal, I believe Switzerland, and a couple more in Germany. Next week will be, uh, South Pacific, Asian countries. Um, I can't remember off the top of my dome which ones they are. Uh, but I will be I will be more informed about that later. I I read a list of them before, but I'm not sure if they're all coming out on the same day next week, but a lot of them are coming out next week. Um, I know that South America is still in in in in discussions. There's more things to go there. Um, I don't know, though. It's all moving very quickly, but it's it's also moving very slowly. I understand. Okay. Wow. Damn. It It really ain't over till it's over. Um that poll is kind of tight. So, right now it's uh pretty close between Airplane and Lighthouse. I'm going to let that go just a little bit longer. Yes. Uh but Portugal, it's finally coming to Portugal, which means that the editors in Portugal can finally see the movie in a theater, which will be great. Yes. Oh, also I talked about this in some interviews, and I talked this briefly. Uh so the sound issue that people were hearing where some people were like it sounded perfect and I was able to understand everything. Um and then other people that were like I it was difficult to hear. So what happened is uh a lot of people were like oh it's a it's an it's a not professional mix. It's it's not that at all. The mix was very professional and it was done for Atmos. Right. But as you noted from what I said before with uh Sendel, they had all of the premium screens. It's not all of them, but they had a lot of the premium screens. Uh their ticket price, average ticket price was higher. Um but they had a lot of the premium screens which had the Atmos sound systems and stuff like that, which means that the other screens which don't have Atmos sound systems had to go back to one of the other audio formats. And so we sent it out with other audio formats. We had 71 and 51 along with the Atmos mix. And Atmos is supposed to be able to scale up and down. So long as it's configured for Atmos, it can scale up and down to a lot of different speaker configurations, but for a lot of them, it just has to be um 71 or 51. There are very few theaters that can't do or aren't capable of 71. And a 7 to1 mix is still very good. There's nothing wrong with a 71 mix. 71 is is pretty [music] good. That means six speakers around you. One in front for the center speaker. You got center uh left and right stereo, left and right, side, left and right, rear, right? So you can see you can hear things all around you and then a subwoofer, right? Or the subwoofer. In a theater, it's more speakers than that, but they're grouped that way, right? So ideally, it was the seven one that was supposed to be that everyone got. So even if it's not an Atmos theater, you can still hear it well. And a lot of people got that, and that's that's totally fine if the theater tuned it, if the theater did the testing, um they did that. There's also the 51, which if tested properly and set up correctly, uh would sound good, too. However, for some reason, a lot of the theaters picked the 51 instead of the 71, which both they were probably capable of doing. And so, if they didn't set up the 51 properly or if they set up the 51 as the 71 or some vice versa or something got wrong, that's what happened. And so, if you noticed in the movie, this is not a spoiler or anything, but the speakers on the side on the side on the side. So, those side channels in the 71 are very important. the rest of them can still, you know, the 51 can still have it separated, but this is just a little peer behind why audio and formats are so varied and all the different screens and stuff get really complicated really fast. Um, it's because it often comes down to the individual testing in that theater. There's some things that are standardized, but if they don't have the proper calibration or things, this is what I I I'm as far as I understand, this is what happened. I don't know if one was selected as a default that was not quite right. I don't know if the theaters assumed that the the mix was not going to be very sophisticated because the mix was extremely sophisticated um done very professionally by Brad. He did a great job. Um but there was some movie theaters that had not all that had the uh audio mix not quite right and that's why things sounded muddy and that's why you get the phenomenon online of people being like hey I had no audio problems at all. I was able to discern pretty much everything. Everything was separated properly. And then you have some people being like couldn't hear anything. That's because if they have the wrong channel assignments or if things aren't tested. I'm not saying they have the wrong channel assignments, but if you know if they didn't calibrate it properly and they didn't, you know, do what they needed to do. They didn't have the highest that possibly could have. Anyway, yeah. So, uh 71 is different than Atmos, right? Se 71 is like what I said, Atmos is is uh a little bit different. Damn, this poll is getting is way closer than I thought it'd be. So 71, you know, Atmos is supposed to be its minimum is 741, right? So the difference between the Atmos and these other ones is that they're ceiling speakers, so you can get things above you. And Atmos can scale up. So seven is just it not a lot of almost all movie theaters have more than seven speakers, right? So they have groupings, right? So if you have a movie theater with a random number of speakers, but it's in the configuration and has a license for Atmos, it can scale up or down to any speaker configuration. So so long as it has the minimum required number and not less than the maximum required number, right? So Atmos is convenient in that it can scale up and down to various theaters so long as they have Atmos. If they have Atmos, they plug in the Atmos and it'll automatically configure itself to those speakers. If you have 71, you still need to group your speakers to the tracks um properly and then you can fiddle from there. I don't know the full details of fiddling, but I know there's some fiddling to do. So, that was what happened. As far as I know now, that has been mostly rectified. That has mostly been taken care of. It was the first few showings on the first weekend that had most of the issues. Yeah. So, anyway, anyway, I'm going to I'm going to close this, man. It's within 2% now. I don't know what happened. Anyway, we are number one for the whole week. We win. Uh, you know, it just is the way it is. We all knew it was going to happen, but that's the way it is. But if uh if you if you're still looking to see it that it is going to be in theaters this weekend and uh possibly next weekend. I'm not 100% sure. It is going to open up in other countries next weekend. That is for guaranteed. How many theaters it's going to be in in America is really up to uh the theat's discretion, but it's running in a lot of them this weekend. So, uh, ironlong.com. Check it out for where your local theater is. Almost all the theaters that were there before in America are still there in Canada. There's a lot of fan art that came out of this uh the movie. And I realized that it has been a while since I've done anything worth having you guys make fan art of. And it's super cool because not only is it is it here, but once again, whenever I do a project with like another actor, there's fan art of those other characters. And I I I think I told Caroline like, "Get ready. people are going to cosplay your character uh in the movie. So, I I think it's already I saw people planning that and it's really really fun. Yes, I know about South America. These these things are not stopped. They're just going as fast as they can. So, there there's a maximum speed that I can do. There really truly is no faster for it. It is just the speed that it goes. It is in the works and we're trying, but if it gets to the point where it's just easier to put it out online and try to get, you know, the online purchases for people to see it or obviously we're going to try with Blu-ray, but even manufacturing that does take [music] time. So, you don't need to get uh them rehhouse cuz the rehousing process is very expensive. It takes a lot of time. They got to basic Oh, you're moving again. Get out of here. It basically that it takes a lot of effort and a lot of custom work to make that happen, right? So, um, you can still get Minulta lenses off of like eBay or rehoused or at camera vintage camera shops and you can get them and then if they're a little dirty, you can get them cleaned up from a professional lens repair person and you can do some modding to make them quote cinema ready. Uh, and that also people could do that for you for a price. lots of steps to get there from um what would be uh vintage lenses to being rehoused. There's a lot of incremental steps and some of these lenses you can get for like 50 bucks and that's pretty good for a lens that looks [ __ ] amazing. So, if you want to know why Iron Lone looks so good, number one, great set design. Number two, cinema camera. And number three, great lenses. So, big shout out to Ancient Optics for getting that. I hope they don't mind if I recommend that you get yours from eBay. Uh, not that they even have another set of that anymore. That they only made like nine or 10 sets, right? Poster change. Oh, it's too busy yapping. So, let me get Let me let me show you. [music] Some of these are radioactive, by the way. All right. So this is that's a lens, right? So this is actually uh from this is an MC2 lens. If you know what a the minultas are, MC2 would mean something to you. Um but this is a 21, right? It's a very good 21. It's a 21 uh from the early '7s MCORE NL. Um it's just just a gorgeous image. Um, some people pre prefer the MC3s, which is also sometimes known as the MCXs, uh, to the MC2s, but it's only because some of these older lenses, you know, um, they might have a bit more damage and age to them. Um, if they had any kind of thorium coating, the radioactivity in that coating can yellow the glass. That can be fixed pretty easily. The only thing that can't be fixed very easily is mold. So, you can want to be on the lookout for mold, right? That's why I keep them in a dry cabinet so that they stay dry so the mold doesn't have a chance to form. Right. Okay. Now, this lens was not as This is one of the not so cheaper ones. So, there are other lens if you don't have a 21 that this one is a more expensive one. You can get a 24, which is pretty close and they're more common, right? Wait a minute. Hey. Hey, there was another one open here. There's five total supposed to be here. Don't know why it's not called a door anomaly. Yeah. As opposed to a damp cabinet. You're thinking of a humidor. A damp cabinet is a thing. I bet you thought you were just making a joke there. Uh, great wide lens. It wasn't used for the widest of shots in the in the movie. That was on a 12 millimeter. I was not always in love with the 12 millimeter. Uh but Phil the DP, I trusted his instincts on and on certain shots, the 12 millimeter really shined. Um it's not the 12 millimeter that we had was not a vintage lens. It was a more modern um kind of actually still photo lens. Uh, it was not converted for cinema, but it still was very nice in certain aspects. I'm not in love with the hyper wide. I think 21 is wide enough for me for most of the time, but yeah, that's uh that's just me. Personal preference. It's whatever tells the story better. Right now, I do have some highly radioactive ones in there. Not highly, you know, moderately radioactive. Uh, but you know, hey, you know, that's it. Yeah. How long my stream for? I don't know. Probably till the end of this one. I just wanted to pop on to kind of give you guys a good news about being number one, but also being like, you know, it was never seriously about the rat race. I don't really care about winning, but it is cool that it happened at all, and I want to acknowledge that. Um and I say we won on the weekend because we had more people in the theater, but it's like also it doesn't matter, right? Well, it does and it doesn't. Uh, but I also talked about this on Reddit a little bit where uh some people were uh there was there was like a post on Reddit that was talking about how um you know, they they didn't think that Iron Lung being successful was automatically a win for indie filmm. And I I get where they they're coming from. And I wanted to put my thoughts out there about it is because if you think about it, I started 14 years ago with nothing. Therefore, I was about as indie as it gets when I started. And if my goal, and my goal was only loosely this, but it eventually moved towards this. If my goal was to make a movie, then you could say it took 14 years of work and effort to get to the point where I could have independent success with my movie. So, and then I posited the questions like, how long is too long for a dream to come true? And how long is so long that people can forget where it all started from? And and then I said like, does it matter? And I don't think it really does. U people can buy into whatever they want. But if it's inspirational for someone to be like, hey, if I put in the hard work for 14 years is a [ __ ] long time, but some people have worked harder on on bigger dreams than this or smaller dreams than this for even longer periods of time. Um, but I think it's still worth it to have the inspiration for people. If I can hopefully inspire someone to even start trying, you know, that's what matters. And so that was a that was an interesting discussion to have. Um, getting there. Yeah. Oops. That was always there. I know I'm missing something. I'm barely paying attention to this. And probably a lot of theaters are going to do that. Um but every week typically with a movie release, it goes down. It dwindles a week to week. because we don't have a pre-arranged agreement there.
