5 Boring BUT Overlooked YouTube Channels Quietly Making Bank
Chapters16
The creator teases a video about boring, overlooked YouTube channels that are quietly profitable and promises to reveal their niche, strategy, and earnings.
Boring-looking YouTube channels can be fatally profitable, from vibe-coding to antique books to goofy 90s webcam rants, if you copy the right monetization blueprint.
Summary
Shane Hummus spots a counterintuitive pattern: channels that look dull often rake in big money. He highlights Bridgemine’s “vibe coding” approach, where live coding sessions and daily builds monetize through ads and a paid product, despite modest view counts. Think Science stands out as a faceless science channel pulling ad revenue in the high thousands, aided by viral hits like 70% of humans have brown eyes. Tom Ailing proves you can turn a niche hobby—antiquarian books—into significant earnings through AdSense and careful product showcases. Rainphase demonstrates that raw, low-production videos with simple rant-format content can attract millions of views and meaningful revenue, emphasizing the value of authenticity over polish. Across these examples, Shane emphasizes that you don’t need glossy production to win; you need smart monetization, audience targeting, and consistency. He teases a live workshop and a GPT-driven Niche Validator tool to help viewers replicate the success, warning that most new creators fail but offering a path to replicate “hidden profitable YouTube niches.”
Key Takeaways
- Vibe coding channels like Bridgemine can earn six figures monthly through a mix of ad revenue from long, live sessions and paid offerings (e.g., a $20/month product).
- Think Science earns substantial AdSense revenue (estimates range from $7,000 to $24,000/month) from science videos that go viral, even as the channel remains largely faceless.
- Antiquarian book channels like Tom Ailing monetize through AdSense and book sales, proving that highly niche hobbies can scale financially when paired with lean production.
- Rainphase shows that extremely low-production videos (webcam-era look, minimal editing) can yield multi-million-view milestones and strong earnings, underscoring the value of authenticity over polish.
- The creator’s strategy emphasizes borrowing 20% from multiple sources (inspiration, not copying) and building a unique approach by combining learnings from several “boring” channels.
- There’s a clear call to action to join a free live workshop and explore the Niche Validator Pro 2.0.5 tool for uncovering profitable YouTube niches and viral ideas.

Last night when I was researching this video, I found a YouTube channel about coding that was so boring that it nearly put me to sleep. It's literally just a guy who shows himself coding in real time. And he is making absolute bank from his channel. And nobody really knows it most likely, but I'm going to show you his niche, what he's doing, his strategy, and how he's making money from this channel. And then I've got a bunch of others, five total boring but overlooked YouTube channels that are quietly making banks. So if you appreciate me doing this type of video, let me know by gently tapping that like button.
And let's jump in right after we do a quick disclaimer. So the disclaimer is I show you these videos not for you to copy them. I do not want you to copy these people, but I want you to get inspiration from them, right? there's probably something that they're doing that you can steal maybe 20% of and add it to your strategy and make something completely unique. Or you can maybe even steal uh 20% from five different people and then just make completely unique content, right? Additionally, I want you to get motivation from these videos because a lot of these are going to be so unbelievably simple that you're just not going to believe that they're making money, but they are.
And in many cases, they're doing it very quickly, too. And then the third disclaimer is most people that start on YouTube, just like any other business out there, do not get success. And that is why I make these videos to educate you on how to properly do YouTube. I make a lot of amazing content completely free on this channel. Additionally, I'm doing a live stream, a workshop. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming. And let's jump in with number one on the list, which is going to be Bridgemine. Now, this channel helps aspiring founders and software builders ship AI products using Vibe Coding. And he is building in public with Vibe coding demos, tool breakdowns, and weekly build logs that you can copy. Really, really interesting in some ways, but also boring in other ways type channel. Let me show you what I mean. So, if you look at his normal YouTube videos, you'll see that this one, for instance, was posted 4 weeks ago.
In this video, I'm going to be using Open Code, and I'm going to be vibe coding with Open Code. And by the way, this guy's channel is relatively new. He did post about a year ago, but then he pretty much stopped posting until about 5 months ago. And even then, he wasn't totally consistent. He's only just gotten consistent in the last few months. But his most popular video here, Vibe Coding with Open Code, only got about 26,000 views. So, you might be thinking, Shane, how in the world is he making money when his videos aren't getting that many views?
Well, first of all, this is a lot of views for the audience he's attracting. A lot of people that he's attracting here are entrepreneurs, highlevel coding people who are trying to make software, and startup founders. So, this is actually a lot of views when you consider that. But, additionally, if you go to his lives tab, you'll see that he does a live every single day. Sometimes two lives a day where all he does is vibe code. He literally just vibe codes the whole freaking time. And the craziest thing about these lives is, you know, this is 12,000 22,000 views.
You might again think that's not very much. That is a ton for a live because lives ad revenue is a lot more than normal videos. And additionally, often times people will stay a lot longer during lives than they do for a normal video. So, the average person might have stayed 20 or 30 minutes for this video, which means the ad revenue was off the charts. Now, additionally, that's just the money he's making from ad revenue. You see, he also has products and services that he is selling on his channel. For instance, he's got this product right here that's about $20 a month.
And I'm sure he's getting a ton of people signed up for his product. And then, additionally, he's literally building in public on his channel. And he even says that his mission is to vibe code his way to $1 million and nothing stands in his way. Stop typing and start shipping. Love it. So, the funny thing is there's tons of people I know that vibe code or use these different coding tools like 12 hours a day and they're not recording it. And all this guy did is he's doing the exact same thing as those people, but he's just recording it.
That's it. Like that's all of his content. Unbelievably boring, but he's making a ton of money doing this. And I would be willing to bet that he's making at least $10,000 a month. Probably more like 20 to $30,000 a month with this channel. And he just started the channel and it's, you know, he's going to be making a lot more money. So, I'm sure we're going to do an update on him in the future. All right. Next channel is Think Science. And this is a channel that is relatively boring. It's all about science, which for a lot of people is boring.
And their most popular video was about 1 month ago, and it's what's your eye color really saying about you? They also had another video about 10 days ago, 10 things that change when you start walking daily. And then another video, the best and worst sleep positions for your body ranked. Now, according to Vid IQ, they're making about $7,000 to $21,000 a month. And according to View Stats, they're making about $8,000 to $24,000 a month. And that's just from AdSense alone, of course. And if you look at their most popular video, which just recently blew up, got 3.5 million views, that video made 17,000.
Over 70% of humans have brown eyes. Not bad for a boring science related video. Now, one thing I want to say, this is a faceless channel. I typically don't recommend doing faceless channels unless you do them in a very specific way. And there's so many reasons that I recommend not doing them. One of the biggest ones is that they're super easy to copy. So, I'm sure this channel already has like 10 copycat channels making the exact same content in the exact same style. They may even be a copycat channel themselves, sadly. And that is one of the reasons why I recommend not doing faceless channels unless you do them in this one way, which is you choose an avatar that represents you.
So, you don't have to show your face, but you choose an avatar. It's kind of like a cartoon figure that represents you. Now, there's more to it than that. This is another thing that I go over in my live training. Click the link in the description and the pin comment below. So, there's more to it than that, but that is by far the smartest way of doing a faceless channel. This is something that other people that I've worked with have done. And sometimes they choose to reveal their face in the future or sometimes they just stay faceless.
But it's much smarter if you choose an avatar that represents you. All right. Next one is going to be Tom Ailing. Now, this is the definition of boring, at least for some people. Basically, Tom has an antique bookstore where he basically sells rare books and manuscripts. Now, he calls himself an anti-quarian book seller. Antiquarian, antiquarian, I don't even know how to pronounce that, but it sounds kind of boring, at least for most people. But yeah, he has these antique books. They look really cool. They're very beautiful to look at and he's really really into books.
Now, according to view stats, he's making about five to$14,000 a month with this channel. And that's just from AdSense alone. And actually, thank goodness and respect to you, Tom. Thank you for doing this. But he actually did a video where he's transparent about how much money he's making from YouTube. Can only pay myself as the business owner out of profits that we make. There is still some profit left. But yeah, sometimes he'll sell like really old books. So yes, they're antique, but they're actually old. They have history. And then sometimes they'll just sell really fancy versions of all kinds of different books.
And so for some people, this is just like watching paint dry, watching grass grow, levels of boring. But for some people, they might like books a lot. And if that's you, you could start a channel kind of like this. Maybe you have a weird hobby that a lot of other people have as well, and you could probably start a channel like this. You know, one really good saying that I heard from Naval Ravocant is do what seems like work to others but feels like play to you, right? And that's probably exactly what Tom Ailing is doing.
For a lot of people, this would be incredibly boring doing these like rare books, but for him, it's probably exhilarating. He probably loves it. Probably seems like play to him. So, awesome stuff for Tom. Congrats on his success. And that is another example of a boring but overlooked YouTube channel that is quietly making bank. All right guys, this next channel is absolutely mindblowing. This channel is called Rainphase and they basically post videos that look like they were recorded with a webcam from the '9s. I am not kidding. These videos have zero editing. They look like they're recorded with a webcam from the '90s.
Even the audio is pretty bad, honestly. And it's just him ranting about random stuff. Literally everything is a performance. Everything is performative. So, just as an example, thoughts on social isolation. Now, by the way, when I first saw this video pop up, I literally thought it must have been a video from like 15 years ago. It isn't. It's from 1 year ago and it got 1.9 million views. So guys, when I tell you that you do not have to have high production value and high, you know, like super nice video editing and super nice camera and a super nice lens with super nice setting uh set and and lighting and all that stuff.
You don't for most niches. You really don't. I mean, even me, when I first started on YouTube, I had the most basic setup ever. That way, you can make a really good living and you don't have to spend the rest of your life playing the game of loans. Most of this setup is just to make it easier for me to record videos, right? And also just me getting bored and like trying to learn more about the thing that I do, right? But I started off with a super basic setup where I'm just recording my screen with a webcam and then I I did some phone videos and then eventually I got like a potato camera and it kind of sucked and I learned a little bit there and then I just kind of went down the line and eventually I got like nice cameras and stuff but I learned just mostly out of boredom.
But you absolutely do not have to have a super fancy setup. There's example after example after example of YouTubers that are successful with basic setups. And here is one of them. And just from posting in the last year, he's already gotten 50,000 subscribers with this basic setup, by the way. And from this video with 1.9 million views, it says he made about $2.6,000. I would estimate. Generally speaking, for education content, you usually make about $10 per 1,000 views. But because this one is a bit of a shorter video, I would say he probably made about $5 per 1,000 views, which would mean that he made pretty close to $10,000 from this video that is just dead simple.
I mean, it looks like it was recorded with a webcam from the '90s, right? Like I don't even know if that's a thing, but a super super old webcam from like 20 years ago. Now, the truth is he is probably not monetizing this channel correctly simply because he probably just doesn't know how to do it. But if he did monetize it correctly, he could be making a heck of a lot more money than that. Cuz his simple type content often times does attract people who would like to work with you more because it's really raw authentic content.
And the reason people watch it is because it feels like they're talking to a friend over the internet. So the views are actually worth more when you make this type of content. And that's why I urge most of the people I work with to try to make their content simpler. Try to make it faster, simpler, more raw and authentic in many cases. Not necessarily this simple, but simpler. And one of those people that I worked with was my own brother, Zach. He basically came to me. He was like, "Shane, I'm 50 years old now. Been working in the trades for 30 years.
I don't want to do this forever cuz it's tough on my body. What should I do?" I told him, "Start on YouTube." Of course, he listened to me. One month after posting his first video, he already had a $214 day. That's a $78,000 year run rate. He was also making money from other stuff that I was telling him to do. less than half a year after posting on YouTube, he had a $500 day. Plus, he's making more money from affiliate marketing as well and other things. And he's absolutely crushing it right now. And by the way, we'll be giving an update on him uh at the live training.
So, click that link in the description in the pin comment this one. And there's a good chance he might actually show up to the live as well. So, definitely do not miss out on that. Click the link in the description and the pin comment below. But yeah, my brother makes dead simple content and he actually listened to me on that content and did exactly what I told him to do, which is great. So, if you watch his very first video, it is dead simple. It's very obvious that he's talking uh on a teleprompter. He's basically reading off of a teleprompter as well.
Meanwhile, I've got buddies pulling in six figures in trades we've probably never even heard of because he wasn't very good at presenting. And that's completely fine. It's not a big deal. you don't have to be good at presenting. It didn't matter because the video absolutely blew up and it changed his life and now he's going to be selling his HVAC business and he's going to be basically doing YouTube and he barely has to work on it. He probably spends less than 4 hours a week on his channel. So, his content's dead simple. He just uh puts it on a teleprompter.
His scripts usually take him 15 minutes to write because he writes them in the way that we recommend, which does not take very much time at all. And he's crushing it. not only is monetizing from his channel, but more importantly, he's monetizing from a lot of other ways as well. So, yeah, definitely check that out down in the description in the pin comment below. Now, I know for 99% of people that watch my content, they're never going to work with myself or my team directly like Zach did. But if you want to know the coaching program that Zach went through to get these results, it's pretty much only for people who really want to take YouTube seriously for uh business owners who want to use YouTube to get leads for their business.
For YouTubers that are getting views, but they're having trouble monetizing, or for YouTubers that are already crushing it, but they want to crush it even more. For those types of people, we have a coaching program only for people who are very serious about growing and making money on YouTube, and only for people who want to start now. So, if that is you, go ahead, click that link in the description and the pinned comment below. Or if it's not there, go ahead and go to my about section and the link should be there and you can book a strategy session with my team.
We only accept about 18% of people who apply. So, make sure you watch the video on the page and also when you apply, make sure your answers are really good. And you can check out a video right here from someone who did exactly that and got amazing results.
