Like Pulse was really challenging because that was dealing with a lot of data, but that was like just I mean the biggest challenge with that was making it work with like regular transactional databases like Postgress and MySQL, but it only had to deal with like a single tenant sort of situation. Nightwatch was we want to collect way more information, have it all linked together and collect it for every app where like every request into their app is like you know potentially 20 to 100 events coming into ours. So the whole ingest flow and quering all that data became the I cannot believe I'm running an interview on a taxi like crazy. go like people are saying the following. Jess, did do did you wrote a driver for Click House? Uh, no, I didn't write a driver for Click House. There was a there's a really good PHP SDK and then someone wrote a Laravel wrapper for it that kind of pieces together a few things so that you can kind of have migrations and all that sort of stuff. There is like an elephant driver for it, but element doesn't to me make a huge amount of sense at least for the way we use click house because we don't to deal with like one row at a time where you where we kind of use it. So we just use the we use the query builder though. The driver lets us um use our query builder, but it doesn't have like um has like hundreds of functions to do all sorts of different aggregations that aren't a standard SQL. So often our like select statements are raw. Um but we still use the query builder to do the froms and the wares and the joints and groups and all that sort of stuff. And the query builder is still really handy because of like the parameter escaping stuff to make that all safe and also just for adding like conditionally adding stuff to SQL if you try and do it all with just like string automation that's a nightmare. Um, so yeah, we've just used that. I would there's things about it that I would like to improve and people have asked for like a first party click house driver, but the truth is the existing one has been like good enough. It's and has been excellent really. And while I could spend the time making my dream one, there's more important things I'd rather work on, right? Maybe I should just get like experiment getting Claude to spin one up and I can kind of guide it to what I think the ideal implementation would be. So yeah, maybe AI changes the game. Nerd talks for the for real. What I want to do is see if I can get AI to fix make prompts work properly on native Windows. like at the moment it only works in like WSL but the main problem is a problem with PHP on Windows so it's not really like a user land fix use AI to send a PR PHP well there is support using um what's it called FFI the where you can kind of write like user learn um extensions for PHP for Windows because the the console API Like I've looked in the docs on Microsoft and they expose the things we need but PHP doesn't expose them like we can't call it via PHP. So like all the pieces are there they just can't all quite talk to each other saying that because if we can do that then prompts could become um you know potentially the default in things like composer and all that sort of stuff and right They even had I think some interest from the Symphony team um in getting prompts to work but the problem is at the moment is we use Symphony's console as a fallback on um so yeah Symphony can't use prompts at the moment because do you have any level dependency on prompts like any illuminate component or something? Uh I don't think there's any hard dependencies anymore. it um like some of the prompts methods you can pass like collections to but it was written in such a way that it didn't need to depend on collections. Yeah, cuz it was originally like that. But then we had this circular dependency where prompts depended on, you know, eliminate collections, but because the framework depends on prompts, there was this whole weird circular stuff. And it gets even more complicated because in the framework, the like illuminate packages are like virtual is not the right word. I don't know what the correct term is, but um you know how like the they're all it's one code repo, but it's kind of split out as separate um packages. So yeah, it got confusing. So we ended up removing all dependencies. I think Drece actually helped do most of that. Remove all the dependencies. Um so it's and the really cool thing with prompts is it works without Laravel at all. So um I know like the Drush CLI tool for Drupal, they use prompts now. Um need any any larable stuff. So, pint is also um dependencies free basically. Thank god I did that because if I hadn't probably now would just be a bunch of problems. Yeah, definitely. And I really like like that was one of my I'd call it like a soft goal like there was no mandate to make it work for PHP in general but I really wanted it to kind of become the default prompts library for PHP in general not just Laravel. Have you seen adopted by like non whatever tooling or whatever? There was the Drush um tool. They used it, Yeah. Other ones have used it. Um I'm trying to think of some of the other ones. There's ones that are like more Laravel related where they used it pretty heavily.
