Maximilian Dood dives into Invincible vs. Conquest hype, breaking down character feels, combat systems, and the beta’s evolving balance with eye-popping visuals and hype for Spawn and Omniman.

Summary

Maximilian Dood is back with a hands-on reaction to the Invincible vs. Conquest reveal and the wider beta window. He praises how the game has evolved visually, noting that Invincible’s roster and stage design look more polished than ever, with references to the “Matrix-like” stage and the blood-splatter one-liners that sell the intensity. Maximilian highlights control nuances like boost dash combos, air launchers, and the way big enders (level threes) deliver massive damage, comparing the system to MVCI’s dash-heavy feel while noting the game’s gauge-management and assist rotation open up new optimization paths. He experiments with different character picks, favoring Omniman and Monster Girl as assist options, while predicting a meta built around long assist loops, resource management, and clever use of EX moves. The host also touches on design choices such as in-game representations of Invincible characters surpassing some comic/show adaptations in certain angles, and speculates about future DLC like Spawn, Thrag, and Lincoln-based characters. Throughout, Maximilian references playstyle goals, battle-scarred fatigue from beta exposure, and a growing optimism for a robust competitive scene once Conquest joins the roster. He closes with excitement for more hands-on sessions and a possible future match showcase with the Invincible crew.

Key Takeaways

  • Boost dash cancel sequences unlock repeated heavy attacks that resemble MVCI, but require managing a dedicated boost gauge instead of meter alone.
  • Level threes deal exceptionally large damage in beta builds, with even basic combos leading to dramatic finisher damage.
  • Assist rotations can loop back into themselves, allowing multiple reuses of Assist One and Assist Two within a single extended combo.
  • Air launchers and downward stomps function as Dragon Ball–style tools that build combo gauge while enabling new setup options and higher punish potential when used creatively.

Who Is This For?

Essential viewing for fighting-game fans curious about Invincible vs. Conquest’s balance and mechanics, especially players who want to understand how assist rotations, level-3 damage, and boost gauge systems impact high-level play.

Let's go. Invincible got its last character that has been added to the game. There's been like three big Invincible trailers over the last few days. How many characters are going to be in the beta? How many characters are we going to get the ability to play? Which is not that far away, man. It's like two weeks away. Finally, I'm free. I've arrived. As long as he does the blood over, there is no greater pleasure than feeling the warmth of my fist drenched in your blood. Go be lonely somewhere else. Waking me up. Nothing to do now. Damn. Look at this game now, dude. Holy [ __ ] Yeah. Wow. I need a pause on that [ __ ] Cool ass looking character. It hits. Like how he has all these like messed up teeth. This is a good looking stage. Damn, this stage looks like some [ __ ] out of the Matrix. Now we're getting Wow. Okay. Glory awaits us both in. I'm ready to play more of this game, dude. As I am. I'm ready. Very good. Take it to your grave, boy. Ah, that's a boost dash combo. Wow. Holy crap. That looks amazing. Wa. I'm going to enjoy this. Oh, Mark has a different costume. He has like his new costume. Conquest. I don't even get a real name. only of her purpose. Who the hell is She-Hulk? What? I've seen videos of this guy. This guy like dies or comes back or some [ __ ] Raging pissed off. I've seen this dude on the right. She's a season 4 character. Does she have like a big ass battle axe? She might be mad cool. She has a staff. Okay, they have Abraham Lincoln. Literally is Lincoln. Like literally resurrected DNA. A clone of Abe Lincoln. and then fall 2026 and winter. So, they got two more characters this year. Who else from the show would people really want until you get a completely non-invincible fanboy like myself bitching to the moon about Spawn? It's pretty much Thrag, right? I know. I know that. I know who that is. At some point, I'm going to be bitching and all the Invincible fans are going to get angry at me because Max wants Spawn. Granted, Spawn was in the Invincible comics. I want to go back and look at it, dude. This this screenshot, check this [ __ ] out. Holy [ __ ] Damn, dude. This game has gone through a a massive overhaul. God damn. This is a cool looking shot. This guy looks better than he ever has. Like, I mean, I don't know what to say. Can I have a outsiders perspective? Really hot take. I kind of think that like the in-game representations of Invincible Versus at times now look even better than a lot of the comic or the show. Like sometimes the show can look really good or other times the show can look like really like lowbudget. But they have a whole bunch of comparison shots and I see the comparison shots. I'm like the art style is fine in the comic. It's a little like straightforward. But the way the game has progressed, it's like some of the representation of these characters now. No kidding. Like they look the coolest in this game. I'm not saying the comics are bad. I'm not saying they're bad. I'm saying that like I'm vibing with the art style of this game a lot now when before it was clearly lacking. What does he do? But die. I like this stomp, dude. I hope it's a normal. Having fun. I'm thinking this guy's going to be on the team, right? No matter what, I'm playing Omniman. The unfortunate thing is that I've been playing Mark since like godamn the very beginning. So, I'm just familiar of how he works. But I'm thinking Omniman. I really, really, really liked Alan the Alien. It's going to be Omniman, Alan the Alien. And I'll be real, when I when I was fighting John and he was using monster girl against me, that monster girl assist is a war crime. It's an assist that appears from the top of the screen and falls and causes a ground bounce. It is crazy. I'm like, "Okay, monster girl is definitely going to be like my assist character. I'm just going to learn how to play her because that it's too good. It's way too good." This is cute. I like that it's a uh I I saw like Justin versus Gurr I think at the end of the EVO award thing. You know what Gurr was doing? He was using the heroic strike which is the [ __ ] that turns an alpha counter defensive state into offense where you have to force them into a tag a tag mix, right? So whenever I was watching him, he was able to flip the match on its head because he was using the alpha counter all over the place and there are specific ways to stop it because it loses to uh anti-armour moves like EX's and supers that Justin just wasn't ready for. And barely anybody in the betas, barely anybody that has played the game was doing that [ __ ] Like I was having to show it off to people that it's like you start getting scared that you can even touch me, dude. It's like, yeah, this is where the game goes. Like it it really is a teeter totter effect, dude. All it all fear and so will you. This stage is great. So he has like an anti- projectile. One of us is going to die today. NOW we're getting some. Damn. This a cool ass super, dude. Holy [ __ ] He literally has like a fire brand super. You're almost as crazy as I am. Very good. This is just the sumo slam. Take it to your grave. Look at this [ __ ] Yeah, these are where the big damage of the game is, chat. These are boost dash cancels. I like it that they make it repeated headbutts here, but you do heavy dash heavy dash heavy. So, you know, like an MVCI when you can do heavy dash heavy dash heavy. It's very famili It's very similar, but in this one that uses your boost gauge. So, you're going to get a whole bunch of heavy attacks all over the place. Also, some [ __ ] that I noticed. Some [ __ ] that I noticed in air combos when I was last playing the devs. You see how like there's launchers, right? Like literally smash attacks like this, right? The game has like Dragon Ballesque two H's which lead to a smash attack and when you're in the air, you have like a stomp down, right? There's like you can do downheavy in the air. So, I noticed something. The smash attack and the slam down are really good for getting them up there and getting them down there. But you know what they do? They build a huge chunk of the combo gauge. So if you find a different way to combo outside of the smash attacks to get them into the air or to get them back down to the ground without doing the easy thing, you just get bigger combos. You get more rewards. He is out here. So, if you're able to utilize assists or anything like that, also when I was messing around with this stuff, dude, you can literally do a full assist loop cycle because using your assist in combos now brings down the combo gauge a little bit. The funny thing is it doesn't lock out the character from being used again. So, even if you start a combo, use an assist, do like a big move, do a big EX move, continue the combo up, and bring in another like assist, you can actually go back to the first assist. I had a combo that was so long because I found a character that had a really, really, really long um EX move, and I was like, can I like push this? So, I used all my resources on it, and I literally cycled back my assist characters in the combo like a fifth time, and I was like, holy [ __ ] So, it was assist one, assist two, back to assist one, back to assist two, back to assist one. There's like a 3second timer so that they come back. But if I get this, if I push this [ __ ] further and further and further, there was enough time for them to recharge in the background to get them to come back. And I was like, wow, there's going to be some nutty ass optimization in this game. Now, the fact that you can do that, like it was, it took me a while in training mode to find out what even to do. But eventually, you'll run out of resources, right? eventually you're going to not have enough resources cuz the EX moves are what take forever. It was just very interesting. There's basic combos where you use assist normally and there's an entire process of like actually there's an assist rotation that you can you can use a few times. I'm like that's a lot different. That's way different than other fighting games. But here's the thing. I don't know what the hell's going on. Dude, level threes do so much damage. They did a lot of damage in the beta. I swear to God in that last build I was playing with John, I'm like, there's no reason this should kill. There's zero reason THIS COULD SH WHY DID IT KILL ME? WHAT THE [ __ ] LIKE EVEN like a very basic combo into level three, if you use your level three, they do a [ __ ] ton of damage, dude. I'm like, whoa. Holy [ __ ] man. Curious if that's going to stay, boy. There's definitely some goofy fun stuff It's super easy to do level three into any move. Oh yeah, super easy. I'm going to enjoy this. Anyway, I'm getting kind of excited. I want to play more. I'll check to see if there's any any potential in the near future with the invincible versus crew chat where we can get more matches if if there is a playable build that has Conquest in some way in a similar way that we showed off Allen the alien. I'd love that. Yeah, I'm very curious to see how Conquest plays. I'll I'll learn like a couple more characters as well other than the ones that I was uh using kind of consistently. That's probably the best character they could have added. In fact, most people thought that this character was going to be DLC. Universa and the Immortal are out when the game is out in spring. So, I'm guessing I'm guessing they're just summer. Oh, [ __ ] hate my eyes, bro. I read this. I read this. I read that. I read this. I read that. I read this. I read this. I looked over here. I looked over there. I looked I read this. I looked over here. I did all this. I looked over there. I did. And then it's right [ __ ] here. It's the exact same [ __ ] when your wife go says, "Hey, can you grab the milk out of the fridge? Sure." And then you're just looking in the fridge and you're like, "THERE'S NO MILK." And then she rolls up and just grabs the milk right out of the fridge right in front of you. AND YOU'RE LIKE, AH,
