Hosts introduce the new beta update and why they jumped into it, touching on vanilla play and beta scope while noting server/patch context.
Maximilian Dood dives into the Lethal Company update in a 5-hour livestream, sharing hot takes on the beta, new enemies, and high-stakes salvage runs with friends.
Summary
Maximilian Dood kicks off a Yo Video Games weekend by checking out the biggest Lethal Company update in a while. He chats with John and the gang about beta status, Invincible cross-play limits, and what’s changed in March, including new enemies and map tweaks. Throughout the night, Max and crew discuss balance, strategies, and the thrill of discovery as they stumble on mechanics like heroic strike interactions and back-and-forth tag play. They compare notes on patch feedback, discuss in-game systems (boost gauge recovery, wall bounces, and ground bounces), and debate how the metagame might evolve once players spend weeks with the update. The tone swings from goofy banter to sharp, competitive analysis as they experiment with tools (walkie-talkies, zappers, teleporters) and with room-clear tactics against behemoths like coil heads, thumpers, and panthers. Between rounds, Max reflects on the joy of group play, the chaos of unpredictable random drops, and the balance the devs might tune before a full launch. By the end of the night, they’re laughing at near-misses, sharing vivid in-game clips, and looking ahead to BSD-style long-form takes and future modded content. It’s messy, loud, and genuinely enthusiastic—classic Maximilian Dood, now with even more Lethal Company lore to mine. If you’re into chaotic co-ops, weapon swaps, and the meta-game of fighting-for-loot, this stream is a goldmine of patch impressions and playground tactics.
Key Takeaways
- Heroic strike, when blocked, can bait a counter and open a punish sequence using an assist, making some overheads punishable in practice.
- Boost gauge and recovery pace are live topics; players feel it recovers too quickly in some builds, enabling frequent breakers and rapid character swaps.
- March planet has been reworked with new enemies and increased scrap, altering risk/reward in travel and loot runs.
- Bees, coil heads, and thumpers create a risk ladder where riskier exits can net big drops but heighten death risk in the same room.
Who Is This For?
Essential viewing for fans of cooperative roguelikes and patch-watchers who want a pulse on Lethal Company's evolving systems, balance, and depth of early-game vs. high-skill play.

Transcending history and the world. A tale of dudes and souls eternally retold. We don't need to shine to see how far we've come on our journey. You have to go searching for heart deep in the night. I pray in my heart for that special light to shower me with love to shower me with power. Got to get the edge of car to car. Shine. Yo, what's up, dudes? All right, chat. Uh, yeah, we're doing it. I figured if we're having our Yo Video Games weekend, then um you know, we should probably be checking out this Lethal Company update, which is one of the first biggest uh updates to the game in quite a while.
Um pretty substantial one from what I understand, too. I've seen some funny clips and [ __ ] where it's like, "All right, C24. Uh thanks for the seven gift subs, man. Thank you." Um so yeah, seemed like a good opportunity for us to do it. Uh afterwards if we'll just see how it goes. No invincible tonight. John, is it Hey, John. Straight up. If uh if we could play uh if we have the okay to play some Invincible tonight. Yes, cuz it went down. But if we have the okay to play some of it, then uh let me know.
Steve was asking. I'm going to tell you, Steve was like asking. He was like, "Can we play Invincible?" And I'm like, "It's hard, man. there's like no local and all that stuff and we can't matchmake and yada yada yada, you know, we're doing vanilla lethal. Yeah, the the basic default. I'm like, we just couldn't play each other because that's just the way the beta is, you know. So, yeah, Steve definitely wanted to uh play. And I'm like, "Yeah, I would too, but if you know a guy, let me know, dude. I'm telling you, if you know a guy, just let me know.
Uh we can we could do that." that the beta test is like over though. So, it ended at what 5? Uh, it ended at 5. I don't think I think some people were still streaming like training mode and stuff like that. Back to the stage. Some pretty cool [ __ ] Some things were getting discovered was on Ner Josh's stream and he was finding some pretty interesting stuff where it's like this is pretty crazy, but there is like an there's a weird counter to it. Oh, okay. Um, fascinating. John, question for you. Do you know if push block has an allg guard of some kind?
Do we know? Does it have like a minor allg guard? Do we know? I'm just I'm just very curious. Did I not enjoy the Strive update? Um I I can't I I hate all fighting games. I hate Final Fantasy 7. I hate Invincible Versus. I hate Tokon. I hate Strive. I hate everything except Lethal Company. Lethal Company is the only game I like. That's it. every I hate everything. I can't stand I hate Bloodborne. I hate everything. I hate things that are fun. I'm here just to play Lethal Company. You ready? All right, cool. Uh John, do you know if Push Block has an old guard of some kind?
Uh and invincible. Do you have any idea? Do you have any idea? I'm curious. Because of some crazy [ __ ] Push block uh block. Push block has some all guard. I have to double check the specifics. Okay. If it has some, then that's cool because it it effectively is the counter to um uh overheads, right? Where you can hit an attack low and have an overhead happen at the same time. Yeah, that's the answer. And the answer is that you need to save push block for those moments where you're going to get schmicked to [ __ ] Yeah.
Okay, that's fine. That's completely fine. Um you ended 25ish on the invincible leaderboards. I only played about 60 to 65 matches, dude. Um, yeah. I wish I played more, but it was just like I when you get to the higher ranks, it would just take long. It would just take way too long to get matches. So, over the span of like two streams, I got like 60 to 70ish games. Um, and the the other matches were from the first beta. For some reason, it counted my matches from the first beta, but it didn't contribute towards my ranking at all.
Um, if I ended in top 25, that's cool. That's great. Uh the last time I was actually working towards ranking up, we made it to like fifth. Uh which was neat. That was that was fun. But at the same point, it's like I can't keep up with this dude. These dudes are grinding. These [ __ ] are Did you see how much Justin played that beta? Holy crap. It retained your wins from the play test. People would not accept when I got connected. Me, too. That's what happened to me for the majority of my games at the start, John.
Yeah, people just did not accept. It's I the first two matches it said I had a hundred wins from the previous beta and I was like uh that's not uh and people just kept declining and I was like uh crap. Yeah, Justin played a ton. A freaking [ __ ] ton. So he kept going back. So anyway, uh you need rest. I just could not keep up with it. I I could not I could not play that much, you know, consistently enough. That's just is the problem with being competitive chat. Uh, I know what it takes and it just takes a ridiculous amount of commitment and time and we just have like we have weekend video game streams and stuff like that and other things to cover and do.
So anyway, anyway, you had 85 wins at the beginning. Yeah, that was all from beta 1. Exactly. Exactly. But anyway, fun ass game. Like super fun. I ended up having the most fun in the high ranks when people were actually fighting and people were using um like mechanics against each other. Dude, just going to throw it out here. I'm just going to throw it out here. Um a lot of people are complaining cuz the game is different, right? That not a lot of stuff is punishable in Invincible Versus. Not a lot. Like most supers, that might change, but most things are not punishable.
You know what almost guarantees them to be punishable? like you you want that to be punishable if like you blocked a super or you blocked something and then you're like, "All right, I want I want to get my my punish here. I don't know if it's a five frame recovery or what. I want to get my punish." You know how you guarantee you get a punish nearly every time. Heroic strike. If you're blocking it and you're waiting for the recovery to finish, just heroic strike the end of it and bam, sets you up into combo.
You don't even do the tag off heroic strike. You just do assist. Bam. Keep going. You spend a little bit of meter to guarantee the fact that you're going to get something that will result in you landing an attack. People were not doing heroic strike, dude. No. And none. Barely. Barely. Uh, it's where the game actually really changes. Um, Justin was beating people's heroic strikes by supering them. Yes. So, there is ways to beat to bait heroic strike. I found a string that works. It's pretty much stand jab, down jab, stand jab. And in between any of those, if they heroic strike, it's screen stops and you recover with enough time to do ex and just go [ __ ] you and blast through their [ __ ] with either a super.
Heroic strike is the alpha counter. Yes. So yeah, I think it's kind of neat that heroic strike can technically give you a punish in situations where it's not punishable. It just costs one yellow bar, right? Costs one boost gauge. Um, yeah. Yeah, John. Uh, just going to throw it out there. Have you got I I've I've had some matches at high level where there was like 15 breakers in a game. Um, and it's because every single time we would use a breaker, we would find an opportunity to swap out after like as quickly as possible.
So, the same that my opponent doing to me as I was doing to them, I'm like I'm I'm curious if there's a thing for me that might need to get toned down. There's been some updates there too. Cool. You guys are already aware. Um, it feels like boost gauge recovers in the background maybe a little too quick at times or if there should be like a proration where it starts slow and then it gets fast. I don't know. But you're able to recover boost gauge so fast on your other characters that every time you would get into a combo, you would break and then somebody else would come in and you would try to get another character and as soon as possible break.
Yeah. It was like they did it to me and I was doing it to them and it was like damn bro we are there's a lot of breakers happening here and it's tough to get around them. So it's like we didn't have all the answers. Anyway, we heard that one as well. It's in our mind. It's a tricky balance. Yeah, I'd have figured I like the cool part is that chat like there there's a forum, there's a there's a uh there's a Discord. They're accepting all the feedback on what people have been talking about. All that kind of [ __ ] What were your general final thoughts on the beta?
I have like a few criticisms of like minor gameplay nitpicks, but they're they're nitpicks. I think the combo stuff like should change. I talked about it. I think the overall uh uh dang, I didn't realize I'll have to make a video on this at some point. Um combos like bouncing too much. It's just kind of uninteresting. It's cool that you can do it, but when it's like repeating the exact same action over and over and over again and it works on like every single character in the game for the most part, yeah, that should change.
Um, yeah, John says it's also on the radar. So, things doing multiple ground bounces, multiple wall bounces, like multiple stun states, like Allan just stun state, stun state, stun state. You know, it's like, okay. Um, I get it. And it's like maybe maybe you get one of those as a character and then when you use them all, the only way to get them back is to tag. You know, that would make sense if you get them. that would that envir that that requires you to be a little bit more creative with your combos or less creative and taking a risk and just tagging, you know, and I think that yeah, the tagging tagging will not be happening as much in High Level, but the neat thing is that the game is still interesting without the tagging happening all over the place, without the active tagging.
So, yeah, it's fascinating. You know what I mean? I think it is. Uh I think it's at a spot that is kind of interesting and kind of cool and it just needs a little bit of refinement and I'm not too worried about it because the build we're playing is already pretty old. So, welcome back to the uh let me check out Discord chat. I really enjoyed it. Like again, uh a couple of minor nitpicks, but I've seen the game evolve a lot for the past like couple years for the most part, and this is the most fun it's ever been.
And at this point, uh like it's so close. Like there's just a few little things that need to get tuned and dialed in where it's going to be like really good and then people will start finding the actual really busted [ __ ] you know, like the really busted [ __ ] when you get to sit with it for a very long time. No, we're doing default lethal. Yeah, we're not doing this with um we're not doing this with mods. Uh oh, let me tell this to Steve. Hold on a second. One second. Okay. Anyway, it says New Lethal, though.
That's what this is. This is the New Lethal Company. No mods or no mods. Uh, no modifications to the game. No. Uh, anyway, you're looking forward to scared shitless of people going ham and finding all their super broken stuff. Yeah. Well, that was that's already happening, you know, but that is the relationship, right? That that's like I I think again, this is coming from John who's been around the block a couple of times with fighting games, right? Everyone thinks they have a super tight system that's going to cover everything usually when a game comes out and then people will find a way around it.
That is the goal of fighting game players. Like, fighting game players love breaking the game in some way. They just love it, dude. So, it it's also the goal and it's fun discovering something that you and we talked about this even with RPGs. We're like expedition 33 was such a fun game because it felt like you were breaking the game when you were dis when you were discovering things, right? So, fighting games sort of need that. Fighting games need this aspect where it's like I am figuring out things that maybe somebody else has never figured out before.
Um, and does that line up? Is that cool or is it actually broken? you know, or is it actually really breaking the integrity of the game? And as long as developers have that understanding of moving forward where it's like, okay, let people find some [ __ ] and then really see if this is a problem or if it's cool. Like for example, Omniman can loop everyone found with Omniman, he can loop his corner thing again. However, it's not that good. Like in this version of the game, it wasn't nearly as powerful because it scales just way too much.
even though you can just keep doing it ad nause forever, right? So that's like it's an interesting thing. Is that break the gameplay design or does it is it just easier to do the easy thing and just blow them out of the water with a level three? You know what I mean? Yeah. Omniman's pay attention loops like Omniman can pretty much loop pay attention infinitely in the corner because uh because the the general assist will always bring the bar down, the basic assist, and then you can just combo it again. learned something, pay attention, learn something, pay attention.
Yeah, he can he can do that. Uh, he could do it in the previous one without the assist, right? So, it's like, yeah, people find a ways around this, but there is you have to you have to expel resources to do it. So, anyway, it's just fun. I'm looking forward to playing other characters, man. Um, I don't know about Allen. I got to get I got to get the hang of him. I like him, but I really want to play Conquest. I got to stop playing Mark at some point. He's so good. I think I think the best characters in the game were Mark, even Battle Beast.
I think they were the best. Uh, easily. I think Mark is probably the best character in the game, but Battle Beast is way too good. And, uh, and Eve's assist was crazy. I think Allen is good, but his neutral is kind of rough. He can get zoned out kind of hard. He can't really deal with much of it, so it's okay. I think Thulo's really good, too. I think she's probably going to end up being really good. But right now in the beta, bro, Eve's assist was god tier. And then Allan and Mark, I'm sorry, um Mark and Battle Beast can be played anywhere cuz Battle Beast's assist is also amazing.
It's super good. He has an overhead assist for God's sake, you know. So yeah. Yeah. Cecil uh Cecil was really good in the previous one, but he's been toned down a lot. Yeah, you can actually play. You could have played him in the tutorial uh to see how toned down he is. He can't assist. He can't dash spam and projectile spam nearly as much as he could before, but he still can. Anyway, it's cool. It was cool to see how many people were just like playing the game and coming up with cool ideas and stuff like that.
That's the whole point of it, you know? That was like the stuff that I saw very early on. And the craziest part is that the game really opens up when you start doing heroic strike to each other. That's when it actually really opens up. So, believe it or not, there's there's levels to it. And once people will start even when the game comes out and they start heroic striking each other, it's going to get even crazier. Yeah, it's like two weeks away. Jeez, it's a little over two weeks away. Jesus. You seen the rage quit issues?
Yeah. I mean, they were happening. You know what? I think the rage quit issue was exacerbated by people with the um I'd say with the the vanity to think that they could make into the credits, you know. I Yeah, I I think I think the beta I think the top 20 thing was a cool idea, but people it was driving people [ __ ] insane. like it became it became a much bigger issue than it actually is of people just rage quitting. I I didn't run into any more rage quitting in Invincible Versus than any other game, dude.
But the the now rage quitting was directly attached to the direct efforts of people trying to get their rank points to make it, you know. So because of that, it was directly attached to so many people having to quit to try to make it and other people trying to make it and being quit on that it exacerbated the issue. You know what I mean? There was punishment for it. No, no, no. There was like you were you got points if they rage quit against you. You did. It's just like I I I couldn't even make it into the credits anyway because I I like, you know, helped out the team in small ways over the last couple years.
So, but even if I did, I wouldn't be surprised if if rage quitting was taken into consideration that five people in the top 20 probably were rage quitters. So, yeah, I would probably get bumped into it in some way, but still, it's like I wouldn't have been able to make it anyway. I wouldn't have been able to make it in there anyway. We had similar issues in the alpha as well. Alpha's beta is under the issue. License, no commitment and cost. Yeah, exactly. Exactly. Anyway, let me uh let me jump in here. Let me see if I can get Kenny in here.
Let me see if I can get this Discord up and running. Hold on a second. Anyway, I had a lot of fun. I just want to play more now. That's the problem. I just want to play more now. Uh no, they said that uh people that were previously like a part of play testing or anything like that are already going to be in special thanks and would not also be put into the top 20, you know, special thanks for the beta. Um which makes sense because you'll just be double listed. That doesn't make any sense.
Hold up, hold up, hold up. All right, there we go. Hi, Kenny. Uh, I don't think Did Steve ever get in here? Uh, I'm not sure. Uh, son of a [ __ ] Oh, wait. I can actually invite Simmons. Hold on a second. There we go. Uh, hold on a second. Send all this [ __ ] Anyway, hi, Crimson Man. Oh, yes. I love that goddamn game. I know. I know. I can't stop. That's my fault. Yep. It's my fault. If we didn't have that stream that night, if we didn't have that stream that night, you would not have been playing it as much.
Yeah. Cuz like in the beginning, I'm like, "Dude, this game, you know, I'm like I was telling you how much it booty." Yeah. Yeah. I think it's interesting. That's It's a fascinating ass game. It's like you almost have to go through the insane ups and downs. Uh that is Crimson Desert in its first like 20 hours to kind of discover how cool of a game it is. Anyway, yeah, I don't I'm not getting any spoilers, Jack. I don't know what the hell's in this um update. I've seen people laughing and giggling at weird things um which is like the entire point of Lethal.
So, we'll just be jumping into it. Hopefully, we can enjoy Lethal without Steve's echo. No, that's part of the charm. Yes, we need is echo echolocation. It's so bad it's good. Um, here's the thing. Yeah. No, I think everybody that's anybody that even likes Crimson Desert can agree a lot of stuff is still stupid in it and like goofy and doesn't need to be this weird and convoluted, but there's a lot of like there's a level of charm to it because of how insane it is. Like the game is just insane. Like they threw everything in there.
You know what I mean? So, it's fun. It's like a genuine sandbox of crazy [ __ ] Bacon, egg, and cheese makes you coming back to Lethal Company. Uh, it's arguably one of the best Yo Video Games games there is. Oh, yeah. I wouldn't play Lethal Company like by myself, but Lethal as a game and as a as us as a group when there's like new things that we've never seen before. Um, yeah. No, it's like it's great. It's genuinely um some of the best yo video games material out there. This a Street Fighter 6. Street Fighter 6 and cheese.

All three of them loud as [ __ ] just with Street Fighter 6 the [ __ ] dog. This is a Street Fighter 6. Oh my god. Anyway, hold on. Where is everybody? I'm sending everybody invites. I'm here. Yeah, you're here. Shut up, Kenny. Wait, wait, wait. Are you going to shock him? Ready? Ready? All right. Ready? Three, two, one. You're hitting me. zapping you.

Mine's on red. Mine's on red, too. But one of us, you'll know. Here. Here's my goddamn flashlight. You piece of [ __ ] [ __ ] I'll go right now. All right. Okay. It's definitely not safe in there. It's definitely not safe. Give me my flashlight back. Amazing on my right. Was Steve there? Oh my god. Steve's trying to this horrible monster crawling around.
sy stream. We got to get him in here. Yeah, I I sent him an invite to text everybody. Does anybody in the group text? You have to do it, Kenny. All right, you must. let me say who is this? Is that Sim? Is that you? Here. No. I got pushed off by Simmons somehow. Simmons actually pushed me off somehow. It's his fault. Hey, hang on a second. Hang on a second. I'm going to try something. Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ] Oh [ __ ] All right, I think we're good. Oh [ __ ] All right. Hey. Hi. Hello. I'm reviewing Just reviewing clips of Lethal clips. Lethal. Uhhuh. Of the adventures we've had. Uh, who's my favorite? Is he even here yet or no? Uh, no. What the hell? Not here. So, they added what? Three new enemies. Did some changes to some biome? Don't read it. I Well, all I know is that we have to check out uh what's what's the one biome? Well, it said forest. I don't know. It just just said I don't I didn't see what it was like.
Hey, we added some new stuff. I didn't say what some stuff. Is it Titan? Is Titan March? No, it's the March planet. Yeah, March has been reworked completely apparently. So, we're just doing like basic. Yeah. No mods. just boot the game as you normally would without the mod launcher and we're just going to jump in and and play it with each other. Gotcha. Gotcha. Cuz we have to see what their stuff is, you know? I want to see what their changes are. Um I Dude, I booted it up and it had a special intro. You guys should boot it up.
Oh, see you, John. Have a good one, man. Best of luck, dude. Mine's booted up. Tooted and booted. Yeah, I I literally like just started it and I was like, "Oh, let's see what this is and it has like an interesting intro and I was like what the hell some of your files may not be compatible with version you need to delete uh whatever save you had save yes so there are multiple files you can pick when you're firing up a game you need to not continue okay you need to like you know you guys know how to do that yeah yeah this is what I All right.
It includes a full rework of March. Three new numerous mis more creatures and scrap. I'm not supposed to. You're spoiling. I'm reading what the game popped into my face when I turned it on. You never heard Max say goodbye to anyone in chat before cuz I know him in real life. Shut up. Let me see if it does it for me. Hold on. The best Yeah. The best lethal clips are the one where ones where Kenny dies and his mic cuts out. We're like, Kenny, we're over here. I'm over here. March has been reworked so many [ __ ] times.
That and Dine. Is Dine the planet with the the the mansion on it or whatever? I don't remember. I think that one can it can actually change. H I don't remember which one March is. I'm sure it's one of the first I think it's one of the early planets we go to. How do I delete the Oh, so Kenny, when you go to like host or uh you you see the file, there's a little like X button to the right. Okay. Yeah. Press that. Delete. Just delete delete all the previous files that you had. So you have like a fresh a fresh set.
Am I joining or I'm just waiting for I guess I mean we were going to wait. Uh oh, let's give Steve a couple more minutes. Yeah, he he downloaded it. He definitely has the right version. Yeah. No, we're going to be playing Sorrowos. Um we'll see. I'm going to I don't know if I'm going to be able to play Returnal ahead of time. That game's That game you have to do like three or four runs. A lot. Yeah, you have to play it a lot. so I think I'm Pragmata is like this week, dude. Pragmata is like in a few days.
So we're going to be playing Pragmata, obviously. That's going to be a thing. Yeah. Three to four wins, too. Not just runs. Yes, you have to like do full completions three to four times to get like the actual ending. It's big. Is it Pragmata weekend? Oh, is it the weekend or is it like Tuesday? It's Friday. Okay. on Friday. It's Friday. Probably like Thursday night and there's a chance that there could be a state of play this week. I mean, there's a small one, you know? I hope so. Um, don't we all want Isn't that all what we all want?
We all just want to get hyped. Any interest in Mouse PI? Yeah, that game's that game has looked pretty funny. Uh, I'm I'm curious to check it out. I think I might have a sponsor for it at some point. I don't know. Uh, it's coming out soon, I believe. But yeah, that's that one where it's like the the super old school like Mickey Mouse animation. And it's like a first person shooter. Oh, yeah. That one a Doom game, but a Doom and Cuphead kind of mixture. Much closer to Cuphead. Yeah. Oh, is Troy Baker in it, too?
Wow. I'm shocked. Rubber hose boomer shooter. Rubber rubber is a good way of describing it. The devs should adopt that. They should be like, "Hey, yeah, this is a rubber hose boomer shooter." Uh, Steve's having some computer problems. Hold on a second. I'm going to talk actually. Yeah, that is a good question. Uh, Joe, since since you brought it up, yeah, like you're getting Tomodachi Life. That's one of those like sold a ton of copies on three. Who is excited for that game for a new one of those? Like I'm always curious cuz you know cozy games is just so far out of my wheelhouse.
Not anymore. I I mean I try but like they're still like I don't know. I just they're just they're just they're just not my kind of thing. I mean like can't we can't pretend, you know? What kind of cozy games? I mean I I've got an Animal Crossing file going. I' I've very impressive honestly. Like I'm not I'm not lying. There is what people have done in that game and created is extreme. Oh, you mean Poptopia and [ __ ] Yeah. Popia and stuff like that. But yeah, Popia Pokeipia. It's weird that like Nintendo is releasing two two cozy games back to back with Poptopia and Tomodachi Life one month apart.
And it's like, "Oh, that's right. Tomodachi Life is just like the new Meiverse thing." Yeah. like the new Miiverse, like you know, like the Sims but with your Miis. Gotcha. so it's like, okay, it's sold a bunch on the 3DS a thousand years ago. So, I'm just kind of like, is there Yeah. Know, every time sometimes something comes back and like you wonder, is there an audience for this? Like, I don't know. Like, there should have been an audience for Shinobi. Y'all should have bought Shinobi. They do be cozy sometimes. We need a top Final Fantasy ranking.
[ __ ] I haven't even played them all. You nor I have actually played all of them. Neither one of us have. Yeah. No, I've played uh I've played all of them past Well, actually, no. I I've stopped playing several of them and didn't beat them. Yeah. So, easy answer is uh Final Fantasy 1, 2, and 3. The answer is Final Fantasy 7 and then Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and then Final Fantasy 7 remake. There it is. That's my top three. And being real though, I mean the the two best pharmacy is pharmacy 67. Damn. Like like that, huh?
I'm just being honest. Like that. Is this the best ones? The best ones are He really did it. He really did it. He really did it. Uh and then number four is Chrono Trigger cuz it's just a [ __ ] Final Fantasy game. He said it. It it just is, dude. He's technically right that I enjoy Crisis Score Reunion. Yeah, I I feel like outside of some minor nitpicks, dude, there's not much of a reason to play OG PSP Crisis Score when you can play Crisis Score Reunion. It's such a better game, dude. Like it it can you can you can objectively see Crisis Score Reunion from like a critical standpoint of being like a seven to a seven and a half maybe.
And if you're a Final Fantasy 7 fan, it's easily an eight, if not higher. So, it's it's way better. Like, some voice lines are different. I get don't get me wrong, but it's way better. There was there was something where I I stopped playing Reunion where you're chasing a kid down. He stole something from you in in sector 5 or something in Midgard. And that was like the like it was like this really weird confusing kind of like fetch quest thing. And that's where like I stopped playing that Yeah. But it it's interesting how you can definitely see even in reunion you can see like the roots of the PSP game.
Oh yeah. Kind of or or just more the compilation era of Final Fantasy. That that PS2 era of Final Fantasy. Yeah. Exactly. History. And they preserve that. It's still there. It's just that you do a lot of goddamn fighting in the game. Like a lot of [ __ ] fighting. And luckily the fighting in the new version is actually kind of enjoyable. Welcome back to the stage of history. Yeah, OG Crisis Cor's combat is straight painful. It's painful. You have to like really love the game. The material stuff is cool. And the material stuff was really cool in even the new Crisis Core.
But dude, with if fighting sucks, then it sucks. Yeah, I had a fun time with it. I liked it. I really did. I had I had a really good time with the new one. And it was much closer to like a a remaster, you know, than a remake, even though weird to think that we may be coming we may be coming close to a close on seven kind of in general. Yeah, I know. I've been I've been been talking about that for a while, dude. I was like looking back at my [ __ ] ass something popped up.
It was like the Pragmata um reveal last year at Summer Games Fest and I was wearing the Shinra shirt for FF7 luck even back then. So even even then I we were like copium maybe they can tease it here and it dude we've been doing that for a while now. Like it's been it's been nearly an entire year of like that could have it could have popped up at any point and it just hasn't. So, I guess let me ask you this. I guess where when 73 comes out and we're all pretty sure it's going to be a really great really great time.
Reaper is like, you know, goaty [ __ ] right? Um after that, are you excited for for what Hamaguchi and maybe that that dev team is going to do beyond seven? Is that something you'd be like interested in, looking forward to? Yeah. I mean I mean obviously I don't I I don't think that I need them to do more FF7 [ __ ] right? Yeah. Like something new or you might be like, "Hey, me I don't know if it's necessarily 17 or whatever, you know, but you know, just something new." I think they would I think their next game, to be real, I'll be completely honest.
I think their next game will probably be a lot closer to a PlayStation one era like Final Fantasy cuz that was their some of their most successful range and their most like beloved range and it's proven that it can still be successful. So I think that they're probably now turn-based specifically. I don't think it'll do that. I don't think I don't think any of those devs want to do that necessarily. I mean in like game design and like world design and and enemy placements and kind of that kind of stuff like like how you engage with the world, how you engage with towns, like all that kind of [ __ ] Um Expedition 33 just copied the formula, dude.
Like they just had a little bit of Chrono Trigger, a little bit of FF7, a little bit of PS1 Final Fantasy, and that's just what it was. Sonar or something. And everyone loved it where it's like, damn, this formula is just good. And I think what I think for the sake of Final Fantasy continuing, uh, they need to Resident Evil that [ __ ] And what I mean by that is that they need to create systems and create a game that has beloved mechanics in it that can continue to the next game and be refined, right, and get better and also follow a pattern where people get into a Final Fantasy and they know what they're getting into.
You know what I mean? because that is it's been the interesting thing and also the the the deterrent of Final Fantasy is that you don't know what you're getting into. Like one Final Fantasy game is going to be a completely different thing to the last one going back 20 years. So they're they're just wildly different games. That that doesn't just confuse people that are new to the series, it also is making it hard to make games, right? having to create completely new systems, Uh, so yeah, I think I think they need to they probably are learning this from Final Fantasy 7 remake series to like iterate on what they have and make it better and more impressive and do cool stuff with it the exact same way that Resident Evil does.
I think they probably should do something like that. Yeah, I think they they probably need to get into a mode where it's like, okay, well, it's going to have a similar map and whatever structure like you were saying too where more in sort of because of we can't we can't spend five to six years making a game anymore like nobody can do that. Like that that's getting that's getting like beyond you know uh reasonable for stuff. So I think I think when we were in high school we got three major Final Fantasy releases. Yeah, we got we got three.
releases in in a four year span, you know, 979, 2000, we got three Final Fantasy games, full full Final Fantasy, full big ass games like Yeah. And then like a year later and not to mention a whole a whole bunch of other [ __ ] like Parasite Eve and Zenogearss and like all the Brave Fencer Mousashi and goddamn Saga Frontier, all that other [ __ ] that happened. FF Tactics, like Vagrant story happened within the Chronocross. Like Christ, man. That's the problem is that I get it. the games were smaller, but they were being they were diversifying themselves enough to try to like what what it kind of reminds me of that like '90s era Square was pretty much what Capcom's doing now, you know, where there's like they have a completely diverse portfolio of stuff that is being made and created and backed up in the next one and the next one and the next one where Capcom is actually like sort of matching that through that throughput right now in the current like generation.
So now Capcom is getting like four to four to five releases a year. The the real future of video gaming is is fixing your pipeline. Yes, it literally is. It's a management issue, dude. It it entirely is. This is a management problem. So it's like we just can't make games fast enough. Preaching it for years, man. Just know what you're going to make and then just set up and do it and don't ignore anything that comes along like, oh well this this genre is taking off. Should we? No. No. when we're done with the game, you want to start a brand new game, you can think about it.
But like, we're making this game right now, and that's what we're going to do. Yeah. Capcom having their own engine to make games quicker. No, the the benefit Capcom gets from having their own engine is strictly monetary, right? If you think like there is some stuff that's shared amongst the teams of like, oh, we've solved some problems here. Will it help this other game? No. that the problems that are solved at the end of like for example the issues they ran into with Monster Hunter Wilds and like Dragons Dogma 2 that won't benefit any game for like five six years like it'll take so long.
It's not going to benefit our any Resident Evil game because none of Evil games are like that. So it's like okay well whatever. Like you know these are these are fixes for big open world stuff like Exactly. Yeah. Monster World is close to being fixed. Like it's gotten a lot better. What I'm saying is that the the what what caused those issues is not going to reflect in games currently. That's not how that works. It's going to it's going to happen to the games that are starting development right now and then come out in like 2030.
Exactly. Yeah. Yeah. And they're also working on their engine upgrade which is world called. But yeah, like the whole it's just wild to think cuz there was a point like what two years ago? two or three years ago where they're like if a big AAA game is starting development and this is like 22 23 it won't come out on this generation of consoles. Yeah. Not at all. Like it was like 2 years into the PS5's life and like if you're starting a AAA game now from very beginning, guess what? It's a PS6 game now. Damn.
It's true. We got Crisis Core Reunion in 2022, 16 in 2023, Rebirth in 2024. Yeah, it's like one release a year. Don't get me wrong. It's not bad. But Strangers of Paradise, as cool of a game it is, dude, who the [ __ ] is that game for, bro? Who is that game for? It's for It's for tick tockers. Like, I I like it. I think it was neat. I enjoyed it. It's for me, right? It's It's for very It's I don't It's not really even for Neo fans. like, and that's that's a very specific subsect if we're going to be saying Neoans specifically.
It's not even for Neoans, man. Um, anyway, when I heard that they were making a a [ __ ] Final Fantasy Souls, like I'm telling you, in my head, in my head, that game looked much different, right? Like, chat, just let's be real with each other. Yo, bro, Jack Garland over here. Like I was thinking like warrior of light, red mage costumes, draon costumes, like job stuff in Soulslike. They all have the classic look like stuff like that. I was thinking like generalized Final Fantasy Souls like could be kind of cool. Instead, we get like crazy edgy Mc Edgelord sort of guy.
Crazy to me because I I was told about that game. I heard about that game early on and what the idea for what they wanted that game to be and I'm it sounds so cool. Yeah, I'm pretty sure at this point the the the initial kind of hope that it what it was going to lead into I don't think that's happening anymore. We would have heard something by now. Yeah. Like like literally a mono design, right? Like like literally Yoshitaka a mono like old school Final Fantasy like feel to it. Like that could have been [ __ ] cool.
Yeah. It just and then and then the game when then we saw the game get revealed. I'm like, "Oh, not what exactly what I was picturing." That is definitely not what was in anybody's head. Yeah. Anyway, I didn't even know Strangers of Paradise was FF. You wouldn't like there's there's very little like outside of like this chat a boss fight at the beginning that would connect it and have like a connective tissue in some way, you know? Steve's ready. What do you say? He said, um, let's see. Um, he said, "I should have bought a new computer a while ago." You guys were right.
Yeah, I did see the trailer for FF7 uh Ever Crisis. Yeah, they're getting into uh the Northern Crater, which is cool. Yeah, Icicycle in or something. Yeah, Icicle in and Northern Crater. They show like the weapons coming out of the crater. It's like neat. Neat. I don't think it's spoilers cuz I think it's going to look much better in a part three. It's also Ever Crisis. So yeah, I mean it's not the same game. It's not the same content. Dang, Steve's m Oh, wait. Okay, now he's off. What? Okay, there we go. man it like you know Steve's still trying to do a reachound for his PC and it's like hey you should buy like new computer parts and like you know get a stronger computer bro what was that thing what what are they calling it project helix I believe is the name of the new Xbox computer/ console Oh, something like that.
Yeah, double helix. Yeah, it's a Helix. Yeah, Project Helix. They already sent out like merchandise to influencers like some, you know, Xbox people or what? Yeah, really. Like apparently, yeah, they've already sent out like keychains and hats, you know, to to big Xbox, you know, you know, influencers, YouTubers, whatever. That shit's coming out soon. Well, I mean the the the rumor was that like no, they were still going to they were going to stick to next year, like next like fall next year where they were going to stick to it. Um, and I'm like, you know what, can't come soon enough, you know, for people who don't like finangling with PCs, you know, don't like, you know, troubleshooting.
So, Steve, hey, man. You know, since the Steam machine is kind of well, who knows what's happening with that now. Maybe this is this will be a godsend for people who hate troubleshooting. Mhm. yo London, thank you. I just turned it off and turn it back on again. Shadow, thank you for the 20s. There you go. What you're saying is stop announcing games quickly and focus on the ones that are already announced. Cough. Kingdom Hearts 4 cough. Seriously though, Square has announced other games with no Kingdom Hearts 4 news. No, no, no, bro. The problem with Kingdom Hearts 4 is that that wasn't a game.
like it was more a proof of concept that you you you're you were looking at that Kingdom Hearts 4 announcement like it was an actual video game. It's not. It was an it was like a concept of what a game could be in the same way that like the first Pragmata trailer was a concept of what that game could be. That's not what the actual game is. There's no game yet. So, they had to make a game. You know, you mean like a tech demo? Not No, it wasn't even a tech demo. It wasn't running.
It likely was It likely was just in engine running and it wasn't an actual video game. Like it's just animation. You know, they they they Namura always does this for a lot of the games he's directly in charge of. Final Fantasy 15 was the same way. Kingdom Hearts 3 was the same way. They did the same [ __ ] FF7, they did not. FF7, the first trailer was actual gameplay cuz it ran like [ __ ] It was like running really bad. But in that situation, it went away for like several years and got came back as a completely different game.
Mean versus 13. No, Versus 13 and FF15. The both games were had like their first dude, you guys remember the [ __ ] Noctis thing where he was fighting like Leviathan or some [ __ ] through the city? Yeah. That was not that was not gameplay. The thing that ended up being in the final game was much different. Yeah. I well and gosh I've I've I I actually had this conversation I want to say a day or two ago. Um no I'm not saying Kingdom Hearts 4 isn't real. I'm saying I'm saying it hasn't probably been in development for that long.
That's it. No. Yeah. Well, like well there was there was some rumor that like yeah whatever was worked on kind of got quickly scrapped and they're just kind of building the whole game up which is why I haven't heard about it for four. Like the versus 13 thing is like crazy cuz I'm like guys like there's a reason there's a reason all that stuff doesn't exist. You know in in the final game was because one it wasn't really well a lot of it wasn't really real and the other part is that like it never worked like it didn't it didn't run.
Like it was conceptual like him teleporting around like that and did not work the same in the final game. It it was breaking the console. I I go yeah I could go I could go into more detail but yeah it was the PS3 and it and its ability to stream data was not sufficient. Um it it broke the dev kits all the time and couldn't get it couldn't get it couldn't get around it. So like yeah it's like sometimes things that look too good to be true are except Phantom Blade. Phantom Blade's real. Which was kind of crazy.
That was kind of crazy. To this day where I'm like, wait, it's Wait, it's real and it actually controls. Well, I see here in the Discord. You made it in. I'm trying. I'm trying. Just give me a Yeah. And you you saw that statement, Max, that they the that uh uh no AI and [ __ ] Yeah, he was like I retweeted it. The point the Yeah, me too. I was like the point of like, you know, it's human art is the point kind of thing. Like it's like Well, we we've talked to that director a lot too.
He's a pretty down to earth guy with like pretty down to earth game ideas that he's been working on since he's been in college, you know? So, he's not like an ultra corporate dude. He just got like a lot of backing when his game was looking pretty good. And obviously like a lot of big Chinese developed games are getting a lot of support right now, like financial support. So they it feels like they just sort of fell into a lot of financial support and it was able to make the game they always wanted to make.
He had a little and he had those he had those like mobile games cuz this game is actually like the reason it's called Zero is because it is like a a sort of prequel prequel sequel type thing. Yeah. To to a to a small mobile RPG thing that he' done, you know, throughout college. So, um, yeah, he was able to like, it wasn't just like, hey, trust me, I'm making a game. It's like, okay, well, you've actually, okay, he's done some work. He's put some time in. He's he has developed stuff before, too. So, so yeah, like if you think like if someone's like, "Oh, well, I have a great idea.
Have you ever made anything before?" No. Well, good luck getting those good luck getting uh, you know, the loan then. But like, yeah. So, no, I I I'm very excited for that game. um as they're going for their final push. I uh it's good that a lot of it's been received well, too, you know. Yeah, I think they just they just announced they're bringing it to Brazil for for a Brazilian game show. Oh, that's good. Are you guys in a are you guys in a room? No. Uh we haven't even booted up. I'm going to I'm going to make I'm going to hoist right now.
Hold on a second. Then when we get in there, uh we'll we'll [ __ ] each other up. Hold on a second. Let me hoist. Okay. Um, they sent you an invite, Steve. Welcome to your first day on Slims. This is your join my crew where you will eat and sleep for the contract. All right. I'll see you guys on the other side. All right. To complete the onboarding process, you will want to check the instruction manual and sign into your ship's computer terminal. We trust I can hear you. Can you hear me? Great ass. Great great ass great ass.
Great great ass great ass great pointing. What's the What's the pointing emote? I don't know how to I don't I don't know how to emote. I don't know how to play this game anymore. Chad, help me out. How do I emote? It's two. Two. There we go. You two time [ __ ] Two. Two. All right. Check. Check. Check. You guys hear me? I hear you, Kenny. I believe in you, too. It was you. It was you. You you the stage of history. Steve, do you need me to come need to come over and [ __ ] your [ __ ] up?
Hey, is he in here? Well, let him let him give give him a second to figure it out. See if his computer was acting on the fritz. Put it on the uh chat. Is he streaming or nozz? You not yet. Okay. Steve might not be able to stream because I think one of his computers is messed up. Can anybody hear me? We can hear you. Yes. Yes. All right. Oh, echo break down. No, no, you sound good. There's an echo. Slight. It's fine. We have We have proxy chats, so we're not going to hear it all the time.
True. Very slight. The update doesn't include any like um differences in outfits or anything like that. Just uh we all got bigger penises. Yes. like like an inch and a half. So now we're at like like 6 7 8 9 10ish inches. Girth. Yes. Only in girth. Reverse girth. So it's like going backwards. That's the most important part. Uh let me know. Let me know if we get kosher Steve Simmons. You guys good? I'm good. I'm doing my best not to [ __ ] lose it. So, let's just let's just go. All right. Is Is your [ __ ] working?
You're not You're not streaming, are No, it's just [ __ ] PCs, dude. I I updated in video and next thing I know, everything just went to [ __ ] I can't even turn the damn thing on. I can't stream. I can't do anything. I have to like go to like [ __ ] Best Buy or something. Yeah, if you um The good news is that I recently had to go to uh my my power supply on my computer died. So, my computer just didn't turn on and you you the the the what's it called? The um uh the survey where they like tell you what's wrong with it is like like a hundred bucks, right?
I don't [ __ ] know. And then like the fix could be cheap. It could be like something not super bad. So, Geek Squad was pretty quick about it. They were within like a they were within like a day they fixed my computer. Yeah. Yeah. I'm just Oh, [ __ ] man. Let's let's have some fun, man. Let's just go and have some fun. Get my mind off this [ __ ] computer. uh. All right, let's go do some stuff. So, I was saying, you know, if if next year Xbox is going to release their new console PC, it's just a PC in a box, that'd be great for people who do not want to tinker.
It would. Yeah. especially if they actually handle it in an update wise that doesn't [ __ ] things up. And I don't trust the people that make Windows 11. I mean, I don't either, but at the same time, it's also like, all right, well, we don't have to worry about, you know, I don't know, is is my RAM stick good? Yeah, right. Yeah. It's the wildest [ __ ] there. Like, I follow the instructions perfectly. I I installed the the um, you know, the update. Like, they've been bitching about, "Oh, you need to update your driver. You need to update your driver." Well, that's different.
I'll update the driver. I avoid that so much. You get that just cuz like I I avoid Nvidia updates cuz like I know they they like, "Oh, we have a new update. [ __ ] you. It's going to break my computer." Yeah, Nvidia updates have like the highest probability of messing things I make money. Yeah. Yeah, exactly. toxics. I wait until I have no other choice. Shift to run, right? Yes. Shift. You know, I'm going to go around the back. I'm going in the front. That's an interesting door animation. Now, the door like slightly opens. Weird. Yeah.
Like the door the door opens now. That's kind of There's like little differences cuz we've played this game too [ __ ] much. Uh, what's scan? Right click. Okay. What's up here? Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Oh my god. Welcome back. What' you find of history? A cash register. Damn. Just take that back. Who's going to die first? Not me. Bro, there's no loot in this game of history. Oh, thank god somebody's close to me. Hello. Okay, you guys are on the other side of this door. Oh, god damn. Okay, there we go. I was alone. I got scared, too.
I was alone. I heard some weird sounds. You weird sounds. Oh my god. We're at the [ __ ] front. Holy What the hell? I circle around. What the dumb [ __ ] Nice screw. Yeah, I know. Like you're like, "Hey, there's a key over here, son. Secure door over here." Hey, secure door key. Hey, where's that at? No, no, that's the open [ __ ] we never do. Well, that was fun. Okay, you're there, bro. Behind you. I got two things. I literally have absolutely nothing. Has anybody heard from Simmons? I've been in here. I've been in here. I've been in here.
Clicking sound. Yeah. You You're hearing a lot of weird [ __ ] bro. I haven't heard anything. Uh, cash register collected. That's good. Simmons. Simmons. Damn it. This is where I've been. [ __ ] This map is mega confusing. Hello. I just Hello. Don't scare me, bro. I'm getting out. Wait, wait, wait. Hey, hey, hey, check it out. I hear you. I don't know where. Uh, follow my voice. There you go. What's up? There's a room. Potential loot. Trying to scan as much as I can. I don't see [ __ ] I don't see No, not this way. This man called upon me to find nothing.
Well, dude, this is like the only way. It's got to be Freaking nothing. Maybe. Kenny went back. I think that's Kenny. Yeah, it's Kenny. New creature data. Hey, what the Did you see anything? I just found a new creature. Yeah, I just got a new creature. He's like right above me over here. We go to the left. What the hell is this room? What in the [ __ ] Look to your left. Uhoh. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. Don't go in there. Don't go in there. Don't go in there. Um, it's a face hugger. Ah, gotcha.
Good call. Damn. I would have gotten eat. Yeah, I was just scanning everything. There's nothing here, dude. I hate it. I hate it here. Uh, I'm going back. I'm coming with you. This This sucks. Wait for me. We'll die together. No, that ain't the way. Are you going back? I'm I'm trying to go back. I think it's this way. Okay. They found stuff. I think it's this way. [ __ ] Spider. Spider. Where? Over here. Spider webs. Look out. Look out. Spider webs. Yeah. Yeah. If you get if you get caught in, he'll know where you are.
Oh, it's a dead end. God damn it, Kenny. Yeah, there's a spider in here. Uh, we should get the [ __ ] out. We should just leave. We made money. We got nothing. Not lost. Look where I'm at. I got a couple things and a key. Yeah, it's fine. And Simmons got other stuff. We're going back. There's There's a There's a spider. Bail. [ __ ] [ __ ] that. Well, I found two things. That's fine. What does tab do now? I see tab is now a button. It's It highlights the inventory. We all in? All right, let's get the [ __ ] out of here.
All I found was a couple bolts. That's fine. It's It's money. And if we don't die, we're not going to be down 200. Yeah. Down 202. So, we're already past it. That catcher pretty much was the quota on one go. God damn. I saw literally nothing to pick up. What updates were in there? They vaguely said it. They're like, "Oh, we changed. We fixed a planet, added three creatures, added a creature back and most profitable." Did you see the RE4 port on Dreamcast? Definitely didn't. Okay, where else can we go? Was that March? No, that was the default planet cuz we need money.
Um, we can go to March right now. Let's go. Bam. No flashlights, though. Yeah, it was it was foggy before, so I didn't want to go. Ah, just like real life. One spider, everyone abandons the house and then never goes back. Yeah, that works. a couple weeks ago. They're all like, "Oh, watch the Spider-Man trailer." I'm like, "All right."
