Summary
Dan Clancy hosts the premiere episode of Let’s Chat with Cam Scataboo (aka Scatpat), a dual-career athlete and Twitch creator. The conversation threads Cam’s rise from a Sacramento State underdog to ASU, his ACL-like setback, and how streaming became a lifeline during injury layups. Cam describes starting on Twitch during college and growing as his NFL career expanded, with highlights about three weekly streams, a close-knit viewer base, and mods who became friends in real life. They discuss the evolving role of athletes on Twitch, the importance of community, and Cam’s philosophy of keeping streaming fun regardless of viewer count. The chat touches on collaborations with creators like Jinxy Sketch and Rogue, and Cam’s openness to IRL and cross-games content as he grows his brand. He also riffs on favorite games, a love for competitive play, and his plan to expand into more varied streams with a practical, gear-light approach. The episode closes with Cam’s priorities for next season, the idea of Picklemania as a Wrestlemania-meets-pickleball gimmick, and a tease about hitting milestones like 10,000 subs with a memorable giveaway.
Key Takeaways
- Cam’s NFL journey is framed around perseverance: from one college offer at Sacramento State to becoming a starter at ASU and an NFL running back, driven by a mindset of grinding and staying put when opportunities looked scarce.
- Streaming emerged as Cam’s channel to stay connected with fans during long injuries, starting in college and evolving as his NFL profile grew, with a rhythm of roughly three streams per week when schedules allow.
- Community and generosity drive Cam’s Twitch approach: he runs giveaways (jerseys, signed cards) for consistent supporters and treats subs as a way to give back to fans who show up daily.
- Collaborations matter: Cam highlights early collabs with Juice and more recent work with Jinxy Sketch, noting the playful, competitive energy that comes from cross-genre streams.
- Ambitions extend beyond football: Cam envisions IRL streams and varied content, emphasizing a low-gear approach initially and leveraging phone-based setups to keep true-to-self streaming accessible.
- Fan relationships aren’t just numbers: Cam values the real friendships formed with moderators and viewers who become in-person friends, underscoring Twitch as a social glue akin to team bonding.
- A playful teaser hints at future event concepts like Picklemania (pickleball meets Wrestlemania) to leverage Cam’s entertainer persona in a memorable, community-driven event.

Hello and welcome to the first episode of Let's Chat. Let's Chat is a live podcast where I will talk with creators about live streaming and the ways that streamers and their communities shape culture yesterday, today, and in the tomorrow, and in the future. Um, I'm Dan Clancy. I'm the CEO of Twitch. I'm excited to speak with our very first guest, Cam Scataboo. He's an NFL running back. I'm sure you've heard of him. He's also known as Twitch streamer Scatpat. Cam, welcome. Thank you. Thanks for having me. All right. Thanks for being here. So, we're going to talk about streaming soon, but I actually want to go back and we'll start a little bit just talking about football and your football career.
And so, just talk a little bit about your college career and being an underdog because I know that's one thing that has been a big part of you. And talk about how that shaped you. Yeah. So, [clears throat] coming out of high school, I played at a small high school um in Sacramento, California, and uh didn't get a ton of looks. You know, the football is not the best out there, but it, you know, it's you get some eyes on you. Um and nobody ever really pulled the trigger except, you know, Troy Taylor at SAK State, and you know, he took a chance on me and that was something that I had one offer coming out of high school.
So, um that that starts the underdog story. you know, I I had a really good high school career and then going to college and have one offer. It kind of, you know, it boils in you. And then going through my years at SAK State, you know, I always knew I was the best on the field, but I never, you know, really understood what I was capable of um until after my sophomore year. you know, my coach took a different job and my opportunity to go at a higher level to end up at Arizona State, you know, and being there, you know, there was a kid coming in that um had played for one of the coaches in the past in high school and, you know, it was kind of a who's going to get it, you know, and I just put my foot down, grinded, got into the opportunity to be the starter at some point.
And, you know, my first year I was rotating, we weren't very good, three and nine. Um, and it was kind of like a is this for me kind of thing. Um, and I had I had a decent year, but we weren't a very good team. And then, you know, I me and coach Dillingham had a talk about, you know, what what's the plan and I was like, I'm not going nowhere. I'm here to stay. Um, I'm excited to, you know, see what this next year has for us. And, um, just knowing going into the, you know, going into my senior year, it was it was an up and down flow.
You know, you didn't know if you're going to be good, but you knew you had a lot of good guys on the team. Was the Was the guy that you were neck and neck with still there that year too or did he graduate? Yeah, he was there both years with me. Yeah. So, we we rotated in. Um I kind of took over just you know I I hate coming off the field. That's one thing I hate is just coming off the field and sitting on the sidelines like my worst my worst night model of energy boiling 100%.
So, um, you know, after my senior year, I was still kind of underrecruited and and still like not I'm I'm being told I'm going to go in the third round, possibly the fourth. And, um, in my head, I'm a first round, second round guy, you know, and, um, not a lot of people seen that, but, you know, we are here. We're here where we are now. And, uh, I'm just blessed to be in this position. So, uh, Chad asked, "Do you have a favorite memory from Sacramento State? like a a single game or a single memory that Yeah, I think I think uh my first game of my sophomore year uh when I took the onside kickback, you know, this Utah Tech was kind of they weren't a very good team and we were beating up on them and then they were trying to score with their starters against our backups late in the game.
Um and when you have an onside hands team, you don't take out the starters. You get the ball back, you know. And uh I looked at my coach and I said, "Look, I'm taking this to the house if they kick it to me." And they made the mistake of kicking it to me and I was like And you just punched right through. Yeah. And just kept going, refused to get tackled. I was I was kind of angry, but you know, I looked over the sidelines, gave him a little something and then But you said you were winning.
No, we were up by like three touchdowns, but then they scored late, you know, trying to So it was still a little bit I don't know. It was Yeah, it was still like a we we knew we were going to win, but they were trying to fight back. So yeah. All right. Um before we get on to streaming, quick question. Have you ever gone down to the American River in uh outside of Sacramento? Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely. I fish down there. You know, I never gotten to fly fishing, but that's something I kind of want to like learn.
You know, I don't I don't want to get into it too much cuz it's busy, but um you know, I have a [snorts] couple friends that fish a lot in the American River, so I'd go down there with them. I did. I I spent a ton of time down there whitewater kayaking. Oh, nice. And love. That's where I learned with my with my son, and it's a blast one. Yeah. I go surfing and skiing out there. It's awesome. All right. So, um, uh, I know you've had a warm reception on Twitch. Um, and you know, talk about, you know, your decision to start streaming and, you know, what led you to start doing that.
Yeah. So, um, as we all know, I broke my ankle. I think it was eight or nine games into the year. Um, and you know, I I was laying in bed and, you know, I thought to myself, like, what am I going to do now? You know, um, I literally couldn't walk, couldn't move. Like it was brutal. For three weeks I was pretty stuck. And had you ever had an injury in college like that for high school? Never. Um I've I've have I have both AC separations of both shoulders that kind of held me back but didn't hold me out.
Um and this is the first time that I've ever had to miss. Um so it was kind of like, okay, what am I going to do now? How am I going to stay connected? How am I going to allow people to, you know, still feel that I'm present in their life, that I'm not vanishing? Um, and you know, when 8 months go by and nobody sees your face, you know, you kind of people start forgetting. So, um, when I started on Twitch, I started in college, my senior year of college, um, I was probably at a couple hundred followers.
Then, you know, I had probably 50 to 60 views a day. Um, when I was streaming and then, you know, I got into the NFL, the platform was bigger, and then, you know, I got hurt and I was like, "Okay, there's just all this bottled up energy like you were talking about." um I need to get it all out somehow. So I started streaming u pop stream on at 8 o'clock at night and you know and just go with it. You know I didn't really ever have a set plan. I still never have a set plan.
Um I get on the game, have a good time, talk to chat and just enjoy the moment. Yeah. And had you been had you already been doing other types of social media before you started streaming? Were you like creating Tik Toks and Instagram before or all of them kind of after you started? Yeah, it's it's it started with Twitch for sure. Um, I did a bunch of stuff and I was like, well, I'm doing I'm doing a good amount of funny stuff and, you know, interesting stuff to start other platforms. So, you know, obviously I hired a little team around me that, you know, helps me with that stuff and they get all the clips, the funny clips and um, but yeah, my my TikTok and all that stuff has been built off my Twitch.
Built off of what the the fun stuff you do on. Absolutely. Yeah. And so, so how many like how many days a week do you end up streaming? Um, I haven't streamed in a while. I've been super busy. Um, you know, I've been all over the country, so it's been a couple weeks, but when I'm when I'm consistent, about three times a week is probably what I'm shooting for in the in the near future. So, yeah, it's definitely, you know, cuz when I became CEO, I started streaming, and when I don't, I kind of miss it.
Y and I miss the community. It's like, you know, and and so it's really something that's kind of unique and special. Yeah. You build something with, you know, you never see these people, but you talk to them every day. And um you know, I built a good connection with a couple of my viewers that you know, now are my mods. And um I see them in person now. You know, people that I never even knew what they look like. And you know, I'm calling this guy Gerard and his name's Bobby, you know, and and I I didn't meet them for a year and a half of my life, but I talk to him every day when I was streaming.
So, um I met him I met him in person and now he's a good friend of mine. So, and it's funny, it's it's probably someone that in your normal life you wouldn't have ever like become good friends with just because of your circles and his circle. Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, frat boy at ASU and football player at ASU, you know, those those worlds don't usually collide, you know, but Oh, he was he was from ASU. Yeah, he went to ASU. He was one of my first I had about four people that were in every stream when I was started in college and those are like my four main mods that help me out and, you know, do a lot of things for me on the back end.
and um they they've been doing a great job and I've made friends with all of them. Yeah. I always think it's neat that um because you just see them as their tag, right? And um you don't have a preconceived notion and generally when you meet someone in person, you kind of pigeon hole them based upon what they look like an athlete and all you have is a tag and you build a relationship and then you meet them like, "Oh, that's not what I thought you look like." Exactly. I mean, they could be any color, any weight, anything.
You you never know. when you're having this great connection with somebody and you never know when you first meet somebody and you look at them in person, you could judge them right off the right off the bat and that's not something you do on the internet. Yeah. You know, unless they get a little too typy and type a bunch, you're like, "Oh god, this guy gets But, you know, I love all my viewers. They they've been great. Um, I've made friends with a bunch of them, so it's been awesome." Yeah. So, tell me, and this is something that still even though like you're a football player first and a streamer second, obviously, how do you think about and and do you look at the ACCV?
for folks listening that's average concurrent viewers which is do you look at that do you think about that on a stream or does it kind of not even sometimes um you know cuz I I have a lot of different types of viewers um some come from football and I started playing World of Warcraft so some came from there I played probably 10 different games in the last 3 months so I'm getting a lot of different people coming in um but you know I don't I try not to pay too much attention about it cuz you know Twitch is supposed to be fun For me, I'm having a good time doing it.
Um, football's the main objective, obviously, but when I get on Twitch, I don't want to try to think about too much. I mean, I don't care if there's 50 people in there or if there's 10,000, you know, and it's it's almost better if there's a little bit less just because you can interact a little bit more and, you know, see people's see people's talk. So, yeah. Yeah. So, um, uh, let's go ahead and talk about, um, uh, besides g, actually, no, before I go into gaming and other things, talk about, uh, I mean, in terms of other stuff besides gaming, talk about, you know, you as a gamer, when did you start gaming, what was your favorite game growing up?
Yeah, you know, I started playing I probably picked up a Xbox 360 controller when I was four years old, 5 years old. Um, I think when I really got into it, um, it was a one of my Christmas, I want to say when I was seven or seven or eight years old, um, during Christmas, my dad had bought me Modern Warfare and, you know, I looked at my older brother, I was like, "This is mine. You have to ask me to use it." Uh, ended up getting a butt whooping, but, you know, he he he taught me lessons like, "You're going to share your games." You know, and um, from that moment on, we had five Xboxes in the same room.
Um, we me, my dad, my brother, my dad's best friend. So, your dad your dad would game with you all the time? Yeah. I mean, we we hopped on Xbox and most games are four players. So, we would hop on as a four as a trio or quad and just play any game we wanted to. Um, sometimes, you know, my brother's friends would come over and kick me off the game and play with the boys. But, um, I've been playing games since I could remember, honestly. Now, do you still game with your dad at all?
Yeah, I mean, he he hops on games here and there. I mean, we're we're working on getting him a gaming PC right now, so yeah. Um hopefully soon we can get him one and he can get back on, you know, WOW with us and have a good time. I bet you it's something that that like he loves because, you know, when you get that distance, you have something that, you know, still brings y'all together on a regular basis. Yeah. Like my my brother's the same way. He moved to Ohio in college and I haven't, you know, I haven't we didn't really have a connection strong connection the last probably three or four years.
Um and in the last six months when I started streaming, really kicking off, he's been helping me with that. you know, he's been doing a good job and, you know, our connection has grown through, you know, streaming and playing games together. So, yeah. So, so, um, when you think about, um, the things you like to stream because you do gaming, but then also talk about some of the other stuff you like to do in terms of you probably have I know you do a lot of just chatting, too. Have you done any IRL streaming yet?
Not yet. you know, I there's there's a whole setup that goes behind that and people that you got to, you know, get around you to work work with your schedule and make sure that, you know, there's a specific [clears throat] time stamp for everybody to, you know, meet up and do all that. But, you know, I'm I'm slowly getting into it. I'm slowly trying to figure out what to buy and get the right stuff set up. And, uh, that's definitely going to be something in the near future that goes on. Well, I will tell you, having done it a fair amount myself, I encourage you not worrying about having all these things to have to buy.
[laughter] that that what it is is you do have a bunch and I'm a tech person so I love gear. Yeah, I love gear but actually most of the time when IRL stream I have all the gear. I have a backpack. I have everything but often I just use my phone with another phone with a hot spot. Awesome. And that's it. Stick it on a stick and wherever you're at, you're ready to go and you don't have to worry about having a team and all that stuff. Yep. Sweet. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, um let's talk about your community.
Okay. What is your like anything in particular with your community? Any rituals? any things that they've started doing? Any things that you do in particular? Um, nothing nothing really that has stuck yet that's like consistent. Um, you know, I I do a lot of giveaways on my streams. You know, I I give away, you know, some PlayStation covers, some I've given away a couple jerseys. I've given away a couple signed cards. Um, that's something I like to do for them because, you know, they're they show up every time. Um, they subscribe. they they do things for me that helps me.
Um, so I like to give back and, you know, like I said, I don't do it, you know, I don't do it to make a ton of money or see a bunch of viewers. I'm doing it because I have a good time. And so being able to give back to the people that, you know, I might not see 20,000 people up in the stands, you know, they have an opportunity to win something on the stream. So that's something I'm going to continue to do and hopefully just keep growing my platform with that. Yeah. One of the things that I find interesting when I stream is, you know, obviously unlike a regular Twitch streamer where you're funding your life from streaming, you're not out there trying to get them to give you money and do all that, right?
You're like, "Look, I've got" And um but it's still interesting how that's something they still do. I mean, I take any money I make and I donate it. I But, you know, I I'm sure that still happens to you a lot where people are giving you gift subs and all sorts of stuff, right? Yeah. It's awesome. I mean, I like I said, I have a great community that helps me out and, you know, give subs and there's probably 10 to 15 people that come in consistently and give give five, give 10 here and there. And, um, that's just them showing that they care about me, they're supporting me, and um, that's why I do my giveaways.
And, you know, sometimes I'll pick a sub that has given a lot of stuff and, you know, here I I get your own jersey for you. So, right. Give something back to them. Yeah. Absolutely. Yeah. Yeah. Um, all right. So, in terms of collaborations, okay, which is a big part of Twitch, talk about what collaborations you've done and what was fun, like what what stands out in terms of any of the collaborations you've done streaming. Yeah, so I think my first my first collaboration was in college. It was with Juice. Um, we did a Madden or Call of Duty collaboration.
Played together for a little bit. That was a good one. Um, and then recently I've done Jinxy Sketch. Um, yeah, I've done a couple different people and you know, Jinxies was probably the funniest because it was still early and I was like still juiced up and hyper and um and then and and and he kind of matches you. You two are sort of like in a in a different world. You're like twins of different levels. Yes, exactly. You know, and and and he's I'm not saying he's not, but he thinks he's the best in the world at everything every game at every game.
So, but I also think that so when I play against him, it's like, but you didn't beat him in Rainbow Six. I mean, there's no chance. Okay. Our my match versus him was I was allowed to use a gun and he was only allowed to melee me. Ah, and he still beat me. So, that just shows you how bad I am at Rainbow. Yeah, I I didn't figure Rainbow cuz Rainbow Six is one of those games that a lot of folks just You got to grind that. Yeah, you got to grind it. I played a little bit, but not too much.
And then obviously I like not too long ago I've I've had a stream with Sketch. We did a Madden Madden stream together. And Madden, is Madden something you played a lot or not? Not really. I didn't grow up playing Madden. Um, just cuz I played football and baseball and stuff growing up. And I got home and I wanted to play shooters and, you know, a lot of different stuff other than playing football again. And um, but being an athlete, being a football player and a gamer at the same time, I'm not too bad at it.
So, I can play it here and there. You can like the strategy part of Madden in terms of what plays to run and all that probably comes naturally. Yeah, just you haven't perfected the I don't know how to make the ends stay wide and drop the corners back. Like that's the skill part. Um I just call the defense and hope that it works. Right. Right. Right. Yeah. No, that's when I if I play Madden, I'm kind of the same way. I enjoy that. But like the whole controlling like how the heck no chance I do that like running them all over the place, you know?
Yeah. Yeah. Now, what about So, let's see. Was there a streamer when you go back in time that you remember watching a lot, you know, when you like high school or something like that? I think um in high school I started watching Douchous. I got into Apex uh at the beginning of my high school days. Um Douche was one of the main guys that I started watching on Apex. Um and then Imperial How I I started watching him. Then I got into the al ALG's um all the tournaments of Apex and started picking apart different streamers.
Um and then you know recently you know I've been playing Arc so I've been watching the guys that are big in Arc. Um and then Jinx has been somebody that I think everybody watched at some point. Um when he was when he was younger and just didn't care. It was a blast. And he's still the same guy. But um when you're young too, you think that it's a lot funnier. Like you everything you do 18 years old, you know, talking crap is funnier, doing all that stuff is a lot funnier when you're, you know, 18 years old.
But I mean, I still watch Sketch. I still watch Jinxy. I still watch, you know, all these guys from the past. And I've connected with some, you know, I I did something with Rogue, um the Apex player, now Battlefield. So, I've I'm glad I'm getting into the world because I'm starting to meet the people that I like I said I those are famous people to me watching streamers that do good things and show a lot on the internet. Um those people are famous to me. I might be famous to them cuz I play football, but I like watching those guys.
See them on the TV. I type to them. They never talk back. So, yeah, that that's how I feel. Well, I have a I have a funny story during the um uh in I think it was it was the the Super Bowl before co so I think 2019 when the Chiefs won and we had a streamer bowl and um we had rented this place out for that evening and that and we had a bunch of streamers there and eventually the Chiefs showed up okay at like 3 in the morning and they were thinking it was so cool that the streamers were there and everyone else they won the Super Bowl, right?
But these are like, "Oh my gosh." And like it's just something you see on the internet all the time. Like streaming is internet based. So like you could play football game and nobody would post you. You know, you go on a stream one time and do something funny. The whole world sees it. Well, the other thing that I think people don't realize that like even though you're, you know, everyone's like, "Oh, Kim Scataboo." Especially because, you know, you got so much attention, you know, um, early in the year, but you don't think of yourself like that.
you just think of yourself, you know, as a normal person. Yeah. 100%. Yeah. So, I think it's I'm honestly it's probably gotten worse, you know, being the famous quote unquote famous um streaming has probably gotten worse cuz now I'm getting more of the the the the nerd gaming side of the world didn't know you as a football that are starting to gravitate towards me too because they like the way I play the game. They like the way I talk on stream and then make some football fans as well. So, yeah. Yeah. So, um, anyone anyone you're thinking, "Oh, it'd be great to to to collaborate with this streamer and that streamer." I mean, I got a ton, um, in mind, you know, I I can't really pick out specifics.
I got the two that I really wanted um, from the past, but I think it'd be fun to see you with what I'll call the old guard, you know, like um, Tim the Tatman or Ninja like playing Arc Raiders with them. I think I think that would be a good time. Yeah, I I've hit up Ninja and his team, so hopefully we'll get some of that in the near future. Yeah. Yeah, I think that would be a good one. Um, all right. So, um, in terms of future, so let's move past football. Okay. Obviously, you're focused now, streaming is a nice thing on the side, but you're a football player.
Um, um, actually, no, before we move past football, let's talk a bit about next season. You must be pretty jazzed going into next season, huh? Yeah, I'm I'm super excited, you know, because it ended rough um there in the middle of the year, but um you know, I'm I'm getting healthy and I'm excited to get back on the field and I know as soon as I run through the tunnel in Giant Stadium and Metife, it's going to be an earthquake. So, I'm super excited. I can't wait to get back on the field, you Who are you rooting for for the Super Bowl?
Do you have you? Uh it's hard to say. um because you're not supposed to like either team when you're on a team. But um you know, the Seahawks look really good. They look powerful. They look strong. You know, they look like a team. And uh not saying this the Patriots don't, but you know, the the Seahawks look unbeatable at this point in the in the year. So, I will I will tell you, I kind of think that um you know, I think there's some similarities with the Giants next year. my money says in New England this year because, you know, with Jackson coming into his second season, you're coming back, you know, this year you y you y'all had those really bright spots where it's like this team's coming together and the nice thing that you see now in the NFL is some teams go from there to up there in one season because it's like the magic hits.
I mean, yeah, new quarterback, you know, going into a second year, new coach, whole new staff coming in. Um, you never really know. So, I'm excited for it. you know, everybody asked me how's how's the coaching changed? Like, I'm I'm ready to go. I'm excited for what we got in the building um and what we're bringing in. So, and there's something I think that, you know, whenever that hits, there'll be no place better than the Giants cuz they've been like looking for that team, you know, they they are such a loyal fan base. Yes. I mean, I I before this, I met Giants fans and I was like, "All right, whatever." And then now I meet Giants fans.
I'm like, I'm sorry, you know, that you had to go through this. But, you know, we're we're here. The youngsters are in the guys we got on the team, the vets, you know, we're we're there now and got a new coach and um, you know, he's proven proven winner. So, I'm excited to, you know, get this. Well, you were spoiled as a 49ers fan. Yeah, I mean, a little bit. You know, I didn't watch a ton of football growing up, but I was spoiled. Being able to just say I was a Niners fan was cool, but just because I was able to win some games a lot, but um kicking field goals every year for the last 5 years to win games has been rough, but you know, now I got a team.
I got my heart stands with the Giants forever. Um and that's, you know, that's where I'm at now. Yeah. All right. So, after football, okay, what and as you're playing, do you first of all, do you think at all about what your life's going to be after football? or or is it you're so in the present that you don't like it's just so a gazillion I think yeah I think I think just because I'm still early in it um I don't really think too much about it um growing up the big thing was trying to be a firefighter um if I come out of this healthy and you know with a good mindset and you know a healthy body and feel like I can still do a lot definitely going to work to do something you know maybe firefighting might be an option streaming star could be a streaming are.
That's what I'm saying. So, you know, streaming is something that's been blowing up for me and been doing well. Um, that's something that, you know, I would not put past myself. So, um, so I have an idea for you for a stream, but first I'm going to go back. Tell me about I'm going to go back to the beginning. Tell me about the Nature Boy nickname that you had. Yeah. In high school, um, I had a girlfriend in high school that has her older sister was married to this this guy named AJ. He was a really good friend of mine.
and still is a really good friend of mine. Um, and you know, he he kept my head on straight. He kept me humble um, through my high school days. Told me I sucked. Not literally, but you know, try to keep me on my toes and make sure that, you know, there's still a guy out there better than you. He was that guy that always gave me that that that voice in my ear that I needed that told me that, you know, you're not the best yet. Um, and we I was running people over constantly throughout my sophomore year and my junior year.
And you know, he's like, "Hey, when you when you run somebody over, just do the Nature Boy woo." You know, cuz he would do it all the time. You know, we would go golfing or whatever we did, he would always scream, "Woo!" Um, and then he was a big Ric Flair fan. So, when he did that and he told me to do it, it kind of just stuck. And every time I ran someone over in high school, back then I had enough energy to scream. You know, now I don't. When I hit somebody, it's, you know, a grown man I'm hitting, not not a 16-year-old kid.
So, and also and also you were probably bigger than the 16-year-old%. I mean, I was hitting these guys that are bigger than you and like I was a smaller guy on the field [laughter] most of growing up. I was a smaller the shorter guy, but I was a little bit stocky. Yeah, I was a little bit more stocky than everybody else. But now all the big guys are just as stocky. They're just they're taller. Yeah, exactly. So, I mean, I'm I probably hit it a couple a couple times throughout my NFL career, but you know, it's something that's just Now, are you a WWE fan?
Yeah, I mean I grew up watching it. you know, my papa um and he passed away when I was like six years old or five or six years old. Um and you know, then I stopped kind of watching it. You know, that was something that we did together. Um every Monday, every Thursday, we would watch that and you know, look back at it now, it's like I should have cherished those moments and, you know, got into it for him. But um I mean I haven't watched a ton of it before this past probably year and a half or two years, but I'll throw it on here and there and because it seems like like um you know at your heart it seems like you're an entertainer and that's why I asked it like you know it just seems like everything you do you're you know.
Yeah. I like I definitely like to be the life of the party sometimes. Not all the time, but you know when when I have my opportunity to be able to, you know, make people laugh and make people happy and have a good time and it's something that I love to do. So So the the um uh uh the idea um uh is this one idea I've been pitching and thinking about that I think it would be a blast for you to do called Picklemania. It's a cross between pickle ball and Wrestlemania. Okay. But you have to come as a character.
Right. And so you come in and you do a pickball tournament, but now you're coming as a Wrestlemania. Okay. I think you would be very good. Might have to make that happen. Yeah, that might be good. Yeah. All right. So, we have some um uh some questions from chat. Um but before we get to questions from chat, I'm going to start with one of mine that I had. You seem like someone who likes a good sandwich. Am I right? Yes. So either your favorite sandwich or a particular sandwich from a particular place that when you think when you're thinking, "Oh, I want a great sandwich." Where is there is there a shop somewhere that you just think of?
In my hometown um in my hometown there's it's called Tummy Sub Shop. It's a there's it's a grilled chicken BLT like bacon, lettuce, tomato. Um there's a chicken. I'll have to remember it next time I'm out there. Tmy's Tummy's uh Tummy's sub shop. I love a good sub shop. But it's just, you know, chick warmed up chicken with cheese and it's just every time I eat it, it's amazing. And the way when I find one, it's like you you put in your mouth and all these emotions come back from all the different I probably. And every time I go back home, I get it.
Um it's just there's been I think four different owners of the same sub shop. Yeah. you know, sell it to this person, sell it to this person. That's the one sandwich that's stuck stuck around, you know, that's that's always been there and then I always go back for it. All right. All right. So, let's go to some of the questions from chat. So, chat wants to know, "What's Cam's favorite cut of steak and how does he like it cooked?" I'm expensive. [laughter] I know what the answer is going to be. I started off with um filet minion medium plus.
Um but now that I actually I'm not going to hide it. I got a little bit more money. Now that I can afford it. Um I love a Japanese A5 Wagu. The Wagu is it's just we have a place back in Arizona that serves it with a hot rock and you cook it yourself. It's just I mean it's actually I'll have to find the name. There's one in San Francisco that actually um EMTT, who's the founder, took me to when I first started that it's up in San Francisco and it was so incredibly good. I'll have to try to search and find the name since you're here.
Sweet cuz it is off the charts good. Yeah. I mean, yeah, my favorite's A5 for sure. Yeah. All right. So, you ever play So, chat wants to know, have you ever played COD Mobile? Okay. And they're doubling up. And will will Cam ever play Fasmo Fasmopobia? Fasmophobia. My brother's tried to get me to play a couple times. Um, you know, I haven't really I don't know if I'm going to find it interesting and I don't want to get on it and ruin the game for myself until I learn about it. Um, but you know, COD Mobile, I used to I I I in high school, coming out of high school, going into college, um, during summer, I had I was working concrete.
Like I would I would go out with my uncle and his his staff and do concrete, pour concrete and you know do fencing with them here and there. Um and when we took lunch break, we were on COD Mobile. Like it was like there's I was playing COD Mobile with 40-year-olds right next to me. You know, it was it was a good time. and we all hopped on a team, played like three or four matches, ate our food, and got back to I think that's another great thing about gaming is it breaks down age barriers because we have such a psychological thing about people of our and then you're doing if you're doing something it's like okay you're 40 I'm you know are you good at the game or not?
So yeah. And then you actually just become friends. Yeah. Exactly. I mean, there's there's a there's a a barrier in the world though in gaming world is if you don't get along, you hate each other. But if you get along on the game and you play together well and you're not losing a ton, then you're probably going to be turning out to be pretty good friends. Yeah. Yeah. I I I'm a big believer. I think this is part of what happens on Twitch. Um, and this is part of I my sense is this I not sense I remember this.
I just played one year at football. But there's something about just spending time together. And I have to think like, you know, one of the biggest I I have to think you're someone that like the off season you just miss that camaraderie of just being there hanging out with the team. Yeah. I mean that that I mean I don't know personally why every day I I get on the game and play with the boys. Um I want to say that could be a reason. Um, but you know, I like you said, you're with the team every day playing playing going to practice, working out with your teammates, you know, playing games with your teammates, and then you go home and it's like, what are you going to do now?
Well, yeah, you have your girlfriend to hang out with you, but she can only hang out with you for so much. She could tell till tell you drive her crazy, but um being on the game is just it allows you to, you know, relax, you know, use your brain. Um, the competitiveness is still there when you play the game. Um, and then the connection with your boys, just playing and having a good time. And that's what happens so often on Twitch, interesting, while you're playing, but also with your community. It's just all that shared time together, you form a bond that, you know, it just over time you're like, oh my gosh, we're like, where'd that go?
Yeah. If you end up stopping, it's like, where'd that go? So, that's definitely something that is is missing when you stop. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So, let's see. I think they to they had one more question, but they took it off because they're ready, I think, for us to wrap it up. Okay, so chat, thanks for sending the questions. All right, so um we have a closing question here. When you went viral, you chugged an energy drink out of your your cleat for hitting a th000 subscribers. Do you have anything planned for when you hit 10,000 subscribers or come up with something now?
Maybe we just have to come up with something. I mean, I'm I'm not we I we talked about it on chat one time, but I still have the cleat that I got injured in. Um, I think if we get to 10,000, there's a chance we can maybe do a Shuy out of the cleat that's cut open from breaking my ankle injury. I think that's something that'll put it away. All right, that sounds good. All right, so thank you, Cam. Um, we got a really great perspective. I love, you know, just getting to know you, hearing about how you use Twitch.
And I do think um more and more you see Twitch as a platform that athletes, entertainers, musicians, folks of all part um are are using it to kind of engage with their community in a new way. So very interesting to hear that. All right, so um thank you for being here, Cam, and looking forward to hanging out with you at the Streamer Bowl. Um, everyone else, thank you for tuning in to the podcast. We stream it on Twitch with a live audience. Join us on twitch.tv twitch for the next show.
