Battlefield 6 players get a major update tease for Operations and a look at a stunning Portal jungle map and a hardcore firing-range portal creation.

Summary

Jackfrags walks through fresh Battlefield 6 developments and community-made wonders. He recalls reporting a cheater seen playing Redseack and notes the ban confirmation, praising DICE’s anti-cheat system. He then highlights an official Battlefield video confirming tomorrow’s patch, which reintroduces Operations as an LTM on Contaminated and Hanoi Bay, with new gas deployments and a revised defib system that limits revives to three charges. Thompson (from the official video) signals that player feedback will shape future Ops changes, hinting at more map integration and iterations. On a lighter note, Jackfrags showcases a jaw-dropping Jungle-themed custom Portal map by Trent Semler, featuring jungle visuals, easter eggs, and a mix of artillery, smoke, gadget pickups, and “levolution” style effects. He contrasts the polish of community-created maps with the limited visibility and reach of Portal content, arguing that creators deserve better recognition and monetization options. Finally, he dives into Kakito’s insane Portal firing-range build, where you can test any weapon with unlocked barrels and accessories, customize bot behavior, and compare recoil on a moving wall—an experience he says Dice should consider for core game modes. The episode ends with a plug for following updates on the patch and more Portal showcases.

Key Takeaways

  • DICE’s anti-cheat system is active: a cheater seen on Redseack was banned after being reported by players, validating the reporting process.
  • Operations is returning as an LTM in BF6, limited to Contaminated and Hogen Bay maps, with player feedback framed as mission-critical for future evolution.
  • The new defibrillator system gives players three fully charged defibs at spawn and recharges over time, promoting smarter reviving rather than mass spam revives.
  • The official video confirms gas deployment in attacking phase for Contaminated, hinting at gas artilleries or interactables that push defenders out.
  • A standout Jungle Portal map by Trent Semler demonstrates advanced asset usage and Easter eggs, plus notes on lighting and RAM performance consistent with Portal experiments.
  • Kakito’s firing-range Portal map (ZU KP7) lets players customize any weapon with unlocked components, track recoil in real-time, and test multiple barrels without re-entry, all in a single screen.

Just some good news before we actually get into the meat and bones of the video today. So last week me and Will played Redseack and we came across a cheetah in the second game and it was the first cheetah I'd ever seen in Battlefield 6. I mean I haven't really played Red Sec that much at all to be honest. So maybe it happens more there but in Dier 6 multiplayer I don't think it's happened to me. But Red Sack this guy was obviously cheating killed me and will really quickly and it just felt weird. you just know how quick you died, the specifics of that combat situation, whatever. So, we spectated this guy and he was flicking to people through walls and wall hacking, tracking people, aim bowing, obvious cheat. So, we reported him and then earlier this morning, we both actually got emails saying that the cheat we reported had been banned. So, GG, good job, DICE. It's nice to know that that system actually works. So, fair play. Got to give some props there. Next up, we got a new official video from Battlefield, and this is setting up the update tomorrow with the operations game mode. So, operations is coming back to BF6. Last time we had it was in BF1. In BF6 starting tomorrow, there's a big update to the game with a load of changes and bug fixes. It looks like quite a significant patch, but they're also introducing operations again. It's an LTM sadly. I know that kind of sucks. and it's only going to be available on the two maps in season 2 which were contaminated in Hogen Bay. So, be a narrative connecting them. But in the trailer, there's some interesting things that I thought we'd pick out and something that Thompson, the developer here, said which leads me to believe that operations isn't done and we're going to see more of it. So, let's take a quick look. So, they said at the start that in the attacking phase of Contaminated, the attackers can deploy the VL7 gas. So, that's the orange gas. I don't know what that means. Maybe there's a button or an interactable or something that you can press on the map now where you can send a load of poisonous gas onto the defensive positions using artillery to force the defenders out. Not quite sure how that's going to work. So, tomorrow we'll jump in and check that out. We can also see that they're playing on a different version of the game here because in the UI when this guy's got the defibs, this is the new defib system. And you can see the number of charges on the user interface at the bottom. So, the new system, you can get three fully charged defibs when you spawn, and you'll be able to use those to get people back on 100 HP. Once you've used those, they're going to recharge over time. So, they're asking you to think a bit more about reviving rather than just spam clicking 50 revives all of the time. So, killing somebody is going to have a bit more impact because they can't just be spam revived. Now, I think that's the idea. There's already been a lot of argument about this in the community. Some people love it, some people hate it. We'll see how it turns out in practice. And Tompen also said in the video, "Feedback will be mission critical to how we evolve our approach to operations in the future." So, this is what I was talking about. So, it looks like they're going to be taking learnings from this and getting feedback from the players and data and experience, whatever, and then, fingers crossed, adding it to more Battlefield 6 maps in the future. Good. I think Operations is a beloved game mode, especially if you came from BF1. The idea of having attackers and battalions and the narrative, it just adds a bit of meaning, I suppose. and focus purpose to the gameplay if you care about that kind of thing. So it sounds like we will see operations come back in the future. I hope not as an LTM though. I hope that they can just pair up a lot of the maps which naturally in this game I think there are a lot of pairings there. They've obviously designed it like that on purpose so they can reuse assets from the same biomes I suppose. So there are some good pairings there that would fit with Operations and going forward in the future too perhaps they'll be thinking about that a bit more. And next up we're going to check out a jungle map in Battlefield 6. Yes, you heard me right. So, this might possibly be the best looking custom portal map that I've ever seen. And I have been following this guy. Every time he's done an update for this, he's made a trailer for it. Yes, this guy has been working on this map a long time and made trailers for it and patch notes and stuff. Now, we don't have a jungle map in BF6, but this dude, I think his name is Trent Semler, has taken all of the available assets in the game and made a map that looks like a jungle. I mean, it's got Valparezo vibes. I had to show this cuz in the trailer that I saw yesterday, oh my god, that tree. Yeah, in the trailer yesterday it said that this has got artillery strikes, smoke screens, gadget pickups, battle pickups, levolution, whatever that means, new visual effects, new sound effects, and map secrets. Like at the end of the trailer, there's like a weird pyramid or something. So, he's even put an Easter egg in. I have to show this cuz this dude has put so much effort into this and there's still really there's no way that the people who are making these maps, oh my god, can get people to play them. You I know that Battlefield has featured this maybe the breakthrough version of it and put full XP on it, but yeah, like Oh, artillery strike. Hello. Is this the artillery strike that's going to be in Goldman Railway or is this the one that's in BR? Look at that. Let's put down an artillery strike in a multiplayer map on Battlefield 6. And the lighting on this isn't even that bad. I know that because of the way BF6 works, it doesn't have dynamic lighting, sometimes when people make these custom experiences and they're so far away from the main multiplayer maps, the lighting can look really scuffed with the shadows and stuff. But this looks all right. I think he's done a pretty good job with this. If you're making custom geometry, the lighting isn't quite right. So, it's not this guy's fault. And to be honest, like I said, he's he's done a pretty decent job of this. And look at this. This feels like a proper jungle environment here. Am I in the predator or what? So, we can fly this around. We can capture the D objective. Let's go over to E. Try not to get killed by that bot there. You just fire a rocket at me. Yeah, I did host this server online. So, people are free to join if they want, but I think it's unlikely cuz, you know, still, as I was saying, smoke screen, there's not really a way for these creators to get their maps out there cuz people don't use Portal. They don't use the server browser. Look at that lovely smoke screen that I just put up. And also, I wish that there was a way that these Portal creators could make money from these creations cuz they're putting so many hours and so much effort into this. And I know that a lot of people just do this for the love of the game. I mean, modding has led to some of the best games ever really that we still play today. PUBG, CS, Dota. I mean, would we have had Battlefield 2 if we didn't have mods? Because when I I mean, I'm almost 40. When I was playing BF1942, a mod came out for it called Desert Combat, which basically was a total conversion, a mod that made it into modern day. And it was sick. We played it all the time. DICE actually ended up hiring a load of that team and they went on to make Battlefield 2. So, would we have had Battlefield 2 without modding, without these community members making this kind of thing? I don't know. I'm just saying. So, if these guys could actually get more tangible reward for putting effort in, you know, like in Fortnite, like in Roblox, they have the creator codes or whatever where people play on their experiences, they spend time on them, and then they get paid for it. It's just a nice thing, you know? What are these weird blue things here? Wow, there's like a weird Mayan temple I mean, this kind of asset isn't in the game. So, he's like stacked the breeze blocks to make it look like a temple. So much effort has gone into this. The ro battle pickup. Yeah, maybe the people making these custom things would just love a bit more visibility, too, from Battlefield. I mean, this definitely looks a bit Easter eggy. There's those blue things again. What's going on? I got some yellow smoke over there. Yeah, I think DICE might have highlighted the breakthrough version of this and put full XP on it. Maybe I'll have to check afterwards cuz you can play this in conquest and breakthrough. I'll show you the codes when I'm back on the menu for both. Oh, he's got the UAV. See, he's even got the UAV from uh Red Sack in it. Is it flying? Look, there it is. That's going to spot people on the mini map now. It's friendly. gadget pickup. That's an APS, but yeah, there's a couple of bots here. They'll remember this. Oh, there's no hit range. What the hell? Oh, the game lag there, I think. See, that's something with custom logic portal servers, too. Sometimes they just suck. You get 30 Hz and you get lag, you get stuff like that. I felt a bit of rubber band in there, too. But that's a C objective. I think we've seen all the objectives now. So, it's not a massive map, but come on. Like, he he's made a jungle map. But there's the lag. That's what I'm talking about. Portal deserves so much more love. And I'll show you something else after this as well that again that's on Portal. It's lagging really bad now. And it's something that somebody has made. There's a building up there that isn't in the game, and it's actually better than the official version of what we have in the game. And you'll see what I mean when I show you. Where is this secret going to be? When the mine temple was at B. I went down to see. There's a weird sticky out bit here. What's that about? Bots, please. No. I've been murdered by a bot. Embarrassing. Maybe I should try and get to that weird sticky out bit. What even is it over here somewhere? I'm intrigued now. There's got to be Is it up here? Oh, look. It is something. I mean, come on. Look at that. Was just begging to be broken, wasn't it? Whoa. I shoot those. There it is. There's the pyramid. There's a blue thing on the top. Can I go there? No, it's out of bounds. Okay, so there's got to be Can I destroy these then? Maybe it's a bit low there. This is so cool cuz this guy's just made an Easter egg or something. We got it. Is it flying? I Is it a UFO? Maybe I have to destroy all the blue things. I don't know. So, there's a thing here and there's a blue circle underneath it. There's these blue circles. But that went down in one hit. Then maybe I just have to destroy them all. Is it going to be that simple? The game's over. Well, I guess we'll have to leave the Easter egg to another day. Maybe the guy that made this could comment on the video and give us a hint. But yeah, that is really impressive. So, just to show you guys, the Conquest version code is ZK K VRR Jungle Breach. That's only got the 150% match completion bonus. But Battlefield must have actually like featured this or something or done something cuz the breakthrough version of it, which is Z 54s, this one has got full XP on it. So, Battlefield must have approved this. So, if you want to play this with full XP and host a server, you can, but only on breakthrough right now. I don't know if you get many real people joining, but you can get full XP against bots, although that is limited a bit. Now, the next thing we're going to look at is this one here, ZU KP7, and this is an insane firing range. Right. So, we've got a firing range in the game. Very basic, bit difficult to use. This one is made by Kakito. And based on what I saw in his little video, you can do so much stuff in this. I like that concept art. Wasn't that one of the first pieces of concept art that was leaked or they released or something? Sure it was. So, at the top of the screen there, you can see all of the different attachments for the gun. And we've got bots here, right? So, this is kind of just like the normal firing range, but they immediately get replaced. So, you don't have to wait for the targets to come back up. You'll also notice on the right of the screen there, there's a tally, which is a record of all the shots that you're taking and how much damage you're doing, which is great. Now, if I interact here, the menu opens up and I can select any weapon in the game. I don't think I have to have these unlocked either. So, let's go for the AK 205. And then we can choose the ammo. We can choose the barrel. We can choose what's on the bottom. So, let's go for a classic vertical grip. We can put a match trigger on it. Different magazine. And you don't have to go back into the menu or anything. You can just throw this stuff on. All unlocked for free. How sick is this? This kind of thing. Should this not be in the game already? Like, I've just made a new build there. I've not had to go into the menu or anything. And there's more. Wait. So if we go to settings here, there's behavior. So for the bots, I can give them unlimited health. I can kill them all. I can make them crouch, prone, stand. I can make them move. I start moving around. You want a bit of variety in your shooting range. Want to work on your tracking. And I think aggressive will make them move really quick. Oh, they actually shoot back at you with aggressive. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I didn't expect that. I thought they were just going to start spinning around. So, different settings for the bots. You get it. Now, over here, this is the icing on the cake. So, you get a wall basically. And if we interact with the menu here, you can build your weapons, whatever. And you can compare the recoil. That's cool. But if you click this cycle on reload, I can go. Okay, so I want to start with the 18in barrel. Let's see what that looks like. And then when I've got through the mag, it automatically applies the next barrel that I selected in that menu. So I don't have to respawn. I don't have to go into the menu or anything like that. And now I've got three really clean comparisons of what those different barrels look like. That is I mean hire this guy dice. How good is this? And you could switch to another weapon and compare it there. And then if you want to clean the wall, boom, there you go. Do it with a different gun. And you can move the wall away. So if you want the wall closer, boom, 5 m. You want it 50 m, there it is. Test your recoil. Now Pakito, the dude that made this, he's nailed it. Absolutely nailed it. Now, if we could just add vehicles to this as well and maybe expand it. Incredible. I should be looking at this kind of stuff going, "Right, we maybe should have this kind of stuff in the game." What if there's an Easter egg in this here? I'm not sure. But yeah, two really cool portal creations. I just had to show you guys. Obviously, we got the bit at the start with the operations thing tomorrow. Of course, I'll be covering that, too. So, look out for that. See how that goes. But there it is. Let me know your thoughts below, guys. Portal massively underdeveloped. We all know this. Hopefully they put some more resources and thought into it cuz some of the stuff the community is making is incredible. Drop a like, subscribe if you're new, and I'll see you next time. Bye-bye.
