Hosts gush about Crimson Desert and declare it the best game ever, framing the session with fan enthusiasm and jokes.
Maximilian Dood dives into Crimson Desert with friends, turning a chaotic, bizarre open world into a surprisingly engaging, meme-worthy co-op sandbox ride.
Summary
Maximilian Dood and crew spend a marathon stream exploring Crimson Desert on PC, riffing through the game’s strange open world, obtuse controls, and surprisingly deep combat options. They embrace the game’s chaotic energy, debating pre-release impressions, patch history, and the MMO-like progression that drives you to do everything—from cleaning chimneys to chasing chickens. Kenny, Nico, and Simmons trade hot takes about how the game handles story pacing, exploration, and the infamous early UI/controls friction, while simultaneously discovering multiple flashy combat moves, a robust skill tree, and a flexible grappling system. The crew experiments with DLSS, ray tracing, and upscaling settings live, weighing performance against visual fidelity on a 4090 and base PS5 comparisons. They discover moments of genuine wonder—like sword-wielding combos, “Zang” style grapples, and pirate-ship shenanigans—interspersed with the game’s notorious clunkiness and wind-borne glitches. The conversation also touches on game industry realities: pre-launch expectations, the risk of patches after launch, and how “open-world” vs. “narrative-driven” design affects player engagement. By the end, the stream pivots from critique to curiosity, leaving viewers with a sense that Crimson Desert is a genuine curiosity worth experiencing with friends, if not necessarily a flawless masterpiece. Maximilian sums up the vibe: it’s a “best worst game” that somehow delivers a unique kind of fun through its mechanical density and offbeat charm.
Key Takeaways
- Crimson Desert runs surprisingly well on PC with DLSS 4.0/4.5 options; Ray Reconstruction dramatically impacts visuals but can reduce FPS on a 4090, so players balance quality and performance.
- Combat is the standout charm: an unexpectedly deep moveset (giant swing, grappling follow-ups, and parry timing) that turns chaotic skirmishes into visually satisfying sequences.
- The game’s world is a sandbox on steroids—you can interact with nearly everything: light puzzles, loot systems, weather interactions, and even cooking, all feeding into a sense of emergent play.
- Story and quest progression feel MMO-esque and curiously hand-holdy early on, which can dilute momentum, but the combat and exploration payoff can redeem later-play experiences.
- Players can observe skills in the wild to learn them later, a mechanic that leans into a ‘watch-then-do’ approach rather than a pure skill-tree grind.
- Co-op potential is strong: the kind of goofy, shared exploration Maximilian and crew enjoyed is the game’s natural sweet spot, more fun with friends than solo.
- The game is polarizing by design: it looks next-gen and plays like a massive curiosity cabinet, but its direction and pacing can alienate players seeking a tight narrative ride.

Transcending history and the world. A tale of dudes and souls eternally retold. Heat. We all need to shine to see how far we've come on our journey. Get to go. Searching for our star. Deep in the night in my heart for that special light to show me with love to show me with powerful ab to car. Shine. Yo, what's up, dudes? Hell yeah, brother. It's here. I've been waiting for this for the longest time. Uh, Red Velvet Crimson Desert. I think it's the best game ever made. I've been telling people this. Red Oasis. Literally, Red Oasis.
The best game of the year. Arid dry area. The Arid Area. Um I am I I've been saying this game's amazing for the longest time. That's right. Thought we played it. Exactly. I've been saying we would never play this, but it is game of the year. It is the best game ever made. Generation. Not year. Generation. Century. Millennium. I said this there will not be a better game until three the year 3000. I said this quintuples u a gaming. Yes, quintuple sextuple a gaming. So the plan from this point forward is to become a permanent Crimson Desert streamer.
We are not leaving this room. Yeah. Until we 100% this game. 100% it. All of us are gonna stay here. We're just going to we're going to continue to play it until we have acquired we have picked up every coin and acquired every bug. Kenny, I haven't even I've only seen it, but you can run around and grab bugs and [ __ ] Yeah, we're going to grab every [ __ ] bug. We're going to clean every chimney. We're going to clean every [ __ ] chimney. We're going to arm wrestle every every drunkard in every bar. We're going to cook every chicken.
we're going to find everything, dude. We're going to literally We're going to kill approximately 700,000 bandits. Yeah, which is the main enemy type of the game where I kill 700,000 of them. 700,000 of them. Yeah, there's approximately 700,000 bandages. Collect all the dog tags. Wait, wrong game. Uh, so yes. Uh, that's it. Um, we ran out of ideas. And Steve lost his eyeball or some [ __ ] I think Steve literally said his eyeball's not working. Punish Steve. Steve became like old snake all of a sudden. His eye he has patch on his eye. His eye fell off.
And his his doctor was like, "Maybe I'm saying too much information, but his doctor was like, "Stop looking at stuff." So, Steve can't even like look at screens and [ __ ] He just gets he has to sit in a dark room by himself. That's his That's his that is his uh remedy. Apparently, his new stream is just going to be dark room making uh sound effects and he won't even be able to look at the chat. No, that's crazy, man. That's crazy. ASMR. Anyway, uh we got the PC version. Um, the only person in this room that's qualified to take us through a virtual tour of the Crimson Desert featuring the best main character, John Crimson.
Yes. Played by the best main character, Kenneth. Oh, Unruly. It's going to be Kenny. Kenny's gonna do it. Steve's gonna call in and play from Parseek. And that's what's gonna happen. Um, but not looking. We're gonna see what the heck this is like. And I Simmons, did you you played it with me? Well, same time. I mean, I had a different appointment, but it was it was you played it a year ago. Yeah, I played the same the same event. All right. Same event. I Everybody had the same bucket of opinion. It was really funny though because you and Nico played it before me and then I went on there on the last day of the event and man, like the the people were so tired of hearing the same things.
Bro, there was like the poor guys at the booth had to explain everything so many times. They seemed exhausted. Yeah. Like when when when the clock was like rolling around for the event to close, they were like they were boom, get out of here. I want out of here so fast. They were like the first out the door. They're like, I I'm so sick of trying to explain the controls. We were first ones that played it and they were also like, "Can we get your feedback?" Like, "Can we get some feedback from you in like written form?" And I was like, "Sure." And I just like they're like so a guy came out with like a pen and paper and he's like from Max a million dude and he's like so what are the things that you you told me during your play session and he like documented it and he's like thank you very much and that was it.
Wow. So it was like did any of that change? No. But by the time it came out and the reviews hit and all of the reviewers pretty much said the same [ __ ] that we said and a lot of people did. It was kind of like now they're changing it. Oh yeah. Take notes, Tokcon. I I want it to be it, Dude. Hopefully. We'll see. I want it to be better. Like, I wanted the game to be like super cool. Yeah. I mean, like Unreal, but like I hope Tocon is good cuz a lot of people like, "What do you think?
They're doing this. They're changing." I'm like, "I hope so." I I hope so. It seemed really cool when we saw everything before we played it. I'm like I'm I'm like kind of numb to that game like from the beta. It was just not the game I wanted to did not elicit emotions and and and but that doesn't mean I want the game to be bad. That doesn't mean I don't want the game to change. I do. Yeah. I'd like I'd like people to get the Marvel game they want. And here's the thing. I want that to happen.
I hope it I hope it comes out good. Here's the thing. There's I truly feel there there's an opportunity and a time to to make a choice on changing that stuff. It's not after launch, dude. It's really not because by the time the launch happens, everything's set in already. People have impressions made and it's like, could you have gotten them on your side if maybe like the controls were even out a little bit? Like even though the story sucked this up, that's the one thing's things controlled normally. There's comeback stories, but I wouldn't risk it.
It's hard to It's hard to find investments. Obviously, it's it's way harder to get a comeback story than than to just completely crash and burn, you know? Which is which is why like I appreciate games that take like obvious attempts when there is a sizable amount of criticism before the game is out. Like anything that's a beta or preview. No, this game doesn't exist yet, dude. We we have inclinations of how it plays before it's out. It can change. Like Invincible Versus is a game that we have played a lot of different versions of and holy [ __ ] that game has changed astronomically in 8 months.
Like an insane amount since the previous beta. Yeah. And and it honestly there's some part of me almost wonders if maybe the game was shown too early. Almost invincible. Yeah. Oh, I think so. I almost think so. I I well the thing was is cuz man just just speaking as as the history we we both share kind of with some of the devs and I was so annoyed because I remember the first showing was at a a Microsoft thing and it was a really short short teaser like trailer quote unquote trailer and I remember it didn't really showcase the game particularly great and the exact same effing thing happened to KI.
Yeah. And I remember when that happened I was like Yeah. Yeah. Invincible is going literally through the KI thing all over again. Why did this happen again where like I I saw the trailer and I was like and then the gameplay sells people like a ton. And I'm like it luckily luckily both cases there was a playable build at whatever big event they they they debuted it. Yeah. So it was really quick to get people to go in like oh I played the hands. It's actually really fun. Like I'm like yeah just get your hands on it.
I want to make that double expression cuz man sometimes like both of those times where it's like this short quick little teaser it doesn't give you anywhere near enough info of like what the game is or why it's special or why it's good why it's unique like so I was like man I that happens but I think I think taking that feedback and like making adjustments ahead of time before your official launch happens where reviews are effective or early firstirhand criticism like people that aren't press because I get it people don't trust press I understand it people did not trust what I had to say about many of these games before they were playable.
Like I understand it where it's like when when you have a pre a predisposition in your head of how sick something is and then you hear from someone actually it's got problems but it looks so incredibly [ __ ] cool. You start you your natural disposition is to not trust that person because your thought process is already lined up with something else. you want to hear from other people that also think it's super [ __ ] cool. People don't want and that's the funny thing. Despite the fact that um long form essay content videos are a big thing on YouTube and again they are now.
Yeah, they are. But here's the thing. People don't want to challenge their perception. They don't want their mind changed. Yes. They just want to be validated. Yeah. A lot of people want validation. Like that's normal. People watch a 3 hour, 4 hour breakdown of something or or a rage piece or whatever. They just want to be validated. They don't want to have their mind changed. Exactly. They just want to be they just want whatever preconceived notion they've already formulated in their head to be validated. Like and and the story behind this was that um these we have two instances now chat.
Luckily, one of them isn't out yet and is going through changes and might actually be very cool by the time it comes out. Crimson Desert is the opposite where it it got a lot of feedback like they got feedback ahead of time and it didn't really amount to much change before the game came out. Um, so the game came out very much like make a hit or miss sort of situation. You're either going to love this or just hate Um, and yeah, it it launched that way and we were trying to like give them many people this isn't just me.
Uh, a lot of people are giving some some ahead of like, hey, so this like lacks cohesion. It sort of doesn't make any sense. Why am I doing all this kind of stuff? like what is happening like why are the controls feel like I'm using the controller upside down like all these things were once again echoed by the time it came out and it was almost like that is how we want to make our game shut up and then the funniest part is that this always happens that feedback is given ahead of time and by the time it actually has a detrimental impact on sales if not like monetary issue has now popped up then there's change because they've already announced patches for this [ __ ] they've already announced that there's probably going to be controller support in the game the thing is I'm always a big of of devs making the game they want to make, right?
The problem the problem is is just the industry is such a it's in such a bad place where you can't make a mistake. You know, hey, we made the game you wanted to make it didn't find an audience, but we'll get like, you know, we'll make a new game next time. We'll learn from this. We can't do that anymore. Nobody can make a mistake anymore. Game has to be immediately like amazing off the rip. And that's really frustrating because I do feel that not this game. I'm not even talking about this game particular. I'm talking about any game.
Any game, any dev could come out and be like, "Hey, here's this game. This is the game you wanted to make." I don't People don't drive with it. Don't like it. Dude, I can't wait to show you my favorite feature in this game. Fast forward. Wait. I know what you're talking about. Yeah. No spoilers. I've only seen things offhand of like streams and stuff like that. Um they just have they made a mistake. We'll we'll come back in stronger with the next time. And in defense of the other one where it was like after the the one session me and Kenny had of the first playable build of Tokon, which is now going to be the next biggest fighting game there is.
And we were super excited like, let's go in and play this [ __ ] Me and Kenny looked at each other after literally a 15-minute play session and we're like, kind of done. And I'm like, yeah, we're kind of done. Like I'll go I'll go see if I can find anybody else to play or something like that. I mean, it's only if I could find a dev. Like, we were sort of like bored. So, and that like I and I played more people to see how [ __ ] changes later on. Like, how does let me get people that know how to play this.
How does this change? Didn't change that much. And I was like, okay. Yep. So, I think this is the way the game is. And then once you report that, a lot of people are like, and I did this at EVO. I started talking about the the cool parts, my hopeful parts of where they could be different if we play more, but like the first impression was not particularly good. And it was I was telling people this. I'm like, I'm really hopeful that it's better if I play more. But for the limited period of time we had, it was like, yeah, I I don't know.
And then the betas happened and it was like, okay, so everybody everybody felt the exact same [ __ ] way I did. And then the feedback was was resounding enough within two betas where they're okay. Yes, it isn't just one random YouTuber that's saying this or me and a few others like me and Sejam have been pretty lined up that yeah, we just didn't really jive with the way the game played at all. Uh from an early standpoint, which game was this? Tokcon. Toon. Yeah, literally it was took I wanted to say to I didn't want to like be like raw.
I like the the narrative behind it was that it's not Marvel vs. Capcom. Max is bitter. So anything that's not Marvel vs. Capcom to him will suck. And it's like dude that's not the case. It's like it's not fun. Like there's there's things wrong with Yeah. You know, and it's and it's we get that when we play games like especially when we like cuz a lot of times during EVO, not E3 and all that stuff, we played MKX and we're like, "Oh, clicked immediately." Oh, that [ __ ] clicked immediately, dude. Like, and that you could tell in like the first, especially with a fighting game, like the first 15 minutes, we're like, "Oh, this is this is pretty fun, dude." avatar clicks in the first 15 minutes.
Yeah. You're like, "Holy shit." Oh, yeah. This game grabs you like damn. Like, god damn, this is like get moly. This is a [ __ ] fighting game, dude. Like, it just is the nature of it. Like, that honestly happened to me with Invincible, even in early builds where it's like, "Oh, I see the meta here is pretty interesting." Like, I don't think about this normally and everything. Like, this is sort of cool. Yeah, invincible is interesting in a way because the early build I was like, it it's good, but I feel like it's missing. it needs a little bit more of um KI mechanics of of sort of defense or like you know different different ways to like back off or what and they added it.
They added it and it was like like they literally added it and I was like okay yeah they put into the game. It's not personally speaking from the hands-on I've gone it's not as easy or obvious some of the defensive mechanics invincible pose to chaos. You have to figure them out. It's a little more Yeah. It's a little less obvious but there's more nuance to it but there they are there. Yeah. Which I was like, that's what it needed. And then then it got it. I was like, great. The point of the story behind this chat is that in Go.
Yeah. So then there was Injustice 2 and like oh that's cool. It was cool. It was fun. You liked it. But then there was MK11 immediately. And remember MK11 were like And to be honest, MK1 as well. Yeah. Like I was like, is this game really slow? And that was before they sped it up. They got sped up a bit like like MK MK1 had air combos, but they were the most like basic air combos. It was really slow and it was like [ __ ] dude. Street Fighter 6, Street Fighter 6 played in the first hour I played it played a lot like a really refined version of Street Fighter 5 because nobody was using green [ __ ] than Drive Impact those ways that we thought they would.
And then I started playing like devs and the game really opened up like the timing of perfect parries, the timing of Drive Impact. I'm like, "Oh, this [ __ ] is thought about like oh shit." without even knowing frame data. SF6 like I went back and I played so much of it because every time I played it, it was getting more interesting and more interesting and more interesting and it was like, oh [ __ ] okay, this is why in my head, you know what I do? Where's the dev? Where are the people that have been playing this stuff?
Cuz I if people are just smashing buttons against things, like I want to see where their thought process is of where their design goes. Like where does the design of this You're you're the designer. You're you have you made this [ __ ] So you know what you know how it's supposed to be played. Show me exactly. Show me that way you play it. Yeah. What am I what am I not doing that the game wants me to do? Um, I saw that $20 don't don $20. Oh, I'll say yes. Uh, address that. Thank you. The Nintendo is the one of the companies that does smaller scale games so they can do experimental stuff.
I'm not even saying but I'm not saying experimental stuff. I'm saying even a big budget game if it comes out and it's bunk and it's bad, they should be not they you should not shut down that studio. Yeah. Um, yeah. Nintendo can kind of get away with this because they do really small scale stuff and they do an experimental game and it flops. Well, we're just well, we don't get rid of the studio. I didn't we didn't lose a lot of money on this. That's one aspect. The other aspect is like say Sony Santa Monica comes out like with whatever their rumored spin-off game is or whatever, right?
And let's say it just doesn't hit. It's bad. You don't get rid of Sony Santa Monica. No. You know, because oh well, the next side project didn't hit. You wouldn't get rid of them, would you? You should not like let's just say not for any stupid reason but a real reason actual reason. Intergalactic comes out and it doesn't hit. You don't get rid of Naughty Dog entirely. You know if Naughty Dog if Intergalactic doesn't hit, you know, for real reasons. You know what's wild? It's like, you know, it's like Hollywood. Hollywood doesn't do that too much.
Like you get a couple of strikes, you know, like in Hollywood. Couple of not big hits. I mean, if anything, you should just be like, okay, maybe let's take a look at the project management, the design, you know, the director or the D designer. maybe have them take a step back or something or like all right so the vision here wasn't great but there was definitely a lot of talent went into producing something so yeah and and the the point of the conversation chat is that um pre-release impressions and like even impressions from reviewers uh if they're not like what I'm trying to say is even from like a high level even like bigger outlet foundations like I saw IGN gave this [ __ ] a six or something like that and it's like yeah I But I actually understand why they would do that.
Like that probably be where my score would line up because it is the antithesis of what I would want out of like a game like the way it does this [ __ ] But I can see how some other people parts of this game that are really good elevate the [ __ ] out of it, you know? Like like to me Kazison is way like he was used Kazan. It's like a completely average as [ __ ] souls like but it does one thing so well that I'm like [ __ ] dude like this [ __ ] is actually near game of the year for me.
So, it's like that that representation early on from from people like me or us isn't to sway your opinion. We're trying to get we're trying to get stuff out there about impressions of a game because I want it to do well. Like I want I I wanted Crimson Desert to come out and just be like universally a 9 out of 10 across the board because I saw stuff in those early trailers and [ __ ] him doing wrestling moves and the combat stuff like [ __ ] a this game looks insane. It looks not real. And it's like, yeah, I want that game to be [ __ ] real.
Like, I want I want I want to be I want to all my expectations to be met. And it's like, holy [ __ ] this thing's crazy. Yeah. But there were things in the way of that happening. And yeah, like it happened exactly as we thought it was going to happen by the time it came out. The reviews lined up exactly the way that we expected. It's the same thing for fighting games. Like an early game impressions, I was interested. Like I was I was there. And there are things in the way of actually making me jump the gap to be like fully invested.
Like I'm really looking forward to this [ __ ] now. And like it it happens in other ways too. Like Praa was a game that I historically gave no [ __ ] about and then suddenly played it like everybody else with the demo and was like, "Ah [ __ ] it's good. Ah [ __ ] it's interesting." Like you were you were I remember with your first hands on uh and you were kind of almost like I was disappointed in myself. You were like, "Oh, well, you also had this thing where it's like, oh, I really like it, but people are going to have a hard time believing me like it." Exactly.
cuz I'm a Capcom guy, so of course I like it now or whatever. I can't I can't just like it cuz it's a good game. Like, oh no, of course you like it cuz I do like this company. I I went four years hating that game. I went four years before it was out saying you shouldn't be excited about it. Like, it doesn't exist. It's probably not real. It's no way it's going to be any fun. Like, we can't. We banned the word Pragmata in the chat because I just didn't want to talk about it anymore.
Like, that game is never going to come out, right? So you play it and I'm like I I was almost disappointed in myself that I couldn't hold by my conviction. Ah [ __ ] it's good. Like I'm [ __ ] upset with myself that it's actually good. And was was I wrong with that? No. Everybody that plays the demo gets hooked. Everybody that plays it is like actually this is sort of cool. Like yeah, that's the way I felt. I was disappointed that it was cool. Yeah. And you're saying too you can love six out of 10. Like you love Assur's Wrath.
Like that's a six out of a 10 game. 100%. Assur Wrath. He's not he's not here. Six out of 10 critically. a nine out of 10 for me personally. Not here, but Steve is the captain of loving six out of 10 games. He's the captain. He's the He's the reigning champion. Number one champ. Crimson Desert is 100% a six or a seven out of 10 game to like many people. However, in some other aspects, maybe that don't line up with my my my viewpoint, dude. That open world sandbox [ __ ] damn it, six or seven, that open world sandbox [ __ ] is is so good that people people love this [ __ ] you know?
People like collecting every single goddamn [ __ ] coin off the ground. Hey, you know what? You you you saw it a little bit like it's it's in my own little corner of the of the of the video game sphere. You know, us JRPG people, we have a spin-off JRPG that's just open world and it's you can do everything, go everywhere. And there's a little bit of strife between the other side and this the side that just loves it. I love being creative characters. I love going into this giant open world. I love being able to explore explore every nook and cranny.
I love the open nature of it. Literally what this game is. And then the other side is like, "Yeah, but we like our focused narratives, you know, character-driven story things like your thing does, Nico. Yeah, I know I'm calling you out a little bit without even saying I just did." But like I get it with Crimson Desert like a little bit where where people were like, "Oh, this game lets you do everything. You can It's so big. It's so vast. You can There's so much stuff you can do. It's so amazing. And then some people are like, "Well, I feel directionless.
I feel aimless." It's like the new generation uh Dragon's Crown or Dragon Quest. Welcome back. Oh, yeah. In a way. Yeah. In a way. Go around. So, anyway, we're just going to I couldn't think of anything else for us to play tonight because Steve's eyeballs on the fritz. I hope he feels better. Um, we're just gonna turn on Crimson Desert. Kenny already has an idea of like he's gonna be our guide. Yeah. in any Kenny should hand over the controller like here tell me how this controls and we'll we'll run. Me and Simmons will touch it and run around.
We'll just give our general impressions. Are they likely going to be positive? Like maybe not really, but we're not going to try to be overtly like harsh on the game because it is resonating with some people in some way. I just want to see it running on a TV like this. I I'll just get rid of the elephant now before we even get into it. I I saw their response to to the AI and oh it's the exp it's the expedition 33. They're like oh it was it was placeholder uh you know we'll replace it in a past benefit of the doubt.
Uh and then the thing though that I think they they they kind of shot themselves a little bit on too was like we were using generative AI to to you know explore tone and atmosphere you know early on in production. I'm like it's Western European fantasy. What are you exploring? Like go to a museum go to a Renfair. Like what? Like we're going to explore tone and atmosphere in in a western European. Bro, this is wellestablished. I don't know. To me, that hit me like wow. Really? They're Eastern developers. They have no clue. What could fine?
No way. Like there's a billion games to to pull from. Like there's a billion movies. There's a billion comics. Like this game is unique. Go to a museum. This game is Simmons. This game is a completely unique thing that is not based on anything else. It doesn't do like any other game. Yeah. Korean. There's a part of the game where you go to like a sky place and solve puzzles. There is no other game like it. There's We're going to we're going to see that firsthand. Okay. No, I don't want to get on a horse.
If you need to use generative AI to to figure out tone and atmosphere, then frankly then then how much of an artist are you? I click this button and we're going to see if it crashes. Damn. We're going to find out. Here we go. How much in Western European anime have you seen? No, there's none. Okay. It doesn't exist. There's nothing to pull from completely. I mean, sure, but does it immediately support controller or do I have to uh It supports it. shove this up my ass. Yeah, a little bit of both. Okay, so this is Crimson Dessert Chat.
Uh I'm think the the dessert part shows up in about eight hours. What we're planning on doing is doing a 100% playthrough. Um every bug, every coin, every enemy, every step, we're going to chart the map 100%. Uh we're going to do it within one stream. Deep. So we're just going to We We We have chosen just to stay up the entire time. Yeah. We're just going to not sleep for a while. We've told our families already We've committed to this and uh yeah, every every blade of grass, every We're going to chop down every tree.
every tree. Pile those shades. It's completely normal. Like when we play a game like this, we have to play at 100%. Absolutely. 100% done this. No, no, no. We have no plans to speedrun. we're just saying we are going to do like there can't be that much stuff to do like that. Like how many bugs do you can you can collect? Pet every cat. Pick up every animal. All ripping a stubb. And we did try Stellar Blade. We straight up played it. We played it on stream, bro. Here's here. But do you don't you don't remember the first Stellar Blade stream we had when the game had like 11 [ __ ] frames of input delay.
It was insane. It It felt like complete [ __ ] to play. It felt like we were playing the game online and the game like eventually playing it online. We were playing it, you know, through like like in Korea. Yeah, it felt it felt like we were playing it through cloud share. Yeah, cloud share. It was [ __ ] nuts in the demo. And then by the time like like I was like this is really bad. And people are like you're insane. It's not bad. By the time the game comes out, they're like actually the input delay was [ __ ] horrible.
We we'll try to fix it. And within either around launch or right as launch came out, I don't know cuz I didn't buy it cuz it felt so bad to play. Uh they fixed it. So, it's a good thing that people like us were saying that [ __ ] because it felt bad. Like really bad. And yes, it was a demo. That's what you use to sell people on a game. Like, no, don't don't judge product from commercial. What? I I was like, the demo is meant to is meant to hook you. The one thing about it that got me was that like I'm sure like all the goonerisms is one thing and the souls likes is another thing.
It felt terrible to play. Like just terrible. Then that wasn't the case by the time it came out. But like whip blow, you know, I was already we were already like, I don't know if it's going to be good. There's other things to play, which is the immediate thing that got me to not play it other than the fact that it was like the most ultra chud game ever. And now that that's gone and nobody gives a [ __ ] about that anymore, I'm willing to play it. Like, and the input delay is gone. I'm like, "Yeah, I'm probably going to I'm probably going to play this [ __ ] and just skip all the [ __ ] cut scenes." Um, so chat, what should we do?
Upscale mode. We should do DLSS 4.5. And how how good is Dul in this? Is it Are we good on a 1080 resolution upscale or some [ __ ] like that? DLSS 4.5 is like 1080p. Correct me if I'm wrong. Uh we should keep it on like balanced or something like that. Turn on DLSS. Definitely it's fine on 4.5. Um 4.0 runs better than 4.5. 4.0 quality looks better. Okay. Okay. So, on a 4090, we can probably do 4.0 quality. We'll just check it out. We don't need We probably don't need frame gen, right? We don't need Ray.
We don't need Ray reconstruction. This is intense. Mhm. This is very intense, right? You don't do full screen or borderless. I don't We'll see which Let's try this because it might do its own natural VSync. Oh, and it's done. Okay, that's good. Doesn't freak everything out. Um, you need rake reconstruction. N dude. I [ __ ] I watch people play this [ __ ] with Ray Reconstruction and the game chugs. You don't want to like You telling me it's bad without Ray Reconstruction? Like I I watch people with 5090s and it chugs. Um Ray reconstruction is needed. The lighting sucks.
It eats FPS. Like it's for screenshot. It's awful. Awful. Best looking game of all time is awful without Ray Reconstruction. Luigi, thank you. Video game commercial. Commercial. That was easy. That was Gears of War. This I I saw a Sega Saturn commercial where it was like guys in like a NASA Armageddon style command center. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. And it was like Panza Dragons VI and all. Yeah, that sold me on that sold me on Saturday. Talk about that sold me on a Saturday instead of I was waiting for N64. That sold me on a Saturday.
The mad world. Oh, I saw that. I'm like, "Oh, all right. Here we go, chat. I'll turn it on without it. We'll turn it on later." Well, we're we're here to We're here to to putts around with this [ __ ] Well, we're literally here to to tinker and fits with this motherfer. Tinker and thinker, which is what we're going to do. Also, like um what was it? Actually, I like the Gears of War, too. Rendevous with Death, the poetry. I don't know if it's a commercial, but you remember when Nintendo Power would send out VHS's to people?
We got one for the N64. uh with Ken Lob. Um that one sold the N64 pretty hard. Trying to think of a commercial like I saw I'm really trying. Do you remember when PlayStation one used to always have like the really funny commercials and stuff? During the PS1 era. Yeah. Yeah. The Crash commercials and [ __ ] The Crash commercials were great. Any Crash would go out and sell you on other games. Okay. Crimson Dessert. It I didn't realize it just started. I'm trying to remember if there was a commercial I saw for a game I I didn't know about cuz my plugged in ass was always reading always reading game magazines at the at the supermarket.
I have questions already. Are you like in a video game in this game? Like thematically? You can you can spoil that for me, Kenny. Like is your character like in a video game? So I see the character interacting. He puts helmets on and he talks to characters and they literally have like CRT filters on them. Yeah. like visual CRT filters like Yeah. Like we're playing Animus in [ __ ] the Assassin's Creed. So I'm like, is that what this is? Is this like the Animus or some [ __ ] I don't even know what this is. Hard to tell.
This happened to you. Um I don't know. The loading screen. Loading shaders. I think it did that already. Nope, they were compiled. They weren't loaded. The animos first load is long. Okay, shader compiled. There we go. THERE WE GO. DUDE, we're being born. We're coming out of the birth canal. That's what it looked like. Oh, if if chromatic aberration is on, we'll turn it off. I can turn that. I hate that [ __ ] There's two things I hate in gaming. Chromatic aberration and motion blur. I am I'm a defender of motion blur. Depends on the type.
Um, very Wow, look at that [ __ ] Much better looking. You know what this reminds me of? Remember when you leave uh uh Avatar Pandora? You leave the stupid ass chamber and you're like, "Look at this beautiful place." This is with Ray Ray reconstruction off, right? This is like flat lighting or whatever. Normal lighting. Holy [ __ ] They weren't I Dude, I'm not even running. I want you to move the guy left, left, right, up, and down. I want you to see how long it Hi guys. Hi guys. Hello. See how long it takes for the character to respond when you turn around.
Like how long it takes for the input to register and the character to start moving. It's not Heavenly Sword, but it's not Heavenly Sword, but it's intense. Cursor's on screen. You're right. It is delayed. It is a little delayed. Hold on a second. It's about That was my bad. It's about like half a second, 3/4 of a second. Half a second of like you just want the character to respond to where you're you want to go. It's about half a second. Red Dead 2. Like Yes. Yeah. Red Dead 2. I hated the controls, dude. I hated shooting in Red Dead 2.
Dead zone. Huh. All right, Kenny, get us to the get us to the fun part. All right, Kenny, lean in. Lean in. We need to become one with the Crimson. Well, right now you can't really walk. You have to no run. Get us there as fast as possible. This is how the story works. You just read that. Head to cabin. I was just looking for you guys, chat. We Okay. [ __ ] black. It's the cabin made of Play-Doh. Those [ __ ] black bears. Keep it together. Is that what he said? Hey man, I agree man. Going to eat you.
I He was a good man and the black bear that did this. Oh, learn deserves a knife in his throat and you'll be I don't know about all this. I'm very much one of those people like I do not want bears to be hunted or or or anything. You don't you don't like bears in games at all? No, no. I'm just saying no. In real life, I'm like like polar bears, right? It's like, oh, like do you want to get rid of polar? No, I want polar bears to be left alone. Like I don't want people to live it and it is penguins.
All right. Like leave his last words. I don't know if you're ready. Here comes fast forward. May you find peace among these brothers. Wait a minute. By default, by default, you can cut scene skip. Yeah, we're skipping right now with fast Why is it like 1.25 speed on YouTube? So fast. Wait, where's But where's the skip? Hold on. None. Yeah, from what I understand, there's no cut scene skips in this game at all. But we're going crazy. Stop. Stop doing. We have to get We have to get the vibes. Well, you will be missed. It changes the music.
It's speeding it up. It literally 1.25 speeds the music. It changes the pitch of it. Yeah, that was cool. It doesn't pitch shift. It does look cool. But should we turn the ray ray ray ray ray? I don't see why. I'll head into town and see what I can find. I'm a little confused why the grass is so green on. Maybe we might need Ray Ray reconstruction. Ray Ray Max at all. I mean, we should try. Well, let's let's get to a daytime scene or they could me even if they tried. Okay, Kenny, let me see if I figure out what to do.
Okay, leave me to it. Speak with Marius. All right, we just found out some deep information from Marius. Ross. Marius. trust me. Got to speak with Ross. He wants He trusts me more. Yes, you guys can't see it. He He wants Speak with Ross. He wants to show you a Mario Maker level. All right, Ross. All right. I wonder which one's Ross. Uh, the one the one who's dressed for less. This won't be the end of things. I do find it funny how windy it is constantly in this game. And it for some reason isn't windy on the characters at all.
Our scouts. Yeah, that guy's cloak is like like none of the characters are reflecting the wind at all. Your head. Hello. He's going to make him mad. I'm almost certain we've been betrayed. How else would they know the exact moment we were away? Bastards. How dare they? Right. Okay. So that was Ross it. Okay. Uh speak with this guy. Enter the cabin. Come on. It's hecking windy, maiden. It's running pretty well. Like I'm I'm going to give the game credit. We started it up and there's no mega stutters or anything. Yeah. Yeah. Like it is it is just working.
There's no frame weird frame pacing or whatever. We're on a 4090, granted, but still better quality GPUs would not guarantee that games will run good, dude. Like that is not a guarantee anymore. This game wouldn't work on my 3090 at Get your ass back out there. I think it would. I think it'll at least run 1080p. No, we're just going to sit here sipping this this pig swell. I'd rather eat a black base, please. And somebody made that. Get some man's beating into you. You better [ __ ] pick that up or what? You [ __ ] You're going to make me fine.
That's enough. Forget it. Bloody bastard. Cranky ginger [ __ ] That's enough. This is not Americans. Our fight. No, this isn't American. This is ye old English. The Europeans. Everyone just shut the [ __ ] down. 39 is still pretty good. Dude, this orc guy is beautiful. Why is the orc guy prettier than the main dude? I want to play as him. Oh, I think it's like the gorgeous. [ __ ] crazy this game doesn't have a character creator. That was another thing we told them too where I was like, "Doesn't like Black Desert have like a really good character creator?" Like, "Yes, it does." And I'm LIKE, "WHY WOULDN'T THIS GAME FEELS LIKE A GAME where you would have a character creator?" and they're like, "We have a just very specific story for our main character that that we need him to uh be this way for for character portrayal and like dialogue and stuff." I was like, "Okay, so you have a big story." That was what they told us like that SGF.
Bloody battle unfolds between who fight to uphold his will. That was before they had other playable characters, which is like I think you can play as the orc man. Seek to set it to free. Gorac the gorgeous. So, black bear is is a tribe, not a not not a physical literal black bear. No, they killed all the bears. That's terrible. They're about to fight. Okay, I'm about to fight. I'll press RB to attack. Got it. What's dodge? Jumping. Wow. Okay. I'm going to stop uh doing stuff and just press the RB button. Is there a stamina gauge?
Yes. very small where uh I don't think it's showing up because this is them like the tutorial. this guy literally looks like a Gorlac. Yeah, it's Breath of the Wild to estimate. you all right? Look out. Get out of here. Watch your back. LB. Oh, that helped. Okay. I'm guessing this is block or lock on. It's a lock on. Okay. Why do I turn green? Okay. I guess that's not a block. It's only a lock on. Is that maybe like health recovery or something? Okay. I'm confused. Where's block is not a button that makes any sense.
That's heavy. Fire indeed. Hot, bro. I think I just don't have access to things. I think I they only want me to press this button and this button right now. Okay. LB is block. What? No, it's not. It looks like it's lock on cuz people are just smashing my face. I think it's down. carry is R1 plus clicking L3 or something insane like This is R1. R1. No, R1 is attack. LLB. Yeah, a guy just ran up and hit me. With that, let's try it. Let's try it. LB is block and lock on. Okay. Okay.
Block off. Lock on soft lock. The D-pad down is hard lock. Easy, will you? Fully sl get your fat fingers off me. Fat fingers. B. Oh, dude. I press I think I think it was locked out for me before that just happens. Yeah, it's like you don't do it until like the game teaches you how. I guess. Yeah. I'm sorry. And you can learn moves by observing them in the wild instead of using all the skill trees. I did that. I did that in the demo or the play through. They're like, "Yeah, you can you can do this observe thing or whatever." There we go.
This is working now. I'm learning. Yeah. Now there's your um stamina little Wow. Pressing B neutral does a back dash. Yeah. Uh yeah, you push it a bunch of times and it doesn't even really use your stamina. You can like second back You're right. You can like KBD against these [ __ ] Okay. Yeah, combat feels fine. Like I I honestly think combat feels better than just running around. Damn. What is going on? Why is everything strobing back there visually? You guys see that? Chromatic. Oh yeah, that's not chromatic aberration. Damn it. That's That's the upscaler, I think.
Is that the upscaler? Put on ray reconstruction. Let's do it. Ray, right. Let's do it. Um, hang on a second. Graphics. Uh, post-processing effect. Do you see it? Chromatic aberration. No, I don't see chromatic aberation. It's probably in some sort of post-processing or something. That's what I would assume. Yeah, I would think that. Shut up, Kenny. Kenny says whatever Kenny adds something at the end of something we say. Yeah, you're probably right. That's what I thought. Yeah, too. Where is it, chat? It says rate tracing is on, but not I guess not Ray reconstruction. Not rare reconstruction.
Um, there is no toggle for chroma aba. Damn it. Chroma. Um, okay. Hold on a second. Let's do it. Can we do it on the fly? We can. That's Gentlemen, TURN IT ON. OH [ __ ] OH. Oh no. Oh no. This is what it's like on a PlayStation um a base PlayStation. I mean, so yeah, it fixed the problem, but the game is like running at 30 now. Maybe try DLSS 4.5 instead of DLSS4. You need fake frames. no. We I don't want to do that. I don't want to do that. I just I don't frame gen the future.
I don't need I don't need uh 120 thiefs right now. We just want 60 for the sake of stream. Like we just want 60. So DLS is 4.5. Let's do like balanced. Fair and balanced. No. No. It's like at 40 now. Nope. Um performance. Performance. forum, [ __ ] Damn, it's a lot of money. It's saying 40. You can kind of see it right there. Uh, you're right. It's saying 50 now. And yeah, that looks like 50. But you know what? It got rid of all that weird like flakiness in the background. And this still looks really good.
It's obviously not like mega 4K anymore, but it looks really good. I I don't know if I can. 4.5 is heavier than four. So, you're saying chat, you're saying DLSS4 performance? Oh, let's do it. I was thinking that too, chat. 56. Literally thinking pretty close. Yeah, it ain't 60, but it's like it's very close. And you tell me you could see it up there. Do I have a uh do they let us show the features? Right there. It's at 50. [ __ ] Dude, this is mega expensive. Chat, you're back on full screen. I'm back on full screen.
I don't know why. But chat, you guys aren't seeing any funky [ __ ] are you? I think we're okay. Um, frame gen 2x, dude. Frame gen looks makes everybody's stream look like [ __ ] Like everybody's stream has the funkiest frame timing when you use frame gen. Like that's the problem. It'll look fine for us, but it makes it won't look smooth for you guys at all. That's my issue with frame gen. Everybody, if you have frame gen on, it looks good for you. Everybody else it looks bad cuz you're you're seeing a 60 fps stream. looks good for me.
Looks okay for you. This ultra performance. Okay, we're getting 60 now. Ultra performance. It looks fine. Looks fine. like I'll take it. Where are we going? Uh X marks the spot. Had to help somebody in the fight. All right, with the black bears. Is this technically upscaling from 720p? This is a 720p image. It's upscaling to 4K right now. I mean, it looks pretty good all things considered. RB put What the [ __ ] That is a combination of buttons I was never thinking I would press in a game. Oh my god, that feels terrible to press those two buttons at the same time.
Okay. Parrying feels good. Like attacking feels like I'm playing like a Batman Now then, pathetic. I expected better from the socalled protectors of Paloon. Bunch of [ __ ] throwing your lives away. Watch your words, mutton. There's that gravy spirit. Hey, maybe we should turn on the graphic settings a bit. I like it. Look around you. I'm the one who decides your fate. Grab him. I'll beat him. Look at you like a baby. I'm doing good. I saw that coming. I'm going to I'm going to change the story. Wow, I turned a different direction. to the brain.
Change the story. Play time's over. I don't like this guy shooting me with arrows. Excuse me. Was that not blocking? He failed. What? Can you beat him? Shut up, Kenny. Did you beat him? Literally, you could beat him. I was do literally doing it. Go back. He will not let you chat. Is it actually scripted or is he beatable? But he I his life bar was half down. that's what it was. You got to 50% and then What's that? But I I was literally working him and his dumb friends. Like they were getting worked. Did you though?
WHAT THE [ __ ] I LITERALLY KILLED ALL of the dumb shitterters and I was fighting the guy. But uh this happens. I need the story to happen. It always plays out this way. Oh, okay. I need the story to happen. So, this is not a a Demon Souls opening or a Dark Souls opening where you can like kill the bad guy actually and it changes [ __ ] G. Yeah, I'll be real. I think combat feels pretty good. I think the combination of these two buttons trashy. I wanted Simmons to feel the combat if there isn't I have done combat while just letting you know we won't feel combat for a while.
Really? Oh yeah. We're going to clean some chimneys and chase some chickens and we got to give somebody an enema. Yeah. Um we're going to have to, you know, you do all that stuff. Bake a pie. Yeah. It's my favorite part. Have to make It's my favorite part of the game. We won't be seeing combat for a while. Strap in, boys. Why? We're going to be doing chores. Literal chores. Cuz we have to be a good person. We have to be worthy of power. Yeah. To pick up cats and pet them. So the gods are like, "Damn, he's a nice guy." Give him crazy powers.
Let him [ __ ] up these guys. That beefy arm. We're here now. Quest completed. You're in heaven. So, here's a funny thing. What do you think run is? That's what sucks. What do you think running is in this game, Simmons? L1. That No, that would make sense. L2. That would also make sense. Keep going. Don't look. Don't look at the screen. Why? Maybe that would maybe be weird. But why is literally [ __ ] punching? Holy [ __ ] I can do I have a sword. However, even with the sword, I do physical punches no matter what. Wow. This is melee no matter what.
That's kind of insane. Keep going. Keep going. Is it like Grand Theft Auto where like you tap A or something? It is like Grand Theft Auto like you tap A. I never played a GTA. So, is that weird? It's It's weird when you play and you're like, "Oh, yeah. All the GTA do this." Oh, they do? I didn't know that. Oh, yeah. This is fun. Look. LB and then X to jump. Use precision jump. Yes. It's Okay. X. What do you think I'm pressing, Kenny? Hold it. No, it just worked that time. Oh, okay. You could traverse a lot of [ __ ] like So, wait.
No, no, no. It it it's just that I cannot jump this far. Yeah, you can't jump that far. But it doesn't give you any indication. Yeah. Oh, it's down there. It's over there. So, wait. You tell me I can like there. Gotcha. Why? I don't know. It's good though if you want to just get to places that So, how do you jump normally? That [ __ ] jumps really late. Dude, he's like, it's like a full second. It's like a full second. Yeah, jumping is weird. It's like one full second after you pressed it. 10 million pounds.
Uh, yeah, I get it. This is like a tutorial for Breath of the Wild [ __ ] Yeah, I get it. I get it. The beautiful water. That waterfall does need work. You You disrespected the waterfall. Oh, okay. I died. It's your turn. You disrespected the waterfall. All right. What's the talk that [ __ ] Uh, it's just like run up. Press X. Don't go chasing waterfalls cuz you'll get knocked out of the palace in the sky. Wait a minute, [ __ ] Go back. Wait. Wait. Go back to doing what you're doing. Crawl. Crawl under that. Stab RT. Why? I don't know.
Stab it literally. I like that prompt. So, I'm noticing like contextual prompts show up every once in a while over here. It happened with the jump. The context. Context. Cling. Yes. Press press in L. Yeah. Look at that. Look at It changed. Oh god. Context. It says like when you got to an edge it said everything changes over here. Shine the light. Blinding flash. Um, the parry was really generous. Like like I'm confident to go to even some of the craziest bandit camps or something like that and just [ __ ] [ __ ] up. I feel like I could even without like a lot of abilities.
They would just take a long time. Dude, holy [ __ ] There's a entire like strategy guide up at the top and it went away. Well, it's like you you you activate it and Oh, so okay. So, to do that, you press LB RB to activate, but you let go of LB to look around while you have to keep it down. And then when you want to focus on whatever you want to shine on, press LB again. Oh, yeah. And then he looks at that. So, that's normal, man. It's like activate, let go, hold it down, let it go, press Hey, Mortal Kombat's back.
Oh my god. Holy [ __ ] that water. You want to go? Water. Is it? It looks like the goop from Alien Lantern. Lantern. Love how mechanical this game is, dude. Everything has a mechanic. Oh, that's mechanical as if you love mechanical games. Yeah. This like literally like everything. Hold on to your dick. So, here's what I understand of it. It's like in other games that are very mechanical games like Tears of the Kingdom. Probably one of the most mechanical [ __ ] games out there. Like straight up like they they made all these wild crazy mechanics on everything at the benefit of what you know the story and narrative is in the game.
Yeah, Asen. I'll read that in a second. But there's like a reason, right? Like in in tears, there's a reason behind all the crazy [ __ ] you can do. Like they want you to engage with it in this way service of this. I don't know if any of the mechanical things in this game are in service of something other than just them just being mechanical. Yeah, absolutely. It's so weird. Wait, wait till you just have to do other things and it's just like why can't I just be this? Like you mean like chopping trees or some [ __ ] like that?
Yeah, just like you know like doing a certain task. It's like do this then this then that. I see. To do one simple thing that could have Yeah. It reminds me of an MMO. Well, yeah. Reminds me playing FF11. Like the same kind of [ __ ] It's like doing three things to do one thing when it just like this could have just been X. It's like hold LB to look then press X. What's happening? Oh, we have to change the visuals. This looks rough. Oh, this is looking like a 720p image upscaled. Damn. They're updating the game so everything's easier for people complaining about chores.
Yeah. All All the You mean all the mechanical chores? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Grey main for immersion. Greymane. Lost in thought again. Why don't we go inside? Dude, we I don't know what a flashback. Was it a flashback? Who knows? Are we in a flashback? No, you're not. Because you have the thing on your arm. Wait, no, you don't. I'm It's confusing. I'm I'm kind of confused on that. Here, hold on. Let me the settings. I'll follow you, man. I only just fished you out of the river. No, this this was in sequence. he apparently came out of the river.
Yeah, that's the river we threw that water right there. I'm telling you it is it is it is a it feels like a freetoplay like what wins of where wins me. Where wins me. Yeah. I'm joing this off chat. We're going to see then we're going to go back to quilt quality. Quatti. Quitality. Let's see if this looks any better or any different. Well, but we didn't put Ray Ray on. Dude, it looks the same, bro. But the but the Ray Ray reconstruction is hyper important. It looks way better now, I'd say. Wait, we got to look at that waterfall with Ray Ray on the Ray Ray.
Doesn't that like make a huge difference? Nope. I'm not I'm not listening to this [ __ ] at all. I'm going Can I catch a duck? Can I literally like You probably catch one. A [ __ ] Sneaking up on ducks is going to be tough. Look, look. Catch it. Can I make a better game? Every fly. I can make a better game as long as your mom's, you know, there to help me along, you know, with all the uh That's true. If if your mom was there helping and like encouraging and providing like support support and or sexy time.
Mhm. One of the two. Am I about to drown? Oh [ __ ] Uh if your mom was there providing oral I mean moral support. Oral support. Oral oral support. Uh, why does X not pick it up? Hold it. It's so annoying. So, we have a new mechanic. Your hair is wet. My hair is wet. We have a mechanic. All right. LB. It's hold everything. L place. What am I? Place it or throw it. throw. So I can like drop it or you throw it. [ __ ] this [ __ ] We literally got a new mechanic already for fishing. So does that like Can I catch a duck with it?
Where's it going? Is it just floating at the bottom of the river? Hey, man. It's a fish trap. It's It's not a duck trap. Look at these [ __ ] flies. Catch a fly. I don't want to catch any more flies. My fish trap. Can you go underwater? I don't. Oh, look it. It's a chicken. Are those wild chickens? [ __ ] up. You [ __ ] chicken. Get X. Hold it. I'M HOLDING IT. WHAT DO YOU THINK I'M DOING? [ __ ] chicken. [ __ ] chicken. Oh, he grabbed this [ __ ] like this guy was a police officer. Well, he's eating tonight. Uh, so what can I do with this chicken?
Can I engage the chicken miniame? Can I make it produce the egg? Can I climb with the chicken? Hold up. [ __ ] that guy I was talking to a second ago. Could you imagine this guy's just looking back at me? His quest failed. You got too far away. Oh, [ __ ] him. Can I climb with the chicken? A [ __ ] Hey, go in there. Wait. Yeah. Is that the chicken sound? Why is there so many flies in this world? [ __ ] flies. It's [ __ ] flies. Wow. This is actually kind of neat. Look at this area. Chad, is this the stuff that you like about this game?
Because I kind of get it. That is Yep. very bright in the pot. A weird place to keep a bunch of books in a dank dank wet cave. Turn this over. I can't. What the [ __ ] You have engaged with the rock. I've engaged the rock mechanics. I'm carrying this chicken with me everywhere. This is uh Zerg Tan's layer. Uh what am I doing? Zergan the wise. You can read some of his school. Holy [ __ ] I'm just trying to get down. Right. Uh, can you pick those up? Uh, Zang. Zaran bombs. The chicken's just chilling like I uh Thanks, chicken.
I just picked up a candle. Hey, who the [ __ ] do you think you are, chicken? Why are you trying to leave me? What? Chill, dude. I feel like we're playing an Elder Scrolls game. Yep. Gotcha. Damn. Like a linebacker. Thought he was going to get away from me. Okay. There wasn't much in there. Stop resisting, chicken. Now, uh, take the chicken and jump off the cliff with it. Oh, good idea. Engage the Zelda mechanic. Let's watch. But jump and then jump again with the chicken. So jump and then jump again. Oh, you didn't do it.
What do you mean I didn't do it? Jump and then hold. It looks good, right? I don't see chat. What the hell does Ray reconstruction do? Reconstructs the race. Thank you, Kenny. You didn't do it either. I'm trying to fly. Yeah, with the chicken. You can't fly. Water chicken. Now doesn't have double jump yet. Uh, you can get it. There's dive kicks in here, too. You can get a dive kick. Oh, you don't have it yet. You have the chicken to You know what's weird, Simmons? I kind of like it. Here's what's weird. Doing all this dumb That's what's funny.
Reminds me of when we played Oblivion. Exactly. Like we had fun. Like we legit had fun. Do I want to invest my life into this [ __ ] No. But us like [ __ ] around with these chickens and just going to places and doing weird [ __ ] like I kind of don't hate that. Emerging. Oh, knowledge acquired. I'm learning. Gain thought again. Oh, you're skipping. Oh, what the hell? Oh, we're going back. You [ __ ] it up. So, we went back. Is that a huge dog? You won't fully heal without proper rest. Trust with the dog. Plus five. Well, I have to show the chat this.
We engage the trust system with the dog. It's gone. Oh, there it is. We the trust system with the dog. If we do this enough, the dog will come show up and help us in boss fights. Nice. Yeah, this looks good. Like, there's no Why are we doing Ray reconstruction, dude? This looks good. It's time I moved on. Are you really sure you're well enough? You can stay as long as you like. I'm fine. Really? How is he even able to talk? I think you should stay a bit longer. Chicken. I'll be going now. Very well.
If you're heading into town, you should stop by the Hernand Tavern. Why? News travels fast around here. So, if there's any information to be found, you'll find it there. You've got an honor of free sword. I I'll take care of this. Look, I already paid you. We're here for the interest. What interest? I Hey, kid. Come here, kid. He's He's 45 years old. Oh, Jesus. is telling. We'll beat the interest out of you or make him max you up. I'll just go slow. Choice. What you got? Look at this guy just watching all this [ __ ] happen.
I I'll just let him hit him a few more times. TODAY WILL BE YOUR last chat. I hope I hope too far for combat. Yeah. Whoa. How? Kenny's engaging with [ __ ] Kenny, what is the grab button? Uh, like literally a street butter grab. Shut the [ __ ] up. Y it it it's it's literally a Tekken grab. What the It's 24. Two four. Beat the sh I actually kind of love it that you don't need the sword. You can just beat the [ __ ] out of a guy. There's it. All right. I'm going to See, I'm fine. Thank you.
It's not the first time those bast Dude, you got some got some red on you. Yeah, you got some jelly. You got some red on you. Sorry, I ate a jelly donut just now. Chad, I hope what's happening as a result of this is we are selling people on this game. I actually hope so. I just hate to thanks to you. I do like, you know, that was really cool like environment destruction and all the environmental [ __ ] happens. Like there's there's a lot of tangibility of the the world around you with like like especially combat.
I love that [ __ ] On foot, it won't take long to reach Hernand, but if you want to get to town quick, grab the [ __ ] chicken. Hold on. Why? Oh, well, there's no there's no contact thing, but I recently came across this wild horse. Dude, you know what I almost think would be kind of like bold and interesting if they took this from like a game design standpoint? What if you literally walked in on like that opening sequence and it didn't set up like a presscripted fight scene or anything like that? What if it was just like go like Zelda like like OG like even elen ring to a certain degree.
They're just like goits. All right. So I'm just gonna start running around I almost think that'd be more interesting than doing all this handholdy [ __ ] of like handholding. Get ready. Like they they could they could literally make it where it's like okay you can go but eventually you're going to like like the Elden Ring does this. There's six places to go, right? But eventually it siphons you. No matter what, you're going to the castle. Like, usually you're gonna go to the castle and then they teach you mechanics, right? Imagine they could have just said go.
This is pretty. They could have said go and then it could have siphoned you to a part where you had to climb and it teaches you how to climb and then it teaches you how to do this. Like you get the basic mechanics within like the first 15 minutes technically, but without without it being so like you died and you just show up in heaven. There's a lot of video games now that feel like they really need to like walk you through. Yeah. Like you're you're so dumb. You will never figure this out. Which is is a little annoying cuz a lot of games do this thing where like they have this big cinematic fight opening.
Some cool stuff's happening. Got to get you got to get you on board. Now, let us spend the next hour slowly walking you through like a village or a town. Yeah. Getting you used to everything. This is how you This is how you walk. This how you A lot of games do this. Like like And here's the thing. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. Elden Ring sold like 88 billion copies. What? It's a weirdly obtuse [ __ ] game with no direct narrative, with no direct story, with no direct place of where to go.
And guess what? It's the modernday Legend of Zelda NES. People loved it. People [ __ ] they went on adventures. Like, did they actually was everybody's adventure in Elden Ring unique? A lot easier. Not really. Like, the game has hidden game design, which is what I love about it. Like most people's experiences in Elden Ring, 95% of people did the exact same [ __ ] in the entire [ __ ] game, dude. I think it's the tugof-war between having an open-ended openw world game and having games be movies. Yes. Exactly. Where it's like, oh, we we want you to live like you're like you're you're living Lord of the Rings.
You're living Game of Thrones. You're Oh, okay. I was like, what? I thought it was a graphics glitch. Um, yeah, I think it would be like almost more interesting if it was treated that way or like we don't need to like like have you specifically bound to like a chapter or story thing. I'm still kind of bewildered why they why time set set character was needed for Cliff or whatever his name is here. Oh yeah, especially like a creative character. That is I'm still bewildered why there isn't a create why why they didn't have a creative character.
Can you pick up a huge dog? Is there a reason why you can't pick up dogs then you can only pet like can you can pick up cats? Why can't you pick up a dog? You have to You should be able to pick up a huge dog. Yeah, [ __ ] it. We ball kind of games. Yeah, that's what I mean is that like I'm kind of down for that where it's just like like the game will hidden like hidden show you mechanics. like it will it will it will show you how to do things but it will hide it.
You can grab the ass. That is a tiny donkey. Good day. Follow the lead of another and you lose your way. Follow your heart and you walk alone. So, how open world is this? Like, can you pick a fight and kill everybody here? Uh, I think you can pick a fight and they'll try to kill you. Like, right. Could we literally kill everybody in this camp? You cannot kill people in the camp. We can't. Well, you can punch them, but they won't die. You need a mask. Like, yeah. Like, go go go here. Like, let me let's just really [ __ ] with this.
What the [ __ ] are you doing, dude? What the [ __ ] He's suddenly playing. Like, what the [ __ ] So, he's also not hitting that. So, yeah. Okay. So, not People are saying you can, but you need like it needs to be later in the game or some [ __ ] You need a mask to commit crime. So, you need like a crime mask. Fascinating. Crime mask. Stop. I'll handle this. Do you have any idea what's past this game? So they don't Okay, so they pretty much don't want you to [ __ ] with things too early cuz you can mess with the game.
I can't stroll in there like this. Keep an eye on that. Yeah, it wants to like we want you to be cinematically like introduced to the world in first person. all right. Inventory the uh What are you doing? Is this what we need to do? Yeah, I see menus like that. I'm just like I'm like I'm out of here. Yeah, that menu was not intriguing. Can you press start again? This looks [ __ ] great. Holy [ __ ] This looks Does this look better than PlayStation, Kenny? Oh, yeah. By country mile. Okay. It's got It's got spec into stamina and and it's got like a sushima/god of war skill God damn.
You could closeline people. Body slam. That's really fun. This [ __ ] wrestling [ __ ] Yeah. Look at Look at Zangie. Watch this, dude. It's so And they did tell me because they knew who I was. There was like there they said there was a lot of fighting game inspiration in the move set. It's definitely inspired by fighting games. And I'm like, I can see that. But a good action game isn't defined by how cool your moves are. It's actually how interesting the enemies are. We can't see it. Did you put us? Yeah, you put us Oh, god damn it, chat.
You put us You put us right over literally covering it. Where is the Oh. Oh, no. You come in here. Like a good action game. And we we found this out in So, you go here and then there's more. Sweep the leg. Scissor take down. Punching. What is that? Flying kick. What? kind of [ __ ] sick. Like, yeah, kind of [ __ ] sick, dude. Watch this one. They literally He literally gave this [ __ ] a Tifa dive kick. All right, so you know what? I'm going to give him credit. Uh, the skill tree, everything looks mad fun. Look at this [ __ ] does look mad fun.
Oh, hell yeah. I got to give him credit there. This This feels inspired as [ __ ] over here. Boom. So, wait a minute. We're looking at what? Like general skills. Where where does like cool sword skills and [ __ ] like that? Uh, sword skills are armed combat. Yeah, armed combat from here. Wait a minute. You're going inside a menu from in a menu? It's like a pun or something. So, these are like shield charging. It's literally Captain America. Then you can That's neat. Evasive slash. LB plus LT. That is a choice. They're not far in. No, this is end Yeah.
We're doing the thing. We're playing it like Breath of the Wild. We're just going to go straight to the final boss. We're just going to go to the big the big bad castle. Johan, thank you. I will always give Breath of the Wild credit, chat. I didn't end up vibing with the game very much, but Jesus Christ, dude. That six-hour experience I had of just going to the final area of the game with a twig in my hand and like a random plank of wood was kind of magical. Like, that was an adventure, dude. And found found my way to the final boss, the second phase of the final boss of the game.
And I didn't even know what fairies did to revive me. And it was like I legit loved that. Like that that was truly cool. You get a scorpion. That was really cool. Come here. Mix that with grappling. Okay. Yeah. Again, every single thing I'm seeing in here looks neat. Every single thing. There's so much. Yeah. Subzero. Oh, you can become smoke. Oh, what? Oh, you have like uh Breath of the Wild virtua hand. Falling palm. You can like fall out of the sky and like slam the ground. you. Oh, now just get ready. Yeah, there's the fly.
where's the other one? There's another thing here, bro. This move set's insane. All right, we're gonna have to get out of this menu. All right. All right. All right. Uh, yeah. Double jump. Oh, look at this. You're Spider-Man. Crazy [ __ ] dude. You're Spider-Man. Like, this is the [ __ ] that I saw a year ago, and I was like, "This is [ __ ] insane. This game is doing literally everything. man. Boy howdy. All this looks really cool. I hope nothing gets in the way of us making all this [ __ ] really, really cool and doing it." Wow. The game just hours.
hours and hours every time. Don't worry, here comes the most exciting part of the game. he's being a crazy person. Kit. Oops. What are you doing with this lantern, my dude? What are you doing? Why Why are you pulling out a lantern? I don't know. That's how he looks at things. Climb it. It's telling me it's hot right now or That's why it's the best game. Look at this thing. You ever seen anything so pathetic? Toss a coin to your W. Hey. Whoa. How's this looking on your end, chat? Is this looking like the best Crimson Desert stream you've ever seen qualitywise?
So go to tra t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t arm wrestling. I have to look. Do you have a moment? Yeah. What's the context of this? They didn't really give you anything like just for info. Things just happen. I want to challenge him. I have to do LB, then do A. I have to do two things to do the things that I want to do. You talk to him? No, I can't. And I have to hit hold LB. Wait, why are you arm wrestling this guy?
Cuz it told me to. The game told me to. because it's the story. This is main quest. Okay, so this is what happened to me. Like I I'll say it like when I was playing and they were like, "Here's the main quest of what you have to do." It was the most inane remedial horseshit. Like I'm John Desert, [ __ ] Like I'm really important. I should be doing really important Just wait. Like and that I got that impression even from like a year ago demo. I was like, why am I doing the most inane horseshit? Like this should be side quest and like no apparently this is main story.
I was like this is main story and it gets even better. Well, you really have to actually mash best uh nine out of 10. A thing or two. Glazes. You're as strong as you look. I just did my best. You should be proud of your own strength. You're pretty strong, too, dude. I love this. This guy is so cool. I think he's the best main character. So, you actually don't have dialogue trees. I always said true strength lies in humility. There's no actual relationships with characters. Was that Is that Elder Scrolls game? You guys are going to [ __ ] Yeah, there's definitely dialogue trees in Elder Scrolls.
Thanks for the compliment. They're still complimenting each other. they're going to start kissing, bro. It's the whole game is like that. Let's just start kissing. Fine day. So now look, what do I have to do? Go to the quest. Give a coin to the old beggar. Why? Where did I learn that from? Where does it come from? Give a coin. You just have to engage. They're just making you do [ __ ] They're just making you do [ __ ] Yeah, it's MMO style. It's made by MMO dev. Folks like you. My stomach. Again, as empty as we played a game like this was called Final Fantasy 16.
I I have to give this I Okay, I can't come up to here and give him again. Here's what I have to do. 10 hours. Now give coin. You like enter mechanical mode. Yes. Yeah. Okay. It's what I go through. Weird. I've got used to the indifference. There's nothing. It feels like that. Do you ever try Two Worlds? Oh, I've seen it. Like I played it on Xbox 360. [ __ ] weird game. two worlds. Yeah, but it was like it was kind of like this. Like you would go around and just do weirdest [ __ ] and but it was it would all like hodge podge together.
Paves the path to wisdom. Well, you you'll find what you're supposed to do. The key shall guide you. There's something. We're going crazy fast. Oh, that guy disappeared like he was a magical pixel fairy. So, he's he's a part of like some pre predetermined wooden key. Enter sewer. Why? I don't know, but it just told me to. He was sitting on it. he didn't he didn't say go in the sewer and find something, you know. He just The game just tells you. It was a magical hobo. Going in the sewer. This is a video Investigate the sewer.
Why? Cuz I have to become one with the sewer. Catch a rat. There's a thousand lit candles in here for some reason. Chat, are we getting super silky smooth 60? SS. Yeah, butter. Thank you. Makes me feel Too far, Kenny. This is dumb. I'm sorry. The precision jump mechanic. It's very Why? Why not just jump? Precision. Oh, okay. I should go up to her and hit a button, right? Please help me. Hit button, then another button. Who are you? You have to help me quickly. How do I How was I supposed to know to go in the sewer?
Calm yourself. Other than it just telling you. Then other than it just telling me. but this is main quest. You are. Why is there a princess in a sewer? Like right underneath? I I don't know. That's weird. Can you walk? He was right about you. Oh, this is all a test. Yeah, cuz the pixel fairy hobo. Yeah, but the pixel hobo the magical complimenting ta t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t bro. Everything is set up here by like God or Like God is testing you.
Like Jesus Christ is about to show up and he's like, "Good [ __ ] my brother." Dead chick invited you to Smash. John Desert for Smash. He literally got his Smash invitation. Jesus Christ shows up and he's like, "You've passed the test, my brother." And then he high-fives you and he gives you like uh uh the giant sword to kill people. So now it's speak with the child. What child? The the the the Mary Magdalene. Yeah. So the next thing I have to do is speak. I'm like, "Yeah, you're trying to get on God's side." Yeah. Is there a way?
Yeah. Now Now I need to test you. You're good with chicks. You're good with the homeless. You're good with tavern tabards. And you're you're you're good with children. You are primo man. You're ultimate John Desert. You are deserving of ultimate power. There's something I could learn. You're good with pets. Good with dogs and cats and [ __ ] I think I get it. Very good. Yeah. Well, the letter probably gives you a context for why you would speak with the kid. Maybe. I'm just going to throw that out there. bad with change. I can't even read the letter.
What do you mean you can't read the letter? Press start. Read the letter. A letter from a mysterious woman sealed by mystical power. No, we we are sent here on a god quest. There you go. Oh, you can't open it. You can't open it. So, I just have to speak to a child now. What child is it? This child? No, it's the child on the X. You know, like right there. It's just like this game holds your hand and [ __ ] drags you. Very. Oh, yeah. Here we go. The story part feels like super linear. I wonder if the rest of the story is like this.
I think it feels like what those those devs said recently or exdevs like he was tacked on. Oh, yeah. Well, you tell you can tell. Well, here we go, guys. We've got to get back. Let's go. Let's go. Ludicrous speed. The chief's going to be really upset. How can I Can you help me get GG? Can we get back to fighting things? 10 out of 10. Grabbing chickens and [ __ ] Grabbing cats. Got a lot more to do. Best in the series. M. I was having fun grabbing chickens and doing weird [ __ ] and finding traps. Chicken [ __ ] traps.
What the hell? Kenny, you enter first person mode. Kenny, what? You climb. You were climbing. You climb. Jump. X. Get the [ __ ] cat. Cats out of the bag. On to the next. Yeah, now it's teaching you you're good with pets. And I just don't This is a mystical god child. This is a child put here by God. All right. This is way too long. His name is Gigi. I'm done. Yeah. You say this. It's literally named Gigi. I'm done. Your help today. I think you'd love it. My name's Kiki. Well, don't worry. I'll talk to the chief about that.
Make sure you come visit. Let's get an IMAX release. I was about to say it's promoting the IMAX release. I'm a little annoyed by that. My film's turning 40 this year. Why are we going to Kiki? That is true. Where's my 40th IMAX screen? There's just not enough uh cultural impact from uh I have to help. It just didn't inspire anything really. They did in Japan. I have to help distress villagers. This is main quest 40 years ago. 1986 summer the greatest movie of all time came out and I showed it to you. I showed it to you.
We We watched that [ __ ] with no subtitles, I think, on or really funky subtitles. That was English on this. All right. It was It was No, no, no. The first time I saw it was about to we watched Up. And then we went to to Mike's place after Up cuz I hadn't seen it. You're like, "How have you not seen that one, [ __ ] That would be your You would love Yeah, I I introduced you to that match." Like, Simmons, you would love this [ __ ] The game's about to start cooking. I I think it was like It was very early on that like within the first 15 minutes, Simmons was like, "I think this is the best movie I'VE EVER SEEN.
WHAT WAS THAT? Fast forwarded or did he really roll that fast? Roll that fast. Roll. Let me play this part. Chat's saying, "Let me play this part." Oh, dude. I'm engaging. Stop winging. Get up, you idiot. Can't even…
