Summary

Maximilian Dood spends a marathon stream checking back in on Street Fighter 5, reflecting on how the game evolved from launch chaos to a surprisingly fun late-era fighter. He ties the SF5 discussion to a good cause, spotlighting Battle for the Habitats and the Earth Week fundraiser, where Planet Play donates 100% of net profits and discounts cover a wide library including Street Fighter 5, Capcom Fighting Collection, and Capcom Arcade Stadium. Alongside the charitable angle, Max teases a Pragmata finish and pivots to Invincible Versus, sharing excitement for the story mode trailer and the game’s bright, cinematic presentation. He also digs into Capcom Fighting Collection’s breadth, noting the way it preserves classic titles while reuniting fans with long-dormant favorites. The stream then pivots to a hands-on look at SF5’s mechanics, roster, and the old-school vs. modern fight game conversation, looping in nostalgia for Dan, G, Vega, and other fan favorites. Between shoutouts to Earth conservation, the charity link in chat, and a candid take on why a new IP and retro revivals matter, Max crafts a personality-driven, discovery-forward stream that blends game history with current events. Throughout, he emphasizes accessibility and love for fighting games over grind, championing experiences that reignite that “first time” feeling. In short, it’s a livestream that doubles as a love letter to the genre—while also steering viewers toward a good cause and some exciting new media.

Transcending history and the world. A tale of dudes and souls eternally retold. We don't need the sh to see how far we've come on our journey. How far you have to go searching for deep in the night in my heart for that special life. Shower me with love. Show me with power. Got to get the song to carry on. Got to get the soul to carry on. Even my heart. Yo, what's up, dudes? Hi, chat. I've been out all day. Oh my god. I think I got cooked. Wait a minute. I'm kind of scared uh to look at this. Hold on. That's the pre-stream. Uh I'm a little fried. I'm a little fried. Literally getting cooked. Hi, chat. Um anyway, about to look like a dang lobster. Um so yeah, we're good. More stuff happened. Uh they actually showed off the invincible um the invincible story mode thing, which looks mad cool. We need to we need to go over that stuff because that's kind of crazy. They showed all the voice actors like all the kind of stuff that's happening. Alex Lee is apparently the main character. Um he's doing a crazy job sounding like the lead voice actor. Like holy hell. Um so yeah, outside of that, uh this thing that I've been talking about for the week that has sort of been uh planned and we've been working towards, let me just click over to it. Uh yeah, so I'm helping out um Battle for the Habitats. And for those of you that might not have seen some of the other streamers um that are helping out with this thing, um it's pretty much like a uh an awareness fundraising event. Uh you can do exclamation point, I think it's uh BFT, uh in the chat. We'll also get a pinned link over in the YouTube side. Um, and it promoted a a pretty cool opportunity which I'll get to. Uh, and the whole point of this thing is that uh the idea behind it is to like increase awareness and also um give people incentives without even paying in some reasons um to help out with this stuff which directly is involved around let me get the specifics all put into here. Um, Earth Week and the Earth Week is going on between April 22nd to like April 29th or so. Oh, no. We definitely got to finish Pragmata. We should do that tonight. Yeah, after after our little sponsored portion. We should do that. So, yeah, they were kind enough to like hit me up and um sponsor this thing. Their goal is to raise a million dollars in support of Oceanana and Rainforest Alliance. And they're going to do that by turning like gameplay and purchases um into community and community participation into direct impact and support because 100% of all of Planet Play's uh net profits from this are donated. So pretty cool effort. And it's like, all right, that's neat. I'm like, what games are included? What's going on here? Where are they? Funny enough, brings us to uh Street Fighter 5. And uh if you click the link, you get the Battle for the Habitats pay uh page. There's also a panel banner down below, chat. So if you want to help support this stuff, you know, you can go directly and uh you know, check out the the efforts down here and learn more about all of this if you want. Um but the cool part about all of these like fundraising efforts is that there's a lot of games in here that are on like mega sale that are like super discounted. And I'm like, are there any fighting games in here? Right? Are there any actual fighting games? And turns out one of the big ones is yeah, Street Fighter 5, uh the champion pass and the season 5 premium pass for 10 bucks, which is nuts. And there's a lot of other stuff on here. It includes other things like mobile game purchases, you know, and uh a lot of different games. So, please by all means check it out. Um it also includes uh other games that I have historically and put my whole chest behind like Capcom Fighting Collection, Capcom Arcade Stadium. There's a lot of great stuff in here amongst many others. There's a whole bunch of games in here that are supporting this effort. Um, which is man cool because it's all going into effectively like earth conservation type efforts and stuff for um I think I'm a part of team uh rainforest, but everything that's going into this stuff is all directly being donated to uh Oceanana and Rainforest Alliance. So anyway, uh that's the goal, you know, that's the whole thing that's out here. So, by all means, if you guys are curious about this stuff and you want to like pick up any of these games or or take advantage of any of these discounts, uh please go ahead and click the link that you're seeing in the chat uh for the Twitch site. There's a panel banner down below. Um and it was very kind of them to sponsor the stream to do stuff like this because I do appreciate the efforts um for the conservation efforts and also the fact that it includes some games that I think you guys would probably be into. Um, which led me to the question, which is like, brother, I haven't played Street Fighter 5, geez, since like maybe what, 2022 or something like that. It's been it's been quite a while. So, I figured what better of an opportunity to take than this to show this stuff off. you know what better opportunity to go back and just kind of look at some of the things in Street Fighter 5 because it's an interesting game uh that obviously we made an entire video series talking about the rags to rich's story that is Street Fighter 5 where it started off really bad. Um but it's been upwards of like four years since I've played it. So, I just want to go in and touch some characters and see like kind of what what everything was about and just go back and feel what it feels like and sort of remind myself. Did Street Street Fighter 6 improve literally everything in every way about this? Because we ain't talking about, bro, everybody's impression of Street Fighter 5, by the way, this ended up being a game that I stand instead of being a game that I emphatically warned people that, hey, you know, this is not good. This game's rough. And the first few years of Street Fighter 5's existence was uh yeah, it was brutal, man. This game was it was something else. Um it was unfun and uncool in every single way possible. Might have to move my whole layout over here. Hold on a second, chat. Uh yeah, let me let me just grab this whole dang thing. Oh, it's huge. No wonder. Hold up. Put my face up here. There we go. I haven't logged into this screen in forever. Why is my stick not working? What is happening? Excuse me. Um, and hold on a second. I got to put this into like full screen mode. BC B A. It's taking the controller. Ah. Uh. Dude, it's been so long since I have booted this up. It's honest neutral. Street Fighter 5. Honest low sweep into V trigger. Neutral. Low sweep. V triggered into death into stun. Webcam's very blurry. Is it? It's very blurry. I think you need new eyes. Just get new eyes. Go to the Go to the uh the optical doctor. Do it. Do it. Don't let Street Fighter 5 Brain Rock get to me. I I want to go back and see because here's here's the thing. As the biggest hater of this game in human existence, I also became a defender of it by the time it concluded because it was really good in the end. Dude, can you let me go? Oh my god. And it's telling me the entire history of everything that's in this game right now. That is crazy. I would be reading this for days. All right. The game is still updating. Only looks blurry when you're in small mode. I'm serious. No. No. So anyway, I had a I had a really good webcam is blurry in here. You guys are drunk. You guys are actually drunk. It's not true. I'm doing this. I'm checking this out. Guys are drunk. It's blurry. Why does it look like I'm in 720p? Huh? Why? What the hell is your guys's problem? That's fine. That's blurry, brother. Okay, hold on a second. You're blurry, chat. Properties source says 1440p. Does anything else look blurry? You weirdos. You weird blurry weirdos. If I made this bigger. A second. It is kind of blurry. That's weird. Hold on a second. Hold on a second. I You guys are driving me insane. You guys are literally going to drive me insane. The fact that you made me see that we're trying to we're trying to save the rainforest over here and Chad cannot take a 720p cam. Uh, disable. Maybe that did it. Hold up. I'm make it more blurry. I'm just going to make it smaller. That's what I'm going to do. Crunchy. You're crunchy, bro. Oh, it might have two different scale filters throughout. Hold up. Hold up. Hold up. Hey, I don't get it. I don't get it. Here, let's just put our put our faces over here. You know, you guys will be fine. You guys will You guys will live. Trust me. I'll just make it smaller. Um, so anyway, I'm going to put the big camera right in the middle. Oh my god, my stick still isn't working. This is crazy. Uh, let me go back and actually make this function. Jeez, dude. This is one of those games like where I don't know if I would come back to it personally, but there's a lot of stuff that was fun about this. Um, 4K me please. Oh, wow. It took over my whole monitor. Hold on, hold on, hold on. G. Yeah. Yeah. G is easily one of the heroes of this game. One of the grandmaster champions of Street Fighter 4. Full screen mode. Let's turn that off. Yeah. Hold on a second. Let's turn that off. There we go. Cool. And let me just full screen border last. Hello. And you guys on a signal. That's good. Have to wait for it to come back. Hold on a second. No, Minnie. I'm fine. I'm doing fine. You're doing good. Where did it go? It's not blurry now. We are fine. You guys are fine. For some reason, this is now not showing up. This is not a tech support stream. This is one of the reasons why I am getting new capture in the very near future. Not blurry enough. That's it. Nuclear option chat. Going to the nuclear option. Hold on a second. Need light. Okay, I have returned. I have returned. Watch this. Bam. Let me change the audio and we should be good. Welcome back. You guys can hear it. All right, we're good. We're good. We're good. That's honestly one of the reasons why I'm switching around my um my PC capture in the very near future. I just haven't had a chance. I've been too busy doing family stuff in the day because uh dude, screen cloning is the worst. It just leads to so many goofy problems that happen all the time, you know. Uh, let me get out of here. I have to back in here. My stick recognized more stick. So, yeah, I think this is what was it 10 bucks in the deal. It was very cheap. And to be honest, yeah, dude, Street Fighter 5 is definitely worth 10 bucks. There's there's absolutely fun to be had within the game. Um, even within single player options and its later versions, uh, at least by the time we left it, you know, and also some of the most fun characters in Street Fighter history. Some very fun characters, dude. Revisiting vanilla Street Fighter 5. How would I do that? Vanilla Street Fighter 5. No. No. Why would we do that to each other? There's like no way to do that. I'd have to find like an old physical copy or something like that. I'd have to find some wild physical copy. Play Ed. Ed. Well, I'm going to I'm going to play Oh my god. Why don't you recognize stick? What's wrong with you? Is this not plugged in? It is plugged in. Am I Am I What? Do you need it to be a PS five stick? Wait. Hey, that was what it was. Okay, gotcha. It's a Steam controller setting. Um, check this out. Yeah, if we're talking like the character that got me the most in this game and I really, really, really enjoyed. Oh, that's right. This stage is in the game. Ring of Arcade. Here's the funny thing. There she is. Dang. Game knows. Game legit knows. Look how big the roster ended up getting in this. bro, Dan was actually amazing. This is the best version of Dan ever. Uh, straight up. Easily the best. You know what has not aged super well is some of like the character modeling and designs. I feel like Chun Lee is like the best she's ever looked in 3D, but she's very plasticky. You know, some characters can look really good and others can look a little weird. That's a little weird. Um, this chick, dude, this was unbelievable. Wait a minute. Let me get the best costume. Where is it at? Uh, there it is. Let's fight. Dude, this chick is never coming back. That's what's crazy. I was waiting for you. She will never return, bro. That's what's She was pretty much limited to being in this game and I don't know if she's ever going to return in some way. I mean, didn't we think the same with Ingrid? Yeah, but you be quiet. Wow, my buttons are whack. She's from another game. That's why. Another game. Excuse me. She's from rival schools. Another game. What? So casually say this. I'm holding B. B to hold close. That is B. What's going on here? I'm stuck. Let me refresh this really fast. If the uh audio is delayed a little bit, hold it longer. There's a circle. Uh there. Wow. It really wanted me to hold it a long time. Um and remember this. Remember this stuff. Come on. You What the hell was it? This game feels different than I remember. Wow. Yeah. And you have to like time it like hard or else it doesn't work. What is it? Medium kick. This game, the game feels like a toned down Marble 3. This game, Marvel 3. Um, I do feel differences like immediately like there is a noticeable heft to at least the character I'm playing. At least a noticeable heft. Ingrid's in the background. Where's she at? There she is. Yeah. Yeah. That means that June is going to show up and uh Jyn is going to show up, you know, and Dealot. They're all going to show up. And the most the most requested character that is hopefully going to be in Street Fighter 6, Vega. Yeah. man. That's right. Combos feel so similar. So, what's funny about this is that Street Fighter 5 or Street Fighter 6 is pretty much a sequel to Street Fighter 5. And you you're like, "Duh, it's Street Fighter 5 and six." But like there's been no mainline brand new Street Fighter that is as like functionally similar. Like most of what Street Fighter 6 is are answers to issues that was in Street Fighter 5. There are so many similarities, dude. Like which is why Street Fighter 5 players are mostly like at home in Street Fighter 6. If you were really good at SF5, dude, you have a huge layup leg up in Street Fighter 6. some things are different and ironed out in ways that they were trying to like effectively fix Street Fighter 5. Um, but especially compared to like what Street Fighter 4 was as a fighting game, Street Fighter 3, Street Fighter 2, it's way different. Like those games are all practically completely different games. And five and six have a lot of similarities. Like a lot a lot of similarities. Yeah, Street Fighter 6 is pretty much the game Street Fighter 5 always should have been. Um, I agree. What's the uh Oh, that's right. That's right. You get big launchers off this guy. There's the launcher is down. Yeah. Come on. You and Yeah, you pretty much just get critical on this one. You don't get level one, two, or three. That's right. My god, it's been so long. She has like air fireball loops. I think so. Jeez, dude. This is so much more difficult to control. Yeah, it was something like that. Yeah, some of the graphical aspects of this game are big. Here's the thing. Where's the drive impact? Um, drive impact is replaced by this. this is the beginning of the counterhit era, Chad. This game started Counterhit era of fighting games where I can't even tell you how many games came after Street Fighter 5 that were effectively Hold on. Where's my big crush counter? Is that it with her? Um that were like massive counterhit games where everything's about landing this big counter hit or landing the unreactable throw. Right. So from this point forward, like after Street Fighter 5, this became such a big thing in almost every single 1v one that it's bonkers. Guilty Gear shifted in that direction. Massive counterhit game into like big strike throw game. Mortal Kombat 11 shifted in that direction. Massive counterhit game. Street Fighter like sort of focused throw mind game at the beginning. Um Grand Blue Fantasy Versus has a lot of that in it in some well like big counterhit combos and stuff. So it's weird. It's and also obviously Street Fighter 6, you know, Tekken 8. No, no, no, no, no. Tekken, Fatal Fury does it too. And I think for me personally, the one that I I vibe with the most, Fatal Fury, for some reason makes a lot of sense to me because the throws are somewhat more reactable. They're a little bit more reactable in that game. Uh, at least to me. I feel myself like not really throws don't feel that good in Fatal Fury. You know what I mean? And that's the big thing in like a strike throw fighting game. Throws are good. And it's crazy that we've been getting games like this that are effectively strike throw fighting games for how long now? Like nearly 10 years. But actually like 10 years, bro. Most of the big 1v ones we get are big strike throw games. Um let's see. Whoa. This stage stage. Yeah. Who's who's a good one? This one. She didn't come back to me at all move set. Move-wise, Sagot was fascinating in this, but I didn't like the way he played. Yurion was crazy fun. Like crazy fun. Let's do G. Yeah, this is uh Steve is going to be in a forever Steve's going to be in a forever character crisis because let me move my whole face down here. Hold on a second. Um because G will not ever like come back most likely. G will never return. So, you know, yeah, Yurion was very fun. Dan also ended up being very fun. Luke ended up being way too good cuz he kind of was more fashioned around being a Street Fighter 6 character, you know. Hold on. Where's G? Where' they put him in this roster? I did not like Kag, dude. I did not What was the What was the combo structure in this game? Was it like medium to heavy? Like crouching medium heavy was pretty much the route for everyone. Or crouching medium medium. Um, where is this [ __ ] This character was mad fun. Stupid fun. Chat, where's G? My brain. I don't see him. Bottom right. Bottom left. I'm covering him. That's the left. I am the world president. That's the good stuff. You go beyond the bound. Maximum president. Yeah, that's the good stuff. How about Gil? Gil was really fun, too. I liked him. This game was actually enjoyable to play. Like, here's the thing. This game I felt was legit unenjoyable to play in the first few years. Like I'm just like, well, I'm playing it in the hopes that it's going to get better, but it wasn't like like, oh, I'm looking forward to playing Street Fighter 5. That was not the case. I was like, I hope there's eventually cool stuff in this game that'll get me. Uh to being a game where it's like, yeah, we can play some Street Fighter 5, whatever. Um, how do I level up again? Uh, that's Fireball 4. This is DP. And it was like the command grab. What was unfun about the early parts of the game? It was it was a sauceless slog. Like characters had so little things they could do. So like every match looked the same. All the combos were ridiculously easy. So it just ended up being nothing but footsies. And and and granted, if you're talking about like availability of uh who's going to enjoy the game otherwise, there was like no content, you know? There was like nothing else to do. Uh is it down, [ __ ] Where is it? No, it's not. Hold on a second. What was it? I haven't played this guy since 2018. Um G. Oh, it's two. Yeah. Feel the power. Feel the power. And then this launches now. Shia. Wow. Yeah. Power to the earth. Power to the ass. This guy was mad cool, dude. And you can cancel out of it. Smug. Smug. Smug knew what he was doing. This character is hella fun, dude. And it's crushing one, two, uh, fireball forward. That's it. Let's go. The reason this character was like sauced out of his mind was that he had a level up mechanic which was literally this and he had like earth level 1, two, and three. Um, so because of it, you had to like prioritize getting there or like playing neutral. And you can do it at the end of things like one earth, you know, like this kind of stuff. You can do it at almost after any special. I just realized why I think this character is so cool. I just realized and it's because this guy is pretty much um what's his name? Can't remember the name of him. Soul bad guy. Hos. Yeah, he's Hos. He's actually Hos. One second, chat. Hold on. Uh let's see. Holy Order Q. I missed it. This What was the thing again? It was like this. This can drop this. Can you drop this? You're very hosike, right? What's the combo again? Is it DP with kick? Hey, thank you. And then I can go okay into that. Oh, can I not? Can I not or for juggle? Did that on accident? The dirt is DP kick into V trigger. DP kick into V trigger. Oh, that's right. Cuz you can V trigger. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Light it up. That Yeah. Okay. This was the disgusting part. So, here's here's what people kind of forget in Street Fighter 5 where it's like, yeah, I get it. It happens way more in Street Fighter 6. I get it. But once you got Vtrigger in this game, you kind of like threw out a massive like special or a massive normal immediately vtrigger canceled it and if you had the right hit, you can just like stun them leading to a kill. It all the good characters in the game and where the game eventually boiled down to was mostly that. So it ended up being like yesesh like skip neutral vt trigger big damage into you die which is one of the reasons why they made stun so specific in Street Fighter 6 which is weird because stun ends up being a uh kind of like a situational thing. It ends up being this thing that only works like in the corner. It only does this one thing in the corner. You know what I mean? So I don't know. It's like it is it is different. It is different. It's just that I don't they're they're two cuts of the same cloth. You know what I mean? They're like doing somewhat similar things is what I find funny about it. Stun in Street Fighter 6 is super contextual. It is. What is the combo? Anybody got a good one? It's like DP this and I can cancel. I'm in I'm in level three right now. Forgot about how the end flourishes he does after a special. Yeah, he like after any one of these he does like a dance pose. It's mad cool. What comes after this? HP rush HK rush punch. So It was like down HP. I did not do that on purpose. Light it up. And then after that, could you do fireball forward kick? DP punch and a DP kick. How does it work? Do I have to be in V trigger for it? I think I have to be in V trigger. Now you can do ex wheel kick. That was it. That's right, dude. The inputs of this game. Got to be mad careful. The buffer system is extremely lenient. I I corner stole the damage, brother. The damage. And then can I do super after that? The input buffer in this game messed up with you a lot. Wait, I got counter hit on. Hold on a second. Uh, so speaking of counter hit, bam. Like was this crush counter also step aside now? forward kick. I can't remember. Yeah, they end up nerfing these a ton. Before they gave you like unscaled damage. It was disgusting. You kind of threw out your biggest highest priority button into unscaled damage and you would just die. It was insane. But they they fixed that over time. They made it so that like if because the game had a um a scaling system where it's like mediums beat lights but heavies beat mediums, you know. Yeah. Yuri and stand HP. He'd just be doing this to you, just chopping the [ __ ] out of you for so long. It's fun. It's interesting. It's different, but you know. Dang it. Light it up. I have the power of G. Okay. Power to the earth. Light it up. Yeah. Using the EX there. I think you just got to do like power to the earth. Light it up. I have the power of It's so weird to think that there's like no level threes in this game. That's what That's what Street Fighter 6 has messed me up with that you have to pick between your V trigger, your V skill. Oh, I pop it. 4 HP V skill barrier. Um, oh my god, this button. Oh my god, that's right. Let me do this. Hold on a second. I'm so spoiled. And only in VT can he throw it. Okay. Okay. Okay, hold on. Um, attack data. I need to turn off counter. Not random, dude. Chill. Either way, there's a lot of fun to be had in this. It's just it is it it is the game, you know? So, I think that's what Street Fighter 6 is doing where it's like medium to heavy. And this game was all about like medium medium, right? Son of a [ __ ] Light it up. I have the power of sand to crouch HP only works on counter hit. Yeah. And that me. Stop getting stunned, fool. the power. Good lord. And that's like low damage, dude. Some characters ended up doing crazy ass damage by the end. Yeah, I still like him though. I like the way he plays and I like that he is a kind of like a future version of Q. I dig that about him because Q was always a character that deserved to get like a really cool play style. And you get it. You get it. I I honestly feel like if there's one of the characters that is like lightning in a bottle in Street Fighter 5, uh it ended up being G. Everyone sort of loved him. You know, he was good. He was not like god tier, but everyone sort of loved him. I want to go back to this character. Hold on a second. I want to go back here. Let me see what I feel about this. This character was like made for me, dude. and I didn't end up liking him very much. Um, feel like Capcom was targeting me personally uh when they put this guy in here. If I could find him. There he is. Felt like I was being targeted personally with this character. Allow me a moment to entertain you. Colleen, I forgot this character existed. Holy moly. It seems to be getting chilly. Oh my god, I forgot she existed. Yeah. And they at the beginning he was I I think that's my problem is that I played him at the start and I'm like he doesn't seem very interesting. Like he had he didn't have any of the really cool transform combos. Right. If you guys did not realize he's he's just strider. God, look how fast that is now, dude. Wow. Now he got way better. Wow, that's crazy. So, you'll see he's also Bushin Rryu. He's the beginning of Bushin Ryu, but they tie the story in with Strider now that like the Strider started with Bushin Ryu before they goes to the future. What's his uh target combo in the air? Uh strike. Final patch had some goofy teleport combos. Still a mad He's still mad cool. Where's Where's Swing? Where's Swing? Where's Swing? Interesting. Fireball back. Fireball back. Kick. Wow. Graham is not where I would think it would be, huh? Oh, it's old. Duh. That's why. So, yeah. He just gets strider swings with no sword, you know. Can I like Oh, I can. But he's two characters in one. Literally two completely different move sets. He's got the old classic like guy bush and stuff. That didn't work. What did What did this do? This make this stuff faster? Strike. Nope. Let's turn off stun. Hold on a second. I don't know. You know what? I'm already pressing buttons on this guy and I'll be real. I don't know if I love him. Old old stand LP goes into crouching quarter circle back. Okay. Gotcha. So, you need to do Whoa. Jeez. That must be it. There you go. And then from that you get [ __ ] right? Cuz you can do launcher. Hold up. Hold up. Hold up. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. This is starting to come back to me. Oh, stun. Turn this off, my dude. Chill. Does it end to light Graham? What special do I do here? It's back to old um young Zeu. I'm sorry, old Zeu to young. And uh cool. You can get L Graham or transform into H palm. Gotcha. Let's try that. Buffer is very weird in this, right? Oh, these are two different moves. What the hell? MP. Okay. Strike, man. There's got to be something good here, right? It was stuff like that, you know? It was It was interesting stuff like that. I need to figure out what the good [ __ ] Oh, that's already got chop chop. MP MK214K LK. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, that's basic. And I don't think he gets anything else here. Oh, that's right. It lingered and was plus on block. Yeah. Okay. Let's go now. Watch and learn. And does it change when you were young man? Time to end this. Not really. This is He's so sick. So, here's the thing that I love about this character. after nearly every button or every special. Like, look at the cool ass poses he does. after this. Nate, you know, there's so many flourishes. He's so goddamn extra. Look at all these extra freaking animations, dude. So, this ends up really being a thing. Like, we start noticing this right around this season. Like, G was the first character we remember seeing it where it's like he does these like snap dances and all this kind of stuff and it's like, bro, what? It's really sick, man. Some characters really hit in Street Fighter uh in Street Fighter 5. They they they actually have really cool and high quality elements. And they eventually kind of took it out, right? Yeah. Yeah. So cool. Eventually, Street Fighter puts this pretty much in like Street Fighter 6 puts this like in all of its characters, all these like animation flourishes and stuff. I still feel like I don't love his move style, his move set. I don't personally love him. I think what I liked about Strider the most in terms of him being a character is that he was a mid-range, right? He was extremely good at mid-range in most games because of Sword. Not particularly great in long range. Pretty decent up close, you know. bro, these stages, the stages bringing me back to 2015. Cammy was a freak. Cammi is as much of a nightmare in this game as she is in Street Fighter 6. It's like the same thing. She's just as much of a nightmare, dude. Drive rush felt like a solution to the heft of characters a little bit. They wanted to give like you got to understand what Drive Rush is and why it is chaotic. Most games that are raw ass Footsie games will have neutral skip in some way. some like big crazy neutral skip or some way to like avoid some big thing. So, they're trying to like add chaos to it because if the game was strictly without it, you know, it would be what it is. Does it need tuning? Yeah, I think it still needs tuning, but um some characters are better at than others, that's for sure. Bison looked cool in this game. They were trying. I will say one thing that I have a big criticism of. a genius like me needs discipline. I think the presentation of the game is off. Right. The this is like the first Street Fighter where everything about the presentation of everything in this game is effectively esports, right? where it's like they almost forgot that Street Fighter is like a video game, right? So, so much of the game even before the gold theming which was like around arcade edition very much felt like it was esports. Hey, there it is. The greatest nerf in human history. Dan was crazy fun in this game, bro. The greatest Nerf ber ever. Was this one like What's wrong? What's wrong? What's wrong? You could like cancel the taunt into things as well. Good lord, dude. You can do so many wild things. Oh, the fireball was buffed. That's right. That's right. How many times do we get an enhanced fireball? There it is. Hey, he has an electric. I don't think that's an electric. I think it's random, right? I think it's actually just completely random whether Hey, whether or not it's going to happen or not, that that was the nerf. The the nerf was that by him having normal speed fireballs, he had infinites and he gets to keep his infinite until he gets a random fireball that makes it drop out. So, that was like their clever solution for this. Really? Oh, it's back. That's why. What is it like? Ah, this kind of stuff. Yeah, it does feel like a naturally slower paced game, you know, just in general. Stand HK, cancel crouch HP. Wow, look at all these flourishes, bro. Many head. Who wants some more? Yeah. It had footies though. I mean, does Max ever read his chat? ban that guy. Um, if there is a Street Fighter. No, dude. The Bro, this game was not all footsies, brother. What are we talking about? This game was close range guess for your life. Like, was it not? Am I grossly remembering misremembering what the game was? It was close range get shimmy and then die or close range and then take seven throws in a row. Maybe that was a point of the game and not the end part of the game. But holy [ __ ] dude. What's wrong? No. Then then then we're just saying what I'm talking about isn't true. That's Street Fighter 6. Did I remember playing a lot of this game, at least a decent chunk over like the six years it was out and always coming back to it. Um, yeah. Do we forget that characters Wait a minute. Did we forget this? The speed of character dashes. Hold up. Hold up. Hold up. By the way, I'm defending this game. I think there's a lot of fun stuff in this, but did we forget like that some characters could dash in so fast and then just like kill you. Jesus Luke, bro, I'm always ready for a fight. I'll show no mercy. Yeah, this was the first um I'd say personally the first fighting game where I remember frame data being more important than ever where everything was about being plus two on some [ __ ] Right. Jesus Christ. And again, big stubby normals, right? Like everybody was playing at like this range and just whiffing buttons like crazy. Like this was a lot of the footsies of the game was just even at pro level was just whiffing stuff and then just hoping it goes into something and if something hits it's like it would eventually cancel into some big [ __ ] you know? There was there was no lingering hit boxes on stuff so people could not like with punish like consistently. I think people forget about the stubby normals, which is why I was happy with Street Fighter 6 because normals became big again where it's like, "Okay, bro. Wow, you play somewhat similar." Yeah. And then you would just fish with a heavy because of the pri the priority system. That's what I was talking about with Uran Urion earlier. I don't think that changed, right? I think that ended up being the same Do you not have the target combo anymore? Whoa. Where the hell is this? Take that. Huh. Weird. It is funny. A lot of this stuff is really weirdly similar to Street Fighter 6 on Luke. It is funny. Yeah. Could you fish this for V trigger? No. That's what it was. Gotcha. Gotcha. I think Luke feels interesting to me. There's that. Yeah. I think what what people are getting at is that what people didn't realize is that there was a a lot of insane guess heavy stuff in Street Fighter 5. Like a ton of guess heavy stuff. There's also a ton of guess heavy stuff in Street Fighter 6. There's a reason for that. The games are very similar. Like the games the the the the overall like functionality of how like frame data works and combo structure and like a lot of [ __ ] is pretty similar until you you get drive gauge which is a bigger element where you have to really be concerned about drive gauge. You got to be concerned about when [ __ ] is building how much they have like does this lead to a checkmate situation and I always kind of like that you know even though it needs it needs freshening up why though cuz it's made by the exact same people. It's literally made by the Street Fighter 5 team. Yeah. Why are they the same? Because it's made by the same people, dude. And those people were hearing all the concerns and criticisms that people had for like five plus years of Street Fighter 5, and they're like, "All right, next game we're fixing all that. We're fixing all of it." Oro was nuts in this game. He's one of the later characters, you know? He's one of the later ones. Ooh, this stage is great. I want to see Akuma. Yeah, you will feel my wrath. Oh, Geese's design in this game was mad weird. His proportions looked mad weird. Why is Max's camera different? Because um we're working with Battle for the Habitats today. Chat exclamation point um BFFT. There's also a uh we can put a pinned comment up on YouTube that'll link to it. Uh the whole point is that we're doing a fundraising effort for uh Battle for the Habitats, which is all around like this team um team Oceanana and team Rainforest. It's all about like pretty much earth conservation efforts and Street Fighter 5 is on sale through it. So, if you buy the game uh through the link or check out many of the other games that are available, they all go directly towards those efforts and I can bring up the thing. Uh hold on a second. I close it. Where's the link? Hold on a Yeah, check out Battle for the Habitats. It's going on uh until June 5th. And if you buy these games, they directly go towards 100% net profits. So it's we'll be checking out some other ones in here. Um, specifically, I really like Capcom Fighting Collection, but there's a ton of games, bro. Uh, mobile games, add-ons to mobile games, like regular games, a ton of new games, ton of like older games. And Street Fighter 5 is in here with like all of this stuff for 10 bucks. I think I actually have some extra codes because I didn't need a code cuz I have the game, you know? That's right. This is where they give him double roundhouse. Yep. Be how I do. Wait. Oh, they changed. Demon flip is just fireball forward kick. Yeah, this button. And it was uh flip into this. Yeah. do I have to do flip tatsu? Yeah, that also worked. oh that's right. He got a he got a pose parry. He got the thing that Ryu had. Whoa. That's right. You didn't do triple lights. Is it flip into air fireball? Aha. Yes it was. So yeah. Long story short, um I'm actually a defender of this game. I get pissed off when people are like, "Man, Street Fighter 5 is just ass and it's a it's a terrible game." And I'm like that. No, you're talking about launch Street Fighter 5 and there ain't going to be launch or early season Street Fighter 5. There ain't going to be nobody that disputes that. Ain't no one is going to be like, "Man, that game was just goated." I I don't know how. Um but by the time this game finished, characters got really interesting. the system mechanics got worked out quite a bit and it ended up being pretty fun. Like it actually turned from a game that like I was sort of like, "Okay, so we have to play the new Street Fighter update. Let's just see what it's like." You know, maybe it'll maybe maybe I'll find some fun in it to being legit really fun. So sick. So sick. They just kept adding and adding. Yeah, they did a good job. The sunflower mod on. Oh, wait. Hold on a second. Could you Oh, you couldn't. Whoa. That's right. He had four HP. This was a throw. Huh. Someone share the link. Yeah, let's get it pinned. Um, hold up, hold up, hold up. I'll get it pinned on the YouTube site as well. Oh, I got to make this shorter. Hold up. Hold up. Does it actually fit? It's funny the YouTube message size can only get so big. I wonder if that's something I can fix, I'll put this over there. Yeah, there's the link in the YouTube chat. If somebody can pin the link in the uh Twitch chat, that'd be great. Appreciate it. Uh can I? Cuz of course you could. cuz of course you could. They they scale the heck out of that damage. Now, this game is colorful and bright and cartoony. Yeah, I do think that I do agree with you. Street Fighter 5 or Street Fighter 6 ends up becoming a lot more um realistic looking. Yeah. Doesn't work. whoa. Wait a minute. And do you have to be in V trigger? You needed to be in V trigger to do his demon. I forgot about that. Was there a shortcut in this one? There is. It's the Street Fighter 4 shortcut. It's jab, jab, forward, uh, light kick, heavy kick, or heavy punch. Boy, is it really? What the interesting? I guess have to plink it right on the same frame. Yeah, still a cool demon. I like it a lot. Yeah, I think Akuma was one of the cooler looking characters in this game. He was before they started doing all the animation flourishes though. You notice that? Like after Tatu, he just sits there, right? He just he returns to default for DP, he just returns to default like they they in season two they did not really get to all of that kind Wait, was this the end of season one? They didn't really get to the end doing all that stuff yet. It was like around Sagot and G where they were like, okay, mega flourishes, you know? Anyway, remember when we were like, bro, they would never let us overhead into Vrigger. That'd be too powerful. And now Street Fighter 6 has drive rush into massive overheads into full combos. Overheads are lows. If there's one thing I kind of appreciate about Street Fighter 6 is that they were like, "All right, so all the goofy limitations that was present in Street Fighter 5 with between systems and stuff like that." Nah. So like the the drive system just lets you pretty much do whatever the hell you want. like whatever you want. Just go nuts, you know. Just go nuts with stuff. Zakuro was season 4. You're right. Yeah, cuz they ended on season five. Or did they have season six? I can't remember. I think season five was supposed to be the end. Sakura did animate a little weird. Yeah, I I think she did. Hold on. Sakura and Cody are two of like the examples. I like Sakura's design a lot though Sakura. Yeah, let's go. Totally. Now, let's begin. Sakura was season 3. Okay. Yeah, season 6 is technically just Luke cuz he was added late. exercise. Yeah. She was always like, "Yeah, like always flipping and dipping." I think they fixed to Sakura's face later, right? Some characters had some funny ass looking faces. some vibe [ __ ] There's one thing I I I you could get by the end of Street Fighter 5 was that it didn't feel like these guys had a lot of money, you know? It didn't feel like, hey, like these guys just have all the money in the world to make this game good. No, no, no. It felt like they were extremely constrained on budget and they did they pushed it to the limit. Like they did whatever they could to make money through costumes and stuff like that, but they had to because the game was massively underfunded it felt like. So, I don't know. To me, it's like I kind of appreciate that where it felt like the devs were really trying like hard cuz they they they wanted Street Fighter to be good. It was just difficult to do that. That not going to happen. Nice. We blame Sony. No, no, no, no. We We blame no persons individually. We don't blame any individual persons whatsoever. Absolutely not. Street Fighter 5's launch is not the result of any individual person and their efforts to practically sabotage Capcom fighting games. Not at all. Nice. Cool. play online. It still works online. I'm I'm trying to find a character I like. That's crazy that you can't can't get three confirms in this game, bro. Do I have Does she not have the bop bop? Does it lead to a dive kick? It's V trigger two. Ah, that's right. Uh, another thing that I think is way better in Street Fighter 6, uh, people forget that they took away moves that characters have just had forever. And they stuck the moves behind limited usage in either Vtrigger or Vcale. So, you had to choose, okay, well, I want to play this version of this character. The only way I can use the moves that I remember and enjoy is by popping the trigger, which was like that never felt good, dude. That like every single because we had perspective of previous Street Fighter games that felt always very bad. Sounds like MKX. No, no, MKX chat. You were confusing MKX with MK11. MK11 did that. MKX gave characters base move sets a ton of stuff like everything that they normally have and then the variations added way more. They added a bunch of other things on top of it. MK11 was the one where characters were super baseline. It was either a combo variation or like a zoning variation or this or that and characters had like three moves and that was like wo MKX characters were kided. You can play characters without variations in MKX and they were so good. Yeah. And also, yeah, when you played a variation of Mortal Kombat, it wasn't limited to like, okay, you can do it a few times now. No, it wasn't that. So, anyway, that just never felt good, which is why I give Street Fighter 6 a lot of credit. Street Fighter 6 ended up giving the characters more moves than they've ever had. Granted, right now the game's in a state where the system mechanics are so powerful that it sort of like takes over and makes some of that stuff not as important, which is I think should be tuned. I think that stuff should definitely be adjusted a little bit as we get into the game some more. But to be real, it it feels way better. There's a reason why Street Fighter 6 feels better as a game because you feel like your characters are capable. You feel like you're doing actually cool stuff and you're doing new things with characters that you've never even seen before in some situations, which is like, okay, this feels good. You know, this does feel good. Both games have the problem where they all feel a little homogeneous, but at least Street Fighter 6 like to me is a bit more interesting a little longer. Granted, by the time like dude, Street Fighter 5 was in its third year, the game changed a lot. Like, the game had already gone through a lot of changes. And Street Fighter 6 hasn't. It just hasn't. I don't like Sakura very much. She's okay. She's okay. Um, this was a pretty stage. Metro City Bay Area, bro. But we have to remember the the biggest eyesore and also kind of an interesting character. But the eyesore I don't I think I went into training mode and I played this dude for all but maybe 30 minutes and I was like I think I'm good. I just think I'm good. I don't know if I need to play any more of this guy. I don't know if we got to put if I need to put any more time into playing this character. And he dominated the chat. This [ __ ] would just two touch you every round like right. He would two touch stun you and it took like a while for them to fix that [ __ ] Like he was evil. character was like the epitome of all the problems that was wrong at the game by the time he came out. He was insane, bro. And he also has like goofy looking I don't get it. I don't get it, man. The guy practically looks modded. Like, I don't get it, dude. I don't Oh my god, dude. I'm going back and I'm looking at this guy now and he looks modded. Oh my god. Okay, hold up. All right. Well, hold up, hold up, hold up. Can I do where's where's the launcher? He has barissa charge normals. He did, right? So it's like stand send stand HP stand. Does he does he actually have charge normals? He has the flex that gee eventually gets beater one. Bam. Yeah, this would crush counter and then you die like What was his big combo? It was um Hold up. Hold up. How the [ __ ] that reset swamp? He had a run. I forgot. I need to set a reset button. Hold on a second. This game was something, dude. what? Reset A. Touchpad A. No, you're going to crash. Oh my god, I forgot about this. He has an overhead. And he he's he's a he's a bruiser. He's technically a juggernaut. Like he doesn't have a command grab, does he not? Don't think he did. Does he have a command grab out of this? That's the one. And it's so lame. It's so lame, Am I missing one? Half circle back. Hold up. Half circle back kick. Well, that one's cool. I like this one. Could you do things after this? Of course you could. So I can do Abigail punch. You can't run away. God, I I think it is truly the most offensive looking character I've seen in a fighting game. Like it's close. We played tattooed assassins. All right, so that's really bad. But in terms of like large budget, relatively speaking, like big studio, you know, Gigas looked pretty rough in Tekken. That [ __ ] don't hold a candle to this guy, man. Like, Hakan animated well and he was funny, right? I I I'm not I'm not against this like Hakan doesn't look cool. No, I thought he looked okay. He was He was He was goofy, that's for sure. But so is everything in Street Fighter 5. Dude, it was a goofy looking game, dude. What? So there's this. Can I cancel that into that? Back on. What does this do? Fireball forward. Yeah, that's not working. Interesting. What does your V trigger do? Just charge punches. So I can do like can I do this into [ __ ] He's got charge back HP loops in V trigger one. Ah oh that's right because it only works there. Crush you. Can you cancel out of it? No. you something like that. N it's a hard link. Gotcha. Not doing a huge charging forward move, but it might be in V trigger. Um, we mean this. Jeez, dude. Is Max playing on low? Does Street Fighter 5 look like that? Playing on low. I do see what you mean. Like the stage is rendering in and out. Yeah, the ground texture is acting weird. Hold on a second. Let's go fix it. That's got to be a setting. The floor is all freaking battle settings. And I think I I I also get it. Like Street Fighter 5 was a game where a lot of people got big into fighting games, you know, like really big into fighting games. And it makes sense. Like there was a lot to enjoy about this. Where the hell is it picture quality? If we could bump all of this up. Yeah, just do that. Oh, the filter. Oh, this was neat. Chat, you remember when they added this? Dude, this was when they truly were giving a [ __ ] They added this way late into the game. Like way late. You feel that more people enjoyed four than five? Well, yeah. Four was a game that was like beloved, dude. Arena of Fortune 5 was was beloved by some. So they added this filter to the game and I remember it looking a bit better. I think characters need more outlines. They have very finite outlines in this. Let me just pick Ken. Who is this Puerto Rican man? Who's the Who? What? Oh, they really Hey, I was waiting for They went ham on this poor dude. They really did. Hey, the best version of Ryu. Wow. Ad style. Hell yeah. He wow. You go beyond the I think you can do the fondoshi version of him too, right? Boy howdy. chat, there's a reason why I enjoy going back and playing Street Fighter 6. It's not a game, we can't play any fighting game all the time, but there's a reason whenever we play Street Fighter 6, I enjoy it. And it's because I went through six years of this se six, seven. I went through about seven years of this and it was it took so long for things to get to a point, you know? It took so long to get to a point where the game's like kind of cool. This I actually don't like this filter. I don't like it. Shorty again, man. Look at these normals. This ended up becoming Ken's stand HP. Huh. So, he pretty much gets tatsu, fireball, DP. Is that it? He doesn't overhead. There's toe tap, right? So, was it back? Wow. It's so crazy being able to corner seal. You can. That's right. They end up giving that to He generally prefers 3 to6 five to six gameplay. I mean, I can see why people would like it. Um, what stops you from playing it? That's my question. People still play this. Like I saw Steve jump on and no kidding, he he found people. He wasn't he wasn't getting like ranked matches all the time, but people were playing between PlayStation Oh, the net code stuff. Yeah, that's right. That's right. Ah, that stuff was neat. New thing exists. Hard to go back. I get what you mean. Yeah, he had the overhead kick stuff eventually, too, which was kind of neat. You wish this Ken outfit was in Street Fighter 6. Everybody wants outfits in I think we can tell that like the outfits in this game are cool, but they're not the fidelity of Street Fighter 6 as a game is just so much higher. BT2 into super. Um, oh, you could interesting. You can get like multiple of these. Ken, what the hell is your super? It's with kicks. Jesus. Yeah, Ken feels a lot different in this game, dude. Like a lot different. What I like about Ken in uh Street Fighter 6 as well. He's a bit closer to 3S Ken instead of Street Fighter 4. This one still feels Street Fighter 4 kenish. You know, is crossplatform hard to add. This game could use it. This game has crossplatform, man. Um, this game was only on PlayStation though. On PlayStation and PC, no Xbox, no Nintendo versions, so it was PlayStation only or PC. You know, this this was in that era where Street Fighter was like PlayStation exclusive or PC. You know, couldn't do EX in a V trigger. Oh, you could. Time to finish this. Wow, that does work. Did this get roll back? It has early era Capcom roll back, so it has issues to say the least. It has issues, but you need a couple of decent connections with each other, and it can be okay. I actually don't like the filter very much, believe it or not. I remember the filter doing it for me back in the day, but I don't like it very much. I don't think it's that cool. Graphic settings. Filter settings. The Pixel one looks mad weird. It's not even worth really using. Yeah, the filter's kind of rough. Uh, was there combo challenges? Battle trials. Ah, they separated these like this. And we did all of these. Like how it saves that. Oh, and the previous combo trials are for different versions of the game. I see. Cuz they didn't want to up. So, pretty much the game goes back and it's like, "Hey, so here's just the old trials." Yeah, I remember that. So, these technically don't all work. This character was mad fun, dude. Seth and Gil. This was the beginning where I was like, "This game's getting really interesting. Same way Ultra Street Fighter 4 did it. You're right. You're right. There's goofy things in here, but there's also some mad cool things, dude. Teach you the ways of street fighting. I suck ass, bro. I don't I can't teach you the ways of anything. All I can do is introduce you because I don't have time to like invest into anything individually. All I can do is introduce you to cool stuff, right? That's my that's been my goal for a long time is that instead of like teaching you the ways, I think the more important thing of of me sitting here just teaching you is getting you to fall in love with something so you don't feel like you're being taught, right? And I that that's why I don't really I ended up not liking uh directly teaching people especially at like an entry level like games like they're a science and I I don't think some people will vibe with that but the majority of people I didn't fall in love with fighting games for that dude. I had to go back and think of the ways that I fell in love with this stuff. What happened was I found characters that I loved. I found things in games that I loved and I just liked it so much that I naturally would want to investigate and learn more. So, there's a billion resources on YouTube now that are like tutorials for games, like 1 billion. And back when I first started doing it, there wasn't much because teaching new players was shockingly not a thing that many people were doing, right? The FGC was sort of insular back then. So making like tutorials for games, there just wasn't a lot of those resources, especially in video format in the early 2010s, which is why I was doing it. So now it's all over the place. So to me, it's like I like dialing it back even a little bit more and instead showing people the cool stuff that's in games because I think I think people are capable enough for like fi find something that you fall in love with and then from that point forward, you will find resources. I want I just want to get you to fall in love with something. I don't care whatever fighting game it is, dude. It could be ones that I don't even like. There's a reason why I continued to play Street Fighter 5 and even games like MK11 when they got new things because ideally, man, someone could get really into Cody, you know? Someone could get really into G. Someone could someone could get really into a character that I sort of liked, like G, for example, or I want to play Hold on a second. I want to play Akira's combos or Akira. The whole point is that you will make those connections in your head. you I don't you don't have to go out of my way to do it. I'll just you'll just naturally come across some neat stuff and be like, "Man, I love the way that character looks." Dude, that's what happened to the majority of people with Guilty Gear. Like Guilty Gear got a new character designs and all this stuff with Guilty Gear Strive and people were just on board with that [ __ ] man. Um what's pen? I think that's it. What was it? This. Ah, that's right. She had the same thing. Buddy, I need uh view challenge. No, I don't want to see it. What is the the display commands? Thank you, God. Stop it. That's right. Her DP is cool. Yeah, Akira was one of the coolest characters on here, dude. remember how shocked I was when she first announced because she was going to be a Marvel 3 character. Like I have to remind people of like the ancient history. Um, you don't know her moves by name. [ __ ] I don't know the move of any characters. What the [ __ ] The name of moves? I don't even know the names of Fulgore's moves in KI. I named them [ __ ] I still call the two the two [ __ ] that Gargo summons in Killer Instinct Jerry and Larry. I refuse to give them their original names. I refuse. I'm not a commentator, bro. That that those [ __ ] are Jerry and Larry forever. Uh, crouch HP. What was I saying? You distracted me. Ooh. What are we talking about here? HP. Oh, you can just mash it out. Okay. Okay. So, she was a Marvel 3 character. Quit saying [ __ ] chat. She was a She was originally going to be a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 character. She was at the top of a fan request list uh before Marvel 3 even came out where they were taking uh fan like feedback and suggestions back on Cap Community when that existed. and she was at like near the top where somehow like Akira from Project Justice Rival Schools was there. Crazy enough, the Capcom guys know this. So, by the time the end of Street Fighter 5 happens, they add a fan requested character that goes back literally like over 10 years, which is nuts. And it's like, yeah, I would thought they would add uh Kioske or Batu or someone like that. No, dude. It ended up being Akira, which was crazy cuz that that is the craziest deep cut. crush counter. You guys miss crush counter? I miss it. Actually, that shit's still around, bro. Crush counter still lives through punish counters now. Like, it never went away. It acts a little bit different, but that [ __ ] never went away. Hey man. Um. Oh, it's craft light punch. Ah. Huh? That's right. She has this. Wow. It's funny. Functionally, like you do combos the exact same way in this game cuz the input buffer is so lenient to Street Fighter 6. Like you just double tap the buttons and that [ __ ] almost comes out every single time. That's what's funny about this. They play very similar. No need to plink. I just double tap everything. Um Oh, that's right. She has this up. Up, please. I come. Uh, I got to do light kick, light punch, medium punch, heavy punch. So, uh, uh, uh, okay. Forward heavy punch, please. Where's it? Forward heavy punch. Oh, it's forward heavy kick. I'm a fool. I think I have to really stagger this. Son of a [ __ ] Um, light kick, light punch, medium punch, heavy punch, forward heavy kick. Yeah, they're doing the pop out, right? It's got the weird pop out. Uh, let me see if I can do it faster. No, they're doing the pop out. Brother, come on. The HP to HK is faster. There we go. Smash it. That was usually the answer in these old ones or in this game. It was just mash it harder. Um. Whoa. Uh. [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] ink. Heavy kick. Uh uh uh. Wow, dude. Hey, you. Hey. Okay. Do it. Do it. Why does the camera feel like it's a bit low? Uh in this one, his characters are stubby. Standing H B trigger. It begins. Where's restart? He slowly walks out. Jumping HP. I think I have to back up. I've honored my responsibility. Where do you want me to go with that? I want to see cross. It's not a cross up. Back dash. Wait. And then you just wait it out. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. [ __ ] Sorry. But I like Whoa. Not that fast. Chill, lady. I accept. You could do that so late. You can do that so late. Um uh uh uh. Damn. I think I have to really delay the fireball back age. I think that's it. mother of god. I have to really delay it. I think I have to cross them up. I've honored my I'm going to say I cross them up. Let's find out. I'm saying I cross them I have to charge it longer. down HP. Oh, I don't need to do the charge again. Damn it. It's actually not a cancel. You just go into this [ __ ] You just go directly into it. Honestly, I love Damn it. This one's tough. Manual timing. Right into it. And Okay. Okay. It's not the juggle after, it's the juggle during then you blammo. Oh, wow. That whipped. I have to do it a little bit later. Mother, when does this end? Ah, you can mash out of it to end it. Not two, just one lady. Ah, it's got to be ex. Okay. I have to wait a little bit. Fireball forward at HP, not HK. There we go. There we go. These took some timing. Yeah, these take a little bit of timing. Um, jump H, stand H. Whoa. I don't even remember this V trigger, dude. What the heck? What the heck? Um, I did not use this one at all. Wow. Okay, this is the stance. Ford HP. Wow, you can cancel out of them. this one is weird. Hold on a sec. What does this even look like? Oh, we've been streaming. Oh my gosh. I've been streaming this for way too long, chat. We got to We got to move on. I got stuck blazing Street Fighter 5 and finding cool stuff. We got to check out another game in this bundle. Oh my god, I've been streaming for two hours. Thanks a lot, brother. Let's see the last one. Was that Is this the final final one? Oh, this is the final final one. I want to see it again. She sort of has an agent. Sort of. Not doesn't work the exact way. Let's go, brother. See you. It's a lot, brother. So, yeah, this game's neat, dude. There is some neat stuff about it. It takes some getting used to. Um, it is a naturally more slower, I'd say, more methodical game on surface level, but when you actually started to get good at it and watch it at a high level, it's not it's actually like unreactably fast. Um, whiff punishing is nearly impossible. like it's so hard to just properly whiff punish anything in this game, which was one of the things that made it just feel like a bit flaily, especially when you're at mid-range and stuff. But they saw a lot of fun. There's still a lot of neat things that are in it. All the story mode stuff that they the story mode itself isn't particularly the best, but the arcade endings were legit good. And this was these were very, very interesting additions to the game that I liked. I thought this stuff was neat. It was fun seeing the endings. They're very similar to what they do in Street Fighter 6 as well. And not to mention, there's like one billion costumes. I think there's actually I don't know if this version of the game has all the costumes, but there's like legit one billion costumes. Next up are my brother's suggestions. Yeah, I don't think this version has every single one. Some of them can still be unlocked. Damn, that is right. They did that. They did that. They did this, too. Was this a hint, chat? Was this a hint? Was this a hint? This was amazing. Official acknowledgement. We We played Akuma with a mod that looked like this when he first came out. I think Bunky Gigabuster was the modder that did that and then they made it real later on. It's pretty sick. so many skins, bro. Now people are like, "Please give us DLC." Now they're just screaming for it. Please give us DLC. NASCAR Ed. Holy [ __ ] The Pyron skin was banned. That is was banned, brother. This is actually an amazing skin. Look at the size of the scroll bar, dude. Look at that. I am not even a I'm about a quarter of the way through this. That is insane how much there was. And a good chunk of them are included in the version, I believe. Dude, this version of Jury just has no pants. She's wearing a whole jacket. Just no pants. They should just name that no no pants jury. That's the That's the gimmick. Yeah, dude. There was a lot of clipping in these costumes. I remember that. It was almost like an engine problem. Holy moly. That is great, chat. For those of you that don't know, this kept this game alive, right? Like this effectively kept this game afloat was the costumes. And it was 10 years ago now. I can I think I can talk about that. It was 10 years ago. Um I pretty much heard that the costumes saved the game in the first season, especially the first to second season. the costumes were the only reason the game actually continued or else it was just going to be dead. Like they would have given you a few updates and then arcade edition would have come out like approximately that time the game would have been done. But because the costumes were coming out with a frequency people were buying them like they were they were selling they weren't selling many units of the game at the time. The game was massively underperforming within the first year to two years. Massively underperforming. Um it so it sold worse than like Street Fighter cross Tekken within like a comparable time frame. So because of that they had to like pivot behind the scenes and make things better which they did and it started selling pretty good after that. And also the costumes were just also performing very well. So they made a lot of money on these things. Also, a reminder, the costumes of this game weren't that expensive. They weren't like I think maybe just maybe the the maximum was like four to five bucks for a costume maybe, but a lot of them were cheap. Like they could go as low as like $3 or something like that. So, they were affordable and they got the job done. They weren't like the highest quality, but they just gave you a lot of options, you know? Oh, that's that. Anyway, yeah, that's Street Fighter 5. Neat game. I go back to it now. I still um am humbly reminded of the things that I liked about it and a lot of painful memories of being a fan of Capcom fighting games. Oh man, it was brutal. That mid2010's era. Sheesh, dude. It was brutal, my dude. Um, either way, the game in the state that it's at right now is pretty fun and there's a ton of characters. It still works. It still functions. There's a ton of things you can do with single player. Um, if you're looking at a fighting game to get in this, it's easily one of the best bang for your bucks. Um, if you want to support Battle for the Habitats chat, exclamation point BFT, there should be a pinned comment on the YouTube side. We'll get a pinned one up on uh or the Twitch side. We'll get a pinned one up on the YouTube as well. So yeah, highly encourage you check it out. The other one that's in here um along with the myriad of other games for for Battle for the Habitats is Capcom Fighting Collection and I also Capcom Arcade Stadium which is very very good. this was crazy when this was announced. Chad, does anybody remember when this happened? Uh this was right around Street Fighter 6 reveal. Street Fighter 6 teaser. So, when we first got an idea that Street Fighter 6 was going to be around, it was like the final big tournament of Street Fighter 5. And no joke, it was right before the teaser. Yeah, it wasn't after. It was before it. Everyone was just like, "What the heck is going What? They actually are including drive audio. Yeah, I turned it down at some point. They're actually including games like um Puzzle Fighter, Gem Fighter. It's nuts, dude. Pressing A to start. It hates me. There we go. For some reason, it's B. Uh I think I might have turned off What's going on here? What's wrong? interesting. I think we got to change the PC port. Hold on. There we go. That's funny. Is there newer collection builds? Uh, no. SF30th anniversary. If you're talking about Street Fighter games, not technically. No. This one. This one and Capcom Fighting Collection 2 and Marvel vs. Capcom collection are pretty much the compendium, but we don't have every single Street Fighter. Like I don't think Alpha 2 is in any of these. Um, no Alpha 1. Those are stuck in the 30th anniversary collection, but you know what? There's going to be a Street Fighter 40th anniversary happening next year, so who knows? This is the uh emulation wrapper that they would use for everything moving forward, dude. And believe it or not, this this actually didn't come from this game. This was in the Capcom beat him up bundle is where they first did this. Hyper SF2. Oh, VSAP is in here. So yeah, Red Earth weird game mostly kind of like a single player adventure game, but it it technically is a fighting game. Um, Hyper SF2 was like the later versions of SF2 where you can pick all the different versions. Super Gem Fighter is probably one of the most charming fighting games ever made. Puzzle Fighter 2 is the classic Capcom take on uh on puzzle games. Cyberbots is a pretty crazy ass we had a tournament for this. A pretty crazy ass like 1v one robot fighting game. Simpler controls. These games are weird. These games are weird because they are limited distribution. You can get these in like the Darkstalkers anthology collection. I think they're effectively like other versions of Vampire Savior. Am I Is that what this is? This is like a different version of Vampire Savior's revenge. If you look at it, hold on. All I see is the roster for one frame. There it is. It is VSA. It's just VSA with with weird balancing and like character asset flips. It takes out characters and adds characters. Like Donovan is in this one and he's not normally in it. Pyon is playable. But the only way they could do that, that's what's so weird about this. The only way they could do that is by replacing other characters. So, why didn't they just put everybody is a is a question that most people ask at the time. My dude and brother, they maxed out the goddamn CPS2 board. It was literally memory limitations. There were so many animations in this game per character that they just ran out of memory. It's the same problem with like Marvel vs. Capcom 1. They just didn't have any more space. So they could not cram any more sprites into this stuff. So because of it, they the only choice they had, this is the this is the default roster, which is like this is VSA. Um was to release multiple different versions later on that most didn't get many home ports. If they did, they were like in Japan only. Um as Vampire Hunter 2, which is mad weird, a weird title, and Vampire Savior 2. And if we go into this one, what are the differences? vampire. What are the differences? Donovan's in it. I think this one gets uh rebalanced, right? Cuz it has the same characters as Vampire Hunter 2. What is the big difference in Vampire Savior 2? Can't I don't I actually don't know on this one. I thought it was something else. Did they put Jedha into it? Chyon and Donovan are in the previous one. They both have weird rebalancing. Yeah. Oh, the same rebalancing. Okay. Oh, there's no Sasquatch. You're right. He's also missing and no RKUo. Yeah, that's a good point. That's a good point. So, yeah, they just kind of like flop things around. I don't know how these games had budgets, dude. It's bizarre. Like this era of Yeah, there's only Japanese versions because they weren't released in the US. Um, it's hella bizarre. It doesn't make sense. Curious to check this out. Ruo strangely missing for a fishman. Um, turbo deaths. I still watch tournaments um or at least casuals to this day that play this game. Donovan is ass in this game, dude. He is not good, but he's cool as [ __ ] So neat. Hitbox viewer. Damn. Is this on a triple punch? Big foot. My buttons are super wacky. Hold up. Yeah, I was about to say, dude, what the hell is going on? Default. Holy moly. I'm like, what the I am not pressing this input. This one feels really weird. Hold up. This feels weird to me. Hold on a second. Just go to Vav because it's so much faster. Vampire triple this. This is one of the most fast-paced fighting games ever made, dude. This game was wanted your quarter and it wanted you to leave. I wanted you to leave. Wow. Can I not do that? I can dash and then do shadow JGO stuff. Where's dive kick? This game looks so good. It's so smooth. This was um this game came out in the same time frame as Street Fighter Alpha 3 within like a year, I think. Street Fighter Alpha 3, Marvel vs. Scapconom 1, Vampire Savior, and Third Strike. Like, no [ __ ] Within approximately a year, VSAB, was VSAB 97, or was it 98.99? Wanting him to have an air dash. You ever get these on the Saturn? Uh they weren't available on the Saturn in the US, only Darkstalkers 2. The only the only system that got this in the US uh back in the day was PlayStation 1, and I had it on PlayStation 1. It's called Darkstalkers 3. You had to import it. Yep. And you also needed the megabyte cartridge, right? You needed the 4meg RAM cart with it if it didn't come with it. Yeah, Night Warriors was on the Saturn in the US, not Dark Sockers 1. Dark Sockers 1 only came out on PlayStation. Here we go, Chad. Here we go. We doing this. dance. God, he's doing it. Oh no, he's doing it. Here's the history lesson of the day. Uh, yeah, Darkstalkers 2 was pretty much a Hold on a second. Darkstalkers 2 was pretty much a Saturn only game, right? And it came out as Night Warriors Darkstalkers Revenge. So that's funny ass box art, right? Uh this is my mint condition copy because go to hell. That's also the chat back there. Uh but Dark Sockers 1 was not on like anything. It was only on one system and released in one way. This one long box early PlayStation. This is like 1995 96 early era longbox PlayStation. So, uh, Darkstalkers 1 only came out in this way at that time frame. So, it pretty much went PlayStation 1, Darkstalkers 1, Saturn Darkstalkers 2, and then you would have to wait years later to get PlayStation Darkstalkers 3, aka Vampire Savior. But they just called it Darkstalkers 3. They eventually uh brought it over here. So yeah. Jeez, man. Um it was a lot. It was if you liked Darkstalkers, it just it was not easy to be like a fan of this stuff. And the same thing for Marvel vs. Capcom and like X-Men versus Street Fighter games because when they came out on PlayStation, they were severely compromised. Like really compromised. So anyway, if you want to play any of these things, I highly recommend you check out Capcom Fighting Collection 1. Um, it is the easiest way to just play Darkstalkers games in an official release cuz they're all on here. OTGs. I don't remember any of the strategy in this game, dude. Other than you have chain combos for days. Oh, yeah. Um, what what is what is alpha counter? I have to press like I have to like mash six buttons forward or something like that. Hold up. Hit me. There we go. So chat, if you want a tech hit, here's what's crazy. Could you imagine that mechanics in old fighting games didn't work every time that like push block? By the way, you have instinct mode in this. I wonder where Ki got it from. Wonder where Street Fighter 5 got it from. If you want to push block somebody in this game, you have to hit like what is it? Three inputs really fast. If she would hit me for God, I'm just killing her. Now she's hit me. Good lord. Die. boy. Hi. Don't want to die. He's trying to kill me. No. Um, when you want to do a push block in Darkstalkers 3: Vampire Savior, you have to like hit three buttons, like slide your hand across the controller to maybe get it, right? And it and I don't think it's just the top three buttons. I think it's just like you just slide your hand across a bunch of inputs and you might get it. Does anybody know the technical number? It's at least three, but six is recommended. That's what That's what I I mean. It's like it's not guaranteed. And I think I need a little bit of meater. God, hit me. Stop trying to hit me. Hit me. Oh man. You need something with block stun, lady. There we go. It's very bizarre, dude. A core gameplay mechanic that only works sometimes. God damn. I think throw is I'm not going to let me throw her. You're playing twice in a row to guarantee. I see. Oh yeah, she has instant overheads like Sasquatch, right? Doesn't really matter against a damn computer. What's Demetri's big super? It's like midnight bliss. Hold on a second. Uh, move list jab. Strong forward forward. Forward. son of a [ __ ] Yes. Want to get the super, bro. And like combos in general, like the core gameplay like concept of combos is not hard to do cuz they're just all chains. They have like Marvel vs. Capcom combos. I have to knock them down and then Oh, I used the meter. Oh, it took it from me. So that goes under that. Yikes. Bad ass command grab. A [ __ ] Yeah. You can't cancel after Gatling. Yeah. So like the idea is that you just go directly into a sweep and you go for like an OI situation, you know? It was cool. Like every character is like relatively like sort of easy to use, quote unquote easy. Sasquatch is a dirty bastard. use Warwick. Oh man. What is it? Overhead. Oh my god, dude. Hey, stop it. Just die. He does so much damage. Combos in Marvel 1 are harder than in Marvel 2. Yeah, cuz the buffer system in Marvel 1 is really tough. Uh the input buffer makes it not easy, dude. I agree with you. Marvel 2's the ease of moving around is is they made that game more approachable. Things just happen more responsibly. responsively in Marvel 2. Marvel one's pretty stiff. You know, you got to you have to really play the heck out of that game to unlock its mobility or movement in general. Oh, I have a command grab, which I'm never going to land now. Jesus. We're never seeing this against the computer. We're never going to see it. We just saw it. Look at that pipe beam. Hold on to this. Come on. You dink. Oh jeez. Does he get any specials on kicks? I don't think he does. Is that a charge character? Oh no, Stubby. You should see competitive vampire savior chat. It's It's insanely cool. characters like Bleta. Who was it? Kazunoko that could consistently land the Betta combo. Like nobody could do it. It was It was insanely hard to do. Oh, it was Sako. Yeah, that's right. This There was literally what was it? It was it the Sako combo before the Street Fighter 4 evil Ryu Sako combo. Oh, that's that emo this year. It is. It Card cancels.…
