Man, it feels like just yesterday we were talking about there being a Wolverine state of play possibly in the near future. Oh, WAIT A MINUTE. IT WAS YESTERDAY. JESUS. Literally willed that [ __ ] into existence. Um the the uh promiscuous nut orbiting state of play. Damn. Is this the one? Two weeks. That is a They haven't done that [ __ ] in a long time, Chad. The legendary nut orbiting state of play. The one that's been prophesized since the since before the dark times. The one that predates the pandemic. It was spoke by Godith himself. Um anyway, Max live stream in the movie theater. Yeah, I thought that that interpretation I read it as like there was going to be like a live audience or something, but apparently they're just going to they're just going to stick it into movie theaters. Um, so you can go watch the big ass State of Play from movie theaters. Now, there's no State of Play tonight. What happened was State of Play was announced. Um, which means that it begins. We can start doing gift sub bets. It is literally two weeks from uh a few hours ago. So, June 2nd. Uh, it is literally Tuesday after Tuesday kind of insane and it is massive. It's potentially over 60 minutes. So, yeah, dude. Yeah. Uh, guaranteed Wolverine's going to be there. All that kind of stuff. Combined state of play and SGF bets together. Nah. Nah, I won't. I refuse. Um, if anything, I think we I think our SGF bets just got delayed until possibly after the state of play. No [ __ ] I think it did. So, we'll see because at at this point, the majority of things that I think could show up at a state of play could also be at SGF. And depending on what shows up at state of play will heavily influence what the SGF list is. So yeah, dude. I don't know. Wolverine bets. There's no there's no Wolverine bets. They literally said it's going to be there. I'm not betting on a thing that's going to be there. Jesus. I ain't I I ain't giving you guys free money. All right. We're not That's not exciting. We know it's going to be there. Um anyway, I think that's the plan right now. Yeah. Also, and let me know if you guys are curious about this before we start getting into big old state of play discussion because we're going to have to start doing bets um and discussing why this is kind of a bigger state of play, why this might be one of the biggest ones yet. Um I played Ingrid for like two hours. Do we want to go over that? I have some footage. They only have we only had so much footage that we could get um accordingly. But I have some footage of Ingrid and I have a lot of impressions. So, should we should we do that first or lean into the state of place stuff first? I'll probably give about like a 10 to 15 minute um impressions of Ingrid and uh should we do let's go over that first. Yeah, let's do that. Uh let me let me find out where my my footage is. Hold on a second. Ingredo first. Uh because I've been kind of waiting to talk about this one a bit. Just a little bit. Yo, Dragon Board, thanks for the trip 7s, dude. Uh let me look this up, chat. Hold on a second. I gota The way Windows now organizes and categorizes everything sucks. Um, Ingrid. There we go. So, I have like arcade mode footage. I got some versus match. I got a couple of combo trials. Okay, let's do the couple of versus matches. So, yeah, to um to preface this, I got to play Ingrid a little bit. And, uh, I was a little reluctant and I'm like, oh, you know, yeah, we'll see. I'll just wait till she comes out. This is not like a necessarily super exciting character for me personally where I'm like, "Oh god, I cannot wait for Ingrid." But the presentation that they're pulling off with her has been genuinely kind of cool that they're leaning into this wild and crazy space creature that she is, which is a lot more interesting than the um Athena sort of mock character that they had before. So yeah, that was always that was always the most appealing thing. I'm going to summarize Ingrid based on previous fighting game experience. Um, and also tell you guys that initially my thoughts on this character is that I'm that that's probably the least interesting character to me personally of all of them when this stuff was first announced. And at the end of this season, I still am leaning that I had the most fun with Sagot. I actually ended up liking Sagot the most. And I think Sagot is probably one of the best representations of that character just in general. However, Ingred is nuts. From a gameplay perspective, this character is crazy. And I I'm going to this is not going to mean much to many people, but I'm going to explain it with some gameplay. Ingred is holy Order Soul in Street Fighter 6. She literally is. Her entire game plan is that she starts off relatively like a normal character and then she can build herself up to get these buffs and the exact same way that Holy Order Soul does and she doesn't keep them like Jamie. No, her whole game plan is to chores and cash out. Chores and cash out. Chores do I save it? Chores more. Cash out. Chores and cash out. She is this constant bouncing back and forth. And your next question is, so she's this insane chore zoning character. No, she's not really a zoning character. That's what's crazy. She gets a really powerful projectile that she can convert with these chores. Uh, but at the same point, the character is described by Capcom, and I started noticing this where I'm like, no, no, no. She's super versatile. She's not she's not here just zoning people out and keeps you at mid to long range distance. She's not that. That is actually not the game plan. So, let me uh start describing some stuff as we uh pull up some footage. Hold on a sec, chat. Don't have a ton of variety in this footage, but it is it is all we got right now. It's mostly just Ingred versus Ingred. So, the fascinating thing is that I think it's her fireball back. This move does nothing by itself, but if you do fireball back light, she does this pose. She does these cutesy poses and you can do them at the end of in the air. You can do them on the ground. You can do them after certain specials just like Holy Order Soul had. Um, and it builds up her like sigil, whatever this thing is up here, whatever the official name of it actually is. It builds this up and it goes to I think around five or something like that. So, you like her gameplay? I think as a core character in herself, she has some of the most interesting gameplay in the game. And I it's crazy to think that. And the reason that the game play is interesting is that when you build these, which is like I don't know if she's going to be super good because she has to work for it, but dude, when you have these, it changes everything. Like every one of her specials, her level one supers, her level two supers, her level, I think even her level three. Um, it's actually like crazy how I didn't even get to see everything. There was too many modifiers and it wasn't just like one cash out where it's like, "Okay, so now you're doing the level one version of this move. Here's a level two version of this move." If anything, if there's another Street Fighter character that we can compare this to, the push and pull of the move is not the exact same, but she's the most close to G in Street Fighter 5. G was different. G had to like get knocked down or something like that for him to lose his [ __ ] No, no, no. Ingred just like does a move and poses and then gets it and it's up to her when she cashes it out which is how the the holy order soul comparison is. So the nuttiest thing is that she has like really good teleport. She can she can do teleports after certain specials and stuff. An aerial one, a grounded one, all that kind of stuff. She's in the wrong game, dude. like and you'll start to see some stuff with the character uh in some of this footage, if not some of the footage that's been released. She is she doesn't fit Street Fighter like in any normal way at all. She's like this insanely powerful being uh that is likely more powerful than any Street Fighter character that's ever existed. Some of the footage that's been released is actually nuts. Um, and the weirdest part about it is that I started seeing how much effort they were putting into this because there are so many manipulators that you can put on top of her specials that change the way things work and look. So, I was just seeing new things constantly like fighting CPUs and doing this stuff and getting whooped by higher level CPUs and stuff. It was like, wo, you can do that. Wait, you can do that. Wait, wait, wait, you can do that. She had some pretty decent hit confirms. The one thing that is clearly lacking on the character, clearly lacking is that her drive rush is probably the worst in the game. I think geese might even be faster. I'm just I I have no direct comparison. We couldn't slow anything down, but her drive rush is legit bad. um I am curious about this where you can maybe make an assumption based on that where I wonder if her having a really bad drive rush and being the last character of this season as we are right on the cusp of a next season of Street Fighter 6. The Street Fighter devs have a history of this going back to like Street Fighter 4 where at the end of certain seasons or in between games they test mechanics. I don't I have no evidence for this outside of what Ingrid plays like. However, I'm really curious if this is like a precursor of where the game is going. Um and I'm really wondering if it's like man her drive rush is is notably really rough. Uh however, I'm wondering if other characters drive rushes are going to be like that in the future. So, I'm just saying I don't know if it's going to be the case directly, but hers was so notably toned down from the rest of the roster that I was like, "Dang, wow, that is really specific." But granted, she makes up for it in other crazy things like conversions and offense and all this wild stuff. Dude, I I was absolutely not ready for Ingrid to be a character that was going to be fun or enjoyable to play. But what I dig about it is that like all of the cutesy [ __ ] that she does is like weirdly Looney Tunes. It's like it's it's almost like tongue-in-cheek cutesy where she isn't actually like trying to be cutesy. It's like she's emulating cute [ __ ] You know what I mean? Like there's a weird aspect to her that I kind of appreciate where she's almost like a comedy character and you start to see that in some of the other footage that's been shown out in some ways where some of her animations and stuff are kind of nuts. Is this Look at this. Now experience, bro. Like I saw this super done to Akuma and Akuma was sitting here basking in this golden light. And he was just like like even seeing Akuma, he's like the universe. So, it's kind of insane that she legit is the most like powerful character in Street Fighter history. Like, she technically is eclipsing like everything in some way. She's really nuts, dude. So, yeah, the weirdest part is that she kind of played like a holy order soul um with some pretty decent hit confirms, a good anti-air. I don't know if she had a fully invincible anti-air. We had no training mode to test stuff. Some of the projectiles seem like they could be kind of rough at the start, but when they do get their their sigil buffs, the sunrest buffs, they end up getting a lot better. So, I don't know, man. Like, I was I like I said last week, the last thing I was expecting was like to enjoy this character in some way because I've had some rough impressions some other characters where it's like Viper and things like that. I'm like, okay, yeah, this is it's C Viper. Um, but Ingred, I was pleasantly surprised by her being a lot different than I thought she was going to be and uh, also sharing some similarities to G and other games like Holy Order Soul where it's all about getting these things and cashing out these things and getting these things and cashing out these things and do you keep saving these things for the big cash out because she becomes really dangerous when she has like a ton of crests or sigils or whatever. She can now convert big beams from full screen into like larger combos and stuff like that. So yeah, does she carry them over between rounds? No, not at all. Not at all. She has to build them individually and you cash them out. So, for anybody that's never played Holy Order Soul in Street Fighter, uh sorry, Holy Order Soul in uh in in older Guilty Gears, his whole thing is that he does a pose and builds like a buff like he gets stronger and that buff enables him to do different things with his specials. It makes all of his specials and a lot of things on the character different. It's the exact same with her. But when you do that, it goes back. It pretty much reverts it back to like the default amount. You got to re get the buff. you got to reestablish the buff and get it back. So, there is a push and pull here where I don't I don't know if she's going to inherently be super crazy in the game simply because she has to like get these things. And a lot of characters that have to like get a resource don't end up being the best characters in Street Fighter 6. Usually, the characters that just go in and can do this [ __ ] like crazy are uh are extremely good anyway. Like Mannon, no, not at all. Cuz man does Mannon just gets strong per round and doesn't have to cash out. She just remains strong. Ingred does not remain strong. Like she only remains strong if you don't use the buffs. And when you eventually use your specials, they're gone. So you have to like get and acquire, get and acquire, get and acquire. And it's always this push and pull of like using it and when do you use it? All that kind of stuff. So anyway, it was very fun. It was very fun to like discover all that nutty stuff that you can actually do, you know. Let me see what else we got. We got some footage of uh trials. Uh let's see if we can go past the first few of these. See if there's any interesting ones. Uh hold on a second. Yeah, let's go up here. Anything good? She has a lot of really good target combos. I mean, most characters in Street Fighter 6 have a plethora of target combos at this point, but she also Yeah, she has some pretty dang good ones. It was pretty obvious like what sets up for Oki, what sets up for a big damage like most Street Fighter characters. You kind of get the idea. So, yeah, check that out. That is one level of Sunrest, right? One. You only need one to do this massive beam from full screen and then you go in. And if you if you hit that beam from anywhere closer, you can easily drive rush after and do some big stuff. It doesn't have to be only teleport. Teleport you can do manually. Uh so it's kind of like up to you. Like this. There you go. So, and if you have two sun crests here, the beam gets mad big, mad crazy, and then teleport down, does like a butt bump, and it knocks you to the ground for a ground bounce. Then, now you're getting like big combos with confirms off of big stuff. So, it's kind of cool. You're horrible at three kicks. Ah, yeah. Three kicks and three punches. It is. It is definitely there. It is definitely there. And there was also uh a little bit of this is a slight teaser of her arcade mode. Let's check this out really quick. I want to see the arcade mode. Uh here we go. She literally obliterates the other version of herself, which is like the little dude. Does she talk to the audience? Not really. Not really. There's no point in hiding from me. How curious. You could sense me hiding between dimensions. Interdimensional creature. My my how you've grown Ryu bully for Have we met? I like it that the indication is that they know each other from Capcom Fighting Jam in a different universe in like literally an alternate dimension where Capcom Fighting Jam exists and Ryu's like, "Who the [ __ ] are you?" Because he wouldn't know. It's me, Ingred, extradimensional woman of mystery. Alpha 3 is not canon, Chad. We ain't We ain't going to canonize the PSP and collection version of Alpha 3. Come on. Moniker pales in comparison to Rarded. You know what? I think it's it makes a lot more sense that the interdimensional version of Ingrid comes from a place where Capcom Fighting Allstars actually released and it was a real game that came out. the code holders, you know, I think that makes more sense where she's with Ryu in a game that never came out. Thanks for everything. You really have grown into quite the man. Ingred, take me to that timeline. I want to play that game. Oh, yes. Long ago, when you were but a cub. Nothing more than peach buzz and attitude. A cub? I haven't been called that since I was a kid. Weird. So, we knew each other when we were children. When we were children? Cute. But you misunderstand. I haven't aged a day since we last met. I've always looked like this. Weird. You really don't remember me? Wow. Nothing has ever me I just might cry. Well, one mustn't take things too much to heart. Time to move on. Let's think outside the box. Perhaps it's not that you can't remember, but that there's nothing to remember. Capcom Fighting Allstars never came out. Temporal parallax, an anomaly in which the past of my world and present of yours have yet to converge. Temporal parallax. for you is an idiot lady. Don't you understand? But fret not, this is a matter for my mind, not your muscle. Ryu is the wrong guy to be telling this [ __ ] to bring up would do you some good. What did you have in mind? Oh, you know what? Now come let your fist do the talking. Yeah, Japan. I love how unexpected and weird as [ __ ] she is. I think that that's the part that makes me happy is that like again I like being surprised by things that are like unexpected and I feel like I just enjoy that more and more as time goes on. Um especially if they're done in like a really satisfying way and I think what they're doing with Ingrid is probably the coolest thing they could do with her. you know, turning her into this weird interdimensional space creature uh that is just hyper weird and fun funnily enough like selfre referential kind of like as a tongue and cheek to the audience in some way is pretty cool. It's just fun. Falls asleep and gets dragged off. That's her uh she has a physical counter move. Whenever we get to see drive rush, so that's her building uh sigil right there. Check it out. She has to enter this pose. She can do this in between certain specials from what I remember. Don't quote me on that, but she can do it at the end of some moves. Um and she can also do it while jumping. So if you have here's an interesting thing. I think you could manipulate your jump arc by building uh the sun crest, sun sigil, whatever. I think you could actually manipulate your jump arc. So, if you don't want to jump all the way, you can stop and build it and fall straight down and people will just like whiff DP and stuff like that. I think that worked that way. It's been a little while. You can like anti-air bait. Yeah, you can also cancel it from air normals into it. She also had a cancelable down medium kick. She definitely did. Good luck trying to anti-air that. Yeah, forward m uh forward HP was this like lunging uh aerial move that keeps them juggled. And you can also go into sigil. Anyway, cool. I keep saying Sunrest, but I think it's actually I keep saying Sigil, but it's actually Sunrest, I believe. Yeah. Anyway, she she was just really fun. Uh that's my final impression. I ended up having uh a very good time. I kind of went to this thing and I was like, "Yeah, I'll just I'll try her for like 20 minutes so I can get some impressions of what she's like to tell people." Uh my [ __ ] ass ended up playing for two hours and I was like, I'm gonna be in traffic now. Um, my [ __ ] ass was there for two hours. So, we'll see. I That is the This has happened to me before. I ended up really liking um odd characters in Guilty Gear Strive. I can't believe I liked Elfelt and put a little bit of time into that. Not much. So, anyway, I went from like, "Oh yeah, we'll just check her out." So, now I'm actually kind of really looking forward to it. Now I'm like debating, okay, so yeah, Kunamitsu and this chick are going to be launching on the same time frame and like the same day. I'm like, am I just going to go back to Tekken on that day or, you know, wait on Ingrid, play Tekken? And now I'm definitely going to play Ingrid. Now I'm definitely going to uh have a good time with Ingrid on that launch day. So, and then we'll check out some Tekken later. When did you guys get to play these demos? Capcom guys invited me. Yeah, they were nice enough. They were nice enough with an opportunity to play this [ __ ] Uh I think there's some more footage. Hold on a second. Very nice of Capcom to uh shoot me an invite cuz it's like I lose a day when I do this stuff, man. If I have to go out and like play these things, it's like I'm going to lose a day. But uh I am curious. Yeah, GameSpot had a bunch of match footage. sucked. I had my I I was doing much more interesting stuff. I mean uh tooted my own horn, but I I found some more interesting things than uh what the level seven computers were doing. So, I wish I had my own capture device with me, but I forgot my freaking hard drive, dude. So, I'll make sure not to mess that up in the future. Definitely found some really cool things that you could do with her. The only thing, like I said, the only thing I'm worried about is that she will she is not an easy character to play because you have just to know so much about how each move gets modified and what each modifier does what and when to use each modifier. Like there's quite a bit to it. So, she I think she's classified as a difficult character on the character select screen, I think. So, but it just felt like there was a lot of interpretation for how you would manipulate her game plan, you know, and build Sunrest and choose when to catch them out, all that kind of stuff. Dude, I swear to God, there there was like four or five different versions of her level two. Even her level one had multiple versions. Like, I I saw her level two happen several times. And no joke, it was something different. Like every time I was like, "Uh, what is this, dude? What what is going on?" I saw different animations so many different times. I'm like, like, what? There's three level ones on Twitter. Exactly. Like the modifiers because of the the sun crest. Like, you can cash them out in a variety of different ways. They burned a lot of budget on this character. She animates very well. So, you can see how quickly from full screen you can build this stuff and begin to establish like space. Because if you're full screen, you get the jumping projectile, you get the big projectile that you can get with small damage. She also has convertible like overhead, you know, the typical stuff. Hello. This [ __ ] is This is the normal one. Dude, her her regular level one looks tame in comparison. This [ __ ] looks tame. Do they do the same damage or a difference? It changes the move entirely. Like the way the move works, it gets more hits or it gets more juggle or it does more damage. That kind of stuff. It's literally like holy order soul. They get new properties. So again, I kind of dig chores characters to a certain degree, but I really like the way they did it with G in Street Fighter 5. G was a character that had really really fun chores because they severely amplified a lot of his moves. Um, and they put a lot of that into this game already with like Manan and Jamie and Lily and you know probably others I can't think of at the moment. Yeah, she's like Hos and Jam put together. I haven't played a lot of Jam just in general. That was the two. Yeah, that's EX2 uh Sunrests and I think EX2 Sunrest from full screen, you get full combo. No joke. Yes. So, if you do if you mash down teleport like down kicks at the end of this, she'll do the butt bounce after and teleport above them and knock them to the ground. And if there's the corner, I think you get dry brush combos. I think I think that's one of the ones I tried and it did work or the wild ass computer did to me. Yeah, her her projectiles from like mid-range did not seem necessarily good as you see like what happens there. Uh when they're not enhanced in any way. Yeah. So, there was multiple different types of projectiles she can do from this mid-screen distance. Somebody say, "Are her projectiles good?" You could you could change their practicality. Like if you held the button down, it would have uh a long amount of recovery, but if you didn't, but it would like it would follow like it would shoot out or some [ __ ] You could you could change it if you held the button down. If you didn't, it would come out and recover relatively quick. So, even without having sunrests and meter, she could change the way her fireballs kind of work. uh if you if you want to and Chel kind of had like an anti-air one that kind of stuff they bring back Rufus or Nali and become suddenly cooler. Uh I mean at this point probably I mean if they made Ingrid cool dude she animates insane. Ni got vaporized in five. Whatever. We got this girl that's like going in between worlds and dimensions and [ __ ] They can come back. It's a fighting game. You think anybody actually dies? Yeah, that was the held down one. Oh my god. Yeah. Uh I don't think that was a Sunrest Cash out. Jeez. Wow, dude. You neutral jump from midcreen. What are the odds that Ingret is part of a setup for a crossover? Um, I mean, they didn't need that before with Fatal Fury. They didn't need all that [ __ ] before. Characters just showed up. Like, whatever. And the funniest thing is that like Fatal Fury technically takes place in the early 2000s. So they are not lining up at all with continuity. They just happen. Ooh, this was a neat combo. This was a neat combo. You will mess around. Fun Trump's continuity. Exactly. Yeah, that is the this is and this is the rough part of the character, which is why why not just pick a character that doesn't need to do that and their offensive pressure is already going to be very good. She has to do stuff like this where she can clearly like go in and try to get Oki in these situations, but she has to make the choice of going in and getting Oki or buffing yourself out for your next follow-up or attack, right? Which is just the nature of like chores characters. I think she inherently is a bit more threatening just in neutral because of the fireball. The Jamie problem. Exactly. Um, I think she's a bit more threatening because her projectile is so insane at that point. But it's the same problem that G sort of had in Street Fighter 6 as well, you know. Oh, sorry. Street Fighter 5. Yeah. Jerry's also a chorus character too now, right? Yeah. Jesus. Everything is in my grasp. Now it's furious. Jesus Christ, bro. What the hell? So cool. Just bonkers. That is a That is probably one of the craziest supras I've ever seen in Street Fighter history. Like, no kidding. Living tribunal [ __ ] Let's just cause a nexus event, you know? Yeah, weirdly enough, I never really was attached to Jaime's uh chores stuff with drinking. Like I felt like some of his moves got better obviously, but not like not better enough to be like, "Oh, this is so crazy how different he is." Like sort of, you know, fantabulic. Yeah, that's a target combo in the air. Things got better with Jamie Lley mid tierish. That makes sense. They had to, you know, he was very hard to use. Season 4 announcement or Evo too soon. We'll be talking about that. We will be talking about that. Weird normals, dude. Oh yeah. Do we need to do another rate the super for Street Fighter 6 season 1, two, and three? Oh no. Like Se Viper did not end up being all too crazy. She sort of was just like, "Yep, that's the Sea Viper we kind of remember." And she's really not that much different than she was in Street Fighter 4. Um Sagot felt like an evolution of Sagot. Alex felt like a new alternative take on Alex in ways we were very much unexpecting. And now Ingred is like, "Okay, so here's Ingred like you never could have thought she would be." It would be funny if this character already is lining up with the design decisions that is moving forward and possibly moving forward maybe crazy drive rushes in neutral aren't as uh aren't as pull up on you as they were before. And then drive rush just in general is like still good but only within certain specific ranges, you know. I'm just gonna throw it out there just maybe so that they can add air drive impact and it acts like a scorpion teleport from Injustice 1. like Ryu will jump UP BACK DRIVE IMPACT and it'll leave and come across the other screen and hit you for an overhead that does full conversion and we'll have to deal with it or y'all have to deal with it and I'll start playing something else. Um so that has been that way for quite some time to give a two week in advance. notification as well as a hype up to what is known as a what is it what are they describing it as a 60inute state of play it's somewhere in here also they're doing Alamo Draft House which I thought was like actual like an actual event they're going to be premiering this at no no this is somewhat closer to a uh like just theater showings right so if you want to go to like a Nintendo Direct you can watch it at the like Nintendo store it's kind of like that so you you can go to. But still, what is the point of that being that way? They want people to be showing up and recording reactions and [ __ ] Like that's the only reason you have that stuff, dude. Cuz like this stuff has been functioning this way for god knows how long now. They are sort of accustomed to people giving online reactions to everything. So they want the reactions of people and audiences in some way. So that that's what that is seeming like to me, you know, like I don't know, at least some in some way that feels like that is a marketing push to allow for some announcements to be even bigger than they normally would be with just online. So like E3, well, not exactly. They're in theater houses, right? There's probably some setup for it, but you know, even in previous state of plays, they're not like if they say it would be this long, it isn't that long on the dot. It usually runs a bit after because they want they don't want you to be looking at the timer and it's like, "Oh, it's going to be over. It's gonna be over." They usually like to surprise you. That happens a lot. Sometimes they're on time, sometimes they're not. Is this the first day to play being two weeks in advance? That was what we were just talking about. Usually, um, if we go back to the PlayStation showcase, they would be announced like a week to two weeks ahead of time, but usually State of Plays are like two to three days. So apparently it unsubed people paying subscriptions and it also unfollowed a ton of people. even us being in that category for 6 seconds and yeah, within like a comparable amount of time, I was like, "Wow, I lost 10% of my sub count in that time frame.
