Summary

Maximilian Dood jumps into an early PS5 preview of Saros, sharing his anticipation for the game from the Returnal studio. He emphasizes the blistering pace, snappy movement, and the signature audio-visual storytelling that Returnal fans will recognize. The session showcases key systems like active reload, shield blocking, and the corrupted-eclipse dynamic that ramps up danger and rewards. He experiments with the new Sulturi assault rifle, melee, and shield interactions while noting how damage, corruption, and integrity mechanics interact in real time. Visuals and sound design are highlighted as standout elements, with the shield reflections and particle effects getting particular praise. He also mentions that Saros supports permanent upgrades through binary cycles and armor matrix nodes, a core loop that encourages dying to grow stronger. The video ends with a promise to return for more run-and-learn sessions and a reminder that Saros launches April 30 on PlayStation 5, with a link in the description for curious players. Overall, it reads as a high-energy, first-impressions look at a game that blends fast action, roguelite progression, and Returnal-inspired design cues.

Let's go. What's up, dudes? Max here. Uh, got a pretty unique opportunity today for one of my most anticipated games, also from the same studio behind Returnal, which was my game of the year back in 2021. PlayStation were kind enough to sponsor today's video for Sorrowos, which I'll be doing an early preview of. This is going to be coming out on April 30th on PlayStation 5 and has been one of my most anticipated games ever since it was announced. Returnal was absolutely goated. I love that game. One of my favorite PlayStation games that's been released thus far. And Sorrowos, while not being a direct sequel to Returnal, does have some spiritual elements. It is a third person action shooter. It's all about dying and recovering and learning and getting stronger. I have kind of been keeping myself in the dark of this game for quite some time. many of the trailers and story things which were very integral back in Returnal. I wanted to be a surprise because so much of that surprise was extremely important to me when I played Returnal a few years ago. Anyway, let's get this thing started. I'm just going to go through the beginning of the game. I'm going to have some of its systems and features just get some first baseline impressions of how this stuff plays. And again, if you guys are curious about the game, Sorrowos comes out on April 30th for PlayStation 5. There should be a link down in the description below. Let's get this thing started. Whoa. Right into it. Dang. Oh, dude. He is fast. Hella cool. What the hell is that? Oh. Oh boy. This is familiar. Cool. Dude, the sound design. My god. Yep. I got to get used to the active reloading again. Oh, this is new. All right. I like the effect of them just like hovering on top of the shield. R1 to block and absorb projectiles. Ow. Okay. All right. Jeez, this is so fast-paced. My god, what in the hell is that? Oh my god. Wow. Stuff everywhere. particles exploded into a Christmas tree. They see they're talking about you have to die and get stronger. Cool. I don't ever plan on dying. Oh god. Doesn't count. This is going to be a stop and smell the roses kind of game for me. If you are so What in the hell? Ow. Got to dodge red, absorb blue. Jesus. Jesus. Wow. Oh my god. Can I hold the shield forever? A dude. What did I get it? I think I got it to like half health. Not Not scripted. It's not a scripted. Ah, it is. Dude, the vibe of this is so weird. I love it. Okay. All right. So, we are playing this on PS5 Pro just as a heads up in case it looks a little bit different. This is the mega bells and whistles version. Damn, brother. Damn. Plot a route to that Sultari signal. Map data corrupted. Marking approximate location. I think the thing that's getting me the most is how fast and snappy the movement Like it's so quick. It feels like I'm playing Returnal almost at two times speed. Nice uh shield. Yeah. Unknown power signature. Yum. Yum. Integration suggested. Is this going to be a buff? Power integrated. Open the path. My suit is having trouble. Hold L2 all the way down to use your power weapon. Oh yeah, regular bang bang and then Wow. Okay. Oh boy. Damn. Wow. Yeah, I'm not even using my melee that much, but it seems like it's doing something. Oh yeah, the melee is good. Ooh. Ooh. God. Jeez. Jerome, eyes up. We've got trouble. Now you see the kind of [ __ ] I've been dealing with. Best we avoid that thing. Sulturi weapon detected. Are we finally getting a new gun? Sulturi assault rifle. Highspeed auto fire. All right. Oh. All right. All right. All right. Oo, cool. OW. Can I jump up and like? Yeah. Yes, I can. Is that reflecting the bullets? Oh, it's a red shield. I got to get in there. Yeah, the bullets were reflecting back and hitting me. Warning, extreme threat detected. Uh, hi. Oh my god. Okay. Please die. Thank you. Solar cage dissipated. All the cool ass visual storytelling I'm remembering from Returnal. Dude, no other dev does it like these guys. What are these? Huh? Was that them? The ancients biological evidence required. Melee stagger autotarget radius into missile velocity. Sure. I'm just picking up everything. Composite constructed centuries ago. Yes, just touch that. Seems like a good idea. It was a bad idea. Amazing. Glorious. Jay, I think I messed up. Aroso has been changed by the eclipse. Hostiles have become more dangerous and will now fire corrupted projectiles. All lucinite has been enriched. Oh, so this is during an eclipse. It's high risk, high reward. What the hell happened to that hostile? Abnormal energy zone matches solar conditions. Saturation fire. Uh, so we can choose between No, no, no, no. I'm digging my my multi-shot Contra gun right now. Bunch of hidden paths to collect stuff. I'm loving it. You're just like a little perceptive. You see all these extra areas like this. Dealing damage restores integrity at low integrity. What? Oh, wow. That's amazing. Begins. Oh, okay. A! Get out of here. What? Get this thing, dude. I'm dealing with it right now. These blobs. Ah, I got to get better at switching between like shield and dodge and all that stuff constantly. Getting it with corrupted projectiles causes corruption to build. Corrupted diminishes the max integrity of your armor. I see it now. It's below my face. That's not good. the those the smooth ass guitar rift in the background every time I see something new okay all right getting hairy yeah come Come on you. Come on. What's this thing shooting goop everywhere? Warning. Alpha hostile. Whoa. Uh hello. Hello. Oh my god. Okay, I got to run up and Ah! Oh my god, brother. I want to live. There's no way more dudes just popped. OH GOD. OH MY GOD, DUDE. Oh man. All right, so there you have it. That was my first run in Sorrowos. Um, got to die and grow and get back stronger. That's like the whole point of it. Spend resources collected during cycles to unlock alterations. These are armor matrix nodes which permanently upgrade your abilities. Yeah. Okay. Attribute enhancers can be dropped by hostiles. Oh, so yeah, that's the thing I've unlocked through dying on the first run. Now we get like permanent enhancements. Sick, dude. Well, you know, I'm going to be back. This is definitely going to be a game we're going to sink our teeth into. I love the stuff where it's like super high risk but high reward. Uh, and you have to make those choices in the middle of a run. Yeah. Yeah. I like I like the idea of every run being super unique and weird and different. So anyway, I got to give another big shout out to PlayStation for sponsoring the video. It means a lot because I've been looking forward to this. And if you guys are curious about the game, it's going to be available on April 30th on PlayStation 5. There's a link down in the description below. We'll be streaming this. I'll be putting up my full playthrough. I can't wait to play more. And yeah, if you guys like this, leave me a thumbs up below or a comment because I'll be back to play more Soros in the very near future. Heat. Hey, heat. Hey, heat.
