Overview of Ingrid as a cosmic entity and the ambition for a striking reveal in the trailer.

Ingrid in Street Fighter 6 looks wild, hyper-animated, and dangerously creative—Maximilian Dood breaks down why she’s a total game-changer.

Summary

Maximilian Dood dives into Ingrid’s Street Fighter 6 reveal with palpable excitement, highlighting how Capcom pushed her into unapologetic weirdness and interdimensional power. He notes her high-effort presentation, anime-infused soundtrack, and how she deliberately distances herself from grounded nostalgia to embrace cosmic flair. Maximilian contrasts Ingrid with prior iterations, explaining how the character’s new moveset and install-based Sun Specials redefine her kit. He also draws on historical context, mentioning Capcom Fighting Jam and Capcom Fighting Allstars to explain Ingrid’s canon-era origins and why her evolution feels earned. The breakdown covers her tools like Sunshot variants, Suncrest stacking, Sunflare combinations, and the dramatic vanishing sun teleports, all of which create several unique gameplay avenues. He praises the trailer’s ability to keep the character visually coherent even as she leans into space-age absurdity, noting that even slower-downs can reveal the polish in animation frames. Throughout, Maximilian emphasizes how Ingrid’s design signals a broader commitment from Street Fighter 6 to deliver distinct, high-effort characters who push the meta rather than recycle old effects. He acknowledges some fans’ mixed feelings about Ingrid’s previous appearances, framing this version as a bold reset that could become a fan-favorite. The discussion closes with a sense of anticipation for her May 28 release window and the potential for high-level competition to test her out in world tour, training mode, and online fights.

Key Takeaways

Let's go. Let's see how crazy she is. Are they going to make her just I want her to turn into a space alien. I want at some point in this trailer for her to grab the zipper above her head like it's Men in Black one and it just reveals the most craziest like cosmic horror creature. I want that. That should be her wind pose or some [ __ ] OF THE CHARACTERS. OH, what the hell am I looking at? Oh, we should see her for how she actually is. This cosmic entity. What am I? I am many things. An extradimensional being, a peacekeeper, a guardian angel, a code holder. Bro, a code holder. I'll talk later. It's a code holder. Jesus, dude. Greetings. Wow. Wow. She is maximum effort. She has her own anime music. Oh my god, bro. Dude, why is she so high effort? That's insane. What the [ __ ] What the [ __ ] Full teleport projectile combos from full screen. There is a lot of throwback moves. We'll have to play Ingrid in Fighting Jam. She's also in cross Tekken. Weird [ __ ] You're a millennial. Right on time. Guilty. Oh, she's outzoning the zoner. Okay, I see it. She's totally She's mega zoner, dude. There's a depiction in this trailer. She's outzoning the zoner. Her classic outfit looks very good. I hated this character so much for so long, but this is so much effort, dude. Huh? What in the hell? She has like a hammer of dawn. [ __ ] did you just grow wings? This looks very fun. Some of this stuff looks mad annoying. I dispel my power onto you. Oh, that you need an example here. useful. Oh, well, I can't say no to this. Off I go. That is the wildest. So, they did it. They They menoded Ingred, right? Where like Menot was crazy in terms of like what a character could be in Street Fighter, but she was still pretty grounded. Now this character is crazy and not grounded. Oh, keep going. Oh, it's not. Sorry. I forgot I have an urgent matter. Ew. Babysit this one for a while. Come on. Bro, could you set that up after a stun combo? That's actually really funny. Reminds me of um [ __ ] Who did that? MK11. Uh Bug Chick. What was her name? D'Vorah. Thank you. Yeah, that's cute. I like I like funny ass cute gameplay things. You'll be able to do that against the computer, you know? I wanted that to actually happen. I want I want somebody at the highest level of competition to lose to that little piece of [ __ ] Like that's what I want. I want at the highest level of competition. Somebody's going to lose to this thing. I will say there is a reason why people feel the way they do about Ingrid and it was because she was directly attached to like trashy games, right? She was either a reused asset put into specific versions of games like Alpha 3 Max or she was in a trashy game which was Street Fighter uh or Capcom Fighting Jam, right? And her association by and large which is why there was so anim so much animosity towards her is because she was like the hero character of what was one of the most socially unacceptable Capcom fighting games there was because yeah it sucked. It was like there was an expectation that Capcom fighting games should be good and she was the hero character in a game that sucked. So, it's really weird to me to see maximum effort because she looked fine in the old game. She looked fine, but she was she felt extremely uninspired, you know? She felt like she's just trying to be an SNK character. Um, and now she is going all over the place, dude. She's What the hell is this? They fully leaned into the weirdness of the character. And let me tell you guys one crazy thing. Call me what you wish. It's me, Ingrid. Wait for it. Oh, wait. Tell me what you wish. An extra dimensional being, a peacecaper, a guardian angel, a cold holder. Chad, do you know what a code holder is? I don't blame you, you stupid bastards. Cuz it was a game that never existed. It's for a game that literally never existed called Street Fighter Allstars. And it was a 3D Capcom fighting game that happened a long time ago that was in arcades, but it was arcade location tested. Never came out. Never. It eventually got cancelled. So, um, if I just Google Capcom cold Holder, what the what are what are the other weird [ __ ] Uh, the the two main weirdo, the cowboy guy and some [ __ ] in in the front of the code holder. Dee and Rook. Thank you. See, she is the cold holder with these two guys, Dee and Rook. Characters that have just been previously a part of a Capcom fighting game. They just look like SNK characters, but you know, have not historically been because the game never existed. So, her and the other two [ __ ] in here are the code holders. And there was just a bunch of Capcom fighting game characters all over the place. They're canon. They are actually canon. Yes, they are in the Street Fighter website. They're actually canon, but they never came out. There's footage of YouTube of CFAS, right? There is from the location test in the first trailer. I know. I was looking forward to it. I was on SRK when the location test footage was posted and people were playing it. We were all very excited for it until it never happened. Till it never happened. So, yeah, that's what Cold Holder is. She this she was technically the main character of a once canceled Capcom fighting game and then they put her into the next Capcom Fighting Allstars which was Bunk which was Capcom Fighting Jam. Uh anyway that's her that's her history but not like this like this version of the character this [ __ ] her being this wild inter interdimensional being and stuff. She's She's kind of been a weird godly character before, but she just looked like a school girl who didn't give a [ __ ] Now, now she's a lot more. She's so well animated, dude. Holy [ __ ] This is crazy. Here's the thing I really appreciate about Street Fighter is that for as much as you don't like maybe jive with the game because the game just has not changed that much over the past four years when they release a DLC character. Holy [ __ ] It's like you see the effort, right? You actually see how much effort they're putting into their characters, man. There's not a lot there's not a lot of crazy like rehash and all that kind of stuff. No, no, no, dude. They are they are going ham on some of these characters, dude. Like I would not expect them to put this much effort into Ingrid. In fact, I'd argue of all the characters we saw throughout this season, the one that didn't hit the most for me in terms of visual presentation, it was really cool. But this is like arguing 10 out of 10 to a nine out of 10 was Viper. Yeah, Sagot. No, dude. Sagot is literally the best he's ever been. Sagot is actually the best he's ever looked. is incredible. I think Viper was a little off. Just a little. I I think Sagot arguably has the best depiction he's ever had in a Street Fighter game. The wonderful thing about Street Fighter trailers, we always do this, is that they don't break apart when you slow them down. They actually get better. They actually get better. Oh yeah, the the green stuff. Much better. Much better, bro. Holy mother of God. Holy mother of God. How does it actually get better? Viper was good. I think Viper was fun, but I think visually she wasn't as good as the other two or the other three. Now, is that a physical counter? Holy mother of God, man. She's definitely making this game look crazy. What the hell, man? You got effectively the most grounded, rooted, Street Fightery ass Street Fighter character with Alex and now you got the most insane space [ __ ] She's going to be a nightmare, dude. The fact that they're depicting her outoning the premium zoner of the game. She's going to be a nightmare. What the hell is that? Does she have some She has some wild ass install. Dude, where are you going? What is this? Oh, she's on a pole. She's on a space pole. Bro, these animations are insane. These animations are insane. How they all still hold up and every frame, even with green [ __ ] What is happening? Wow. Dude, she literally has a goddamn hype beam that you can combo after. This is so effed. This is so effed. Jesus, dude. Somebody said to check out the Japanese trailer. Is there anything different? It's the same. Bro, why does she have this voice? And if if you don't know who this character is, you're not a real weeb. You're a fake ass weeb. Why does she have this voice? Why does she sound like Wu? Like she sounds she sounds like an old lady in a younger body. Oh my god. I actually think I like the Japanese voice a lot too because she sounds old. It's an anime archetype actually. No, I just discovered it. This is not an an No, I just discovered this. Okay. Jesus. They did they literally do the jaws shut like she was a horrible monster. They do what? What's it called? The dolly zoom. Like she's some terrifying creature. She's uncanny. Yeah. Yeah. That's the intention of that shot. It's meant to be extremely uncomfortable, right? I you this psychotic space [ __ ] is about to ruin this game. Zap, zap, zap, zap, zap. Hello there, Terran. Ingred here to talk to you directly about how wonderful I'm going to be when I join Street Fighter 6 roster on May 28th. We're already in the sixth installment. Feels like just a few seconds ago when I graced you with my presence, albeit not the mainline series. How do you tear and say it? It's been a long time coming. and some obsession with the numbers 67. You all started saying, "Chat, you're making a fool of yourself. You're making a fool of yourself in front of the demigod space alien crazy character." Uh, Terran civilization has a long, long road ahead of it. I mean, she should say she's here to take over Tik Tok. Yeah, that's a good call. I, Ingred, the extradimensional woman of mystery, first appeared in Capcom Fighting A. We don't need to talk about this. Uh, and then tore another fabric of reality to Street Fighter Alpha 3. All right. An asset dump. Back then, you weren't using any of these leverless control. Damn, I like her already. She should have called them weirdass leverless controllers. I've been seeing in your dimension, but it makes me giddy to see more ways to play. Oh man, come on. After all these years, I sensed a worrying singularity. So, I decided to see where it led. And poof, I'm in Street Fighter 6. Oh, ho ho ho ho. Now, I know I love the way this is written, by the way. Now, I know you're busy with your 9 to5 fives or your homework or running little errands, but if you're curious about my cosmic powers manifest, I'll indulge you. Meet me in world tour. No, you're asking too much. I I've I've been traumatized. Okay. Where you and I can increase our bond. Preferably not. I just I'm a little concerned after what's happened over the past month or so. We're good though. It'll be fun just going into training mode. Don't worry, I'm going to be easy on you, Terrans. I use the full extent of my powers. You won't exist to read this blog on something called Steam. Damn, somebody at Capcom USA had a lot of fun with this [ __ ] Someone at Capcom USA had a lot of fun with this [ __ ] Let's start with the sunshot where I shoot a dazzling ball of light in front of me that briefly stops before launching away like your hopes and dreams. I like her. Depending on the button you press, how long you hold it, I can charge at speed and angle. The overdrive, what does that even mean? version of Sunshot adds more hits and more force. She's fourth wall breaking. I just realized that she's actually fourth wall breaking in Street Fighter 6. Huh. She's almost like like Street Fighter Deadpool. Yeah, cool. I like it. You just noticed. I just made this observation way faster than any of you did. Okay. The best thing about OD sunshots is that you can fire them with regular shots on lingering to create a stunning display of lights across the screen. That's your cue to ooh and ah. If a ball of light seems fleeting at you, then behold sun flare, where you shoot a beam of light towards. Before I explain, I want you to let you in a little power mine called Sun Crests. Oh my god. I infuse myself with the power of the sun and can have up to four of them at the same time or at a time. Use the light version of sunflare to see me do a cute cosmic girl pose and one to store and to store one sun crest. Hold the power down to store them faster. Dude, she's a chores character. Sunrests increase the number of hits, range, and follow-up potential for heavy and OD versions of Sunflare. Up to two Sunrests are used at once. What in the hell? Little like Jury. Yeah. Um, in your dimension, the sun comes from above. So, I have an ability called solar burst where I shoot a beam of light across or downward while in the air like a sunflare. The light version in the air and the source of sunrest. And this is turning into mush in my head. Bro, you're funny. Terren, making a big deal out of sun appearing every day. So, I named this next move Sunrise. A spinning attack akin to my past move set. The light version is a great anti-air. Uh, the medium version useful for combos that can be cancelceled from light attacks. How much money do we have that she's going to have a completely invulnerable wake uppercut? How much are we going to assume that she's just going to get an invincible DP of some kind? Or is she going to be like JP where JP has to use a big old meter? Uh, the heavy version requires a bit of finesse, but if it connects, you can follow up the moves like solar burst. The OD version is safe on block and the third attack of the move can cancel into a super art. You'll have trouble landing a hit on my glorious form with Sunvil Veil, a counterattack where I nullify an attack and drop your tush back where it belongs, away from me. While it can absorb projectiles, it won't stop super arts or any attack that hits multiple times. The OD version comes out much quicker and is a great option after getting knocked down. In case you're wondering, I'm letting you knock me down. Funny. One last special. Dude, there are so many. Uh, the dramatic vanishing sun. I can teleport with three options to really keep you guessing. So, can you do it any direction? Press forward teleports me forward with a kick and is safe on block. Pressing down teleports me above you where I unleash a downward attack. It's not really that fast coming out. But the flip side is plus on block. What? Pressing back teleports me away so I can observe. She doesn't need like anks or anything to teleport to them. She can just go to it. Huh. Yeah. So, she technically has like neutral skips. Huh. Onto my super art level one. Shining sun is where I set a series of magical kicks. It's invincible on startup. Of course, as many level ones are. Best part uh is I'll expend one sun crest to power up the attack, but I have multiple stacked up button down. So, it seems like yeah, if she's talking about this one being invincible, which is obvious that this might be the one thing. It might be the one thing means more damage if you end at the other side of the screen. And it's a screen carry super. Okay. Order of the sun. Uh the hammer of dawn into the sky depending on the button pressed. A shower of solar power rains. The sun crest stopped. Holding down the button will result in increased amount of shooting stars. After firing this move, the stage is set. The audience is seated. It's time to see how well you dance. See if you can block all my hits. Wow, she looks like a demon. My outfit too is inspired by first appearance. Complete stylish purple school gore uniform. Let me get the script out really fast and read it out loud. Owners. Oh, about to verbatim this. Um, Bionara. Well, okay. You know, that definitely wasn't the most exciting character of the entire season, but for me personally, she's even surpassed like Sea Viper. And Sea Viper was pretty neat. She was kind of cool. I knew I wouldn't be like super jing with her, but I think I'm more curious about how this chick plays than anything. Alt outfit three. No, no, that is something you made up and then I just made it show up here. All four characters from the past will have their outfit threes out at the same time. You guys want outfits so bad. Holy [ __ ] You guys want skins so bad. I was thinking it was going to talk about her outfit three. [ __ ] you guys want skins so bad. It's crazy. It's insane, dude. Heat.
