Iron Lung Weekend Results (Number... 1?)

Hi, welcome back to the stream. I'm here to give you a delightful update on how the weekend went. And if anyone thinks that this is sarcastic at all, no, I'm I'm cheesing it right now. I'm I'm [laughter] But not like that. No, this is a very professional stream. I'm going to professionally present you information that occurred exactly as it occurred because that's what I do here. I'm a professional and as head of Markiplier Studios, as we all know, which is what this is, um I I say what's I I'm just going to tell you what occurred. And yes, right now in this very moment that we are based on Monday, yes, Iron Lung is number one. But it's a more complex story than that. Okay, right now it's a more complex story. Yes, we are the twotime number one uh most popular movie in America. Yes, we're a twotime champion. That's true. Because if we can all just find whatever angles that we have, then that's exactly as true as anything. We're the twotime number one. Not only are we were we number one, we're number one again. Twot time scoreboard. So, all right. But it's more complex than that than that because we weren't number one. And I know that sounds crazy, but I want to tell you the story, right? I want to I want to tell you the story of how it is because this is why I didn't stream yesterday is because oh there was a lot of calculating to do and number stuff which originally before I was like oh I'm not a numbers guy. I was very much a numbers guy on Sunday. Sunday was like a very Sunday was a crazy day. So exciting so fun. So freeing. So just cathartic. I was I was ecstatic all day long. I got to eat kimchi ramen. I was having a great day. It was awesome. So I have some concrete information for you. [laughter] I know RIGHT TWO TIME NUMBER ONE in America. I will tell you number one in Australia, New Zealand and I think Canada and never ever lost that. So, I gotta tell you, uh, yes, it slipped. Even though Iron Lung being number one Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and the vast majority of Sunday, you know, you hold the number one, but it's not about this, you know, last one on the hill when Sunday ends. Uh, it was it was legitimately like this. And this is no dispar. I I want everyone to be very clear. This has never been about disparaging to send help. I'm going to see that very soon. Uh, but it's it's So, this was the numbers, right? Iron Lung on top. Send help right here on Sunday when I did that stream, right? Send help was kind of angled. I did that stream and you guys went bananas apit, right? So, all day I was just looking at these lines, these nondescript, non-specific lines. Right. Legitimately, this is this is what I was I was dealing with all the super fun. Um, and then about 8 maybe 7:30ish, 8:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time, that's when Sandhelp just crossed uh the line to take the number one spot. Right. So, Iron Lung number one through Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday until like 7:30, 8:00 and then bump send out. Okay. you know, Sunday ends and then it's like, yeah, number one, sure, but there had to be obviously some some, you know, you gota get the report in and all this stuff and and stuff like that. And so what what's what there's no conspiracy here. It's not about that. We're not trying to make this is not about accusations. It's not about anything. These are just what happened. So it's like I went to bed that night. I felt amazing. I was like, "Ah, we really really almost got there." It was ah so [clears throat] close. It's like the margin of difference was this much, not this much, but this much. Um, and so it's like a lot of the numbers that were thrown around were originally based on estimates. You don't get the real numbers until later, right? Monday rolls around. Numbers come in today. IRON [screaming] LUNG IS THE NUMBER ONE MOVIE IN AMERICA. THE NUMBER ONE TWOTIME [screaming] CHAMPION. WE'RE BACK, BABY. NOTHING BETTER THAN A COMEBACK. You know, we couldn't make it too easy on him. We could We had to had to give them let them You had to let them have their moment. You know, you got to have a little little moment and then BACK NUMBER ONE AGAIN, BABY. TWO [screaming] TIMES. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT. THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT, BABY. AND SO, however you want to call it, like sure, they were number one for like four hours. We were number one for like 90 hours throughout the weekend. I'll let you decide who won the weekend. I'm not saying anything anyways. It's last person across the finish line in a race. That's what matters. And I accept that fully. BUT THE RACE KEEPS GOING. IT AIN'T OVER TILL IT'S OVER, BABY. WE'RE NOT DONE TILL WE'RE DONE. I I I can't believe the audacity of you guys. I can't believe the audacity that you have. I can't believe your audacity. Your audacity should be stopped by someone. Not me. I'm not going to stop you, but someone ought to stop your audacity because the the audaciousness with which you uh approach things is No, no, no. We didn't win. I'm not saying we won. I'm not saying we won Sunday, BUT WE WON THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, AND MONDAY. THEY GOT SUNDAY. THAT'S THE SCOREBOARD. This is all joke. It's all [laughter] joke. It's all a joke. Look, it's fine. I'll admit it. I'll admit it. You went to the last show movie Sunday night. That's incredible. Yeah. So, it's it's totally fine. I'm not saying anything. I'm not discrediting their accomplishments. They're great accomplishments. But hey, [snorts] that's a two time. That's a two time. That's two time number one. And hey, if we lose it again and then we get it back, IT'LL BE A THREE TIME. AND YOU KNOW, if they get it back again, then it'll only ever be a tie. And we could call it that. Hey, Mr. Remy. Want to call it a draw? Come on. No, no, no. It's fine. It's it's it's it's uh I wanted to get the the actual numbers and and be sure of everything and and it's uh it's just interesting. There's nothing there's nothing crazy or shady going on here. That's not what it is at all. I'm not trying to throw accusations. I'm not trying to say anything at all other than we're back, baby. Uh cuz it's like on the weekends, you go by estimates. So if a few headlines are talking about estimates, like that's all they have to go on. You don't know until you know. So they go based on what they have. And based on what they have, they were still right. At the end of Sunday, uh send got there across the finish line with more. That is not something I'm disputing and not something I even care about. It's cool that we were even competing. The fact that we were even in the race was a thing I never imagined possible, right? I never [ __ ] imagine, right? Couldn't possibly fathom that. It's It's so unbelievable that this going from such a a a crazy small theater run to now, and the more important news that I'm talking about, it's getting extended. We got another weekend. The theaters are the vast majority of theaters that it was in this weekend are still going to show it next weekend [panting] and and and we're coming to Southeast Asia. We're we're we're going to other countries now. It's it's going it's going to be in France, I think. I'm pretty sure about that. So, it's it's going to places. It's going to places. So, this next weekend, I think. I'm not 100% sure yet. Things are still moving and things are still moving as quickly as they can and I'm trying to keep up with it while also taking a little bit of a breather going out and getting muk kimchi ramen and eating eating some fun foods and having some free time. It's been lovely. I have haven't had free time in 3 years. Crazy to even think about. I am so tickled. I'm very happy. And I know again I say this every time because I want people to know that it's okay. There's no need to go rabid about these things. There no need to like shout it or or anything. This is just for us to have a celebratory moment. I don't know if like any of you would even remotely take this outside of this to there's no bragging rights here. This is all internal celebration. So I don't care one way or another. Doesn't matter to me. It's fun when it happens, right? And I want to celebrate it when it happens with you guys because it's something that you did. I like this wouldn't have happened without you guys. This never would have occurred. Nothing would have been here. It's it's all it's it's it's astonishing. Like it just is. It's fundamentally astonishing. And I am just grateful. I wanna I want to be able to I want to be able to deliver wins for the crew, but the win condition isn't being number one. That's not the win condition. That's a fun little haha achievement. The win condition is that this actually came out at all. This got in theaters, which was my only goal with this movie from the beginning. Could have been 50 theaters, could have been less. If that's all it could do, then that's all I would get. And I would be happy with the results either way because I did it and you did it. Made a movie. Put it out there. Huge. Everything else is just icing on the cake. And it's it's uh pretty good icing. It's pretty good icing. It's very very good. Yeah. So, uh again, it's going to be in theaters another week. Um, so but we're still getting the wheels turning for you to get it at home. The whole translation thing, it's going to take some doing. I have some plans in the way, but as far as getting it ready and packaged up for a home release with DVD and Blu-ray, uh, and stuff like that and having it be purchasable digitally or rentable, um, that is all that is all being worked, right? That is all being put underway. So, there's a lot of systems that I got to learn. and I have some guidance that's going to help me through that. But we're still doing it independently uh from start to finish. This project will be independent the whole way through and I think that's pretty cool. So, uh you know, it's just flare and flavor to be able to say that, you know, meanwhile we didn't win the weekend, but as of Monday, we're back on number one. Number one, baby. and in Australia that never wavered. New Zealand and I'm I think Canada, I'm not 100% sure. Um, never wavered. So, thank you very much for that. All the fans in other countries around the world, thank you very much for watching the movie, believing in it, believing in in what I'm trying to do, and the entire crew that put all their work into the movie. Thank you for believing in that. That's really something. I am so inspired to do something else, but I also am so ready to not do something else right away. I have so many ideas for YouTube videos that I got to get going. I I am going to put things into motion. I've got some bigger ideas, some smaller ideas, and just generally putting content out there into YouTube. It's [sighs] It's very, very nice. It is super fun. This is the dream. And I could not do any of it without you. It's been a long journey to get here. But what feels good about this moment and Amy was saying this is when I when I got to YouTube, right? When I started YouTube, I had this dream, right? I wanted to be a big YouTuber. I talked about it at the very beginning of my channel. I didn't even know what that meant. I had some idea cuz looking at other YouTubers, I didn't even know what being a YouTuber really meant, but I knew what I wanted. And then when I achieved those goals, I realized that that wasn't the goal that I really wanted or or even if I did, getting it wasn't going to make me happy. It was the entire process of getting there. There's a cliche that it's about the journey, not the destination. But in this space, it is exactly the same. And when I get to the point where I'm in YouTube making these projects, the reason I want to push myself to do these things is like this entire movie was another step to learn, right? This entire thing was just so I could learn the process because and Amy said this is this is what she said is like it's so good to feel like you're a little fish in a big pond again, right? And that's that's all I've wanted is I don't care if I start at the beginning. I don't care if I start at the bottom. I want a direction to climb. I want a direction to swim like one way to paddle because that's that's what makes me happy is so long as I'm moving in a direction. And right now, this is a great start because it's like I'm proud of what I made just like I'm proud of the first Warf Stash interview, right? It's not perfect. It's not well done. That one's not well done. I think this one's pretty well done. Uh but that's also thanks to having an incredibly talented crew, but this isn't the best I can do. I got I got years before I'm going to show you the best that I can do because every single project that I'm doing is going to be something a stepping stone to getting better. And it's like finally, finally, I can feel like I have a foothold to start climbing again, right? And I think that it took all these years to get to this point where I could do that and then continue to do YouTube the entire time because just doing this is such a freeing being able to stream like this. Why would anybody give this up, you know? I mean, it's an crippling addiction. And probably there's there's a whole bunch of things to say about that, but it's just so [ __ ] fun and I'm so lucky to be able to do it. and and like this this feeling after a project comes out and like seeing people enjoy it and and people like take a chance on it and and just seeing people's responses to it of any type. I I don't care. It's just like it's just fun. It feels so good in a way I can't even put into words, right? I I can't describe it. this entire I've smiled more in the past weekend than I have in the past well there was there was a couple days there where I could say that not there but it's been a long time since I I have smiled this much just knowing that I did something and it's out there and and and people can see it and and like it's just like I have something that I can respect about myself and and how much I pushed and it's just like and seeing all the responses to it it's all ties No, that's what I meant. So, it's like not your wedding. No, that's what I meant. I think there there's some times back there where uh there definitely was some smiles. Um, you know, there there was ups and downs to everything. So, I don't want to say like it hasn't been 3 years since I smiled. Yes, that's what I was saying. I already said that. You you got to look at the context clues. Of course, my wedding. That's why I said like I haven't smiled this. Well, there were a few days. That's me COILY BEING. YEAH, MY WEDDING. YOU THINK I'M JUST LIKE, "WELL, there was a couple days where I had a good dinner there. I went and got a good steak and I smiled pretty big at that." No, you Claude. I MEAN, MY WEDDING. DUH. You think that you're being koi with like You didn't talk about I literally went, "Well, there was a couple days there. I know your comprehension's A LITTLE LOW. YOU GOT TO GET IT UP THERE, RIGHT?" Of course. I'm just kidding. I'm playing with you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I It's okay. It's okay. I forgive you. I forgive you. I forgive you. I forgive you. I will forgive you about that transgression that you've put against me. I'll forgive you about that. But um what was I even saying? I don't know. It's great. That's it. The the the conclusion is it's really cool. We're number one. We might not be number two again, but hey, as long as we're number two. Number As long [laughter] as we're number two. As long as we're number one, I'm going to claim just a little bit of ego off of that and then I'm going to let it go as soon as it's done because I don't I don't base my value as a as a creator or person off of those kind of accolades. It's just kind of fun to play it, you know. It's kind of fun to lean into it. Yeah, it's very fun. So, wanted to give you that update. So, yes, right now Iron Lone number one as of Monday back on top. back on top. You guys were insane. I don't know how you did it. That's incredible. And Iron Lung is now going to be in theaters another weekend, which is stunning. We're coming to new territories. So, other countries around the world, you're about to get it. Um, and that includes I I actually, let me see if I can find the list. Um, so you have an idea. I want to give you some concrete information to work off of here. Where was it? Okay, so this is the uh first list. Why is this all okay? Singapore, Malaysia, Brune, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao, uh Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand, T-our, I apologize if I butchered T-our, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Macau, South Korea. So that's the initial. There might be more after that. I am still kind of just like, "Oh, wow. We're we're going there." So, that's what's going to be in the next batch. And also France and then I believe a couple other places. [sighs] I need to follow up with this. This is all coming very fast. I had podcasts also all day that we usually record. Um, so I have I'm just now catching up to it. I just got off a podcast and I saw the the the latest news and I was like, "Well, I got to tell people about that." So, pretty cool. There's probably going to be a few more after this uh because apparently apparently a lot of people are talking about Iron Lung and that is kind of crazy. So, uh people are taking notice, but you know, still still going to take the independent route on uh all this releasing. Um uh and yeah, cuz it's worked so far. So, I think I can just keep going with that. So, that's pretty cool. Anyway, thank you all so much for watching. Thank you so much for supporting.
