I'd argue that Summer Games Fest um this year might be one of the biggest, most important shows ever, at least for me personally. Um it's a big one, man. It's potentially a very big one. Not only the chance of like Final Fantasy 7 stuff, but we might get Vega and Street Fighter 6. There could be new Virtual Fighter things. Um there's a lot like there's a lot of there's a lot of [ __ ] You say that every year. No, shut the hell up. There's hope every year. This year is like [ __ ] dude. That those dudes cannot stop talking. I tell you what, man. VF is possible since RG's game is getting shown tomorrow. What? Really? Uh, you mean um Midnight Club Millennium Edition? The heck was it called? That was the first thing that came to my mind for some reason. Um, Yamaguchi's yapping about FF7 like he's me. Yeah, dude. I think all the leaks for Final Fantasy 7 part 3 are real. Every single one, including the AI leaks. Yep. Including all the AI leaks. Every single one is real. Just Just have hope, man. I think all the other [ __ ] is [ __ ] but I think all of the AI leaks that people are leaking, there's an entire like docket that somebody posted on Reset Era about the game playing in like, you know, some weird ass uh like classic mode is I think it was completely written by AI. I I legit do. And it's real. It's actually real. That's what's crazy. Um, anyway, Invincible Versus got updated um way sooner than I think the majority of us thought. So, yeah. Um, I uh I am pretty excited about that. I mean, they nerfed Conquest, but I also did not necessarily use his infinite very much. I didn't really do much of it, but at the same time, it's like, yeah, that's better for the health of the game. There's some good fixes in there. There's the game's got some goofy stuff. I'm not looking at the Rex Explode costume trailer. Christ. What I will probably do is put Cecil on the team because I need a I need a good assist, bro. Before that the the game is like there's two there's two or three really good assists in the game right now. And it's being it's pretty clear from how the game is being played at like a mid to high level. Bro, you really got to let your assist do some work. And if you don't have a Cecil, a robot, or an Eve assist, the game is significantly harder. It's significantly harder. Also, the um the combo theory of the game has been completely like cracked open in a weird way. Did I Let me see if I liked a couple of them. Um like how damage works has been completely like thrown us under. Like heavy attacks don't do what you think they do. Um, let me see if I actually have the a couple of liked combos. Hold on a second. Uh, damn it. Hold on a second. Let me see if I can find out. Uh, yeah, dude. Check this out. One bar, three boost. So, we were playing Titan, and it was kind of hard to get damage with him, right? He's he looks like a big damage heavy-hitting character, but uh some people like like ostentatious Oh, over here. Figured out some [ __ ] Let me get this in a big screen. Check this out. So, it starts with an LMH, right? The way the damage scaling works in the game is interesting. It starts with LMH. Those are jabs. Yeah, that's bro. Look at the damage before the super has even gone off. So, we got to start thinking about combo combo. the combo game in this game differently. Everyone's doing MH H special. H special. No, that [ __ ] sucks. That [ __ ] sucks. Yeah. You know what? Light, medium, heavy doesn't jail on block. For some reason, it doesn't. That was a specific choice from the devs. But you know what does? Stand light, down light, stand light on most characters. That jails. And you know what also does? stand light into we talked about this earlier like what you stand light as as close-range pressure into down light is so much better than just doing LMH and just like autopiloting. We talked about this before when it came to beating um heroic strike and you you use that to beat heroic strike. Jail means yeah force block with without with a gapless string, right? cuz people right now there's a bad glitch in the game where people are mashing on assist while they're being hit or they're being um or they're blocking and any of those strings if they're not true give you the assist which is a little funky. That's a that's a little funky um which probably needs to get ironed out but you know what does work? Stand light down light or stand light down light into special into some specials. So, and then you call assist after that. Then people are mashing and [ __ ] like that. The assist completely covers and if they're mashing, they hit the assist. There are ways around this [ __ ] dude. Like most character stand lights can be pretty good, too. Anyway, look at this damage. It's just that you can't again the combo structure of the game is also mad weird. Um, so the block sync the the block string structure is not going to play out like a goddamn dragon ball or or an arc system works game. They're just not. Do I call an assist uh after LMH or after special? It dude. It's up in the air. It depends per character. Like look at this. I think the the ideal thing we need to be looking at when it comes to combo damage in this game is special into normal into special into normal. And then and then if you do that and you switch which specials or you switch which normals, especially the normals, they don't scale, bro. Like they're just really high damage. Yeah, there's no true block screens on munch moves. Got little to no push block. This sounds like NBCI, right? Anybody remember having to deal with Zero with his completely invulnerable super um that led to full combo in NBCI and that full combo couldn't even be broken. I mean, it's not that weird. It's really not that weird. And that that stuff will probably get polished up a little bit. So, is the game loose having fun learning? I'm having a [ __ ] blast. You know why I'm having a blast learning this? There's some broken [ __ ] don't get me wrong, but I'm having a fun time with this game because it doesn't play like other games. Like I I I feel like in my personal take, a lot of fighting games that have come out over the past like I'd say argue five years have all kind of played with similar functionality where things just work the way you think they do and then when you do it you're like okay yeah that kind of does that in all the other games, you know? So to me it's it's kind of fun to have a game where it's like I don't know why that [ __ ] happened. I wonder why that [ __ ] happened. Like I'm not gonna say it's going to lead to the most balanced game or situation. All I'm saying is that because of it, I I'm actually it's actually tickling my brain in a way that a lot of other fighting games have not in the past like, you know, like few years where most of them just are like they all play like each other. They all like functionally play like the way fighting game players have are familiar with fighting games. You know what I mean? But I think some [ __ ] is [ __ ] Well, we should talk about that. the stuff that I like and the things that I think are [ __ ] Um, I think one of the most [ __ ] parts of the game is that there's too many bursts. Uh, bursts need to be I think bursts should lose to supers like flat out across the board. Um, and I think that uh sudden death sucks. Sudden death became a comeback mechanic for for people that are behind, which sucks. I don't I don't like it. I really don't like it. Um, it was a cool idea in concept when you start actually playing people that really want to win. Yeah. What's a jail in this, by the way? Jail means just like you're stuck in something, right? Like you are you are stuck. Check this out, chat. So, that was the level one. Uh, check out the level three. Look at this, dude. We are looking at damage the wrong way. Every everyone is comboing wrong in this game right now. Like, literally everybody. Uh, and here's the thing. I understand why a lot of people would not like the way this game plays because everything is so weird. I get it. However, a a lot of the community that exists now are people that have grown up and started playing the fighting games that we're all playing over the past like fiveish years, like right around precoid. So because of that, if things don't line up and functionally work in a way that makes sense to them, there's a reason why they're good at a lot of the modern games now because those games have a lot of similar functionality. Things work the way you think they do. So when you suddenly get a game that does not work the way you think they do, it it feels like broken and bad, you know, and it's like, well, there's it's like the exact same thing at the beginning when everybody was complaining about uh the the invincible uppercuts when they weren't invincible at all. They had startup. They all had startup. Almost all supers in this game also have startup. So having similar functionality is not a bad thing, right? Um it's not a bad thing if you want everything to play the same, right? for everything to have like similar frame data that makes sense, you know, frame data that just like lines up with the way Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 6 are. And that's what a lot of fighting games did after Street Fighter 5 and Street Fighter 6. The frame data just all makes logical sense. And it's like, huh, like that's that's weird. It's weird that there are things that just like either are plus two or plus three, you know, in in those situations. And it's the same thing for a lot of other 1v one strike throw games. And it's like, yeah, yeah, okay. All right. I And that's not the way things used to be, man. Like, every game was designed like very differently from one to the next. Um, it's okay if you like a certain game, but I'm just saying a lot of stuff in this does not just line up with the way previous things do. A lot of people were looking at this game as being like a frame data game, and I'm like, bro, it's a versus game. Like, frame data almost doesn't mean anything. Like, I don't I don't understand that. Like with games that have like crazy defensive capabilities, like frame data most of the time is not important. Uh in in in a team game situation, usually frame data means dick, dude. So anyway, uh so many people are used to games being like safe on block or, you know, I'm sorry, punishable or supers that are like you should be able to punish a super and it's like that stuff is not that's not unique. like that that was in old games. Like old games are kind of that way. So anyway, um all I got to say is that there's a reason why a lot of old heads sort of like this stuff because uh it plays like an older game. Like it literally functions like an older goddamn fighting game, which is which is fun. We don't know. I love it that it's a week, brother. It's been nearly a week and there's been several tournaments and it's been ups and downs of like, oh no, this is this is big balls or wow, this is actually really cool. uh where nobody knows how to play it yet. Where so many people are playing it way too defensive and it's just nobody's engaging like it's a Dragon Ball Fighters kind of situation where you're just double jumping around and using assists. Yeah, that's very prevalent right now. But then some other people are being more offensive and getting better rewards. So it's like, huh, they're winning more. So it's like, huh, this is kind of cool. It's kind of cool that we don't know exactly. I think the I think for me personally, the one thing of the game that needs to be sort of like twisted in a certain direction, we need to be getting more damage off of things. Straight up. I think matches are lasting too long. I started looking at my um I started looking at my previous matches and I was posting the matches from uh you know when we played last week and um dude like full sets with people were going 12 to 15 minutes where it's like I win they win final game they were going 12 to 15 minutes and I was like whoa holy crap. I think there just needs to be more ways for damage to be distributed, not to the front line, which is the main character, but the backline. Right now, it's really hard to hurt the backline. And it's so easy to tag. It's so easy to recover health. Like, there's no punishment for just bringing in a character, going full screen and bringing in a character. There's like no way to punish them. So, it's like, okay, all right, if that's going to happen, then we need to be able to [ __ ] up the people in the backline like it's a Marvel 3 situation or just something. The backline doesn't ever really get hurt. It's hard to happy birthday in this game. So that's what I feel. There needs to be like more opportunities to hurt people. Better snapback. No, the snapback is godlike. The snapback actually leads to crazy [ __ ] which which is good. But what I'm saying is that in previous in just versus games in general, like the assists, if you call bad assists and stuff, they usually hang out for a long time. And or this, they piece out really fast. Like I think if you're going to be using your back assists more, and I'm just going to throw it out there, the fix we put into NBCI, which is that a if you do super tag, if you do a big ass super and you tag after, the character would dip immediately. So we opened up the opportunity for more happy birthdays, the character would stay on screen for like two more seconds. So they would be like, they would do a pose or some [ __ ] after they did their super tag, which is super powerful. And if it didn't work, they would get happy booooed. It was like, "All right." So, that ended up making the game go faster in the long run. Like, MVCI, we took a damage down for a lot of things. We we fixed the scaling, but we made it easier to get damage across the board to hurt the backline. So, I think the back assists right now are powerful. They're so good. If you don't have Cecil, if you don't have Eve, and you don't have Robot, especially Cecil and Robot, my god, the game is so much harder. It's like, it's insanely hard. Those characters are so good as assists. So yeah, and it's clear that Mark is like the best character in the game, but he's only the best character in the game around his shell. And right now, the game is working around shells. It's very much Marvel vs. Capcom 2 like where it's like you're not m you're not making a team of three functional characters. You are making a team of a point character and assists that will keep them alive. And that's called a shell. Uh and that that's very good right now. At least in the first week or so, it's very good because it's hard to do anything about the backline. Anyway, look how crazy this is with just twisting the combo theory a little bit. This is uh this is Titan starting with a jab. Watch this [ __ ] [ __ ] Let's go ahead and wrap this up. Okay, so the level three is not scaling. And I get it. It costs three bar, but that is really good. Boost is boost is working, dude. Um, so what he's doing is he's not following the traditional combo paths that everybody else is. He's not starting with a heavy. He's starting with a light, right? He's starting with light, medium, heavy at the start, LMH, and to special. And I think this will work for most characters. So, we got to think about it. LMH special. At that point, the damage scaling is is not working entirely. So, one special. Okay. Into jab into rock special. Another special. Actually, I think this was jab. Jab medium. So, light medium dash cancel. We're we're we're resetting the situation. So, then he needs to do something different. He does jab, special, dash cancel, jab, special, dash cancel into this is interesting that jab special is working. Jab special is doing more than heavy special into just a traditional ender. And it's it is walloping, dude. Look at that. Holy crap. Isn't that the conquest situation just not as bad? Well, the conquest situation before the nerf was that he was doing just one move and mashing it, right? It sucked. He wasn't having to engage combo theory at all. He was just pressing like one attack. So, it was kind of shitty. He was just slapshopping the [ __ ] out of you in the air over and over again, which we got to go over the patch notes. It was just charge jam into charge. Charge did not have any recovery. So, it it was easy just to do it over and over again. Omniman has something that's pretty good, too. Um, that is not the exact same. So anyway, I think what's happening is that we are looking at the combo theory of the game like other games where you just want to fill the combo gauge with heavy attacks all over the place. And it looks like that's not the case. Like you don't it doesn't seem like you you want to do that to get a [ __ ] ton of damage because jabs in this situation are doing even more damage than heavies. Yeah, the TNS tournament was actually pretty nuts. It took one thing I I will say personally, all the tournaments I've watched, I watched the Paragon tournament and I watched the TNS tournament, they're taking too long. They are taking there it's just taking way too long because everyone it it's there's not that many opportunities to do damage. Like how do you do damage in the game? Well, you're most likely not using specials. The only the only special that's opening up people in this game is Mark. It's going to be invincible punch or overhead. like that's that's good, but everybody else like their specials aren't opening you up because they're either unsafe or you need assist to cover and everybody else is uh doing back assist. So, everyone's waiting for their assist to recover after the second se second the 7-second timer. So, they're disengaging and they're waiting for the assist to recover so it covers them because it's a competitive game, right? Um and outside of that, how do they open each other up? The only way to open somebody up is either through throw, which is impossible if people are jumping around all over the place, or through a normal. And you all know that like landing landing mixups against people is going to be really hard with how much mobility you kind of have in this game. You're not you're not going to be landing like an instant overhead normal most of the time. Some people just get like opened up by like a random dash in heavy or some [ __ ] like that. But there's so many there's only so many opportunities to get to the damage. And usually everyone was waiting for crazy ass assist and then you know move in and do some crazy [ __ ] And only some characters can actually move like that. Yeah. I think it's I think it's like once again I think it's like really close to being like really good. It's just there are there are few things that I think anybody that's like playing right now it would it would help the health of the game. Uh hold on a second. I have another one. Um what is this? Duplicate stuff. Ooh. Okay. So now we have Marvel 3 raw tag situations. Sick. long knockdown. Yeah, look at this weird ass Titan combo stuff cuz right now everybody even in tournament is doing the most safe [ __ ] right? Every single person that's playing this game is just doing light, medium, heavy [ __ ] And right now the combo gods are are figuring [ __ ] out, dude. like stuff is stuff is changing every single day which is actually very neat. Um and also some combos build a [ __ ] ton of they build a [ __ ] ton of meter. So you can actually get three bars from doing one combo which is like holy [ __ ] You can do Kate raw tag in the Titan raw tag in a monster girl raw tag in the duplicate. That's kind of crazy. That's kind of crazy. You're trying to record it right now. That's kind of crazy. Hold on a second. Yeah, check this one out. Look at this [ __ ] I need I need to practice something like this. Doodle posted this. I've got you. Okay. Combo gauge down. Can he get Mark after? Yep. Yes. Cool. See, here's the thing. This combo probably is not the best thing that you can do. Um, damage wise, it's not. However, it's building a [ __ ] ton of meter. Like, look at the start. Let's see how much meter it builds. So, he starts with three bars. Already built a bar. Almost built a second bar. Built a second bar. Was about to build a third a third bar. Almost going to build a fourth bar. Eventually he runs out. Yeah. is what I'm cuz this actually kills. Wow, dude. It's a tod. So, similar to how Titan was working ahead of time, there's no tag breaker on that. The assists are on cooldowns. Yeah, they're on like uh the the the back assist is on a larger cool down. The regular assists are like 3 seconds. So, they they come back quick. Um, however, a lot of characters in the game now, uh, you look at like, oh, you can kill me off of one hit. All right, this does not going to happen all the time. Like, this literally only happens with a healthy team, a team with three characters and your full boost gauge. And if the other team has breaker, you're [ __ ] It doesn't work. So, this is super situational. Like, how many times do characters have breaker in this game, chat? ALL THE [ __ ] TIME. PEOPLE are breaking [ __ ] constantly, dude. So, it's neat, but the the exact moment and situation for you to be able to do this is actually really uncommon. It's [ __ ] awesome, but there's so many like pieces of the puzzle that have to line into place for it to eventually happen. Here's the cool thing. It can happen. Yeah, you would just do the regular combo breaker. You would just be like this and this was also happening for people at high level. Rip was saying the same thing where uh he was like and it was in my head too where it's like dude if conquest gets you in the infinite just break just take all the shitty damage from the other characters and save your assist breaker I'm sorry your actual yeah your assist breaker for when conquest gets you in the infinite and then [ __ ] break it and then reset to neutral. Don't get hit again. So, it's like, okay, yeah, that makes a lot of sense because there's so many people just break immediately. They're not thinking about it right now. And that's the that's the part of the game that is like I wish people had to consider their breakers a little bit more, you know, and we we mess around with it where you can beat them with supers, but even if you respond with super, they can still lose. Like, it still beats out the super. So, it's like, eh, I kind of wish like if you had to think about your breaker and I and I knew that you're just mash breaking and then I bring out my super and it beats the breaker. Imagine that. You get a happy birthday, you know, and if happy birthdays were good, I hard called you on that [ __ ] Now I'm tagging in to actually kill two characters, which is a risk. So, I I think that there should be a little bit of that kind of stuff, you know, like more opportunity to kill the backline, more thought behind like when you break stuff because breakers are just like, "Wow, they're [ __ ] crazy, dude." And they happen. I I think it's fine if the breakers happen all the time, but I think there should be something. I think there should be like an a way if you know that they're going to do it to beat them out in some way. Anyway, let me bait the breaker. The way to bait the breaker is like the best way ever. And the bait the breaker by smashing through it with an assist. Dude, and what happens if you smash through a breaker? I'm sorry. If you smash through a breaker with a super, dude, the breaker is a character. You're hitting two characters at the same time. I love that [ __ ] There's actually riskreward associated with doing your tag breakers now. You can't just like mash them at all times. If I just did jab jab super because you're like, I don't want to get hit, bro. I just happy boo booed your ass. Now I got to be really thinking about when the breaker comes out. I think that's kind of [ __ ] neat. Anyway, unfortunately with fighting games chat, uh all these things sound really cool, but actually making them work is not uh easy. Usually uh making changes like this takes like a lot of time, trial and error. Is that a new change? No, that doesn't exist yet. That's all I'm saying. That's my recommendation of like how cool would it be if supers beat Breaker just like as a rule across the board. You know what I mean? Um anyway, how do you feel about the 2xK version uh being the break like an actual breaker meter specifically for it? There's a lot of breakers happening. There's just a lot. I just want there to be risk, you know, like and a lot of them you can bait the breaker in and in in 2x KO as well, just like you pretty much bait breakers in 2x the same way you do it in Guilty Gear, like for the most part. Um, and I think it's fine if they work that way in those games, but I in my head it does feel like Breakers Like happened like 10 times a game, dude. Um, in my head I was like, dude, I I was theorizing. I'm like, can you possibly snap out two characters at a time and does it do some Marvel 2 [ __ ] where you juggle them like crazy? Can you do that? And I don't think you can. I don't think that stuff actually works because it's so hard to happy birthday in this game. They the that backline character pieces the [ __ ] out. Like they leave real quick. Some Marvel 3 [ __ ] where they just leave the screen. Yeah. Like I don't I don't know. So I think it needs to be ironed out a bit. I think there just needs to be more opportunities to do damage to the backline. You got to think about this [ __ ] more. You know, I'm okay with the combo damage being relatively low. It that doesn't need to change. I think people are figuring that stuff out currently. You met an Allen earlier who had an infinite juggle.
