Justine dives into WWDC 2026 revelations, led by a revamped Siri AI powered by Google Gemini, plus bold Photos and parental‑control upgrades that redefine everyday iOS use.

Summary

Justine returns to WWDC 2026 with her signature excitement, confirming Golden Gate as Apple's next macOS name and spotlighting Siri’s bold new AI upgrade. The keynote centers Siri AI, a contextual assistant that understands your emails, messages, calendar, and even on‑screen content, making it an autonomous task‑performer rather than a button‑pouncer. Apple’s partnership with Google Gemini is key, enabling Siri to orchestrate actions across native apps like Safari, Mail, Calendar, and Shortcuts, while offering smarter automation—such as a single description that generates an entire shortcut. In Photos, new tools like the extend feature and advanced image editing promise near‑ Photoshop‑level edits directly on iPhone, with photorealistic results and edge‑sharp consistency. The Spatial Reframe feature now gives real control over 3D framing, letting you reframe and auto‑generate backgrounds. Image Playground gets a major leap in realism, plus interactive prompts and touch edits for iterative image adjustments. Siri’s voice has been upgraded, with options to tailor cadence, and even a nod to the original Siri voice via a fun moment with Justine. Apple also rolls out clearer Liquid Retina glass readability settings and expanded parental controls: ask to browse, enhanced safety, app time limits, whitelisting/blacklisting, unknown contacts approval, category/time windows, and more—appealing to parents and households everywhere. Finally, Justine shares a personal moment about Tim Cook’s farewell at WWDC and offers a candid glimpse of what the transition to John Ternis as CEO might mean for the future of Apple.

Hey everyone, it's Justine and we are back at WWDC 2026. I know, I know. We were just here last year, but we are back again. This is the event that sets up the rest of the year for everything that we can expect with Apple and the latest iOS updates. Which leads me to the most hard-hitting question that everyone has. What is going to be the name of the next Mac OS version? And my friends, it is Golden Gate. I just wanted to make sure. I was like, I know this is right, but I need to just I need to confirm to my notes. I loved so much in the keynote. had this really fun little montage. Um, if you missed it, you're going to need to go back and rewatch it cuz it was so good. Athens last year, they started the new naming convention for all of their operating systems to take place in what year they're going to be released. So, right now, we're moving into 27, which includes the biggest announcement overall, Siri. This is something that we desperately needed updated. I mean, a few years ago, Apple promised some things in Siri that never really came to fruition, but now, everyone, please meet Siri AI. Now, recently, they made a partnership with Google Gemini to use part of their technology in some of their new models, which has made a huge difference. It felt like at the core of every announcement, we saw how the new Siri AI was integrated into everything. Now, we already knew that Apple made a deal to use some aspects of Google Gemini to power its new suite of tools, but today we got to see it in action. So, let's meet new Siri AI, which is not actually being called Siri AI. It's still called Siri, but Siri AI is like the new little this new little dress. It's like its new little outfit that it's wearing. Now, the biggest shift is how it's able to contextualize information on your devices, your emails, your messages, your photos, your calendar, what's on your screen, and it takes all of that into consideration with every conversation. Now, there's no jumping from app to app to do tasks. Siri is now an agent that can do it all for you. I think this is something that they tried to do previously and it never really worked out. But really seeing this in action here with the demos at WWDC, I was like, "Okay, I think we're finally getting somewhere. Siri might actually be useful." Siri's been added to native OS apps like Safari where it'll take a bunch of open tabs and group them by topic. Or you can hand it a job like, "Watch this page and tell me the second it updates." Siri now has the apps talking to each other way more cleanly, so mail and calendar can pull a date straight out of your messages and offer to add it. And in shortcuts, you can build a whole automation just by describing it. Type something like, "Every time I leave for work, text Jenna, my ETA," and it'll make the entire shortcut for you. Okay. But by far my favorite was the photos app. I do a lot of image generation in Photoshop. I'm always editing things. So to be able to now not have to take a photo off of my phone and take it into Photoshop to like edit something because we all know that the cleanup tool previously was just okay. But now I think they actually they really nailed it. You can see in this demo it actually worked. Then there's extend which will extend your image about 25%. So you can't extend and make yourself, you know, legs if you've just got a torso. But this demo was pretty cool because you can see here you can pinch out, you can zoom out, and then it'll automatically fill in the background. And it did a really great job. You can see around the edges it's pretty crisp even in his shirt. Like everything looks very realistic. I don't know if I should be scared or not because this is so real that I don't know. I don't know how you feel. I love it. But also, that's not his body. Moving on to something else, which is so trippy. Spatial refframe. So, you might remember last year when you would take an image, it can be pretty much any image. It didn't have to be taken recently, and you could turn it into this 3D spatial image as you turn your phone. And now we're taking that a step further. It's actually giving you control. You can go into the photo, you can move the image around. And then when you get the frame that you like, you just hit reframe and it basically will autogenerate that entire background to make it look like that you just stepped to the side to retake the photo. Yeah, I know. I know. I know. I know. Image Playground also got a massive upgrade. When you see the images now compared to the ones that you took previously, the previous ones felt a little cartoony whereas this feels so photorealistic. It's pretty wild. So, in this demo, they showed them making a birthday card for a friend, and they're using this on an image that's already in their album. So, they took their friend, added some text prompt, and this is the image that they got. Now, the cool thing is if you want to make some changes, you can also add some text prompts, and it'll let you change the image. But you can also use touch. So, if you want to circle these berries right here and turn them into something else, you can do that. The other cool thing is if you swipe up or down, you can go and see the different iterations of that image. So, if you want to use one that you like previously, you can do that, too. Siri also has an upgraded voice, and she sounds lovely. Just listen. Jaws said, "Team, these apricots are peak." You can also go in and edit her voice if you want it to have a different cadence to speed it up. So, I'm excited to check that out and see what we can make Siri sound like. Does anybody remember when I met the voice of Siri? I'm in this room with Susan Bennett, who is the voice of Siri. Siri is very, you know, she's she's very mysterious. I don't know if they're still using original series voice, but like now on design, we are in year two of liquid glass and it has grown on me. Like I really really like it. But they did make an update to make it easier to read, which I think is definitely warranted. So now there's a slider so you can change how clear you want the glass to be. So depending upon your preference, you can now choose. Another amazing update is going to help parents police their children's activity on their devices. And I love this because I don't have a child, but I do have a six-year-old niece. So, I bought an iPad and I am now the parental control of this iPad. And it is stressful because she's constantly asking if she can download an app, if she can have more time. And this isn't even my child, so I cannot even imagine what you parents are going through. So, there's some new things that Apple has announced to help us with our kids and their content. They have ask to browse for websites. There's expanded communication safety that blurs violent content and redesigned time allowance for managing apps. There's app whitelisting and blacklisting. There's also unknown contacts, so parents can require kids to ask for approval whenever they want to communicate with someone new. Category limits, so you can set time allowances for specific apps and categories, and even time windows. So, this is great. So, if she is home on the weekends, I can give her a little more time to play, but during the week, I don't know if she has homework yet. She's only six. Do your homework, kids. Stay in school. There are a lot of other small things in the keynote, but those were some of my favorites. But there is one more thing. Oh my god, I might start crying. This is Tim's last WWDC. It's been about 15 years since he took over for Steve and it has been such a wild ride. So, I did actually run into Tim after the keynote and I didn't even know what to say to him. I just wanted to be like congratulations, but like I lost my words. So good to see you. Yes. Congratulations on the on the new the next. Thank you. I appreciate that. Gra. Yeah, of course. I got super emotional just thinking about his new journey. So, I congratulated him, took a selfie, and then he went along his merry way. It's kind of wild to think that John Turnis will be the new CEO when the iPhone 18 is announced. I'm excited for the next journey, whatever that is, for Apple. And of course, you know, I'll be there covering it. So, if you guys like this video, thumbs up. Let me know in the comments below what you thought about WWTC this year. And do we still subscribe and hit bells here? I'm not sure. Do all those things. And I will see you guys in the next video. Bye.
