The hosts express long awaited enthusiasm for Aliens Fireteam and reminisce about the original co op experience and its progression systems.

Maximilian Dood is pumped for Alien Fireteam Elite 2, praising its four-player co-op, crossplay ambition, and new class system while hoping for more improvements over the original.

Summary

Maximilian Dood expresses strong anticipation for Alien Fireteam Elite 2, recalling how much he enjoyed the original co-op experience with Kenny and Simmons. He notes that, although Fireteam 1 wasn’t a perfect single-player title, its co-op progression, weapon trees, and class branching made for a memorable build-your-loadout experience. In the reveal discussion, he highlights the key changes shown so far: four-player crossplay, a new xenomorph type, improved and customizable classes, and a fully playable horde mode at launch. Maximilian mentions Cold Iron Studios and Daybreak as the developer and publisher, and remarks on the trailer’s vibe being familiar but with enough new twists to justify attention. He references the inclusion of a “Call of Duty–style” specialist class and wonders how the new content will balance with the original’s systems. The discussion touches on the potential timing of a Summer Game Fest reveal and the possibility of more information rolling out in IGN’s editorial coverage. Throughout, he remains cautiously optimistic, praising the direction while hoping for further polish and content depth closer to release. The video blends hype with a retrospective look at Fireteam Elite 1’s strengths and gaps, setting expectations for the sequel’s long-tail improvements. Finally, he notes the practicalities of launch, such as crossplay and Horde mode, as signals that the team is listening to fan feedback while keeping the franchise faithful to its roots.

LET'S GO. HERE WE GO. HONESTLY, ONE OF MY MOST anticipated games. Yeah, we've been looking forward to this for a long time. Aliens Fireteam 1, the three-player experience I had with Kenny and Simmons was just wonderful. I get it, that game wasn't as good as a single-player experience. Hopefully, that's alleviated a little bit with Fireteam Elite 2. But, for those that might have missed the YouTube video or the streams that we put up a few years back, maybe one of my favorite Aliens games. Like, outside of like Alien Isolation, legit, it was just as a co-op experience, so good. The progression, weapon progression, the stat building, you know, all the all the cool like branching paths that you had to build for each class and stuff like that. It was really neat to like make a crazy build blasting Aliens and stuff like that. And the DLC was awesome. Like, the DLC was legit mad fun. I'm pretty excited. I want to see more. If anyone is listening, this is Dr. Lily Pierce on planet LV-558 and Stores Boon. Xenomorphs have overrun the colony. I repeat, overrun the colony. We're running out of air and people are dying. Send the marines. Send everyone. Oh, yes. Contact. Three players? What? There was four in the teaser picture. Oh, they're attracted to flares? They're everywhere. Those guys aren't just shooting. Not a lot of coordination. Is this the fourth player? Or is it literally like Hicks or some [ __ ] You know, it's player four. Hell yeah. Sorry I'm late. Hell yeah. They know. We bitched about four player, dude. Everybody bitched about four players. YEAH. YEAH. DAMN, IT really looks like the original a bit. It looks like the bar like it looks like more Alien Fireteam. I'm seeing some weird [ __ ] though. Hell yeah, brother. What the hell is that like a plasma caster on that dude's shoulder? Robots now. Even not androids, but like robots. Cool. The damn spitters, dude. Yeah. I'm feeling good. I'm I'm feeling it it really doesn't look like mind-blowing or it's like oh god, I can't uh it looks like more of what you liked a lot from part one, you know? Hey, part one worked out pretty well. Let's just go with it, you know? Which is fine. THAT'S COMPLETELY FINE. OH, THAT'S very soon. Summer 2026? [ __ ] is this going to drop out like right when Starfox happens or something? Damn. Okay. Cold Iron Studios, God bless him. Daybreak is publishing. This came out in 2021. Oh my god. The most obvious new change you'll see in the trailer above is the addition of four players to the xenomorph blasting action. There's some plenty more to tell you about it show you Aliens: Fireteam 2 on our IGN first editorial. All that will roll out exclusively over time in the next couple of weeks. Oh, okay. So, they'll be back with a bunch of information on the game. A few details now. Full crossplay. Hell yeah. And there is a new Xenomorph type, improved player classes, as well as the specialist, a fully customizable class that lets you mix and match abilities from any class. It's like literally a a Call of Duty specialist. Holy [ __ ] Fireteam Elite 2 will also launch with horde mode with dedicated horde maps. Interesting. Right, I'm trying to remember what happened in part one. I think that was a limitation. I think there was like some story-locked [ __ ] in part one where you had to play through parts of the game in order to get some of the extra multiplayer stuff unlocked. And now I think they're trying to say that it's just available from the start. I can't remember. It's been 5 years. It doesn't look visually like that crazy different from the first one. I wouldn't be surprised if it looks better by the time it gets in our hands and stuff like that. The recon class was unlocked by beating it and more added for free. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They they they they did expand the game a bit. It didn't get that much support. It got like six-ish months of support, but that was about it. Very cool. I hope they show something at Summer Game Fest, dude. If If they showed this here a month before SGF, I hope there's an opportunity for them to actually be there. [music]
