Syntax
Hosted by Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski since 2017, Syntax has published over 900 podcast episodes on full-stack web development, covering everything from HTML, CSS, JavaScript, server side languages, databases, deployment environments, and more. In 2023 Syntax.fm joined forces with Level Up Tutorials adding 2000+ free video tutorials to our library. Wes Bos is co-host of Syntax and a web development educator. Constantly learning, he creates web development courses focused on JavaScript, TypeScript, React, CSS, Node.js and whatever else comes his way. Scott Tolinski is co-host of Syntax and the creator of Level Up Tutorials. In his free time Scott is a dedicated Bboy (breakdancer) & enjoys pushing himself athletically through dance, working out and snowboarding. CJ joined the team to help make YouTube videos that dive deeper into topics covered on the podcast. He is a full stack software developer and the host of Coding Garden. Has AI melted our brains? Dev Cardio Challenge!
In a live coding challenge, the presenter works through implementing several array and data transformation tasks, comparing approaches, and debugging in real time as teammates compete to get all tests passing.

How to Fix Vibe Coding
The video discusses turning AI coding vibes into deterministic, testable outputs by using a range of code quality tools and integration techniques to reduce reliance on guesswork. It covers tools for linting, complexity analysis, CSS quality, component testing, bug tracking, formatting, and how to orchestrate these with AI agents.

Syntax LIVE! 1000th Episode Special
This episode marksSyntaxs thousandth episode milestone and features a retrospective with the whole team, sharing the show’s origin, team growth, production shifts, sponsorship history, and plans for future events and meetups.

Rating and Roasting Your Projects
Wes and Scott riff on a wide array of near-future developer tools and AI-assisted workflows, from browser extensions for JSON viewing to fast file search (FFF) and browser-based agent tooling (agentation). They also explore design/UX tooling (Comark, Peakdown), task orchestration with Dex, and insights on sandboxing, security, and the evolving ecosystem of AI-enabled development tools.

Recreating NASA’s UI with Prompts | Vibe Off!
Two hosts race to build a real time Artemis 2 location visualization using only prompts, AI agents, and APIs, judged on accuracy, visualization, and overall vibe. The video chronicles rule setup, data source discovery, iterative AI-driven implementation, and a live verdict on the final visuals and performance.

10 New CSS and HTML APIs
The episode surveys a wave of upcoming CSS and HTML capabilities, from masonry-like layouts via CSS grid lanes and container-based CSS scopes, to HTML inside canvas and new UI/animation primitives. The hosts demo a variety of experiments (random values in CSS, view transitions, search-text styling, border shapes, multicolumn fixes, and more) and discuss browser support, practical use cases, and the potential impact on web design and UI development.

Next.js Vendor Lock-in No More
Tim and Jimmy discuss Nex.js's adapters platform and how it enables hosting Nex.js on multiple providers and runtimes (Cloudflare, Netlify, bun, etc.). They dive into the adapters API, its stabilization timeline, caching and performance features, and the rationale behind a platform-agnostic integration approach, including testing practices and future directions like runtime and offline caching improvements.

We react to the CLOSEST Mad CSS Battle
The video recaps a close battle from the Mad CSS tournament between Cassidy and Josh, discusses on-screen design decisions, and shares insights on AI autocomplete, color choices, and potential format improvements for future competitions.

AI Sucks At CSS
The hosts explore how AI interacts with front-end development, design systems, and performance, debating when to rely on prompts, rules, or dedicated agents. They share practical experiences with CSS, tooling like Sentry, Vibe Rules, and Skills, and discuss how humans, systems thinking, and tooling like Tailwind, Composer interviews, and design tools shape real-world AI-assisted workflows.

It’s Been A Hell Of Week
The episode digs into a whirlwind week of tech chaos, from Claude Code leaking its source and Axios getting hacked to a deep dive on source maps, cache invalidation, and other security headaches. The hosts discuss lessons on dependency safety, debunk common takes about demos, and wrap with practical notes on tooling (PNPM, caching headers) and a stream of personal tech picks about chargers, headphones, and devices.
